I really hope they go another direction with the actors because so far all of the choices they havr made for current projects have been great and James has said that he want's the actors to match what the characters look like in the comics and hey his castings for Superman, Lois, Jimmy, Supergirl, Lex and etc have been great, we can't say for sure until we see an official post from James
They’ve only offered the role to Brolin (which I don’t think he’ll take) but that’s kind of a bad sign for me. It shows the age range of the Hal Jordan they want and potentially what they’re going to do with him. And I don’t like either so far. I’m not saying Hal has to be like super young, and I do like the angle that he’s already experienced as a Green Lantern and is considered a legend while also being a mentor type of figure to John Stewart. But I don’t want him to be THAT much older than John. Or Superman, or anybody else who’s supposed to be his peer for that matter. You can be like 5-10 years older and still be a mentor showing somebody else the ropes. Brolin is almost in his 60s. I want an actor that can carry the role for another good 10 or so years. But that leads me to believe that those aren’t their plans. I feel like he’s only going to be in like the first season of Lanterns with *maybe* an appearance in the movies before they either kill him off or retire him and set the stage for John being the main GL that joins the DCU version of the Justice League. I hope that’s not the case. We can have both Hal and John be main stay GLs. It’s what most people want. And I also want Hal to be a founding member of the JL since he is in the comics. And I don’t want him to be pushing 60 or even 50. As far as Kumail Nanjiani as Booster Gold, I REALLY hope that’s not true. Not only is he also older but he looks nothing like BG. He has the type of comedic chops that could pull off how BG acts, but the look is a big part of it too and he just doesn’t have it. Not to mention the age, like I said. I really hope James Gunn actually somewhat takes fan opinion/feedback into consideration. Because we are the ones paying our hard earned money to go and see these movies and fund their jobs and lifestyles.
Why? Sounds like they're going the 1990s Green Lantern route with an older Hal that very well might lead to the Parallax storyline. That sounds like it could be pretty great to me.
i think those castings make more sense if we think about the roumours of them wanting to have damian as batmans robin so batman has to be an older guy and the rest of the heroes being older works more then
I like Josh. I think he could be a good lantern but I do feel that they should have had Hal be younger I want a green lantern that’s going to stick around for the future which is why I think they should cast actors and actresses at least in their 20’s or 30’s
You have to understand that just because the actor is one age does it mean the character they’re playing is like in the karate kid Daniel LaRusso is 15 or 14 but his actor was 18
Gunn was destroying the castings for the most part (Nathan Fillion) and it’s just gone down hill he’s offering roles to older guys and I get their proven talent but one thing I liked about Marvel and the New Superman casting getting relative unknowns to play the big name characters but I won’t judge until the projects come out
I think it’s likely that John Stewart will be the main GL of the DCU. Gunn mentioned taking inspiration from the DCAU and I wouldn’t be surprised if John being the main Green Lantern is one idea he’s taking. I would much prefer Hal
Bruce Timm didn't know much about Green Lantern, he only chose John because of a quota and didn't even bother adapting his comic counterpart but instead gave him Hal's personality.
I feel like a lot of people don’t realize this universe is meant to feel lived in. Some of these characters are supposed to be older. That being said, Josh Brolin just doesn’t seem like a good fit for Hal, regardless of his age.

The official Lanterns synopsis describes Hal as a "veteran Lantern legend" teaming up with a "rookie" John Stewart, so it makes sense. This to me points toward Stewart probably being the main GL focus moving forward in the JL, and maybe later doing the Parallax storyline with the older Hal. Look at the cover of Green Lantern #1 vol. 3 1990.. that's what they're going for.. People have to remember this universe is supposed to feel lived-in with already established heroes, some well into their careers, some newer. Every character is not being introduced at the start of their career with an origin. Thai allows them to hit the ground running.

I never thought DC going with a more established universe than Marvel was a problem, it was just the DCEU sucked and made poor decisions. When I heard Gunn was going with this approach, i was happy, but now it feels like they are going too far in that direction and jumping over important storylines. Green Lantern was what I wanted to see the most, and the fact it's gonna be a show doesn't fill me with hope and all the recent news is just making me more worried. It feels like they have no idea what to do with GL, probably cause of the disaster that was the GL movie.
Damson idris is a great actor I love him in snowfall but also I feel like he'd fit the role of a villain or anti hero better but someone who will continue going down the line and see his emotional acting capabilities, he's great as an evil or emotional character, I wanna see him as maybe black spider, bronze tiger, black mask, or somebody involved with checkmate

