I think the show was incredible. The show was incredibly well programmed, and even better executed. So they didn't beat us over the head with the most recognizable piece in western music for 11 minutes, the show design is next level. Congrats BD on 15, congrats on a fantastic season. When crown gets their feet in time (and a drumline), they can win a championship. They've got everything else going for them.
I thought it was the line that had a lot of ticks, but now I'm realizing that the snares are tuned a lot wetter than I'm used to from the BD line. Still rocking. My fav. drumcorps to this day.
Wow, bravo! Nice visuals and innovative speed transitions! It's a shame so many disrespectful comments on this video. They don't realize how many grueling hours on the hot sun it takes to get something this clean to come together. Either that or their just sore Phantom Regiment fans
around 2:25, i can totally see why they changed that soon after. it was so cool to watch and had a really nice groove to it, but it was very tricky and kinda dirty. but they added more solos so it doesnt feel so empty anymore
It's mostly because dut sounds roughly like a snare drum and you say it to warn the other people in your section that you're about to play and/or to keep time and make sure everyone is locked in.
/watch?v=lWdjM618CBU watch that. After this lot warmup, they perform their full approx. 10 minute show with their corps. This is just a sample of their show. And as you can see the quads and basses are wearing their drums and marching, and they are as well going in time with the drum majors hands. This is Drum Corps not Show band.
so you are saying that was triplet quarters in a 4/4 bar? did you march do you have the music? i just counted 3 measures of 3/4 in that sequence. i could be wrong though. im gonna put this into finale.
because they practice as much as all other corps and when it comes to performance its all business to them so they go out have fun, please the judges(because thats really honestly the most important thing) and audience, and put all that emotion and power to their playing. you know why? because they win back to back. so obviously this corps doing something thats making those judges look at them.
If you could play at the same level as people who have been practicing most of their lives and auditioned to be in one of THE best drum corps in the nation, I'd truly call you a genius. But you probably can't.
I agree to an extent but Bluecoats really deserved it this year. Only explanation is BDs front ensemble won it for them because Coat's battery was definitely cleaner.
Keelan: "Is it my year to be center??" Scojo: "Yes, on second thought lets make center tenor center snare this year.." Keelan: -__-
Blue devils yeah yeah cool and all, but how about those cows on the hill? Awesomeness
Caleb there book is hard af

Mmm was this pre 2013 I see
This aged quite well @the crown thing
Who's Here in 2022!!! 10yr anniversary of one of the greatest lines and most fun books!
Completely Impressive! We have a long history with Drum Corps, and really appreciate this awesome quality playing...TY
I just love the way the maestro keeps the beat with his drumsticks....I also love their dance....
And of course the small drum solo in the end.
Oh my god..... holy shit, this was so damn clean, all visuals were sharp and together, no breaks. Just.... perfect.
Awesome... Use to worship these guys in high school when I use to go to drumline competitions.
Ayyy nick Arce (center snare) is my Drumline instructor.
it was at Mt. Sac (Mount San Antonio College) which is in the city of Walnut, CA. same thing...
only matters what happened in the end... BD got wicked clean and had the best pit this year. a high drums award well won.
yes that's him, Nick Acre. He marched BD Quads for 1 or 2 years before too
I thought it was the line that had a lot of ticks, but now I'm realizing that the snares are tuned a lot wetter than I'm used to from the BD line. Still rocking. My fav. drumcorps to this day.

That meter change for the quads at 0:32 gives me the chills
BD percussion staff are geniuses. No way around it.
i wanna join the drumline!!! but im terrified to audition :(
"uploaded on jul 8, 2012" The actual date this was played was june 30.. It says so in the description :o
Not sure if it's just the audio or what, but for the blue devil's that sounded pretty damn dirty
its the audio
Oh what a clever response. Your mother must be very proud of what her child has achieved.
I believe he and the second snare from the left were tenors in RCC.
Was fine for me. May be a problem with you flash settings. Try turning off acceleration, or whatever it's called.
oh i didn't know you were a dci judge thanks for the insight...
Can anybody tell me the metric modulation that's being played at 0:32 by the tenors? The kinda slow part? Thanks.
Centre snare..wasnt he quads in his previous years?
no
This is going to be an interesting year
I am going to see these guys in action in a few weeks! So stoked! Hopefully I will catch them in the lot, and get a video to share on UA-cam!
What is the name of the fore arm roll the guy on the left does at 2:13!?!?!?!?!?
Anyone know where I can find the sheet music for this¿
snarescience in dci/wgi sheet music section under the blue devils
the one transcribed by zachary borromeo is the best
Great recording. Thanks for the snare drum samples :)
The really sad part is people can't simply do what most of us want. Simply enjoy some cool beats by a good line.
Excellent. As I posted on Mel's site: Excellent, proud of all of them. Talented and clean cut, refreshing to see.
yep! its probably under the Blue Devils Drum and Bugle Corps
can anyone tell me whether the ones in the video are shallow cut or sonic tenors?
