I was really hoping for this from the show, and less "then the Brotherhood came back and won because they were cooler and the NCR died the end".
edit: I obviously didn't mean the Brotherhood beating the NCR, I mean the way they've somehow been Deus-Ex Machina'd into the strongest faction when they were practically wiped out on the West Coast.

I only partly agree. BoS leadership is clearly incompetent. Otherwise they would use their technological superiority to their advantage by using hit-and-run tactics to devastate NCR backland with their superior mobility and firepower and avoid large scale battles where logistics dictates who will win.

Tbf, Helios One, while an amazing strategic asset, is a shitty place to try and defend. Combine that with Elijah’s obsessive desire to posses it for the mere chance that they could locate the C-Finder (which they never did, go figure), and underestimating the NCR due to their technological superiority, they couldn’t have held Helios. Retreating to the bunker would’ve been a better bet from the get-go instead of looking for a miracle weapon.
Holding Helios One was strictly due to Elder Elijah’s obsession with the knowledge and tech held at the facility. And once the brotherhood chose to abandon the facility they were able to break right through the NCR lines and escape
I love how the knights in their power armor transition from standing out front like walking tanks to ducking cover like normal (albeit bulky) infantry. It really shows the NCR's tactics are working.
The shift between them standing tall, almost ignoring the bullets pinging off their armor to helping wounded comrades over the strewn corpses of power armor and huddling in cover really sells how mortal they’ve become.
Power Armor May have armor heavy enough to make the user SEEM like a man shaped tank. But even if those rockets aren't HEAT and just HE alone, those things must be PACKING payload, armor or not, your body will be turned to mush if you let them get a good hit.

Once you're facing a dug-in firing line, standing out to catch every round imaginable becomes less enticing.
Yup BOS be stupid, even in power armour you seek cover you stay low and out of sight your armour is the LAST thing you should count on to protect you not the first.
@@Svenne-man-1880 I wouldn’t necessarily call it stupid. The biggest concern with a firefight is trying to gain the initiative so you can control the battlefield. Whether being to break contact or fully engage the enemy. Seeing as how option 1 is impossible, they’re trying for option 2 with the hope of doing enough damage to the attackers to consider leaving. When your opponent for the most part has been using small arms weaponry and you have heavier stuff it only makes sense to use it. Especially when your heavier stuff is akin to a walking tank. Staying behind the line only incentivizes the enemy to advance even further to hopefully engage at closer distances to do more damage.

Power armor isn’t full-body protection, its 95% protection with the other 5% being joints and things that need to freely move, it wouldn’t be uncommon for a well-placed shot or just enough fire to end up hitting a power armor’s neck or behind the elbows, armpits, esc. They are always depicted as invincible to small arms but in reality if you magdump into one a few rounds will find their way into those weakspots. Good to see a marksman take advantage of that fact.
Those areas is would expect habing SOFT armor instead of Hard plating, so probably those spots have a decent amount of Kevlar or Aramid frabric along the internal shock absorbing fabric, so i guess that unless you get a lucky enough hit with a Combat or Service Rifle at a shorter range, where you are likely to NOT be if under PA'ed Paladin suppressive fire, you ain't punching through the armornplate gaps.
It clearly required the Brotherhood Paladins being caught in surprise with the Sapper team's Line formation and suppressive RL fire to make a mistake of not covering their backs by keeping someone in front when they turned. They know the enemy has Snipers after all, and it took a 7,62mm spot on shot to get through that gap.
Yeah, I remember a note from New Vegas where 2 scavengers explained how they managed to take on 1 Brotherhood knight, all because of extensive veteran experience from the NCR-Brotherhood war. You can find them around the railroad near Nipton
@@andrehashimoto8056 I really don’t think a layer of flexible kevlar cloth is able to stop 5.56, standard m855, its designed to help mitigate projectiles and be a good sleeve for real armor. Maybe shrapnel and mid-range buckshot but not much else. Going back to my original point, if you saturate the front of any power armor with rounds, a few of them should hit weak spots and severely injure the wearer. Knees, armpits, elbows, wrists, fingers, neck, thighs, ankles, all of these things need to move freely which means they can’t be cladded in steel plates. Not even in the front.
Comparing to medieval plate armor and combat, most wore a layer of chainmail underneath, and then maybe a gambeson under that, because many parts of medieval plate armor would be exposed and susceptible to attack due to design, most swordfighting was more like wrestling where you try to slip a blade in between their plates. A dozen NCR troopers shooting you will eventually “slip their blades in between your plates” and you wouldn’t be as much of a walking invincible tank.

