The knife was from blue dog forge
In my circle growing up we always referred to knives as "friends". A "friend" is always by your side ready to help.
John ,you are a man with integrity. Work hard and then play hard . You earned the respect of your viewers .Greetings from the USA.
Awesome Dog, Awesome Knife, Awesome video,, sooo much awesomeness, I love watching your videos John, and also your friend Tam,. What a TEAM,
Hi John and of course Tyson, Tim, Rab and all,
Subbed a little while ago but watched for a while longer. Takes me back 35 ish years to days me and a mate did recce's for our unit , bivvy bags under hedges, ruined farm buildings. Mix of issue kit and surplus. Age and health (latest was heart attack Boxing Day) put an end to it. Get as much in while you can, you'll miss it like crazy. Just dug out the Cobb and my old EpiGas, live on the West Wales coast and planning trips with the pickup, my wife and dog. Never again at your level but can day camp along miles of wild coast, perhaps some foraging.
Keep the videos coming, old codgers like me get to relive our own adventures through your camera. Helps massively with the mega boring rehab. Cheers mate.
Tyson is such a awesome little dog
Your knife is a Damaskus formed steel blade..
Many times has this knife been folded and rea heated..and folded again... old school knife art... enjoy your knife and look after it ... as i watch your great vids my friend :)

I like your friend, Tam. Hope you can camp with him again. I also watch "Survival Russia." It's another great channel.
Hope to see you fishing again soon. Being so close to the river, be a shame to miss a free meal. It would great to see you catch something and cook it.

The flower is a Crocus. Crocus tommasinianus 'Whitewell Purple'.
4 mins in and you picked up an accent.....love the beach camp especially the tarp set up with bench very homey....Your the pack leader, you collect wood so Tyson is just helping daddy
This trip was the first I have watched when it wasn't raining and blowing a gale. And now the weather is back to being awful again.
I have used Silky saws for the last few years. I have never broken one yet, but had to stay mindful at first of the pull cut. Best light weight Camp saw ever made, though it is a arbor tool. Always wondered why you never used one for as much wood as you go through. Happy you finally tested one out. Should make your outings a wee bit better then before.
Tam made an instant friend with Tyson by giving Tyson two big pieces of sausage and a roomy hammock to nap in. 🍖 We can tell you two "olde friends" had a great time camping together again. 🌲Cutting wood and "out witted" one another. Ha. Cheers John and Tam ! 🍺
Funny bloke is Tam, good times lads. Enjoyed that one.
I’ve been using the Agawa Boreal 21 saw lately but so also have the yellow handle big boy. Both great hiking saws. For camp I have the Sugowaza.
Nice visit with your friend.
hay how are you. we have 25 degrees plus. nice and warm with us,. and next week it will be even warmer. Greetings to all from the good old Germany.
Daffodils are blooming in Southern California-rare for the end of winter.
Hi john and tam, another fab video I enjoyed it very much. Nice to meet your friend tam, seems a very nice guy, as. Are you John don't want to leave you out lol
John it looks like spring has sprung a bit early.you always make camping look so easy but I know it's not.I can't get any of my friends to camp with me, it's probably because I am 72 but I am glad I can get my grandsons to go and it is fun teaching them things. Epic fire!!! Looks like you fellas had a really good time.Best wishes from the state of Maryland in the USA.
Nice Day camping. Love these videos.
Was not day camping was 2 nights
I am a big fan of you and Tyson. Love your channel. In this video you answered the question that has plagued me with every riverside camp you do, The question was where does he sleep while you are in the hammock and if he is in it with you how the two of you fit in one hammock LOL. He is wonderful. Love the large tarp set up over the two of you in this one. Keep up the vids.
I envy your spring weather ! Tyson is having a feast with the sticks. Enjoyed once again, thank you 🍀
It’s ment to be winter lol
That's what I mean too. We have lots of snow and no sign of spring and you have flowers, ladybugs 😊
Another great vid.... see Wales had over 20C today warmest Feb temp in british history......we had 17 or 18 degrees in Ireland...just mad weather...totally different from last year....Great camping wearher🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪
That was just a great video you both looked as if you were having great fun mind you I thought Tyson had jumped ship but no he went back to his dad in the end stay safe from Scotland
I have the same saw, they are awesome saws! Another epic video
Always look forward to your videos, Thanks so much for taking us along! Stay safe my friend, till next time, stay happy.
lovely video and it was so bright and sunny! i was wondering if it rains a lot where you live because it seems like almost all of the videos i have watched have some part of them where it is raining or cloudy. your friend, tam seemed like a nice guy and a great person to camp with. as usual, for me, tyson is the star of the show! he just gets cuter as he gets older! thank you for this video and i always look forward to more!
Tam has the poshest Glaswegian accent I’ve ever heard. 🤣🏴
Hahaha he will love this comment
itst that posh ' he sounds English !!!
That knife is nice mate me and the wife are avid followers of your antics grate video mate as always ATB Keith
Nice one dude thanks
there are sever Silky KatanaBoy saw models, the longest is the 1000--that is a whole lotta saw !!! nice job rebuilding this camp site. that is one seriously awesome knife !!!! the blade looks like it's a damascus steel
Absolutely get the silky saw. You will never regret it! If you get the Katana-Boy, you can leave the chain saw at home.
Man, spring comes early there
John say hi to chief Tomas I glad Tyson’s with u and u have lots of nice woods 😝
Cool I will thanks for watching
Thank you John it looked like u and tm had a great catch up
hi john..i see from all the flowers that you may be in for an early spring and a new face at camp as well...shout out to tom....cheers
Nice video John! Looked like Tyson had lots of fun. Are you going to try to get the log from your old bench out of the water? It’s tempting I’m sure. Just be careful if you try. And you might find the rest of it as well. Looking forward to the next one.
