One thing i particularly like about the battle for helios one is despite the fact it was a decive victory for the NCR,it also showed how deadly the BOS is. They inflicted high casualties in an horrible position,and when they decided to leave,with like half the chapter lost already,they just easly broke through the NCR lines and made it to hidden valley. BOS is the epitomy of quality over quantity,to the point,i only think the enclave was greater in the field before the events of fallout 3. With the east coast BOS building up forces there is a lot of potential for story telling right there
Don’t also forget that a BoS chapter successfully raided and destroyed the NCR gold mines rendering their currency to practically zero of itself as now a lot of places if not all NCR territories resort to using Caps as the popular currency. As the government continues to ship out NCR dollar only protected by the government word and value and no longer valued by gold
I mean the BOS armed forces are comprised of pre war level trained with a full lifetime of experience paladins and fully equipped elite soldiers in the best pre war military equipment available power armour that turns them into literal walking tanks(advanced power armour is post war technically)
Going up against a light industrial state mostly comprising of conscripted troops with semi automatic rifles and basic body armour who have 2 weeks of training tops with limited numbers of elite well armed troops that use actual pre war military equipment and have solid training and experience.
Yeah the NCR are going to have struggle to actually inflict any casualties at all against the main fighting force of the BOS and suffer major casualties to even come close to an opportunity to yo even bare the weapons and troops even capable of kill a single paladin.
Hell the BOS with the massive NCR deployment surrounding them only suffered half their numbers in casualties because their insane elder had them commit to the position.
Well the NCR is screwed once the eastern BOS showed up later with their open recruitment and tough training due to their experience in the super mutant wars in the east. Worst thing is that the eastern BOS controls vault 79 the vault that has all the pre war gold reserves. So the eastern BOS can back their caps with gold and can hire a lot of mercs to do their fighting.

@@oyahziI believe that’s another reason in show the NCR has collapsed the east coast brotherhood came back for the home chapter. Now they have a Maxon at the head of the brotherhood again the ncr stands no chance

I was so sad when moore told me to destroy the BOS but immediately happy when the dialogue option with the elder popped up.

I think the Brotherhood would have stood a chance if they decided to actually recruit skilled wastelanders, or even sympathetic Enclave member (although those would be few and far between).
They do recruit them but they have to be sponsored by someone at knight rank or higher (could be wrong on the exact rank)

The Brotherhood have been helping and screwing people over. Fallout 2 and 3 Brotherhood are the good guys.
In Fallout 1 the Brotherhood helped stop the Master, helping attack Mariposa and the Cathedral. Your just bias against them.
Although they did lose the war eventually you have to give credit to the Brotherhood. The war just shows how dangerous the Brotherhood is. In the beginning of the war they were kicking the NCRs ass with guerrilla warfare. Furthermore when NCR were asking Helios One entire platoons of NCR soldiers died and it took a rather long time to wrestle the power plant from the Brotherhood.

But then a random Vault Dweller arrived, blew up the NCR, then left.
Fallout, Fallout never changes.
I think people overestimate the Brotherhood's technological edge over the NCR. The NCR had access to a lot of pre-war tech themselves.
Shady Sands was already built up to almost pre-war levels by FO2. Their rangers had combat armor and high quality military weapons. They had access to the technology in Vault 15. The Gun Runners had a factory manufacturing military equipment. The NCR was about to annex Vault City. They were trading with San Francisco, which had technology on the level of the Brotherhood. And the NCR took over Navarro and recovered some of the Enclave's weapons.
Sure, the average NCR soldier wasn't as well equipped as a Brotherhood soldier, but when they needed to, the NCR could have brought in weapons to match the Brotherhood. And the NCR had scientists and engineers working hard to relearn and rebuild pre-war tech.
Yeah, just look at the weapons the troopers in the Divide had
The main technological gap was the power armour one. The NCR simply did not know how to wear power armour, as seen by New Vegas’ heavy troopers who wear power armour which has had the servomotors stripped out. Power armour is described as bringing a soldier nearly up to the strength and resilience of a tank, but the stripped out power armour merely gives you the resilience.
This manifested as the NCR having to fight dozens of tanks while having none of their own. On the surface it was manageable in the end because rangers with anti-material rifles can punch through that armour, but in the corridors of brotherhood bunkers, the NCR were just feeding troopers into meatgrinders.
Too bad the show took out our beloved faction. No more ncr bc the show is canon
The Brotherhood's edge is being able to maintain and produce more of what they have (excluding power armor). Sure, the NCR might be able to loot a few guass rifles, but they can't maintain or make more ammunition for them, let alone make more of them.

