    12/07/2023, watched your video and just replaced the thermostat on my 97 SW2. Thanks for the straightforward explanation.

      Gonna do mine this week and a coolant flush and etcs replacement since I just got the water pump done. Pretty straightforward?

      @@MrHorkster very. One thing I can say on mine is there's not much room to work on the lower bolt even with a 1/4 inch drive rachet, but still only took me like 10 minutes.

    Perfect, I know you cleaned the engine block side of the mounting area and didn't want to bore us. Thank you for this how to video. Nice light.

    Thanks for the video. Those bolts were super tight I had to use some serious strength lol. I put a 41 quart tub underneath and filtered and reused my fresh 15000 mile coolant.

    I know my way around cars pretty well. Just watched this for the hell of it because mine is stuck open. Glad I watched it. I would’ve found the damn thing eventually but that definitely wouldn’t have been the first place I looked lol

    Is it very difficult to remove the thermostat itself from the housing? Do you need any special tools for that? Very hard spring there. Thank you for the film.

    Find if you put a little die-electric grease on the O ring it helps hold it in place and does not degrade the O ring as it is a Silicone based grease.

    Working on my 97 and I’ve got less room to work than your car does, the two bolts won’t budge they’re so rusty. Any tips?

    So does ur car need to be cooled off when replacement of thermostat,or can it be hot??cuz I seen it smoking hot when coolant flowed out jus wondering!!

    • @tricksofthetrade4385
      @tricksofthetrade4385  3 роки тому +1

      You want it cooled down so you don't burn yourself. The antifreeze will be the same temperature your car runs at...most are 195-200 degrees

    The coolant you used says do not add water so having straight coolant and mixing water is not a Good idea...

    How much for all that work? If someone supplies the mechanic with parts.

    No need to bleed the system?

    • @tricksofthetrade4385
      @tricksofthetrade4385  Рік тому

      I didn't need to, but you might want to let it run for a minute or 2 with the cap off to bleed the air out.
