The price of any LED device is tied to the number, type and quality of LED chipsets (emitters). If it's a cheap one then it will have less LEDs and/or lower quality LEDs. A chipset is the the microchip inside just one of the LED squares, and there could be more than one. For example, the LED cap in this video has 180 LEDs but each one has five emitters of different wavelengths, for a total of 900 emitters. So it produces a spectrum of red light in different wavelengths. This provides for more depth of penetration, and different levels of photon stimulation of cells. Since it's not certain which exact wavelength is the "best" for hair growth, having five instead of one increases the chance of success.
