Great video!!! Certainly gives me more confidence for flying my Mini 3 Pro. I am a licensed private pilot for fixed wing aircraft and these little drones scare the heck out of me sometimes when I fly them as I always think that I may lose them or have them damage property or even worse injure someone. Now...... I wish I had confidence to fly over water and land on a boat. I'm going to watch your take off and landing from your hand next.
Great video. I would like to know when the forced landing is occurring if you can have the drone move positionally with the right stick in addition to bumping it up with the left one.
well you learn something every day don't you . You have made a really valid point really did not know . About return to home in sports mode that the sensors turn on .. brilliant .. thank you 👍👍👍
I knew about the different RTH actions based on meters away from the home point. Very Important!! I see DJI does this where my older Autrel Evo1 would always rise to max altitude setting. Your videos are awesome, and I watch all your tips on the M3P. Thanks!!!
I love your videos. Very instructional. Could you prepare a video to learn how to land the drone from a moving slow Vehicule. Like a sailboat or any slow boat. I have seen some catch it with their hand and turn it upside down to kill the engine.
It's tricky to do as you are moving and have to be confident in the grab with the fingers around the lower body and a forward roll over manoeuvre to kill the props. If I had a boat, I would put it in neutral, then capture the drone in this way.
Another great video Mats - thank you. I was trying out the low batt Function function earlier and didn’t know why the drone provided only a ‘land’ option when pressing the screen icon. But as it was
What would happen in case of mini 3(not pro) in case of being behind a three which is higher then 20m and we set the max attitude to 20m as dji mini 3 doesn't have collision recognision as pro has?
Thankyou for such a very concise and clear instructional video.. This may sound like a silly question but as far as loss of signal is concerned, if i turned off the remote control i assume the droje will simply return home. I havent tried it.
You probably know this by now. You are correct turning off the transmitter will initiate RTH but remember you will not be able to interrupt the process unless you switch back on and regain a signal. PS. Remember to check in your settings that you have RTH set for "Loss of signal" (which is the default but there are alternatives "Hover" or "Descend") also remember that it will return to the last known home point which may not be your current position if you have moved around. Enjoy your flying 🙂
Nice thanks for these videos. I am learning a lot about my Mini 3 Pro from your videos. Have you made one about the intelligent flight batteries self discharging when stored for more than a day at full charge? Think that would make a good video. I noticed this with mine and was concerned leaving them in the charging case was discharging them but turns out it's a function of the intelligent battery itself.
Perhaps worth mentioning : in low light conditions the obstacle avoidance will not work ! So when you then go into RTH mode you can crash easily 😕 Stop RTH and find a safe way out manually, once you're sure everything is clear (take a look around and use your gimbal up and down) you can carefully move out and initiate RTH again. (a lesson learned the hard way :-( )
How does the rth work if I am on top of a 60 story building. Can it get confused when the flies out over the open space and the ground meters suddenly change ?
Hi and Thanks for your very informative videoes. Can I challenge you for an answer. I fly a Mini3 PRO and in the latest FW 1.12.8 it seems that the way of using the remote as a Homepoint, is a challenge. The icons have changed, and the app requires now a mobile device for GPS signal. Anyway, I can’t make It work, can you help?
I want to ask yesterday why my 4 pro lost conection between drone and remote in succession way i tried to turn off and turn on the remote several time until i can only press rth but its hard to land. Thanks
I got caught out with the critical low battery whilst active track on my motorcycle. It autolanded beside a dam just meters away from the water. What to try out next is "find my drone" in this situation, if you know roughly where it landed, the "find my drone" works brilliant taking you right to it. There is even a prompt on the controller that lets you flash its lights and make a chirp sound. I land the drone by hovering it beside me at head height then grabbing it using my fingers either side if the sensors, then quickly rotate it in a forward roll over manoeuvre and it kills the props instantly.
hi today i use my DJI air3 first time,i m totally beginner so i was forget that drone battery was very low..after 5 mins my RC2 controller gave warning beep or drone was nearly out of cintrol..thanks God they were landed at my place my question is that "HOW SET OPTION IN MY RC2 THAT MH DRONE LAND AT MY PLACE BEFORE 10 MINUTES OF BATTERY END" pls guide
Thats so cool, i have been flying my mini 3 pro for a little over a month, and havent tried the fly home feature. Also how did you film the screen on the controller?
Swipe down on the screen and you will see the option to screen record (below the WiFi icon). I have an SD card in the controller and screen record every flight.
