Dealership makes adds to get people in the door, once they get you in they try to give you alternative and tell you the car got 4 other people interested and will be sold in hours or a day
When I bought my 21 Silverado last month I had to deal with a pushy salesman. I told him what I was looking for, he says he had it, he said he’d get the keys and meet me outside. I went outside. He brought keys to a much more expensive truck and asked me to check it out while he got the truck I wanted. I said no thx. He then said he didn’t have my truck but could get it from another car lot. Lol. I said no thx and went to a dealer my fam has worked w for years. Girl there did good. I got my truck from her.
I went to a dealership one to look at a Ford Focus I thought was a alright price and I read the add thirdly and looked at pics good and it looked like a good to go car so I just showed up while I was passing through town and asked about it and the first few words that come out the guys mouth was “ever heard of a mechanic special” 😂 they couldn’t even get it started for me
Had a similar experience in Alabama I drove 1000mi one way to pick up a 5th wheel camper. Dealer said it was perfect condition and maybe a few scratches on the front cap. After my 12hr trip they made me wait for 3 more hours so they could clean it up. When they finally let me go see it because they hid it off in the corner I was pissed to say the least. It had two tires blow out a rip both sides of it off leaving metal and fiberglass hanging into the new tires so it would only make it 20-30mi down the road before another tire blew out. The inside was worse I don't know what they cleaned for 3hrs but it wasn't this thing. The bulk head walls I could stick my hand through, doors were falling off water leaks everywhere it was destroyed I side. So I had I nice drive away from the family for 2 days and a couple hundred dollars is diesel wasted because someone couldn't tell me the truth about its condition.
Dealerships are a pain in the ass honestly. I bought my 2014 ram 1500 at a Toyota dealership. The truck had been traded in the day before and was dirty but like you said I got the chance to see it before they cleaned it up and hide any imperfections. Drives nice and had no issues plus it was one owner.took it home that day couldn’t pass it up
I think when u least expect it you’ll find your dream truck. For the LONGEST I was a Silverado fanatic BUT back in February decided to go truck shopping for Silverado EVERYWHERE in C-List and every dealership but no luck too pricey until I saw a used 18’F150 with ONLY 28K original miles and in very GREAT condition. I came for a Silverado but it was for the right price and got the F150. Came next day got it and man! I fell in love w her and it was unexpected. So be patient bro I’m VERY sure you’ll get your “DREAM TRUCK” and it’ll be well worth it. Sorry I didn’t mean to brag about this above just wanted to share that w you. Love ur channel btw and I support ya all the way bro. 💯👍🏽 #BIKELIFE&TRUCKLIFE
Had the same deal with a place here near Nashville. My dad called me from Birmingham (where he lives) and asked me to go check the vehicle out. He directed me to the listing and it showed the truck on the lot and it had a full description and address of the dealership, which was 40 minutes away from me. I get out there and it's a satellite lot of a bigger known dealership. When I say the name of the guy I reached out to earlier the guy just said "oh ok, come on in". It takes me 20 minutes until they finally tell me that guy doesn't work there, and that the vehicle I'm interested in is in Georgia at an affiliate lot and they'd ship it up here for me to take a look at and tried to get me to pay a "refundable" deposit in the transport just so I can look at it and etc etc etc and after an hour of wasting my time I finally left. That's not how you do business, man. The hell are these people thinking? Just be upfront and honest instead of trying to rope somebody in on some huge unnecessary process.
most likely it seems to me that these are flood vehicles some of these dealerships will buy a vehicle or multi vehicles that were in a flood and that's why they run like shit because the water gets filled up in them so that's why they Carfax didn't show any accidents but people might not report that the car was in a flood that's just my personal opinion
Pretty common..even with big dealerships. I traded in a canyon for a Silverado at a Chevy dealership and before I was done with the paperwork on the Silverado, the canyon was already listed for sale on their website. Still covered in mud lol
If u get a 3 valve do a mellings high pressure high volume oil pump which will elevate most of the timming set issues also Give you longer life from the motor
the 97-04 5.4 2V engines were good except shooting out spark plugs. The newer 3V engines suck with the cam phasers. That's Fords way of doing adjustable timing but they should have copied VTEC from Honda because it actually works and lasts forever. The 5.4L 3V was a good engine under warranty. After that, hell no. I passed on a 5.4 truck and ended up getting a 5.3L Chevy. Less problems even though I liked the Ford truck better.
as former service advisor for ford, techs only get paid 7/10's of an hr for used car insp. which includes oil change n break insp.....leaves no time for test ride or further inspection. Ive seen techs do 3 per hr...all guesstimation. Independent car lots are worse.