Vaults are useful for rebuilding society (via GECK and the like making it so you can actually farm) but aren't actually all that impressive when it comes to production. As for weaponry, outside of niche specialist experiments like with the Boomers vaults have a security force and appropriate weapons to go with it - SMGs, some rifles, maybe a few grenades, etc.

Which has advanced medical technology, not BoS/Enclave tier weapons. The BoS have access to a large amount of advanced medical tech themselves, including a literal medical supercomputer in F2. Plus, the annexation of Vault City by NCR is one of the 'bad' endings. Given all protagonists have been good so far, I doubt it happened.

San fran is advanced but were also pretty racist - and while a major partner, arming them would be a very poor idea given how expansionist they are, both of which would cut down trade. They also weren't quite on the level of the BoS weapons wise - they surpassed them in some areas, but in others they lagged behind. After all, the Brotherhood were surprised at the Enclave being more advanced then them while having a literal chapter house in SF - if san fran was THAT good, it'd be mentioned at least once.

Yes, but these get used up, as NCR cannot really maintain or resupply anything they loot off the Enclave (or BoS, for that matter).
It's stated pretty much everywhere in-game and out that the BoS are significantly more advanced then the NCR and lost in spite of that because of dogmatic leadership and being unable to replace casualties effectively.

A better option the brotherhood could have took was to intergrate themselves into the ncr,such as having elders run for the ncr congress and president,greater military cooperation, share non military scientific and historical research and do anything to influence the ncr, preventing it from going down the same path as the old USA

It what the brotherhood was founded on in their codex to support and then integrate into a democratic society
But decades of isolation and a superiority complex on who can use technology. They were never going to relegate themselves to a position that has them see themselves as equals to outsiders and would find some excuse to not follow the codex.
The BOS where founders of the NCR, it’s just that they never took advantage of that in the early days.
The state of Maxson’s existence was their chance.

the NCR isn't GONE GONE but severe weakening makes entire sense and they were set up for this in FNV. the NCR had already overextended themselves, large parts of it's territiory didn't want to be NCR territory, they had super corrupted institutions, they (probably) lost the Mojave war, and they made many, many, many enemies.

Even if they would have wanted to, they wouldn't be able to, as much as I love the NCR, they got a lot weaker in the show, it doesn't mean that they are out of the fight yet
I think the East Coast Brotherhood could give the NCR a run for their money. The who problem with the Brotherhood of Steel in the west was their dwindling numbers, but Maxon’s Brotherhood recruits many people from all over. They still might not have as many troops as the NCR, but they do have the ability to fly their highly trained fully armored troops right into the heart of whatever the New NCR capital city is (RIP Shady Sands). At least this is all true as long as the Institute ending isn’t canon.

Probably phenomenally better than the west coast BOS did lol
it's kind've hard to tell how the midwest does things because we caught them in the middle of a crisis. the average midwestern soldier is far, far inferior to the average traditional BoS soldier, but there's a lot more of them, and they're probably better trained/experienced then the average NCR soldier, even if their equipment is more erratic.

Been hearing theories that the Amazon series is in fact main timeline and that the House ending to New Vegas is the cannon ending. My buds and I think that if this is the case, then the NCR has collapsed in some form or fashion being as they were already overstretched in New Vegas; giving way to a power vacuum the BoS is more than happy to fill given what we have seen so far.

When in the fallout tv show, they have to make the power helmet fold up like the Iron Man helmet because the audience is too stupid to understand anything that doesn't look like a Marvel movie.
Hope the story is decent, at least. It boggles my mind that after many of these video game adaptations fail because they never hire writers who are fans of the games and know the lore, they still keep hiring them and then the shows writing doesn't feel accurate to the games.
And the Fallout 4 style is fine, I actually like it but just for that game and it's Boston setting.

Apparently, Todd said not to give a clear answer to what happens in the games, so I assume he means Fallout New Vegas because that's the only recent game on the West Coast.
I do want to know what happened after Lonesome Road, though. And how the NCR got affected by the endings of it and the base game to, of course.
Same here. Based on the destroyed town of shady sands seen in the trailer for the show, I think they plan to have the NCR post-nuke in some capacity. I wouldn’t be mad if Ulysses had succeeded. However, I’m certain now that was an easter egg red herring.
I have no expectations for the show being good to the lore. Only a ham fisted explanation why a Vault went unnoticed by both The Master and the NCR in the Boneyard.

