@@thefury110 i remember when i first saw those tv's that came with a vcr integrated in them back in the mid 90's. I soon discovered they were faulty when i got a adult film stuck in there and my dad had to flush it out and later beat the shit out of me.
I know for a fact that back when the 'Thrawn Trilogy' was released, Lucas was asked for his opinion.
He said, "no comment."
Apart from the Original Trilogy, Timothy Zahn's work is the best Star Wars ever put into writing.
Then later, Lucas relented and nowadays he appears to appreciate the work. Or perhaps he doesn't want to alienate more fans.
Now we just need that second episode of the disturbance at the cantina.

I know this is as old as the hills, but I was watching it again....it is extremely well done...not just the effects, but the feel of it, the pacing, and the spot on way it emulates "Cops". The Wisconsin accent is the icing on the cake.

Yeah I luv how they perfectly imitated the cops tv show whenever they would drive around and talk about their job (ie: Minnesota stormtrooper is cruising thru the desert and casually talking about joining the Empire & wanting to make a difference). “I like the small town feeling you get around here & uh, we know everybody. Something like 80% or 90% of police calls in the US are minor domestic disturbances like the Beru/Owen scene. And they are handled just as badly.

What I love about this is that the creators clearly knew Star Wars in-and-out but also watched a lot of Cops. The dialogue sounds so authentic for a Cops episode. The writing, the mannerism, the delivery, it’s all superb. Troops may be the best Star Wars film since 1980.
As sad as it is, Luke's aunt and uncle blowing themselves up with the stormtroopers just happening to be there by complete coincidence will always be the true canon to me. It's sort of humanizing to see that the galaxy wouldn't just be some kind of utopia just because the Empire isn't there. And love or hate the Empire, you just *know* that they'd get blamed for damn near everything that goes wrong, whether they actually had anything to do with it at all or not, so Luke seeing the explosion and just automatically assuming they did it just makes sense. Really well done.
Those scout troopers in the season finale of The Mandolorian were 100% based on Troops, change my mind.

Nearly 25 years later and this is still a good laugh. I love these old fan made films.
I'm honestly not exaggerating, this is significantly better use of the material than anything Disney accomplished in the main trilogy.

The Empire gets them Canadians with offers of all you can eat pancakes with real maple syrup. Once they sign up, the Empire reveals that they have altered the deal and urge then to pray they don't alter it further. But Canadians are so polite that they say that's ok. Then they slowly begin to release their rage on those they subjugate.
Genuinely one of the greatest pieces of satire I've ever seen. Absolutely stunning

I love it. Don't know what COPS is, but I love how this nicely integrates into ep IV plot, the humour, how this goes in line with movie details on stormtroopers' behavior. Done with care and passion to Star Wars, also.
It was a long running documentary with Cops in the US. Started in Broward County in Florida in 1989. The intro is very similar with Bad Boys etc. This is a very good parody of it.
Was a tv show where you follow a bunch of Cops around and see them doing their job. Basically this without the Star Wars and also it's not fiction.
Loved this when it first started circulating back in the 90s. Just watched it again for the first time in ages, and it still holds up.

The second Stormtrooper lieutenant was surprisingly reasonable showing patience and offering to take the angry wife to a shelter, instead of just shooting them both.

I think their shooting was awful good...must be some upgraded troops. No normal trooper could hit someone with one shot.

Seeing Star Wars content like this just warms my heart and breaks it at the same time. The quality and passion for Star Wars was legendary not to mention all the creators contributing to it. Now it’s just filoni wars and Disney soulless sequels. Don’t even try to tell a newer or younger fan about the old stuff as all that “legends” stuff is non canon crap to them that they oh god they might have to read and then they think and preach the word of Dave filoni as the greatest thing to happen to Star Wars.

Definitely the best fan film, the low quality actually adds to the documentary feel. I've been watching a bunch of fan films lately since Vader by Star Wars Theory came out but this one is always my favorite

Elemental Entity I strongly disagree again, but thats my oppinion. Vader looks odd in all movies, there are are just shots that make him look odd since its a constricted suit. You cant do allot of stuff for 100.000$ dollars, most of it goes in production, that includes tech, custumes, CGI, sets and permits to film, paying actors. I dont know what scene your saying its ripping of, dont remember him fighting Clones troopers or the emperor lol.

Imagine 1997 when this came out. There was no UA-cam, Facebook and Twitter. Star Wars fan skits already were a thing before social media came by. What we only had before were fan websites and video upload services were these videos were put in. The biggest things then were yahoo, Netscape, lycos, AOL, compuserve.
Not to mention the CGI work on the ships and speeders, That wasn’t something you could crank out on your average home computer.
I downloaded this sucker on 56k AOL. I don't recall how long it took. Anywhere from a few hours to all day 😄
And we all managed to see it without fear of our personal info being tracked. We also shared it with real-life friends - not a bunch of "thumbs-up" icons - and got to laugh with and near them as we watched together.
If I remember correctly, there was a dvd version of this released in stores briefly.