Every time you check an 5.4 2 valve or 3 valve ... rev the motor to 900rpms to 1200 rpms and hear for a rattle sound .. if you hear a rattle stay away. Common issue with these motors .
I had the same experience with scheduling an appt through an advertisement on cargurus and through the delearship website directly. It was my first car purchase. Car not ready. Not detailed. No inspection by their service team. The price was to good to pass up, so I agreed after I did my own inspection/test drive. And they had it detailed, couple things fixed before I paid. Battery still died within the first 30 days. And I needed to drive 1 hour out of my way each time - 3 times total to buy this car. I got a good deal, but delearships will do shady time-wasting things like this all the time.
*King Ranch Also don't buy a 3 valve 5.4. Cam phasers and spark plugs will drive you insane. The body style was one of my favorites, but the drivetrains were crap from 04-08.
Never ask for their best price because you won't get it. You tell them what you want to pay and let them counter. You must always drive the negotiations. If they play games, get up and walk. Also, telling them upfront you are paying cash will not get you as good a deal because they make money off of financing and warranty. And always be polite. Firm, but polite. Good Luck !!!
Probably 12 to 14 years ago I went to look at a 98 Ford ranger 4x4 pictures looked good vehicle looked good got there and the whole underside had been sprayed with undercoat it looked like it was done right before I got there because it was still wet looking said something to the salesman about it and he acted like he didn't know anything about it needless to say I left and did not buy it
I bought my 2013 f150 5.0 xlt at my local Kia dealer back in March 2017 and it’s been the best truck I’ve ever had. I’ll definitely buy another f150 for my next truck. Or maybe f250
A KIA dealer called me last week out of the blue, I asked them where they got my number and they finally admitted they buy local numbers from a third party. Starting about a month ago I started getting robo calls and when they called me I found it suspicious so I started asking questions.
Slam them on google reviews. What a waste of time. I'd be upset too because they just want to get you in the door and sell you something whether the truck you want is ready or not. I recently bought my 5.3L Z71 that way. Came in on trade, hadn't been touched yet, couldn't find the keys for 30 minutes. I made a lowball offer and they accepted but I've had to fix a bunch of stuff myself (windshield, door handle, shocks, tires, stereo, speakers, ignition key cylinder, and turn signal switch.
No surprise , went to look at a Silverado 2013 z71 the other day at a local Nissan dealership online price was listed at 16.5 i went asap to the dealer ship to see if I can get it at 14 or around there cash price and when I got there the truck had rust on the body wheel wells , Raul gate , doors ... surprised because the ad said it was in pristine condition 🙄
I hate dealerships and even dealing with individuals anymore. It's not like it used to be when I first started driving. You're looking at someone who would change vehicles once or twice a year. I LOVE wheeling and dealing! Not anymore though!! And it's depressing that people can operate that way and not even care. Secondly, I also HATE selling to the public. No single person is (i.e. Not a dealership) able to offer any kind of warranty when they sell a vehicle... I sold an escape and the lady let's her son take it mudding and then blows my phone up because it had a horrible shake afterwards.... DUH! I can't stand car dealing anymore and it used to be one of my favorite things to do!! In this situation, I'd contact BBB and just file a complaint, not for compensation, but so you know that the next person who drives there is LESS likely to go through what you went through.
@@lmfscrew the stories I could tell you... Drove almost two hours once to look at a Monte Carlo. The ad said that they hit a deer and replaced the fenders, pictures looked fine. Went and looked at it, fenders were replaced alright and then spray painted!! The seller did not post the AFTER pictures. Ridiculous!!
I have a small car lot (8-12) and used to work at a large dealership and the only thing that those large dealerships car about is bottom line and you out the door...I actually have an 05 King ranch for sale super crew if interested
I can attest to what your saying. I work at a chevy dealership and they want them cleaned and pictured for internet asap service comes later when or if they get to them.
Please don’t let this turn you off from buying one. If you can find one for a deal that makes sense for you I think it would be perfect for the channel. These trucks are getting more and more affordable and maybe you could do a build for high schoolers? Like what you would do if you had this truck in high school. Maybe a budget build?
