My family from my fathers side that I talked to and visited multiple times a week for the first 7 years of my life didn't contact me for about 8 years because my mom forced me to move 20 miles away. When I turned 15 I made a facebook account and my grandmother got me as a friend suggesting and spreaded the word. I got maybe a dozen friend requests and people that have never even seen me went on about loving me. They just followed everyone elses lead. Not long after that, people never attempted to start a convo again and when I talked to them I either got left on read or they replied with very short messages ranging from one word to a dozen. I just stopped messaging them after a couple months which turned into years. This is a southern family as well so they invited eachother to events regularly, never got invited or mentioned. I just eventually said fuk it, they don't care and erased my online presence and my only family now is my grandmother(from mother's side), brother & sister. They've done similar with my aunt before & after she was murdered and with 'family friends'.
