Hehe! I dredged just above the bridge in the early 90s! The good gold is DEEP under the boulders! LOTS of history in the canyon and cool things to see! Locals call the bridge Circle Bridge. And long ago a local miner named No Shoes walked the railing from one side to the other. Up stream about 4 miles in one of the side canyons is a little ghost town and its harder to find then you think. There are two tiny cementers in the canyon also. Great video!
You were living the dream!! I have friends with claims in that area and they have found some crazy big gold down deep crevice sniping!! I can only imagine what dredging was like!!
@@mininhawaiian2911 Well, It was a dream then. I also found a lot of late 1700 to early 1800 silver Spanish coins below the bridge. I would LOVE to get a dredge on that river again!
The first area you rode your bike is a water ditch for a old water operated gold mill near the mouth of the river. Now under water. Up stream about a mile is the remnants of the dam. Have to look for it but that canyon has GREAT GOLD in it too just have to hike! The areas on the side of the road with the big quarts veins are loaded with pyrite and were dug out by the PG&E guys a few years ago while I was mining the big gravel bar down stream. The land slide been there for 3 year. There is another old suspension bridge up stream from the slide about 2 miles and whats left of the road to get to it but I have not been there is 20 year. There are i think 5 abandon cable bridges with in a few miles of where your camped.I been to 4. the canyon where your camped is also FILLED with cubed pyrite crystals! Hard to pan gold with them. Your in a very good spot! Just the surface has been hit hard but if your willing to move BIG rocks then there is a LOT more gold ti find! Again GREAT video! Would love to go with you if your in the canyon again and YES, I am a member of the same claim!

I spent 40 years in that area (mostly further south on the Stanislaus NF), finally bugged out of California in '91. This video makes me homesick, even after all these years.