Matt Boomer should be Hal Jordan he's been dying for a major superhero role since he got turned down for superman. Josh Brolin should be DeathStroke I mean he has the look and voice for it.
If it were me, Josh brolin would have been better as Alan Scott if the rumors are true
Booster feels like a jock sports players from an 80’s movies and this casting definitely doesn’t match and I didn’t know he was that old.
If they’re casting older people for Hal then we might be getting Parallax soon than we thought
If they’re going to go for an old Hal Jordan, why couldn’t Nathan Fillion have just played him.
He is already Guy Gardner
@@biguy617 Yeah I know but he would have been better suited to play an older Hal Jordan.
Crazy how the Superman Legacy casting was so on point and then there’s this. We better not have Glen Powell as Batman
Man if this hal Jordan rumor is true I'll be heartbroken
Me too man Hal's my favorite Lantern and to see him get sidelined and passed his prime doesnt sit right with me😂
Why? Sounds like they're going the 1990s Green Lantern route with an older Hal that very well might lead to the Parallax storyline. That sounds like it could be pretty great to me.
@@Mirakulus9 i want to see hal jordan at his prime in live action
@@ishaanbhattacharya9405 Well, the official synopsis says he's a veteran Lanterns legend, so we're getting an older Hal. That's just the way it is.
It's gonna be true Hals been treated like shit for a while
We have to make a Chris Pine movement like #pineforgl or sumin
i think those castings make more sense if we think about the roumours of them wanting to have damian as batmans robin so batman has to be an older guy and the rest of the heroes being older works more then
Yes, but Damian was artificially aged, and Hal would still be way older than everyone else.
I like Josh. I think he could be a good lantern but I do feel that they should have had Hal be younger I want a green lantern that’s going to stick around for the future which is why I think they should cast actors and actresses at least in their 20’s or 30’s
You have to understand that just because the actor is one age does it mean the character they’re playing is like in the karate kid Daniel LaRusso is 15 or 14 but his actor was 18
Mark my words they’re gonna give Hal’s iconic stories to John just like they gave him Ayo and Razor in his Animated movie
Hopefully they do the same in the comics
You mean the animated series
@@jayjaysworld7110 Aya and Razor were in Hal’s animated series but they showed up in Crisis animated movie for John
Ryan Gosling as Booster Gold is the biggest misopportunity of the century.
Gunn was destroying the castings for the most part (Nathan Fillion) and it’s just gone down hill he’s offering roles to older guys and I get their proven talent but one thing I liked about Marvel and the New Superman casting getting relative unknowns to play the big name characters but I won’t judge until the projects come out
Because they’re not the main heroes lol. The main heroes are younger (Superman, Hawkgirl, John Stewart…etc)
@@JUANxxTNAFAN just because they're not the main players doesn't mean they can hire older actors for characters that are canonically young
@@Vin_solo yes that is exactly what it means. Why hire up and coming actors for side characters you’re not focusing on?
Yo no way you used my picture I edited at 2:49 hahaha that's awesome ❤
I think it’s likely that John Stewart will be the main GL of the DCU. Gunn mentioned taking inspiration from the DCAU and I wouldn’t be surprised if John being the main Green Lantern is one idea he’s taking. I would much prefer Hal
AGAIN what thinks this universe even last more 5 years @dynaguy3 but get beloved jla film the genre very much peaked
Bruce Timm didn't know much about Green Lantern, he only chose John because of a quota and didn't even bother adapting his comic counterpart but instead gave him Hal's personality.
I need this for Aaron Pierre
He’d make a hell of a J’onn J’onzz
Before I found out they were going with an older Hal, my personal fancast was
Alden Ehrenreich as Hal Jordan
Shamier Anderson as John Stewart
I feel like a lot of people don’t realize this universe is meant to feel lived in. Some of these characters are supposed to be older.
That being said, Josh Brolin just doesn’t seem like a good fit for Hal, regardless of his age.
If we get an older Hal Jordan i fear we might jump to Paralax. Would like time with Hal before jumping to that if need be.
Im dead😂😂 he said kumail's accent doesn't fit a written character
He may fit Simon Baz
I mean Booster doesn’t exactly look like he’d have a Pakistani accent
@@butterstotch3233 he's from the year 2462, we can't even fathom what he may sound like
@@mylesdunson Considering he played college football and looks like the most stereotypical quarterback made by a comic writer in the 80s we can safely assume America was not overran by Pakistan in 2462
@@butterstotch3233 we can't say what the geopolitics of the 2400s is, who knows Bollywood movies might take over and future Americans model their accents after those actors, also the US is a nation built on immigrants so its not crazy to think that a Pakistani man could try to pursue the American dream.
Dude no one saw the tomorrow verse! I’m 100% sure that HJ is a one and done in the DCU.
The real question is, are they gonna make a Justice League movie in the DCU?
Pine is good out of all of these but we honestly just need a GOOD no name actor that LOOKS like the character.
I hate the Brolin as Hal Jordan casting so much. If James Gunn is going to make him older, why not Bradley Cooper? He at least looks the part and has way more charisma
If Josh Brolin isn't cast as Hal Jordan then I'd love to see Timothy Olyphant take on the role. Chris Pine is a solid pick too
As James Gunn already has a story mapped out, I'll hold out for more info. I do believe that we are in fact going to see a Justice League with members all around the same age.
Video Request: “Every MCU Movie If Disney Didn't Brought Marvel from Paramount.”
I am going with a very hard NO on Josh Brolin as Hal Jordan. If they cast him I won't waste my time with this new cinematic universe, it'll be dead on arrival as far as I am concerned.
It seems Gunn wants to run it into the ground
Josh brolin would be perfect for thomas wayne
And we need an accurate depiction of hal jordan in live action plz🙏
Plzz cast someone blond in their 30s for booster gold
I'd love a Hal in his early to mid 30s
@@Kalel2.0Same same
Hals not blond though
@@abiodunsulaiman2297Yeah Hal has brown hair in the comics and most of his adaptations