Yes. They are good. But how are the trumpets?...
@MrJoshualoney Yes I do think that was Phantom Regiment in the background. :)
are you referring to the battery section or the BD organization as a whole.
And yet they're the ones with the rings and actually marching, wha'd you do this summer? Also, they're not skirts they're half capes.
"this is the part where the black guys show off" - Scojo
Just out of curiosity, are some of them wearing what looks like matching necklaces? What are those?
Blue Devils and Crown are the two best DCI bands I've come across in a long time.
Drum Corps not Bands
yepp, ive seen transcriptions of the music, and the ACTUAL part to the music and its quarter note triplets in 4/4 time.
That one snare on the left has and amazing sunglasses tan.
Phantom in the background.
haha 2:12 "oh keelan"
Absolutely crazy stick work! Very well done!
/watch?v=lWdjM618CBU watch that. After this lot warmup, they perform their full approx. 10 minute show with their corps. This is just a sample of their show. Snares sound so crispy!
so you are saying that was triplet quarters in a 4/4 bar? did you march do you have the music? i just counted 3 measures of 3/4 in that sequence. i could be wrong though. im gonna put this into finale.
is nick arce going to be snare this year
BRO the fucking sticks in after the giant break in the tenors. love it
@ Chris Garay yes it was and he played a solo
Didnt center snare play quads the year before?
From 2009-2011
Am I the only one who noticed Keelan's pinky stick out at the end of his solo?
His pinky had a cramp in the middle of his solo so he was stretching it out.
*insert The More You Know meme*
+Jarrett Varnadoe why does it matter if his pinky sticks out or not...
(it doesn't)
Coats battery was the fire this year. they were the only group to play a majority of their book in time.
Can you please share something you consider good? i used to drum and personally i thought that was awesome and showed some real talent
where are the stationed
keelan, y u no keep pinky on stick!?
do they have any FB fanpage?
Yeah I saw it on snarescience, I don't know why I didn't catch it. It's BD so I just over thought it. Thanks though!
you do realize this was more than a month ago
when is keelan gonna be center?!
BRO ON JULY 1st THEY WERE IN RIVERSIDE.. NOT MT SAC
One of the most known lines, but the best to me
I watched this on WIN...then I was like, "hey, that's Mt. Sac!" I come to UA-cam and confirms it. DABBO' WIN! :D
Maybe I missed something, but is that Nick Arce on center snare?
Yes. The tenor guy marched center snare.
is this a warmup or part of there show music. im guessing show music?
thanks for the link!!
So was BD's at finals
Didn't their center snare march Quads for RCC? Or is that just his twin or something? haha
Does anyone know what kind of drums these guys use? I know it's Pearl
Honestly i didn't understand the show that year but i surely love that line though. To it's the best bd line ever.
I would like to see you even try.
Did Stephanie age out?
lovin' the bass sound quality, what'd you film this on?
I just saw the movie "Drumline" and i think each roll in that movie gave me a different kind of cancer. But now I''m here so its all good
is that scott johnson?
se estiver uma vaga nessa banda eu vou ai fazer um entercambio sou brasileiro !!!!
gostei muito procure a tratucion
OMG I recognized the background and knew it was MT SAC
The inverted flamflaffastrokecheese-Bookratamacue in measure 497 was a little off.
just curious, how professional are you? like, did you go to Musician's institute and learn a lot from teachers, or is this a self proclaimed title?
BLAM. So where do I meet you for celebratory beers?
take a video of it and let us see then
Is that cows living on a hill in the background?
because they practice as much as all other corps and when it comes to performance its all business to them so they go out have fun, please the judges(because thats really honestly the most important thing) and audience, and put all that emotion and power to their playing. you know why? because they win back to back. so obviously this corps doing something thats making those judges look at them.
YES!!! KEELAN IS BACK!!!
Do you guys have The Dude as your teacher?
If you could play at the same level as people who have been practicing most of their lives and auditioned to be in one of THE best drum corps in the nation, I'd truly call you a genius. But you probably can't.
Where was nick cannon? He marches with blue devils right?
Amazing! Absolutely awesome.
I agree to an extent but Bluecoats really deserved it this year. Only explanation is BDs front ensemble won it for them because Coat's battery was definitely cleaner.
what part of the show is this?
im gonna say it goes into 3/4 with quarter notes grouped in quartets.
The camera makes the snares sound real wet..its still a great video(:
Where da cymbals at???
Blue Devils don't have a cymbal line.
They didn't that year.
***** This isn't high scool drumline...
OMG.....
***** this is so much better than high school shit. This is on a much higher class Than highschool shit. This is pretty much the best
snare line misbehaved? Only they had to use harnesses, everyone else got stands.
Brian Ketelboeter Scoops :)
Christmas can actually entertain an audience. Plus, Crown deserved to win, their show entertained and was piss clean.
THHEE?!?!?