Great video. I'm sure many of us have experienced such. I know I have some idiot dealership said a car was something it wasnt when went to go look at it. Some stupid racer had it before and beat it all to crap, looking at car for wife, the lipstick stood out. But cant disguise a pig. Had same thing happen when went to go buy a big horn. And it was beat internally guy used it for highway towing so couldn't trust the tranny and motor. But dealership said o its fine I'm not stupid looking at a brake booster. On right side of steering wheel. Was upsettin was good rate 2012 for 18k. Give or take.
A Ford dealership would not do this with a Ford product. Mileage is to high for a Ford dealership to try to sell. This was a trade in going to the auction. Usually trade in with this many miles on it are parked out back and mechanic specials or auction only vehicles. Certified cars is a Scam dealers use. Watch Scotty Kilmer youtube channel as much as you can. Good luck
Bingo that truck was going to the auction they had no plans fixing it and putting it on the lot. Its bs I worked at a dealership they do it all the time.
Wow, that sucks man. Had part of the same happen to me with an ad in a paper, and it was a bait and switch scheme. They not only did not have the car I was interested in, they wanted to sale me a car that had too many miles that they overpriced. Can definitely feel you on wasting your time. I would of done the same thing you did, drop the keys back in their hands, and tell them no. I’m passing on this, especially if oil is coming out the truck,. Only means it has problems, and the online ad was not truthful.
alot of dealerships post trucks for sale before even checking out the truck i went to look at a 2007 z71 and it had a flat tire and had a terrible exhaust leak and it had a rough idle same situation you were in!
Had the same expierience with this 08 chevy 1500 with the 6.0 in it. The tan leather had stains all over it the bed was all scratched up the tail gate wouldnt stay closed and it smelled like burnt oil. The guy was pissed when i called him out on it cause his ad said "like new"
Everyone keeps saying complain to BBB they are worthless anyone who can pay for BBB to keep their mouth shut. Better off going to the news about it. Dealerships and I mean every dealership buy used vehicles from auctions even wrecked ones if a dealership has a body shop they send them over redo the whole vehicle to look like new so that way it does not get reported to car fax that it was ever wrecked. Also they get these auctions dirt cheap and resell for triple or even more profit. Stay away from stealerships
I’d say u handles that great at dealership too as well. Also it’s your truck and your decision but yes I do think a Ford would be great for ur next vehicle on ur channel. Also would add for SUBs as well too. Ur truck ur decision again but I’d say try aim for a 15’-18’ model. 15-17 are same but the 18’s like I own has the new front ends which I REALLY do LOVE. Lol. Again I hope u find her bro and see the changes u do to it as u do all your vehicles. 🔥Ford F150🔥🤟🏽
I remember I brought a used 09 king ranch. When I closed the door to test ride, the inside driver mirror fell off. Salesman!!!!! THIS NOT GOING WELL ALREADY
Brooooo😭 I got a 07 king ranch 150 and when I saw your post on your insta story I got so hyped you got another 5.4 11th gen 150😭😭😭😭 I’m so sad cause these dealerships be lying bout this model badddddd
Shitty situation, I have a non related question! Seen the Dodge Ram in the background and I am looking to customize mine! Would you be able to help me with some ideas or questions I have?
Think about it. While it may not require the IQ of an astrophycisist, certainly to run a major car dealership requires a lot of knowledge and a penchant for attention to detail. I'm calling bullshit on their lie. It IS a lie, whether from the front end or back, someone is being deceptive. Things like this have helped to propogate the overall distrust and negative reputation of car dealerships. So again they either KNEW their add was grossly misrepresenting the vehicles in it. Which would mean they knowingly misrepresented the quality and condition of their vehicle(s) Up Front. OR they were completely oblivious to the vehicles condition (which may be part of their strategy to claim "ignorance" in order to shun accountability. On the Back End. In conclusion I would stay away from them and also put the word out so others might avoid being scammed. They deserve to lose the business of as many potential customers as possible, since they obviously lack integrity and respect for their relationships with customers. Why would you even consider giving them additional chances to decieve you?
Lo ball a price and walk away. The truck will likely go to auction and they won't get much for it. They won't fix nothing. It was likely a trade in and they low balled the trade in.
