Many thanks for this. Did my first flight yesterday, and had my reading glasses on for the controller, so didn’t sent drone far away as I wanted to see it. Couldn’t understand why the drone kept wanting to land where it was when I pressed RTH button. Now I know I was within five meters and RTH doesn’t work that close, which as you say is important if you’re flying over water. You’ve saved me a lot of trouble down the line. Again, many thanks.
At 3:50 after take off, the aircraft stopped and hovered at what appeared to be a pre-set altitude. If you explained how to do that in your video, I missed it. Could you advise me here on how to do that ? Thank You.
Thank you so much for this video! After the incident I had Saturday when the Mini 3 Pre force landed, you showed me that when I lost contact when my controller crashed, I should’ve let it come home on it’s own. When I did regained control, it was me sending it the wrong way ( maps were gone), causing the forced landing. Chalk that up as a rookie mistake and a learning experience. Flew today prior to seeing this video, and I did feel much more confident keeping a better eye too on the battery level. After watching this, my confidence level his shot way up. Thanks Marcus!
Can it dive faster with the motion 2? Say you dive as normal using the motion feature and pair it with the joystick? I always felt diving looked really slow when not in manual.
Helpful video, thank you. The first time I flew my Mini 3 Pro I did exactly what you described, I moved around while it flew and then I realized I needed it to come back home since we needed to leave the area and I couldn't figure out how to update the home point to the controller's position - so I ended up manually flying it to a known landmark and landing safely. I think DJI shouldn't bury that option within some settings menu, it should be an on-screen option in my opinion (or something you can assigned very easily and quickly on the fly, especially when a situation arises).
Just wanted to pop in to say thank you so much for producing this VERY informative tutorial! Thoroughly appreciate your time and effort in the making of this drone content!
You did a great job on explaining return to home, that will help a lot of people who's unfamiliar with it. You always explain things in great detail, thanks for doing that and thanks for sharing this information, I'm sure it will help a lot of people.
I have read about this but its nice to see it in action. I set my homepoint one time and then walked to another area. I was landing with a low battery and just before I landed it went into return to home. It took off right toward a tree trying to go back to my take off location. I was struggling trying to figure out how to cancel return to home quickly but lucky it stopped before hitting the tree. I wish I could easily cancel return to home without taking my eyes off the drone. Its good to be ready and know where that pause button is without having to look. Its good to have a plan in these situations. They happen quickly. Nice video.
Thanks. That was very helpful. It seems that your map was not displaying details on the regular screen while you were flying. They seemed to appear only when you were changing the home point. Any ideas why?

Thanks for this very excellent video. Very useful. I was curious though about the effectiveness of this RTH when the drone is sent to further limits, like 1 km or even 2... Further I have seen here was less than 300 meters from RC.
Superb presentation. For new flyers they should know that the higher the RTH altitude setting the greater the risk (same with a lower return height) a) Stronger winds exist at higher RTH which can suck your battery juice b) climbing & descending to /from 400 ft can also drain your battery. I personally set height based on terrain each & every flt. As an island guy, I am 90% over water so margin of error is scary & unforgiving. Aloha, Barry
Thanks for this video! Nice test, switching off the controller. Yesterday I talked to a seller, about drones, and asked if the Return Home kicked in if the controller got off line. He didn't know and gave me counter questions why, how, that situation would take place. Thank You for the test! Looking at the landings the landing spot was uncomfortably close to some trees. God luck the drone managed and didn't go down into the tree. Fun test, moving away from the old Home Position. Don't make the Home Position be on a boat that's moving...... For example, when you switched off your controller in this video you were no longer in control of the craft, it was in control of itself, so if you had seen something like emergency services helicopter in the sky you couldn't control bringing it down therefore adding to the danger as your RTH might actually bring the drone into contact with that helicopter. Hey Marcus,as always a very informative and interesting video. Thanks heaps. You sure love those DJI drones! A bit too rich for my wallet. After 2 years and 3 remote controls and countless SD cards I finally got my zino2+ in the air anytime I want. I can now say it's a great drone! Take care mate, Dan downunder
I was flying my Mini 3 pro two days ago and learned something. I did not pay attention to my pre-flight. I took the drone up about 300 feet to look around. I had it in one place for awhile panning and taking snapshots. I lost my bearings as I was over a lot of thick trees. I hit the return to home and it turned and headed for home. I noticed it had drifted a good bit from where I thought it was. It made it back home and before landing I took control as I like to land it manually. The wind was blow lightly, not heavy at all. As I did some trouble shooting, I found the left to right control was not working. I was turned off. I figured out the little amount of wind took it off course and it could not make the correction with the left right disabled. I learned to always do a pre-flight every time you fly.
