so you are saying that was triplet quarters in a 4/4 bar? did you march do you have the music? i just counted 3 measures of 3/4 in that sequence. i could be wrong though. im gonna put this into finale.
If you could play at the same level as people who have been practicing most of their lives and auditioned to be in one of THE best drum corps in the nation, I'd truly call you a genius. But you probably can't.
Look up the DADA movement. You'll understand their show that was actually designed extremely well. And BD marches like none other and playes their music wonderfully, though it's not for everyone. No disrespect towards your opinion, though. If you don't like them, you don't like them.
I think the show was incredible. The show was incredibly well programmed, and even better executed. So they didn't beat us over the head with the most recognizable piece in western music for 11 minutes, the show design is next level. Congrats BD on 15, congrats on a fantastic season. When crown gets their feet in time (and a drumline), they can win a championship. They've got everything else going for them.
around 2:25, i can totally see why they changed that soon after. it was so cool to watch and had a really nice groove to it, but it was very tricky and kinda dirty. but they added more solos so it doesnt feel so empty anymore
because they practice as much as all other corps and when it comes to performance its all business to them so they go out have fun, please the judges(because thats really honestly the most important thing) and audience, and put all that emotion and power to their playing. you know why? because they win back to back. so obviously this corps doing something thats making those judges look at them.
I guess you're not very tolerant. I have MANY Asian friends and colleges, trust me, a few jokes here and there are fine. Also, have you actually SEEN their bands and performances? Don't just assume I'm being racist.
I don't get why people still bash them and think that SCV should've won. Look at early season videos and then look at Finals and Champs night. SCV was hot during the beginning of the season but they plateaued like a month into the season. The top 4 corps started out descent and then kept progressing through the season. And then at Finals night SCV was dirty as hell. BD deserved their win so don't dog them because they are "only the most shown off corps." They're just better this year...
I'm not really bothered by your thinking, because it's not unpopular. And it really boils down to the fact that BD tailors their shows to win. Whether or not they actually entertain the audience is, in a way, left up to chance. I don't hate them for always pushing to win it, but then again I'm not someone who's been around for a super long time, thus have no argument when it comes to them "recycling shows."
1. They're dirtier than most corps because look at the date on this show, June 30. It's better to have a hard book that's dirty early in the season so that you can have a hard and clean book later in the season. If you max out your book early in the season there's no room to get better, and you peak, the only direction when you peak is down. Also 2. Their show details an artistic movement, look it up and maybe you'll understand more. 3. They're better all around, Visual, CG, GE, Etc.
Well, Thats just politics. They've won the most because they are the most shown off corps. If they didn't, that would be like an off brand selling better than a name brand. Yes, they won, but drumline wise, SCV should have won. Especially since they've got drum Jesus as an instructor. haha They are just dirty..
*cough* undefeated 15 *cough* Nah. You just have to understand the concept behind their show. It was based off of the Dada movement, which occurred in the early-20th century. It poked fun at modern art at the time and many people hate it. If you hate it, that's what the designers wanted you to do: hate it. Like many others did during the actual Dada art movement.
What's the point of this kind of thing? I understand it's impressive, but does anyone think it sounds good? It just seems like an excuse to show off how well they can hit drums. Why don't they practice to do something that doesn't sound like crap?
But that the thing, BD always has the harder book, because they have better players. and thats only because BD is more advertised. Either way, I will always say that SCV won. I think that Paul Rennick is drum jesus and Scojo is drum devil.
@BZDrummer1. Then, they should be called a Drum Corp, not Drumline. If you are going to use the name then respect the game. Even in warm-ups, true drumline hold their own. Believe me, I come from both styles of drummin'.
Man this gets me angry. This could be perhaps the worst I've ever heard the devils play. I remember the snares back in 79, 80,81...what a shame...guys please go back and review these tapes...
Not being able to join a drum core in the future is the ONLY reason I don't like being a woodwind. Other than that......jasper low reed swag all the way!!!
I thought it was the line that had a lot of ticks, but now I'm realizing that the snares are tuned a lot wetter than I'm used to from the BD line. Still rocking. My fav. drumcorps to this day.