I found a truck at the dealership before I liked call told him what time I was going to be there and the truck had never even been over there and they didn't even tell me that
"...To own the F-150 you should be having a daughter, Bro. That's why I don't take the used Escort too personally. It pops well, nobody wants to put more weights. I can think by myself the way you do. Nobody in the business will mind what could be better for US." 🗨😘🥂
Something similar happened to me, I had a ranger with only 92k miles on it and this guy wanted to trade me for a f150 and when I go there and take a look under the truck the I see a big oil leak and he was like oh I only saw a drop of oil not a big oil leak, and then he was getting all bitchy to me and so I told him I am not gonna trade you abs the guy wanted to call he police on me and I was like WTF

Dude you already have the best of the best. You should do a square body Chevy build
As a mechanic I advise staying away from the 5.4 3v, go for a little newer with the 5.0 motor
I would concur. I've done a few timing chains/exhaust manifolds/broken spark plugs on these motors.

It’s actually pretty normal. All these places use text services, and know it it’s easy to spot them now.
If u get a 3 valve do a mellings high pressure high volume oil pump which will elevate most of the timming set issues also Give you longer life from the motor
And run a oil pressure guage to monitor the pump
I used to work at a dealership and that’s how they do it sell it first then fix it after you buy it so you have to pay for it, they are all scumbags

alot of dealerships post trucks for sale before even checking out the truck i went to look at a 2007 z71 and it had a flat tire and had a terrible exhaust leak and it had a rough idle same situation you were in!
1cent def not lol
Do a squat truck build
That truck is the exact one I want the lariat
Had the same expierience with this 08 chevy 1500 with the 6.0 in it. The tan leather had stains all over it the bed was all scratched up the tail gate wouldnt stay closed and it smelled like burnt oil. The guy was pissed when i called him out on it cause his ad said "like new"
Like why try to hide it when people will obviously see it in person.
Who knows and i really wanted a 1500 chevy with a 6.0 in it lol oh well
Everyone keeps saying complain to BBB they are worthless anyone who can pay for BBB to keep their mouth shut.
It sucks, but that's how the good dealerships act. You should see the bad ones!!
It’s king, singular. King ranch.
Look at me. i'm the captain now. It's kings ranch.
Don't make a mistake of being found on road dead...
7:40 how fast do you think I can read?!
Pause the video....
lmfscrew I got it
What's up with the green F150 in the stall next to yours?
Thats ol Larry the lariat. 97 2wd 5.4.
Chill with the ads during videos..really ramped up since you discovered how much people were making on YT
Call the B B B. back in the day we called that bait and switch. Nowadays you just got clickbaited.
Report them to the bbb.
I had full intention to buy it had it not been clapped lol
Shitty situation, I have a non related question! Seen the Dodge Ram in the background and I am looking to customize mine! Would you be able to help me with some ideas or questions I have?
This happens all the time in Gadsden and Birmingham Alabama. It’s discouraging!
BamaZ71 I went and looked at a z71 I’m forte payne today yea it happened to me
Ford king ranch is beautiful
You mean kings ranch lol
Watched every add in this video all the way through so I can help you get your money back😂
Dude. You are a freakin legend!!! lol
Lo ball a price and walk away. The truck will likely go to auction and they won't get much for it. They won't fix nothing. It was likely a trade in and they low balled the trade in.
You lost me at 11:00 you said you walked out to look at the lariat and hop in it but then start describing the King ranch
I said the salesman told me they had a lariat i should go look at when i was going to drive the kr. So i got in the kr to drive up to the lariat.
@@lmfscrew ohhh I gotcha

"...To own the F-150 you should be having a daughter, Bro. That's why I don't take the used Escort too personally. It pops well, nobody wants to put more weights. I can think by myself the way you do. Nobody in the business will mind what could be better for US." 🗨😘🥂
sounds like a flood vehicle
King Ranch would be nice, I got a 2010
At least you were not sold a 2019 scat pack challenger that was already sold.
If the ford truck didn’t have a center shift I wasn’t interested 😅😅
If I see a something for sale like that I look the dealership up and call their main number. You dodged a bullet by not buying a 14 year old 3 valve.
it’s a ford...
Ford is a great brand that makes lots of great vehicles. I'm not a brand loyalist.
@@lmfscrew watch this it will make you angry for the owner of this 2019 f150 ua-cam.com/video/xzTT6tt9JOY/v-deo.html

Lmfscrew What’s ur spending range on a truck?? Maybe your Subs can help u find one for u..