Presumedly there is a story reason for casting actors of different age ranges. If this is the case, I reserve judgement until we see the final result. If on the other hand, these are all characters who are supposed to be peers age-wise, that would be bad.
I brought this up on another video (on another channel) but what if the person who *gets* murdered (and kicks off the plot of Lanterns) is actually Hal Jordan and it's actually up to John teaming up with Guy Gardner to figure out who killed Hal (I at least feel like John and Guy could work better for a buddy cop series)
Horrible absolutely horrible 💀
@@zetsub0u115 Eh, I personally don't like Hal too much (I wouldn't mind if he's one of the main characters but. aside from that show in the early 2010s, I don't feel much towards him)

Miles Teller - Hail
John David Washington-John
I’m sorry but Miles Teller would not work for me either lol. JDW as John though, I could see
0:49 Glen Powell and Ryan Gosling are sitting right there….. Bruh
If they wanted an older Hal Jordan. Why not cast Nathan Fillion. He’s about the same age as Josh Brolin by a couple of years younger, and has voiced Hal Jordan in many projects before and was a popular fan cast for Hal Jordan. Idk know what James Gunn is doing with the DCU. Some of this projects, castings decisions and rumors seems weird but I’ll guess we’ll see
fr
I REALLY hope all these Green Lantern rumors aren't true. They're so dumb. Making Hal Jordan the old, gruff, no-nonsense, mentor Lantern when KILOWOG is right there is so pointless and counterintuitive. All you'd do is fumble Hal and make Kilowog completely redundant.
Gunn clearly has no idea what he's doing
@@Ice-tc5vn it isn't confirmed just speculation, but if you seen past movies you would know he is great at what he does,at least better than snyder

@@paatagigolashvili9551 He's made it clear he's looking for a 50+ actors to play Hal and toss him aside for John Stewart. Just because he made great movies doesn't mean he should be given the reigns for an entire universe, Snyder made great movies too pre DCEU and looked how his universe turned out
Glen Powell for Hal Jordan please. For pete's sake, he's already played the cocky fighter pilot role so well in Top Gun: Maverick. Though I agree, he'd work well as Booster Gold too
People act like we don't already have the perfect Hal Jordan, his role in Twisters cemented again that he literally is Hal Jordan
Maybe Ryan Gosling for Booster Gold
@@crazycat14872 yeah you are amazing at casting he is such good actor
Out of all the five actors rumored, Chris Pine would definitely make a great Hal Jordan. Personally I would love to see either Zac Efron or Chris Pratt (if he's not gonna play Booster Gold) as Hal Jordan.
Bro damson idris is one of the best actors I’ve seen in our current generation I truly believe he can play one hell of a John Stewart
Exactly…how doesn’t he know that
The official Lanterns synopsis describes Hal as a "veteran Lantern legend" teaming up with a "rookie" John Stewart, so it makes sense.
@@Mirakulus9 please no, we don't need another shitty parallax adaptation where they use john instead of kyle