That is not true. See this drumline, at the end of the season at the DCI World Championship Finals, they won best percussion, AND the whole Corps won 1st place. And it's Drum Corps by the way, not Drum Corp. But they are a Drum Corps, but they are the Drumline section of the Drum Corps. Here why don't you watch the whole show : /watch?v=miRnJl3lqxk
/watch?v=lWdjM618CBU watch that. After this lot warmup, they perform their full approx. 10 minute show with their corps. This is just a sample of their show. And as you can see the quads and basses are wearing their drums and marching, and they are as well going in time with the drum majors hands. This is Drum Corps not Show band.
Blue devils yeah yeah cool and all, but how about those cows on the hill? Awesomeness
Caleb there book is hard af
Awesome... Use to worship these guys in high school when I use to go to drumline competitions.
BD percussion staff are geniuses. No way around it.
One of the most known lines, but the best to me
so you are saying that was triplet quarters in a 4/4 bar? did you march do you have the music? i just counted 3 measures of 3/4 in that sequence. i could be wrong though. im gonna put this into finale.
Yeah I saw it on snarescience, I don't know why I didn't catch it. It's BD so I just over thought it. Thanks though!
YES!!! KEELAN IS BACK!!!
And yet they're the ones with the rings and actually marching, wha'd you do this summer? Also, they're not skirts they're half capes.
If you could play at the same level as people who have been practicing most of their lives and auditioned to be in one of THE best drum corps in the nation, I'd truly call you a genius. But you probably can't.
...eeemm.. they,,,like a machine..awesome
Can anybody tell me the metric modulation that's being played at 0:32 by the tenors? The kinda slow part? Thanks.
Do you guys have The Dude as your teacher?
glad they changed part of this, it would've never been clean
that's awesome.
yep
is that scott johnson?
Look up the DADA movement. You'll understand their show that was actually designed extremely well. And BD marches like none other and playes their music wonderfully, though it's not for everyone. No disrespect towards your opinion, though. If you don't like them, you don't like them.
Nice Job!!!
Awesome! :-)
oh wait i was wrong. i dont know where that extra beat came from.
God they sound so much better on pearl drums. System blues just don’t cut it.
Very observant.
Keelan: "Is it my year to be center??" Scojo: "Yes, on second thought lets make center tenor center snare this year.." Keelan: -__-
"this is the part where the black guys show off" - Scojo
I just love the way the maestro keeps the beat with his drumsticks....I also love their dance....
And of course the small drum solo in the end.
Who's Here in 2022!!! 10yr anniversary of one of the greatest lines and most fun books!
Ayyy nick Arce (center snare) is my Drumline instructor.
haha 2:12 "oh keelan"

Mmm was this pre 2013 I see
This aged quite well @the crown thing
Phantom in the background.
The really sad part is people can't simply do what most of us want. Simply enjoy some cool beats by a good line.
around 2:25, i can totally see why they changed that soon after. it was so cool to watch and had a really nice groove to it, but it was very tricky and kinda dirty. but they added more solos so it doesnt feel so empty anymore
The inverted flamflaffastrokecheese-Bookratamacue in measure 497 was a little off.
because they practice as much as all other corps and when it comes to performance its all business to them so they go out have fun, please the judges(because thats really honestly the most important thing) and audience, and put all that emotion and power to their playing. you know why? because they win back to back. so obviously this corps doing something thats making those judges look at them.
Am I the only one who noticed Keelan's pinky stick out at the end of his solo?
His pinky had a cramp in the middle of his solo so he was stretching it out.
*insert The More You Know meme*
+Jarrett Varnadoe why does it matter if his pinky sticks out or not...
(it doesn't)
only matters what happened in the end... BD got wicked clean and had the best pit this year. a high drums award well won.
Completely Impressive! We have a long history with Drum Corps, and really appreciate this awesome quality playing...TY
Centre snare..wasnt he quads in his previous years?
no
it was at Mt. Sac (Mount San Antonio College) which is in the city of Walnut, CA. same thing...
I guess you're not very tolerant. I have MANY Asian friends and colleges, trust me, a few jokes here and there are fine. Also, have you actually SEEN their bands and performances? Don't just assume I'm being racist.
Kevin Hart dominating some quads!
I think I just got diaBEATIES!
I can't even comment on a bad entrance on any of the phrases, because I can only half-fathom how fucking difficult it'd be to learn this shit.