Thank you very much! I use metric for a couple of reasons. The manuals are written using metric, and secondly, I've learned to appreciate the simplicity of the metric system.
Good thorough coverage of the RtH features. One thing that wasn't covered or detailed that I've been wondering about quite a bit, is with the RC controller, how do you get GPS location for the controller (to indicate direction and location of controller on the mini-map as well as to update RtH to be at the controller's position)? My understanding is that you MUST have WiFi (and/or Bluetooth) connection to your phone established, since the controller doesn't have GPS built in on it's own? Might just be a good detail for some folks, since the RC controller (annoyingly) disables BT/WiFi when you first power it up and start flying to "improve range"...but really frustrates me when it does this, because it makes the mini-map pretty much useless (no street / info detail) and you can NOT now get any indication of the RC controller location. Please let me know if I'm missing something on this for my experience. P.S. Fellow Treasure Valley Dronie
Hello Jeff, and thank you. That is no doubt one of the issues with an all in one controller like the DJI RC. Often I will turn on WiFi again after takeoff and hotspot to my phone.
Thanks for the explanation regarding how RTH works when less than 50 meters from home! I used RTH this morning, apparently less than that, not knowing it wouldn’t ascend to set RTH altitude! Got distracted but looked down at screen just in time to see it was headed right at my house! Curious if the APAS would have kicked in had I not grabbed the sticks!? 😅
Good to know, thank you for explaining this in your review, I've been watching all the reviews on the mini 3,not too bad,now I know what to watch for, for the price an performance, I still want this drone, after you purchase, can you buy extra batteries separately
Nice! Thanks, ... can you change it to follow the controller? , or do you need to select the controlled to update this just before you land it? Thanks The use for reference, would be using it to active track a boat. With of course wanting it to auto track where the controller is to land wher ethe boat has moved to? :). Thanks

Your Zino 2 + is one of Hubsan's best drones ever. 👍
Excellent job 👍 presenting the RTH scenarios. Just subscribed to your channel.
Thank you
Thank you! I'm glad you found it useful.
This is really informative and thanks much man for sharing with us! This could save many amateur’s(like me) drone pilots for real!
I'm glad it was helpful! There is quite a lot to RTH.
I agree! It's important do go through app settings. Thank you!
Thanks for sharing love it.
Thank you for watching!
I've learned a lot. Very detailed and great demo on the different scenarios utilizing the RTH function of this drone. Thank you so much. 💯👍👏
I'm so glad it was helpful! Thank you!
Very good information about rth. This will help some out there. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you Herman! I enjoyed putting this one together.
Really useful, especially the "within 5m" RTH action.
Yes, the Air 3 nailed the precision RTH! 🙂
nice thank you
Great info, Marcus. I had forgotten about RTH just landing the drone when it was too close.
Yes, I wonder how many people are surprised when their drone just lands when it's within 5 meters? 🙃 Thank you Kris!
thanks Marcus. Is the mini 2 pretty much the same?
Yes, however remember that the Mini 2 does not have obstacle avoidance. 👍
Is there a way to auto set home point to the controller so if you were in follow mode it would be auto updating as you go
No, you would need to reset it to the controller each time you move.
i need to get the action 2. it looks good!
I am really liking the Action 2 Steven.
Your tutorials are very informative. Thank you. 1 question, why do you use metric? Just curious.
Thank you very much! I use metric for a couple of reasons. The manuals are written using metric, and secondly, I've learned to appreciate the simplicity of the metric system.
Excellent vid!
Thank you very much!
When you click RTH, do you have control over the yaw on the drone like the Mini 2?
I suspect that just like the Mini 2 you do, but I need to check that.
Thank you! Obstacle avoidance should have stopped the drone from a collision, but I wouldn't want to count on it. 🙂
Good to know, thank you for explaining this in your review, I've been watching all the reviews on the mini 3,not too bad,now I know what to watch for, for the price an performance, I still want this drone, after you purchase, can you buy extra batteries separately
Glad I could help, it's a great drone!
Yes sir thank you, I can't wait to get it
Nice! Thanks, ... can you change it to follow the controller? , or do you need to select the controlled to update this just before you land it? Thanks
The use for reference, would be using it to active track a boat. With of course wanting it to auto track where the controller is to land wher ethe boat has moved to? :). Thanks
You can use active track to track your boat, but no this drone does not have a dynamic home point. 👍
great video, amateur here how do start and stop screen recording?
Thank you! You start it in the pull down menu on the controller. 👍
