This is the most fun drumline battle I have watched. Yeah it was dirty but who the heck cares? You could tell both sides were having a lot of fun and it was extremely entertaining
We literally learned this in the parking lot like a few hours before the battle. We were having fun and entertaining the crowd there. A large portion of the spectators at these DCI events in downtown Indy are people that are unfamiliar with Drumcorps, and this was a great way to turn people on to the activity. Yeah, it was dirty, but cleanliness wasnt the point of this one. There are plenty of clean videos of us from that year on youtube, so go ahead and watch those, but take this event for what it was meant to be. Hype for DCI and to entertain potential Drumcorps enthusiasts.

The drumline battle is a new way to try and get more people out to champs and a new way to get people to come and watch what other attractions dci is going to start to offer other than just going and watching finals. A way for families to come and enjoy another part of dci. Now for all you out there who are saying bdb is dirty and jersey surf is dirty and ll that. What you dont see is that everyone who competed in this drumline battle was already done with tour and to be honest this was all for fun and games and cleanliness was the last thing on their mind. After getting your butt kicked all summer sure this is fun but to honest the only thing these kids want to do is go watch lots and finals and hang out. not suit up again and drum when yhey could be hanging out. So get over yourselfs and trying to act like it should of went to them. and for the record bdb beat jersey at semis in drums and over all so there you go.

Weird as it sounds I love when a drumline uniform conceals the players faces. Makes it look like an actual UNIT and a bonus on top of that is no stupid playing faces lmao
Jersey was good and they were on que. Bdb wad very fast paced and was exciting to watch. Of course it wasn't completely clear cut and all together but when you play home, you want to be hyped up and their last segment gave me goosebumps. Great job to both but Bdb had it for fast paced drumming.
Jersey won the 1st round. Bdb did a lot of movement where people were not drumming. They were not as tight. The second round jersey was consistent to the first round. Bdb tighten up and had much more complicated in the their drumming. I was the best of the rounds. If you would put all of the rounds together Jersey because of their rounds were longer and more complicated movement while moving.
Honestly, the way that I've always seen the Blue Devils is they pay more attention to showmanship...rather than being completely focused on precision and uniformity. I think this is a good example of that.
I think BDB was a little cocky but this was a drumline battle. It was all in good spirits and fun. Also at the beginning I had to laugh a little at Surf tapping off the ditty
I honestly think Jersey was better, coming from a bluedevils fan. BlueDevils werent exciting until the second part, while Jersey was fun to watch overall. But both did very well! Hype was immense for BD second round

Jim Edwards the first segment blue devils b played was a show segment the rest was blue devils entertainment stuff that none of them have ever played before. Its more about hype and movement in drumline battle. You honestly cant tell me that E-sarn drumline from thailand won from being clean... or genesis beating the crossmen.. even so blue devils b has harder book than surf does.. I wish it was based off cleanliness but it doesnt seem to be that way.
Blue Devils A is the Blue Devils World Class corps...the hardest to get into and they rehearse harder + have harder music all together. Blue Devils B is the Blue Devils upper level Open Class corps...decently accessible to anyone with a good level of skill on their plate. Usually used as a gateway or recruitment program for those who want to march in Blue Devils A Corps, though that's not always the case. Blue Devils C is the Blue Devils lower and beginner level Open Class corps. It's open to anyone age 8-14 I think and it's for beginners to music and marching.
The crowd cant tell the difference between dirt and clarity. Surf was cleaner but BDB was more hyped. Crowd likes hype i guess. Surf shouldve won in my opinion, and their opening was perfect. very funny.
Theres a difference between drumlines who ram notes at 15 inches 90% of the time and run around like crazy people, than a group that has much better defined heights and overall musicality. Jersey Surf defiantly takes this one for the better drumline no question. Blue Devils were loud and pretty obnoxious as well as a pain to listen too.....but im sure this all relates back to the whole west coast east coast thing.....lets go east.