Makes so much sense just using bungees rather than para cord for the tarp.
Yeah totally agree I think cord and ridge lines are a waist of time truth be told or for show bungee cord works faster and better
Can’t believe you took this long to decide on a silky boy mate
I have a Hornet Hammock was my first , top hammock but as you say a little small i put a ridge line through it. I also have a expedition Hammock but i have to say i have just got a FE Active Hammock it's massive cost me 20 quid delivered and my most comfy, going to work up at Stirling and will use it for two weeks at a time cheap Digs. Got a DD 4x4 and Carp fishing slp Bag and Snug Pak UQ. all chunkier Stuff but i like it. Good Upload , that Chicken looks tasty ATB.
That GF knife is sweet looking.
nice one john great vid good to see you out with an old mate having a good time cheers for the vid all the best for the rest of the week
@carlisle there is a bigger silkie saw called Katana, check that one out.
When are you gonna start fishing again? There is a season you have to wait for isn't there? Tam seems like a lot of fun. The amount of wood left behind after the flood is incredible. Looks like bonfire material. Thanks for sharing your trip with us.
Top camp again dude.
All that wood to play with too.
Thanks dude and that’s just one of my camps can’t wait to check out the island camps and see wot they have
Sorry John I won't write anything around the camps anymore. I understand that it has become a bit too much. Good work on the video s .
Mint video once again john and nice to hear a fellow scot,i must admit i love that little camp right next to the river would love a little spot like that, that sunset was mint and i can see me getting one of them silky bigboys must admit still love my little laplander but now think its time for an upgrade thanks for sharing atb crash😁
Lars (Survival Russia) is awesome!!
Just buy yourself one or two Silky saws, you won't regret it!
Yeah I’m going to get the big boy first
high john, love cooking chicken with wild garlic on the fire.
Yeah me to
Beautiful knife
You've a "Hand Axe" Tam has a "Felling Axe" that's why his handle's that long.
;¬)
Yeah I no the difference between the axes lol
Think tams is a hybrid ,
The shape of his axe head is like a shallow chopping axe the longer handle would give more force though when felling ,
A felling axe( ive two one has dual hammerhead ) has deeper wedge shape its the head shape that dictates type of axe not the lengh of handle although a felling axe with 12" handle wouldn't be easy to use .
Spring flowers! Weeks off in Virginia.
Yeah I worry they will all die off if we get a cold spell again
We have a cold spell in the 20's F forecast for Saturday here in Texas. It will kill everything. Pear, Quince and daffodils all in bloom will be frozen.
super👌
Your girlfriend is right...but...i kinda agree with you on not wanting to damage it because it is a stunning bushcraft blade!
That's an authentic camping you've got there John & Tom. Sure both of you been sharing impressions due your common professional background. Awesome mate! I hope you'll enjoy the Katana as Lars ("Survival Russia and tralalalala!"...) does. 🤪🤣🤣🤣ATB. Sal.
Yeah I love survival Russia he is brilliant and he is called tam short for Thomas
@@carlisle195 Both of you are my favourites UA-camrs. Good people sharing brilliant content. Thanks so much my brother.
I think cut the log with the saw is 100% more efficient ...you don't waste anything
Yeah! Carlisle195. You beauty. Great to see you. How you doing? Just about to view your outing. See you. From Craig Lee White. UK. Thanks Carlisle195.
John weather here is sunny ☀️ and warm but they say snows on wavy I hope not not want snow ❄️
I love snow I home it turns back to winter soon lol
john try the samurai saw half the price of the silky and twice as good
Yeah I will have a look thanks
@@carlisle195 have a look at wranglerstars vidio on it
You need to come to Australia and camp John. Even in the national parks you are miles and miles from any body with nothing around you- except wild buffaloes, banteng, huge pigs , drop bears, wild dogs, dingoes, bad mooded huge red kangaroos, crocodiles, sharks, snakes, spiders, mosquitoes, march flys, goanners,. You should be in your element !!
I was wondering how come you never bring your girlfriend with you on your adventures
Another great video. Awesome knife you were given. Things I've been wondering about, how long does it take you to walk from home to that spot where you cross the river? And how long to the camp you were at?
Good video You are right Definitely practice and take your time with a new tool like a different sized axe then the one you are used to. Hope your friend Tom is not lumping next time.
It’s tam short for Thomas
Excellent watch..some food porn ..awesome 🔥..Tyson is a lil treasure to watch being so happy paying with the logs...fab both x
Big tam fea glesgea last time I seen him think he was with ta outdoors can't believe how much you love wood John obsessed 😂
Haha your mistaken tam has never met him
OK what a fud iam
👍👍🇨🇦
yay! New video, I needed this
As an American, I think I need subtitles, lol.
If you can’t understand basic English as a American then subtitles will not help you lol
Nice video with Tom. Does he have a channel?? When do we get to meet your girlfriend??
Great vid as always john, does Tam have a channel ?.
2nd yay
20 Years?!?!?! I thought you were about 30
Yeah I’m 35 been cooking in kitchens since I was 14
@@carlisle195 Ohhh that is illegal in the States you have to be 16 with a permit to work here. What got you interested in cooking?
@@TheEvilEve2012 14 is working age in Canada as well, didn't know it was 16 in US
@@moosehat2 You can work at 15 and a half IF you have parental permission
what size dd tarp would you recommend for that xl hammock? you think his 3x3 perfectly fine to get the most variety of coverage? and do you have the snugpak "hammock under blanket" or "hammock quilt" ?