We dont have a canon ending but I'd be curious to know if a hypothetical truce btwn the Mojave BoS and NCR facilitated by the courier woule do anything to ease the tension btwn the NCR and the rest of the BoS chapters out west
I think the implication from the end slides is that it officially ends the war, but I bet people on both sides are very salty about it

You are confusing the tenacity of the roman republic, the numerous consuls who preceded Scipio and Fabio Cunctator with Scipio Africanus himself.
I could have been more specific and probably used an image if the Scipio I was referring to, which I did look but couldn’t find a good one. I was speaking of Scipio the consul and father to Scipio Africanus, who faced off against Hannibal in Italy. Sure, I could have made it a point to include the Senate and Tiberius Sempronius Longus, and continued on to talk of Scipio Africanus, to distinguish the two, but this isn’t a video on Roman History.

Caesar doesn’t accept ideas that are not his and the Khans identity and beliefs are completely annihilated when they are assimilated. I wish we could see legion horses that would be sick!

The Brotherhood should've teamed up with The Legion.
I certainly think both factions are a force to be reckoned, but the NCR simply has more resources and people. The BoS certainly has the technology, but they don’t have any real kind of manufacturing system. The NCR has plenty of factories and scientists relearning old tech, plenty of agriculture, etc.
Even still there’s a very simple way that I think the NCR shows it’s superiority: it’s higher standard of living within its borders. They have democracy, currency, civil rights, etc. (though all of those are a little bumpy,) Being a citizen of the NCR is a lucky thing.
Idk, maybe I’m a bit patriotic to the west coast, but I’d certainly prefer living in the NCR with my civil rights and good living conditions than living in the BoS and being seen as a means to an end, only to retrieve old technology forever. I still think the BoS is incredibly well written, but the NCR is my favorite.
They had more resources? They solely depended heavily on dwindling scavenged pre-war resources, not to mention the collapse of the economy due to losing the gold mine, a failed Mojave campaign, Brahmin Barron's milking them dry, corruption within their politics, loss of their leadership after shady sands, and finally the BOS delivering the finishing blow to their remnants. It's like Caesar said. It lost its virtue and no longer serves the greater good. It wasn't built to last, only to have the inevitable hasten by vault tec and its carcass pick off by vultures in power armor and raiding gear.

The only reason the brotherhood couldn’t hold helios one any longer was because they almost ran out of ammo…. Yeah it is mentioned in the wikipedia, they would’ve lasted way longer.
They could have charged right in (assuming power armor is like in 4, not 3 and NV) in reality
Lorewise East Coast (FO3) and West Coast (1-2-VB-NV) BOS are not nation-building factions. "obsidian"-MF-IP-BI made nation faction in pair like NCR against Legion, Calculator-Reaver-Latham against Midwest BOS, and at the same time the West Coast BOS as a minor faction that strictly follow their "ethos" for player to explore their story, lore and quest, while they are inside the frame, there will always be bigger factions at play against each other but not the BOS. The war between east/west BOS against NCR or Legion would be won by nation-state factions if we draw from "real-life" law.
No matter how elite, strong, or invincible it seems your armies are, you can not defeat a modern nation that is too big to fail, different cases with a historical empire. The show or the game won't show us a lorewise California with a functioning modern cities, communication tech, roads, public amenities, supply lines, logistic, working vehicle, Cavalry, Navy, Airforce and hundreds of farms. Bethesda is trying to keep the wasteland image in the east and the west, wasteland is much easier to maintain (gamewise and storywise).