That meter change for the quads at 0:32 gives me the chills

"uploaded on jul 8, 2012" The actual date this was played was june 30.. It says so in the description :o

i love how the black snare players got the g.e. and solos. XD
Not being able to join a drum core in the future is the ONLY reason I don't like being a woodwind. Other than that......jasper low reed swag all the way!!!
oh dang, he whipped out the "f" word
shit just got real
I thought it was the line that had a lot of ticks, but now I'm realizing that the snares are tuned a lot wetter than I'm used to from the BD line. Still rocking. My fav. drumcorps to this day.
just curious, how professional are you? like, did you go to Musician's institute and learn a lot from teachers, or is this a self proclaimed title?
The only way to come close to accurate judging would be if they all played the same show. As it is now, you're comparing apples and oranges.
You're own dislike for the show is what skyrocketed BD straight to the top this season. I think someone's already explained it to you.
they may have been clean but crown show was for sure better and more entertaining.
are you referring to the battery section or the BD organization as a whole.
What is the name of the fore arm roll the guy on the left does at 2:13!?!?!?!?!?
Not that this isn't awesome. But why do they do it? Just for fun? Or does it work with some kind of scholarship in the States...?
lol wut? You may want to delete this comment and learn a little bit about drum corps and how they rehearse and operate.
It's ok to have you're own opinion. If you compare this to finals lot video a completely different, cleaner line by far.
That is not true. See this drumline, at the end of the season at the DCI World Championship Finals, they won best percussion, AND the whole Corps won 1st place. This is going to be an interesting year
Does anyone else just think that this book just doesn't make sense? Like it's just a bunch of stuff jumbled together?
2012 Blue Devils drumline...ThatWasSexy
Static from your microphone...ThatWasNot
Even the best orchestra's in the world have directors, the troll clearly don't understand how music world works.
THey arent fucking robots. If you wanna see a book played perfectly clean go watch Carolina Crowns easy bullshit
Was fine for me. May be a problem with you flash settings. Try turning off acceleration, or whatever it's called.
had to watch Drumline on a bus today... had to fix the issue of thinking they were actually good in that movie.
I miss the sound of mylar heads...just sayin'.... It just sounds like they are hitting a kitchen countertop.
Anyone know where I can find the sheet music for this¿
snarescience in dci/wgi sheet music section under the blue devils
the one transcribed by zachary borromeo is the best
Not to be a dick but they have sounded better in past years. But even then still better than me. lol
2:32 - 2:45, WHY DID THEY TAKE THAT OUT IT WAS SO BADASS!
Oh my god..... holy shit, this was so damn clean, all visuals were sharp and together, no breaks. Just.... perfect.
Win DCI 14 times and maybe 15 times then run your mouth oops i meant to say your fingers....lol
ahhhh that poor baseline was barely encluded it's whatever tho they still killed it
Clifton Hodges I was a bass player and I feel they don't get the credit they deserve
Baseline never gets credit or chances to do things 😬😂 -2nd base player
No; it's really not. Scuzzing all over the place. You just can't listen fast enough to tell.
Didn't their center snare march Quads for RCC? Or is that just his twin or something? haha
Because of the movie drumline, I can't take this seriously. So instead this was hilarious.
Even tho I'm not to fond of the style of show I can't deny that they don't sound awesome.
The camera makes the snares sound real wet..its still a great video(:
That one snare on the left has and amazing sunglasses tan.
Anyone else? Snare on the left at the end of the video? Amazing, but a harsh mistake.
Dont cry just because 9gag has no structure and is just /r advice animals + /r pics :(
can anyone tell me whether the ones in the video are shallow cut or sonic tenors?
2:10 HOLY SHIT THAT PINKY lol he is a kickass player though
DCI bands????
BANDS??????
CAME ACROSS IN A LONG TIME??
true but i thought bd had the edge but crown won brass so they had a good night
Not sure if it's just the audio or what, but for the blue devil's that sounded pretty damn dirty
its the audio
they were dirty until finals night /watch?v=FlF01teiPvI&feature=related
To a point*. I mean, who likes hearing Christmas music in July-August? -_-
snare line misbehaved? Only they had to use harnesses, everyone else got stands.
Brian Ketelboeter Scoops :)
ah, you're just one of those guys.