For real. As a Halo and Titanfall fan, both of his short films were some of my favorite recent content from those franchises.
I kinda expected a heroic charge of the leader of the BoS to take out the Sappers, but the Sentinels are also promising quite a sight.
Main issue is the NCR has killed enough of the soldiers that the power armor is the only thing keeping the facility from getting overrun. Given the NCR’s willingness to trade lives if it gets them a tactical advantage a chance like that to gut the soft underbelly of the brotherhood isn’t likely to be passed up. Once they get the sentry bot’s up to hold the line it’s likely they’ll be able to change.
I don't think they can afford that as we dunno how many sappers there are and how limited the BOS are in numbers and how the NCR outnumber them so by a lot
Looks like they are planning on withdrawing. Sentry Bots can cover the retreat as it is pretty obvious to the Paladins that time and their manpower is running out against escaping the ever tightening noose around their necks.
Even if they kill the closest sappers there are probably more behind even further lines. Its too risky

@@Pilps I wouldn't count on GW for anything besides digging 40k deeper into the mud, I lost any hope for them when they aggressively shut down so many loyal animators a few years ago, which is probably why you won't find Sodaz's 40k SFMs on his channel anymore, that's the kind of reward fans can expect from GW.

GW didn't go after anybody really. They just tweaked their copyright policy to were it went "Don't commercialize our content and make original stuff (don't rip models, which sadly a lot of animators do)."
To basically your work is at risk at any time unless you ask directly for permission. Since a lot of people had years of investment in their projects. It wasn't worth continuing that work when you could spend months on something only for it to get shut down the next day.

Notice how the "flaw" in the Power Armor was at a joint and not welding at the thickness part of the armor. Makes much more sense for the joints to be the weaker parts, and not near thick parts of armor

That flaw was only on the T-45 and T-60 suits. The T-60 is a retrofit upgrade of the T-45 with better materials and technology, however the design flaw was never fixed in the T-60 evidently. The Brothehood here are using T-51s, and it's an entirely new design that doesn't have the design flaw in the chest plate welding. It was never adopted in mass pre-war due to it's high cost. It was much cheaper to upgrade existing T-45 suits to T-60.
The welding is a flaw in MANUFACTURING! NOT DESIGN!

I know these are called WIPs but they might as well be episodes in an ongoing series and I love it.
What I love most about this series is how Sodaz is portraying a realistic situation where the power armored force loses.
Exploit their overconfidence to spread them out, then combined arms attack with anti-tank and heavy sniper cover. And getting that across by showing us scenes from back and forth across the lines is really, really good.
Really my only issue (besides minor nitpicks) is the NCR's apparent precognition, like being able to accurately predict jetpack troopers and whatnot. That's not something their initial scouts would've seen, and it certainly wasn't widely available technology even pre-war.

What, the NCR only won helios 1 because of their ability to throw soldiers at the enemy till they ran out of ammo, that's the by-lore reasoning helios 1 was lost, they were expending ammo they couldn't afford to just throw around, the NCR lost thousands of men fighting the BOS at helios 1 and only got it because of the lack of ammo on the brotherhood's end.

@@sipofsunscorchedsarsaparil6052 Well the only other way is if someone in the NCR managed to catch a glimpse of the jetpacks in action. NCR/BOS did have an alliance at one point when they both attacked Navarro to destroy the Enclave remnants left on the west coast its likely the BOS used the jet packs there and the after action reports made it back to leadership in NCR. This allowed the NCR to come up with contingencies which is why they attacked from that unguarded high ground. If the BOS had no jet packs then they had high ground and a commanding view of the battlefield practically uncontested. If they did have jet packs then the contingency plan went into action and made sure the soldiers enacting it were well rehearsed and drilled to pull it off.

don't know if colonel Moore is on operation sunburst as there is no official lore mention the NCR side's Leadership. But since she is not like your diplomatic path with BOS. She may involve with it.
Maybe she was a major when she commanded the operation and was promoted to colonel for her performance.
Compared to how lackluster the BoS-NCR siege was from the show, it's refreshing to see an actual battle with actual tactics

when they've gotten the idea of where the NCR camp was, they should've sent out Recon to scout out the defenses to prevent things like running their vertibirds full of knights and initiates into AA missiles

As a lover of power armor, seeing realistic counters to it is so satisfying. Making PA so common in the game and then making the dinkiest of guns not only fully capable of damaging it but also causing health damage to the player within it with every shot always felt cheap and unearned. Seeing a sniper wait until a key moment of a Paladin turning his back and shooting the weak rear knee armor and thus, kneecapping the guy was fragging beautiful. And seeing the heavy weapons tear straight through their lines and cause Paladin's to retreat filled me with trepidation.
PA is overpowered and thus, in a game, should be rare, but it's also not invulnerable and opportunistic enemies and those with heavy weapons are going to tear into you. This is awesome!
The T51b is just overrated, there is a reason why they got replaced by the T60

Heck, this chapter of the BoS came to the Mojave wanting to take Hoover Dam, but that place is strictly civilian/critical infrastructure. There’s nothing military or high tech to be gained from it

Most chapters we are aware of,like lost hills and east coast actively traded for technologies they wanted using either currency or medical or other useful technology for waste landers,like lost hills had regular trade going on with the Hub before the war. There probably are more groups that take technology straight up,but that is expected from the BoS,they are hardly a linear group

The show is everything I expected and more.
NCR won Helios, but Brotherhood only ones left standing in the end. All lore concerns explained in first season. It's writing is quality , consistent with previous lore just takes couple unexpected turns for some maybe, almost as many twists and turns as a good season of the old G.O.T. I was pleasantly surprised, and impressed. So many bitter guys slammed the show before the first episode dropped claiming it was completely lore inaccurate or "woke" etc..I bet those same guys have watched the whole season like 10 times over by now and are waiting impatiently for second season to drop.
I knew the series would be good from the first teaser trailer . I said it upfront on the comments sections so many were slamming it. One time I'm glad to be able to say "I told you so"

