Talen Renners dad is a millionaire. Travis he was the dad indicted on drug charges. One of his employees came foward and told police him and his business partner where trying cover up his sons involvement. It's a very twisted story So sad for Preston.
Oh, interesting, thank you. How brave of that employee - very admirable to stand up for justice for Preston and his poor family.
The footage of the police presence for Talen's arrest was unreal. The neighbours' curtains must have been twitching that day.

I read somewhere that the HS principal or assistant principal is also covering for her own child as well. Saw a school board meeting and parents are FED UP with no action or accountability. So very sad. It must be maddening.
In this case, it appears the parents who were hiding, shielding their kid(s) from the law need to be charged as accessories to the murder.
And so much more. Everybody knew. My HS kid saw the arrest and was so glad to be " the weird one " and not be part of the kick culture at the charter school
Thank you for covering this! There is so much corruption in this area. These families have been hiding. Gilbert police... well aren't to be trusted. Of all the cases you've covered... this one hits, literally, very close to home. This family needs answers and the rest involved need to be charged, including the parents hiding them.
I agree. The truth needs to be told and there are people out here trying to holding them accountable and making sure these kids cannot hurt any more people. This was not the first and it would not have been the last. These kids had already done so much damage. Very sad!

The states atty is also dirty. They could’ve stopped this when they knew these kids were doing this, all throughout the area. The parents should also be held responsible, just as in the Crumbley case.

Note that they are labeled a “group” in 12News story - making them akin to a knitting circle. There would be stronger words in AZ press and boatload of addt’l gang crime charges if there were 0 high-profile parents connected to them.😢
Wow, I’m so happy you are covering this as a Gilbert resident, but why at 5am AZ time? Ouch! I have known the Renner family for many years as the oldest daughter, Avery was a gymnast with my daughters. This has been a horribly handled investigation in my opinion with the Renner’s and other wealthy families using their wealth and status to hide their children from justice.
It was pretty quick all in all since all were arrested right? They said they were waiting on the coroner report so it's pretty tight now. Seems tight cases against them for ⚖️.

Glad you are covering this,Peter! I live in the area and work with Preston's aunt. The kidnapping charge explained is that in Arizona, the law states kidnapping to include detaining someone against their will. These beatings have been occurring for a few years by the so called group of "Gilbert Goons". Preston's death brought many of the other incidents to light. In addition, the state is also looking at whether the Goons can be classified as a street gang which apparently can heighten the charges. This group's main motive appears to be randomly beating other kids,often 5 or more on 1 and recording it and even posting the beatings online. Thank God they are finally being held accountable.

These kids are cowards. The police knew what was going on. They mist also be included in this trial, fired and send to jail. CORRUPTION, CORRUPTION, CORRUPTION

The feral teens doing those flash mob lootings, the car jackings, doing the knock out game, just causing terror and chaos on other citizens, their parents Should be held as accomplices after the fact too.
These teens supposedly beat up other kids, so their parents Had to know, or at least they had to hear rumors about their teens being in a gang.
When the parents are held accountable for their teen's crimes too, maybe it will stop this epidemic of violence from these feral teens we are experiencing?!

I was bullied K-6 but bullying never got this out of control. Like we had to deal one on one with bullies. Eventually I grew to be 6’3” 220 and started stepping in when others got bullied. Wish I would have stepped in before I gained size. I preach to my kids if you bully a kid at school you’re gonna deal with me when you get home.

Fear suppresses, not cures, violence. Lead & teach by example of love, kindness, acceptance, NOT fear of violence from their parent.
@@debshipman4697Dealing with your parent doesn’t necessarily mean violence! It could just mean the child would be punished for bullying. Punishment doesn’t mean physical violence.

The criticism of how long it took/inaction should absolutely be directed towards their schools. They let these guys be in school, in class until their arrests. Other students were terrified.
Yes, one student who was beaten at an In N Out by one of them was forced to be in the same class with the attacker!!!! His father eventually had to send his son to live with his mom in London cause he couldn’t keep him safe here

