    I just gotta say: This is one of the best videos you've made recently. The editing, music, and metaphors were phenomenal for creating a call to action for me personally, and I'm guessing this resonated with a lot of other people as well. I've been putting in a lot of hard work and effort over the last six months in several areas of my life, and being able to tap into that feeling of power from time to time and think that this effort is worthwhile meant a lot.

    It's kind of an interesting dilemma. I sort of feel like us anxious people, feeling such constant anxiety, can't even fully understand the concept of not always being a certain way. Like, obviously everyone suffer from some degree positive and negative emotions, and even the worst-case people are not anxious literally 100% of the time, but it really has to do with brain connections. Imagine it's your birthday, and all of your friends come over to spend time with you. Where the average person would be happy and excited to see all their friends, an anxious person might be more aware of just how many people are there, and it makes it hard to be happy when you feel crowded by people who should make you happy, especially when you start to feel bad that you aren't having fun at your own party, and you hope people can't tell that you don't want them to be there, because deep down you really do... It's not just as simple as "notice bad thought - replace bad thought", although that can help and does help me personally, but it's literally a disconnect of desire. You as a person want something, but the response your brain is telling you to have does not match the response you feel you want. It can cause a lot of self-worth issues, and I feel like a lot of people don't even fully recognize the actual issue.

    • @nickp3949
      @nickp3949 Рік тому +2

      Well said. I relate to this so much. It makes me feel like I’m not on the same wavelength as anybody, like I’m not centered or grounded. Everybody else is “there” in the moment, and I’m “here” stuck inside my anxious mind. It’s like I’m on a different plane or something. And because I can’t connect, it ramps up the anxiety even more and I just want to get out of there. Friends that I could know VERY well in one on one interactions are unrecognizable to me in groups. “The group” takes on its own single shape, and it feels over powering.
      Also, in groups there’s danger present…like being at the bottom of the totem pole, or being disrespected and shamed in front of everyone, or being targeted and picked on. These threats don’t exist one on one. But in groups I’m a nervous wreck.

    I felt powerful when I truly put my faith in mediocrity. To practice mediocrity is also to practice consistency because you can’t be mediocre once. You have to try to be mediocre constantly. When you allow yourself to practice mediocrity, you understand that what you have going on will never be finished but that you always have more time to try and try again.
    In my journey - I’ve had to overhaul how I approach work/habits by practising mediocre consistency. Now I try to put in consistent 50-60% effort into my habits (ex. journaling/working out) - to make sure I do it I began recording it and posting it on my youtube channel.
    Because historically I have a habit of going too hard, not being able to sustain the Herculean effort, giving up and hating myself. So now I’m trying to give a small, consistent mediocre effort everyday. And thats when I truly flt powerful because for the first time I started seeing results.

      I don't really like the sound of the word mediocrity, but I absolutely get where you're coming from. Most important I think is that you enjoy the process. Sometimes there are these moments where you feel 'powerful' and can go on, but it's not sustainable in my experience. (Even just for the fact that 'other things' also need to be done)

    I'm an alcoholic. Homeless on and off for the last 4 years... It led me to consider the alcohol I've been drinking since morning as a snake.

    Your videos are super helpful. It is really nice to hear stark realism instead of fluffy fake stuff. Keep it up.

    This is just about making me cry. It all makes sense. I just don't how or where to start. That's kinda always been my problem but I've never felt more lost in life than I do right now and I don't know how to get moving in the direction you're talking about.

    Ooooo I love this! Literally inspired me to create my own Playlist of videos to watch on a semi daily basis...just want to remind people to continue to seek videos like this bc maybe you have watched 25 videos on a certain topic but that 26th time clicks and your life shifts in a big way!