The show isn’t bad, but there’s definitely Chinese market shilling in the script. The show is good, but definitely not great. So, the “I told you so” isn’t sticking with me. I want another season to fully judge this show. Cause recency bias is killer for a lot of stuff. Lucy, Coop, and Maximus are good characters.
For someone who has watched the show multiple times, you missed a lot of details. The Brotherhood isn’t the only ones standing, they are just as bad off as the other factions, they’re untrained and faltering as mentioned in the show. We don’t know what happened to the NCR, considering Shady Sands sign says “first capital” meaning the NCR most likely had a new capital. Even on the official wiki Lee Moldaver isn’t really NCR (she’s a rogue faction) most likely left after the NCR pulled out. The Enclave still exist. We don’t know of the Legion. I doubt two of the most popular factions are gonna be blasted like that. Then again, Todd Howard has always had a hard on for the BOS. So, we’ll see.

This is how the battle in the show should've been. I hated how everyone was just blindly changing towards each other, shooting at each other with machine guns and taking cover behind picnic tables
Tbf, the batch of NCR units in that show are disorganized and unprepared. The brotherhood knights are more untrained and undisciplined but yeah they should've had better tactics instead of barging into their base straight away (I mean they still won but still had a decent number of losses that would've been prevented lol)
Shock and Awe, the BOS first wave comes charging in before the NCR has a chance to set up defenses. 2nd wave finishes off what's left of the NCR which is why the Ghoul wants to leave before the 2nd wave arrives. Besides it's the usual Marine tactic in storming the beaches and maybe other locations.
watch earlier episodes of this project. They did just that before wising up and get some cover

Yeah, again, Fallout 4 has bad writing, But its handling of making stuff bigger really helps.
4’s art direction may be a mixed bag but the stuff that is good, is very good.

I agree. Small part if me was hoping for the classic design, but I'm not disappointed.
This series has got to be one of the best battle sequences I've ever seen in media. Everything about it is just so perfect. The pacing is fantastic, all the models and visuals look amazing, the sound effects and voice acting is top-tier, and the best part is how believable and realistic everything is, despite the sci-fi setting. The strategy the BoS and NCR use, the tactics of the soldiers, and the progression all feel like they could take place in a real combat setting. At no point do I need to suspend my disbelief, it feels like I'm watching something that could actually happen in real life (hopefully not though.)
I could rewatch this series a dozen times and have it still amaze me; I eagerly await the next videos!
The battle scene in the Fallout series looks nothing like what we see here. This is a masterpiece!

What I love about this is that there's no slow-motion part to showcase the "horrors of war" and kill the mood.

Oh man, the way that sniper hit the power armor leg joint through all the chaos was amazing!

Yeah I think the only issue with sunburst is that's it's overexaggerating the battle at helios one, the BOS didn't deploy any sentrybots during the battle, the only ones that seem to have been deployed were to cover the retreat inside the basement level of helios one, but who knows how those activated and were brought, most likely only turned on when the plant itself was activated, and how they're overplaying the NCR and underplaying the BOS, NCR just threw thousands of soldiers at the BOS in helios and made them lose like 90% of their ammo supply, which forced a retreat, hell there's only two confirmed people to have died at helios on the BOS's end (veronica's parents)

Every time I think this battle couldn't escalate even more, SodaZ shows up and proves me wrong in the most impressive way possible.
It's astounding that one person can create such a great battle scene with good action, understandable tactics and a solid narrative.

My guy making better fallout content than amazon at the moment. (no hate for the show, I like it, with some exceptions) but i mean literally every minute and a half video u put out on this has got me more excited & pumped than anything else. I mean those sentry bots at the end had me going like: *leaps from chair & starts jumping almost ecstatically* "The NCR's fuuuuuuuuuuu*ked!"

I really like the transition to a more story-like film where we actually have characters to focus on as the battle starts to come to a close. The drama doubles down on the impacts soon to come

@@013wolfwarrior they died when she was a child or young teen, "Fighting for a bunker no one remembers", she barely remembers them, thats why she went to the Mojave with Elijah, she had no one else, especially after she and Christine got separated.
There is plenty of space to maneuver around black Mountain. The game scales it down a lot.

@@jidk6565The show is fine the way it is... It wouldn't make sense in context if Helios one battle was in the show.. Unless one of the protagonists was there as a combatant. And that was shown in flash backs. Goggins character was in T45 pa at battle of Anchorage, not Helios. At least that's as much as we know so far. Let the show be what it is and appreciate it for what it is , even the best shows , movies about any particular verse cannot be expected to contain everything that every fan wants in it yeah.

I'm honestly rooting for the NCR to win. They rely on heavy numbers, diversions, and berserker tactics, with Bazookas and snipers as their main hitters. The brotherhood has the defensive advantage, sentries, and power armor to counter most of them. I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE MORE OF THIS SOON!!!
