In Czechia I know of „koberec Höven“ - the rug named Höven. The funny thing is, that in Czech „koberec hoven“ means a rug full of shit.
Oops! That's really funny for many other Slavic speakers as well! 😁
And now you know that Swedes pronounce "Höven" quite different from "hoven".
I wonder if it was IKEA's evil plan to leave the original names for their products so they can make all the world learn Swedish 🤔 Svenska soft power 😂

And imagine how I ask a shop assistant to help me finding "Skärefly" or "Stjärnbräcka". The first time in life when someone hears the [ɧ] sound 😀

For me the name "Skärefly" looks like "scarefly", something that scares flies away from your house (like scarecrow does with crows on the crop field)
How a person pronounce [ɧ] and our letter "u" is the most easy way to hear if you are a native Swedish speaker or not. Those sounds are more or less unique to Swedish and Norwegian. And I think those sounds are what foreigners struggle with the most when learning Swedish.
One of their carpets is called HOVEN, which is funny for Czechs, because of words "koberec hoven" mean "carpeřt of sh*ts".

This video leaves out a very important bit in pronouncing Swedish - Pitch accent and stress.

It's the most authentic Swedish sound that helps you to defrost a frozen window! That's why Northern Swedish uses [ɧ] in all positions 😀

Personally as a native Swede my accent is not very different from just standard. I’m from jönköping for reference.
Also you didn’t go over pitch accent and stress which is a big part in Swedish

As a Chinese, I have to say that IKEA did well in localization so that we can completely evade those complex Swedish names, since they have found everything a Chinese name with enough similarity to its original one in Swedish. E.g., Stjärnbräcka/欢布莱卡(huan bu lai ka), Stajlig/斯塔利(si ta li), etc. Thus, we can simply call those stuff in our mother tongue LOL😂Anyway, thank you so much for teaching me the authentic way to pronounce them, rather than using an approximation👍
This is the best video about Swedish I’ve seen by a non-native. Very well done!
Although I noticed there was an error at 6:14. The y in kylklamp is long because it’s a compound word of kyl+klamp. You pronounced it with a short y which implies a compound between the nonsense words kylk+lamp. Also you really exaggerate the pitch accent at times but I think that only sounds strange to me because I’m from the north and we generally pronounce things with a falling tone more often.

By the way, do you pronounce the short u and the short ö differently? E.g., do you distinguish words fördömande and fördummande?