Thank you for covering this - we are project lily and our mission is to combat the teen on teen violence . We have done awareness walks - we are working on getting petitions signed - calling out school districts that aren’t reporting bullying - we have shown up at the court appearances- we have several events planned to support the victim’s family. We would love to help bring continued awareness of this story in anyway .
How about petitioning the SA or DA to prosecute each of the parents? That’s what needs to be done, and hasn’t.
And people worry about black gangs. Just shows it is every where. May God help our world.
Yes Yes Yes!! Please cover this!! I am from the area and the gossip is never ending It’s hard to know what’s real and what isn’t. It’s been said parents hid kid out of town while he healed from the fight- beloved football coach lost his job for cover up- one of the kids refused to be transported from jail to court and finally went the next day-one family got a police “ escort”to and from court. The list goes on and on. There seems to be a lot of corruption and cover ups and special treatment for some involved. There is also Richard Kuehner who had to send his son to live out of the country because of the bullying and beating his son received and the threats to him and his by teens and the police didn’t do anything.
The " beloved coach " was absolutely awful person. We dealt with his a few times and.. no thx.. rich, entitled, rude, rules don't apply to me.. feel was just oozing from him
So glad to see LYK covering this case. The possible parental involvement seems different than in the Crumbley case. A "whistle blower" has come out indicating that one of the fathers - who owns a successful business - colluded with others to send son involved in the beating out of the state until bruises, etc., the son received from the fight were healed. I'm interested to see how the court handles a very complicated case with many involved including possible cover-up by parents.
They haven’t been talking of prosecuting the parents, at all. They definitely were made well aware their kids were out beating up kids, and did nothing. These parents are absolutely more culpable than the Crumbleys, by far.
I hope you will cover this case... My kids went to same high school as Preston. There is a lot of fear in our community. The fatal attack was only a few miles from our home...

This is my neighborhood and remember this is the same Police Department that allowed the murder of Charles vallow to happen without any question... that was the whole start of the Lori Vallow case. Back before Christmas I received a text with the name of the murderer of Preston. It was if the whole neighborhood knew but everything was so protected. The Sheriff's Office apologized yesterday because one of their deputies escorted the Renner family to court and used the back entrance. There are so many layers.
The SAME thing happened in Las Vegas last year!! A kid was beaten to death by classmates. Suspects are Ages 13-17. They’ve arrested 9 of 10 kids, and half are being tried as adults.

Even those who dont live in the east valley are very emotionally interested in this case. I live in downtown phoenix and once i heard of this case I've made the 45mim-hour drive to support basketball games and orange out for preston support walks.
Thanks for covering this. I live in queen creek and my daughter goes to one of the schools these boys go to and this has been so sad. The community is upset because the families were definitely hiding these boys.

I'm so happy to see you covering this case Peter! I live in Gilbert AZ where the "Gilbert Goons" reside. Preston and his family deserve justice and I'm glad it seems to FINALLY be coming down the pipe line! This case is so sad not only because it involves the death of a young boy but also because of how absolutely senseless it all was....over a cheap $10-20 necklace. The community has really tried to rally around Prestons family and also hold the Gilbert and Queen Creek police departments feet to the fire. A lot of the outrage isn't necessarily the amount of time it took but WHY it took so long. Loads of speculation of corruption, powerful parents of some of the "goons", ect. There were plenty of people/witnesses at the party where Preston was brutally beaten and loads of other crimes perpetuated by the Goons caught on video over the past 12-14 months. The scope of the investigation was not as vast as the Maricopa DA would like the public to believe. They had it narrowed down to at least half a dozen guys months ago but the parents of most of these guys shielded them....and for some reason the police and town council just fell back. With all that being said, #JusticeforPrestonLord. 😇

@@brandimadrid2219There’ve been scads of vids of most of the incidents, but LE and Maricopa Cnty Atty have been maddeningly slow and oddly unable to address the problem. Police reports were made, then witnesses & neighbors expressed fear. Victims requested LE/CJ response, but that’s been minimal-to-zero over time, including the initial reaction to Preston’s murder. The reasons given for the lag time in addressing the crime are nonsensical. Anti-social behavior amongst the upper-crust adults & their offspring has seemed rampant for years. Meanwhile, for whatever reason, the criminal justice system in the area has appeared awol.
I am from Peoria Arizona, Arizona. This is a very important case because it shows how gangs of kids are causing these issues. It’s something that several cities have been getting teams together to try and keep this from happening. My thoughts as a 70-year-old is that all the parents are out working several jobs to make ends meet and aren’t raising, their kids the proper way. Thanks Lawyer You Know for covering this.

Some of the kids actually lived in a very well to do area so the parents were more than ok. I believe they were some of the ones covering for or hiding their kids so they could not be charged.
@@tanyandavies-wall654Some well to do parents do not have time for their kids. They give them money so that they do not bother them. Also some rich kids are arrogent and think they can do whatever they want. With the videos taken it should be clear cut who are the guilty ones.
It's interesting this somehow reminds me of the Apple River stabbing but they picked on an adult.