Well. The sort answer if you are on that boat and flying the drone and you haven’t updated the home point. Well then the home point is the position from where your drone started and that’s to where it will fly back home. I’m actually on my way out in 20 min to film a video how to dynamically update the home point to the current position so it doesn’t fly away if you are moving.
@@useryggfdcc well I mention that in almost all my active track videos that you have to set the RTH to hover instead of return to home. But that is only for fail safe RTH. For the other ones you need to update the homepoint. I will consider your suggestion tho :)
@@MK-Creator Please do. A video will be the best way to demonstrate it. Doesn't have to be on water, on land will be fine too but on a little boat will surely be much more exciting 😀.
These are the types of features I wish I had of known about when comparing the Mini 2 and Mini 3. The mini 2 has no avoidance sensors except one on the bottom so i assume if there is an obstacle in the way during RTH it will just crash into it :/
Thanks for sharing. This remote was amazing, but as you say. You should only really get it if you make money from your drone. It’s not really for recreational flights :)
ooo man my dj mini 3 stay in Paris Police departament.because I m film Eiffel Tower😂😂Now I have only remote controller and battery..I need by new drone🙁🙁Thanks for video👍
@tonycannatamusic your RTH settings have the height set higher than your ceiling, drone is set to automatically climb to a certain altitude before returning home
Stop, stop, stop. "Has no battery to fly"..... My correction is "Has no battery to fly back to the Home Point"! When flying a one way trip the Home Point is a not wanted devil. It reserves battery capacity for a not wanted mission, RTH, power fully usable for the rest of the planned flying.. Have a lock at the later part of this video: ua-cam.com/video/TYFIJ_2l1h4/v-deo.html What is "Filsafe RTH"?
If I ever stated something else, you are of course correct that the Low Battery RTH is initiated when the battery reaches a level where you are risking to not be able to fly back to the home point. Regarded “planned flying” the DJI mini 3 pro doesn’t (by default) allow flight planning via for example waypoints for anything else than hyper lapse. Filsafe RTH would be a typo if that is found anywhere. It supposed to say Failsafe RTH which is then the connection between the drone and the remote is broken. Thanks for your comment. :)
@@MK-Creator Thanks! Filsafe or failsafe... I depend on Google translate, not always perfect... The RTH on lost radio was turned to hover. I did the flying using a Mavic 3 PRO controlling it manually, sitting in the train. Have not practised waypoints yet but the flying speed needs to be customized to the speed of the train. Does waypoints allow that? Still trust my little knowledge and experience more that not well known "automated functions".
Love your videos but oh the repetitive annoying Muzak again🙈, play some Brahms, or, some William Lawes…(please). Yes you got it, I’m an old person who just happens to love tech. How about making two videos of the same subject one with music, and, one without. Have you made a video on how to fix on a subject and fly around it? manually I mean because I can’t get it right, the control sticks I mean, that’s why I need the mini 4 Pro albeit only crashed drone once, you no worry, it was ok. Boy I wish that I could afford the mini 4 pro, I’m an old age pensioner (Uk) who just happened to work all his life NDT! And, DJI don’t respect loyal customers. ❤❤❤🙉
Actually no… the reason is that it’s an intelligent flight battery that will not deplete itself below the critical point. That is why the drone actually land by itself in a controlled manner and not crash due to an empty battery. It’s not completely depleted.
It is almost empty, and we all know perfectly well that Lipo batteries are very delicate, and the worst thing that can be done to them is to lower them from their minimum voltage of 3v per cell, that battery greatly shortened its life time, I fly rc planes and helicopters 7 years ago, and I think that your video is not a good example for those who are starting to fly FPV ..@@MK-Creator
The video is not an example for showing anything about batteries life time, the video is to show how RTH is working. It’s a big difference flying RC planes and helicopters that don’t have the protective electronic built in. I start flying helicopters about 25 years ago and back then you are right, they lost a lots of its life time by depleting them until they could not propel the electric motors any more. However that is not the case of the DJI intelligent flight batteries. With that said, it can still defiantly be the case with other batteries from other manufacturers to other drones etc. 0% displayed in the DJI flight app does NOT mean that it’s actually 0%. However I would not recommend to leave this “drained” battery without charging it for a period of time. Then it would for sure possible be drained below a critical point. Thanks for sharing your thought. It’s highly appreciated.
Thanks for your feedback, but actually no. The intelligent flight battery will never deplete itself to a state that hurt itself. It didn’t run empty. Only empty enough to not let the drone fly anymore. I have done tests after this video comparing this battery to a new one and could not detect any difference.