JAMES GUNN POSTED THAT GRANT GUSTIN IS PLAYING FLASH LEZ GO
They ignored Glenn Powell for Green Lantern and Booster Gold smh
How about waiting until the properties come out and then complain; you don’t know what the context of the film or tv.
What’s great about these characters being older is now there is far more roles for new younger actors to play.
The reason why there's the characters ages I like that because you would know this by now but it's a universe where heroes and characters have existed
I think James Gunn should've used Snyder casting. He was excellent at choosing actors.
I don’t want the Green Lantern to say “Alright Alright” while saying his oath so no to Matthew. Since when did Hal have a British accent? No to Ewan. I could see Ewan as the scientist half of Firestorm.
Booster could appear in the Blue Beetle animated show
Idk if you mentioned this but it’s been reported that the dcu will have movies set at different times like some current day others in the past , I’m assuming some in the future with no strict time frame . Atleast that’s the current rumor . Also I’d be okay with Jon being the main lantern but for Hal’s casting I’m hoping it’s Chris pine .
I think all of these castings are awesome personally
I think Glenn Powell could be a good Hal Jordan imo
The best choice for Hal Jordan would be Glen Powell, Chris Pine or Patrick Schwarzenegger.
WHOLE HEARTEDLY AGREE WITH THE BOOSTER GOLD STUFF.
old actor to probably kill hal soon enough ( i m affraid barry will receive tha same treatment)
i’m not crazy about the Booster Gold casting, but i can totally get behind Brolin as Hal Jordan. it’s clear they wanna focus on John Stewart long term. and Hal from the start has been described as a “Lantern Legend”, so people who want a young Hal Jordan, it was never going to happen. i think people are underestimating Brolins talent, also he’s a funny dude, he can pull off Hal Jordan
Sounds like they are going for an old Hal Jordan who will retire and lead into John Stewart being the main green lantern
Your picks for Hall and John are on point.
Josh brolin should be desthstroke
That would be awesome
Joe Manganiello
Let Gunn cook!
It's so funny when fans get to talking about what they'd do if they were in charge
Pine and Timothy are the 2 people i'd love to see as Hal Jordan
Honestly I trust James Gunn with any casting since he cast Vin Diesel as Groot and somehow made it work
I love most info about creature commandos and superman legacy and trust james gunn but I hate all info we know about the lanterns and that's saying lot because lanterns are my favourite.
I like the ages everywhere. It’s not like one generation would be hero’s and not others.
So i know this saga doesn't have a lot of movies but can you do a what if the sony Spider-Man universe was structured like the mcu?
Damson idris is a great actor I love him in snowfall but also I feel like he'd fit the role of a villain or anti hero better but someone who will continue going down the line and see his emotional acting capabilities, he's great as an evil or emotional character, I wanna see him as maybe black spider, bronze tiger, black mask, or somebody involved with checkmate
How come Glen Powell literally played a Fighter Pilot, looks like Hal but is not even being considered 💀💀💀
Maybe he doesn't want to be typecasted. It's not like you people go that deep with your fancasts. I'm sure you thought real hard about why Jenny Ortega should be Raven, oh no wait you just saw her play Wednesday and that's as far as you got.
Because Gunnisanidiot
@@1993digifan So Glen Powell told you this?
@@1993digifan You're right. In order to not implicate type casting, hire someone who is horrible for the part, and not even consider the person who is widely considered to be able to play it well. Isn't that what casting is about? Hiring the best person for the role.
We should take a look at the MCU cast. How old is Robert Downey Jr? Paul Rudd and the rest of the cast?
Glenn Powell is a way better pick for Booster Gold just look at him he fits the role perfectly. Matt Boomer should be Hal Jordan he's been dying for a major superhero role since he got turned down for superman. Josh Brolin should be DeathStroke I mean he has the look and voice for it. The guy has that villain aura
Would go: Jake Gyllenhaal as Hal, Aaron Pierre as John
Dude why are they casting actor's so much older then superman that doesn't feel right doesn't make sense
I really dont get why everybody keep on bashing the 2011 Green Lantern movie. It wasn't even that bad as far as super hero flicks goes as a whole.
But that aside, I completely agree that they should go a different direction with Hal, besides turning him into Parallax again... At least not this soon.
They should be Superman's peers and he should be the hero everyone looks up to. It's hard for a bunch of 50 year olds to look up to a 30 year old. Besides that, starting a character at the beginning of the universe in their 50s can hinder a lot of their growth
you should make a video about what if Dc followed the mcu structure including the tv shows