I live in awhatukee and have three middle-high school aged siblings, plus my own baby. It's been an unsettling case to say the least. But also I just feel like Phoenix and the greater areas aren't safe at all by many metrics in general

My friend’s son was beaten a year ago in Maricopa County walking out to his car in the evening by a group of unknown kids similar to this. He is only 22 but it has entirely changed his outlook on life. He is really suffering from PTSD and the head trauma he received. To date nothing has been done because there was no video. They didn’t steal anything from him, they just seemed to be doing it for “fun”. So sad what some kids are doing with their lives these days.

Just like Mr. Miu ‘s case from WIsconsin, he was a 52 yrs .old mechanical engineer ganged up by teens and young adults in Apple River. A sad case as well, he was attacked and defended himself but tragically one teen died and other 4 were injured. One teen recorded the entire incident for the culture as he was chanting. It was indeed self- defense. But now he will spend the rest of his life in jail, while those teens and young adults go about their lives with no consequences. Harsh world we live in.

This story is breaking my heart. Other nonsensical stories are upsetting, but a beating, regardless of death, is just so tragic. My heart hurts for that boy. And all lives are ruined because young men try to be hard asses. I have 4 teenagers, 3 of which are young men. I’d be devastated forever 😢
Thank you for covering this. It's such a heartbreaking case. I live in AZ, and the families have been extremely frustrated with how long the investigation had taken before action taking place. It has started a conversation about the legality of brass knuckles that were used, at least with other victims. I don't know if they were used in this case.

Live in Gilbert and have been following this case since it happened. Renner family is wealthy and there have been very weird stuff. We believe that’s why it’s taken so long because local police kind of push this case down along with alllll the other assaults these guys and others (including the older Renner brother) that have happened over the last several years. Check out Rachel Mitchell’s comments in press conferences- horrific attitude.

This case goes so much deeper, and has so many tentacles in the area. Links to the police, town council, school positions, etc. And then the apprently illegal acts of fraud, tampering, etc of the parents.
I think some of the outrage over the long time frame is anger over the police inaction on widespread teen violence in the area. This incident kind of focused the attention and outrage of residents. But this is also a very wealthy area, make of that what you will....
Teen violence isn't only a problem in America, its bad here in the UK as well, and knife crime x

We hear something every day on social media about the coverups whether it is involving parents, or even the school system has been accused of helping to cover this up. It’s all very sad. This used to be a safe place and it concerns me for my grandkids who also live here.

I am so happy you are doing this. I am in Phoenix AZ, and this needs exposure. Weird, and sad things have been ignored or covered up in Gilbert and Queen Creek for a few years. It took a murder for the police to do anything on so many similar attacks.

I hope the parents are scrutinized severely, and held accountable. It isn’t reasonable to assume, youths acting like this, for at least a year’s time, their parents aren’t going to know, suspect, or wonder what their kids are doing when they aren’t at home.🤬
I am a Canadian, with somewhat "Canadian Trials", but I am amazed at how many horrific and sad cases their are in states. I was in Vegas when the Route 91 country festival in Oct 2017, I am definetely to terrified to go the states again but interested in cases in the states.😢

Sad thing is even after Preston was killed other kids from this same group continued their violence and beat up another kid 2 months after. This violence has to stop! Also they held him down which is kidnapping which allows the first degree felony murder charge as well as the burglary charge.
Guilty for them all! This bullying needs to stop!! I believe we can include many Teachers I. This bullying category these days. Just teach reading,writing and arithmetic and forget you opinions.

Thanks for covering this case. Law enforcement corruption keeps rearing its head in this case. If it wasn't for local moms getting organized on social media and gathering pics and videos and sending them to LE, and local media making this a priority and working directly with this group of moms, I truly doubt anything would have happened.
I live in the area. Teen attacks have been going on for years and the cops did not fully investigate until Peston was killed. Even then it took the community outrage for them to open up past closed cases. There are multiple reports of these random attacks. It is horrible that it took Preston's death for police to do thir jobs. There are also civil cases against the teen families and at least one of the school districts in the area relating to these assaults.

I also live in the area. This was not a "fight". This was a group attack and is part of a pattern of random attacks on innocent kids.
I live only miles from Queen Creek. I taught school for QCUSD for more than 10 years This community has gone from a sleepy community to a nightmare with all the major problems of Phoenix. I will attend many of these trials. There is something definitely amiss here.