I hate that criticism of Bethesda like they’re trying to keep the wasteland uncivilized, that’s not even remotely true if you think about it. You purify the water in Fo3 and in Fo4 you can join multiple factions and even build your own from the ground up on the side and even use them in the main quest if you choose to..
The fact that the new mechanics introduce settlement building which actually is actually giving you the reigns to civilize the commonwealth where as everything in NV happened off screen.
Thats such a terrible take, and furthermore the NCR has a lot of major problems crippling them so having them just progress without setbacks isn’t really that ideal or compelling. Yes they’re the largest and most organized faction it’s also bloated and corrupt. General Oliver is an incompetent muppet raised to his status due to political favor and isn’t ready to face Legate Lanius and House is really the only one ruling the Mojave. The expansions under President Kimball is spreading them thin with a resurgent BoS in the show and a seemingly inevitable defeat in the Mojave will put the NCR on life support.
@@sercravenmohead3631 That's liberally what they said in their press conference years back, that you as the "player" that can change the outcome so the stories and that change is moving with you (project purity and minuteman) you as the player are the one that rebuilding the wasteland, not the NPC.
While the other studios already have a head start on the west coats so they choose NV as their wasteland (both are the same in tha manner), we can see how both try to update their stories and lore with time but Bethesda as the "owner" of Fallout will keep it as a wasteland (3, 4 and NV but at the same time we got update from DC and Cali) this is the spirit of the new Fallout story and its diffrent from the midwest era. Without wasteland of some kind, there will be no Fallout. It's their new niche, that's why they made the old playground as a nest for the factions turf, so when we as a player move on to the next playground the old faction already become a nation but we won't be playing in that civilized area (might be in small quantity).
@@adeptusmechanicushyspasist3529 Well yeah it just wouldn’t be fallout if it wasn’t a wasteland, it pushes plots for improving quality of life and banding together factions that control the wasteland but it’s never gonna be a post nuclear reboot. It will exist in “stasis” to preserve the identity and setting. I think both Obsidian and Bethesda are consistent about this, they don’t want to over do it and make the mistake of changing Fallout from its roots. I see the East coast as being the “less civilized” because massive factions have yet to grow and consolidate it. Which in the Commonwealth was attempted but as the player you can change that with the minutemen, which blows the conspiracy of Bethesda perpetuating the “wasteland” when you’re proactively trying to help build civilization.
the FO4 BoS is absolutely nation building, and so is the show BoS, by apperances.
Honestly, if there was a full power west BoS versus full power Legion, BoS wins. The Legion struggle with beating the mojave Brotherhood into retreat in their ending (where you don't blow up the bunker), and this is after they lost half their combatants. take a look at what happened to the Legion when they try hunting down a single veritbird fire team, too.
the Legion might be able to replace their losses somewhat easier then the BoS (they can go annex another tribe, but this takes work, or if they're really desperate they could start recruiting from their tribute settlements) but Legion tactics just don't work against a force like the BoS. The Legion try to be a flowing, overruning force, but the BoS are a twenty foot high brick wall, and they didn't bring any sledgehammers.

NCR can't even win against a bunch of machete wielding fux, how'd you expect them to beat Eastern BoS with more advanced technology than Western BoS?

There 2 reason for that:
1. Mojave campaign of NCR is not popular back west majority of NCR people doesn't support imperialistic they do or majority of population doesn't hear the story in the Mojave This statement is reinforced by an npc named ranger hanlon if you talk to him.
2. Fallout new Vegas supposed to have more map and supposed to more larger and another mechanic such driving vehicle but Bethesda decide to tell obsidian that they have 18 month to complete the game and using the same engine like fallout 3

Did a NCR-BOS war actually happened? I mean, the only confrontation we actually have with them aside from tv series is the battle of Helios One. And Helios One is merely just a single battle, its just a one chapter of the brotherhood and not its entirety vs. a full blown NCR army. Doesn't sound anything close to a faction war to me.

Enclave tried to commit Genocide on the entire population. 3 times after they nearly succeeded the first time.

If it wasn't so irritating, it'd be funny that people think the NCR in NV was doomed, bc of one bad frontier war. As discussed here, they just ate the loss of their entire gold reserves, stomped the BoS, and kept on growing like nothing happened. People forget the power of banks. Whoever controls the money controls the world.
Meanwhile the haphazard merger of illiterate, warring tribes under an irreplaceable leader, suffering two great defeats--to an enemy that is barely mustering its forces, would have to wage dozens of other wars and massively expand its territory, just to rebuild the army. They wiped out or enslaved every other military age male in existing territory. People say the NCR is spread thin, but the Legion completely overtapped their population to the point of absurdity. With the age and gender distribution so out of wack it'd take 20 years minimum just to avoid utter collapse.

the problem with making their money fiat is that it made it more and more worthless the farther you get away from core NCR territory. when you get to washington state or eastern nevada it'd basically be worthless because many of those people are never going to do business with the NCR or maybe even NCR based merchants. they also wouldn't trust the word of a government who just goes 'trust me bro this stack of paper is worth your food bro trust' with 0 guarantee. this is why caps and denarii are worth something - you have a material guarantee that no matter what, the money you have will always be worth the same. with the NCR they could just print a million new hundred dollar bills and you're fucked.
As a none fallout player or fan when I watched the show I expected these guys to BOS to be like Spartans from halo but this explains a lot why they’re trash warriors because they haven’t had the proper training and that

Kai-sar is the proper Latin pronunciation of the Latin name and title Caesar. Also, it’s how members of the Legion refer to him in the game itself.

I think the NCR was already starting to have problems in NV food being an issue I think, and their dollar that they created crashed not leaving much faith from its citizens. It's a possibility to collapse in a few years

Have you actually considered the position of the NCR?
They were in a two front war with both the Brotherhood and the Legion, the former of which destroyed their economy, then they lost the Dam, and then their capital got deleted.
This is as weak as they will ever get, so anyone that doesn't like them, both on the inside and outside, would strike now while they're down, that's not something you just shrug off.
