In this video I delete the muffler on my 2000 Camaro 3.8L V6 5 speed. This is my budget beginner track car and I needed to make the exhaust louder on the camaro so that I could safely hear my own vehicle while out on the track. These 3800's are known for rasp, and this is no exception, so I end up installing the cheapest resonator I could find.

      @@bluesxt Hmmm, I guess I must be a bit more dated than you, back in my high school days, we were always changing the points and condenser along with the plugs, cap, and rotor. When you run top line wires, they’ll usually outlast a couple sets of plugs unless you have headers and the wires get up against a tube or two. Edit: HEI distributors were still very new then and the first modules weren’t so good. If you come out one day and your engine won’t start, after verifying you have 12V at the battery lug on the HEI cap, take the rotor out and bend that center stainless steel tab up, then hold it up where it’s between you and a light, if you can see light through a pinhole in that tab, that will be your no spark problem. I worked on one of mine for almost a whole day before I found that. New rotor in and it fired right up. You can’t see the hole just looking at it, it’s so small you have to hold it up to a light to find it.

    That's quite a drastic change in sound levels. I could definitely hear when to shift gears with all that sound "telling" me what to do. Wouldn't have to read the tachometer all the time. Exhaust technology is very interesting. I've heard one could use the frequency of the exhaust pulses in a certain rev range and exploit their accompanying scavenging effects among the cylinders to calculate WHERE to install an H- or X-pipe. Mind you...that is IF you have the freedom to put such devices anywhere you like underneath the car. AS you know better than I, there are clearance issues involved. I'm fascinated how companies and individuals time the pulses and scavenging effects to get the sound effects they want over a specified area of the power curve. It's easy to see why so many people spend lots of money and time on it. I'm not sure...but maybe somewhere you have already captured some video of your tachometer and its readings when you're racing on the track. Maybe you can concentrate your attention on the rev range you use in racing and use that to help you calculate where want to put any exhaust devices in the machine. From your enthusiasm, I'd say you'll enjoy learning how to weld your exhaust. I've watched you become an expert at A/C maintenance, and I'm confident you would do well as a welder whenever you want to try mastering that discipline. In the meantime...enjoy racing! Aloha!

    I have a 1975 Chevy K10 that I've had to daily drive to work many times. When my other vehicles break I drive my old Chevy. She's always reliable. My truck has an Edelbrock 4 barrel carb. It's pretty much like a quadrajet. If I drive it every day I only need to give it 1 pump for it to start. If it sits for several days it does take a lot of pumps to start it. The fuel has just evaporated away I think. I'm assuming with your truck it could be the carb just needs a little adjusting or maybe there are some leaky gaskets. Its hard to say. Its an old truck ha ha. As long as it starts thats the main thing. A word of advice about the AC. I recently recharged the freon on my truck. I never had tried the AC in the 10 years I've owned it. After doing that the AC did mostly work but the high pressure line would freeze up. Turns out the orifice tube in the line was clogged up. That caused the blockage. So before you put freon in there, check that orifice tube! Anyways, thanks for sharing your beautiful C10 with us! Best of luck!

    you just saved me a lot of money! side note, weird issue I still have is the radiator fan only turns on when I have the A/C button on with the fan setting at any level except off. I thought using the AC was usually something that adds heat, but weirdly my radiator fan will kick right on when I turn on the AC only, I also tested it with the temp sensor unplugged and the AC button off, and it would not turn on. Then with or without the temp-sensor plugged in, it would only turn on once I turned on the AC. Im wondering if anyone knows if saturns have some kind of bypass where the AC motor automatically turns on the radiator fan, it would make sense since the AC draws heat and the radiator fan might naturally engage with AC on? Any thoughts? I am pretty sure my temp sensor is bad, but even with it unplugged the AC engages the radiator fan.

    • @bluesxt
      @bluesxt 2 місяці тому

      Typically turning the AC on will turn the fan on. This is in order to keep the AC functioning optimally when you’re sitting still in traffic. As for only turning on when turning AC on, the fans on these cars don’t kick on until 5/8 on the temp gauge!

    I don’t speak English well, so I’ll speak Russian. Я владею уже вторым Сатурном в России! Ну нравятся мне эти машинки, да вообще люблю американский автопром! Первый был SC 1995 года на МКПП, продал в конце 2021 года, т.к. собирался уезжать из РФ, не успел, война… Теперь жалею, что продал… Сейчас у меня SW 1999 года, на АКПП, купил в конце 2023 года. Вот появилась проблема, не заводится авто, даже стартер не крутит, для начала посмотрю проводку и реле, надеюсь где-то контакт отошёл. Thank you for video! Good luck!

    So how much did you pay for the car at the end? You said 200.00 off but what was the original price? I would not pay more than 1,500, no ac, needs tired, pulls to the right, electrical problems, no AC, transmission leaking, oil leaking, I would ask for 1,200.00 or walk away

    Just a tip for your future videos....try to get right to the point, minimize the talking and make the video more concise. Most people want to spend minimum time watching a video as their ultimate goal is simply to learn about their problem.
