you know EA only advertised the game right? It actually gets boring in like 10 hours, but it's still not very good, it's average mp only game that should've been sold for 20$ or even free.
This game is possibly the biggest disappointment I've ever seen in my near 30 year gaming life. It's nice to see you pick up on some of the complaints. Didn't hear much about them from IGN, how strange...
People were disappointed? EA and Dice said what was in the game and what was not, I very well expected this months before release. People thought I was trying to get attention or just trolling and look what happened.
Logan Elder Whether we knew it was coming or not over the last few months, it is still a disappointment to see how it has turned out. And Mack didn't even touch on the lack of space stuff and the terrible vehicle controls, or the power ups replacing on map vehicles etc etc. So much fail on everything except a visual level.
***** Oh I agree, I knew it was coming and lowered my expectations accordingly. But it is still a huge missed opportunity and a disappointment to think about what could have been done. It is style over substance, if they had put all of this style into a decent game, it could have been very special indeed.
+Xuvial Sylvester That's exactly what modern gaming is now. They don't care about gaming. They just want to sell a product. They should be in the food industry. Just mass produce and sell the same shit year after year. Gaming has become McDonalds. Publishers want to produce the same lazy shit they did last year, and people are more than eager to eat it. Ah, what did you do different this time? I used less Ketchup. I guess that's new. What will you do next time? I'll put on more pickles. But it's the same shit burger one way or the other.
What are we going to do different next time? We'll put in wall running. Anything else? Nope. same game, just this time you can run on walls for a few seconds.
+Xuvial Sylvester This i can agree with. I think the game is fine the way it is, but it will die in a year i'm sure, unless they can keep it going somehow. I think Mack was way too harsh on it though.
It'll die in a year because next year they'll be a new 60$ CoD game everyone will bandwagon over to. They chocho train from shooter to shooter every single year.
+Zealote No, you don't. DICE is awful when it comes to singleplayer campaigns. Give the single player of Battlefield 3 and 4 a try. You'll change your mind.
As 45 year old gamer playing for 25 I've never seen a better looking game, never heard such great fx and score, but in all the years I've played I've never been so disappointed with the lack of game play, which for such a big franchise is criminal, when you lament what this could have been with as much attention paid to game play as sound an visuals.
When I bash Fallout 4 for still using a game engine that has always been, at best, wonky and that it looks like garbage for a big studio AAA game I always hear the same thing: "It's not about the graphics!". Here we have a game that has nothing going for it except the graphics and the very same people fucking love this game. Video games becoming mainstream was the worst thing that could've happened to them.
The funny thing about those RDE's (Random Death Events) is that the *average gamer* can feel it but is shut down & called a "noob" every time he/she complains about it (or even points it out).
Stephan Olsen ....you clearly don't know how much of an FPS *veteran* Mack is. If _he_ says that a multiplayer FPS game is too "chaotic" in a non-fun way, then he's probably right.
Paradox Acres Same, I'm an average FPS player as I don't play them constantly, love a good lot of them but I play them in spurts but even then in a GOOD online shooter I can do pretty decently and have great moments as well as my bad ones. When a game doesn't have stability and they try to cover that up with a lot of shite, it just shortens the game's lifespan for a lot of players. I love chaos, but then skill or smart plays are out done by pure chaos, bullshit imbalances or bad map design it really just takes the fun out of it all.
I feel less angry after watching that - you said everything I would have said. I can put my Valium away now. Well, for an hour at least. Don't suppose you can review my 16% rent increase as well (my landlord is a greedy c**t)? Your vids are good therapy.
+Hellmut Sturmstout His way of putting ideas into words completely correlates with what I feel and think at the moment. I used to read IGN and other bullshit, but now I only watch Mack's channel
+Vadim Wise You can safely go to total biscuit channel as well :) Not the same type of guy as mack, but highly professional and will always give you an honest opinion.
Mack, grenades were in both previous games... and just an FYI, the original SWBF was a medal of honor reskin. Did you even play the old games or are you just regurgitating shit you've heard somewhere?
+Worth A Buy He is right though, Mack. Both previous titles featured grenades. I'm not sure how that changes /anything/ in the review, but it is an accurate statement.
+Worth A Buy i mean swbf 1&2 were absolutely copying bf. lack of classes can be pretty much blamed on the fanbase because dice was pressured not to make anything like bf.
They should've made the 40v40 maps kind of like rush in battlefield. Once the AT-ATs reach a certain point on the map, the bases change so the empire spawns at that point, and the rebels spawn some distance ahead of that point. There should be a few of these points so the battle is always close to the AT-ATs but everyone isn't spawning on top of each other.
Not that it matters for the point that was being made, but Tribes came out in '98, not '96. Bloody awesome, it was. I played it religiously for years. Hell, I still keep the old match .rec files around for a watch now and then.
Good to finally see a fair and balanced review of this game. You've pretty much nailed it Mack. I'm really enjoying playing it but 75% of the reason I'm loving this game is because I love Star Wars. If this was another Battlefield I wouldn't have even bought it. It's basically a really well made Battlefield mod with a Lucasfilm license. But it looks fantastic and when you're playing with friends it's flipping mint. I wasn't expecting to enjoy it this much but when you're riding a speeder bike around Endor or jumping onto an AT-AT's back... It really made my week.
I agree with some of the points you bring up, but you've got to understand the target audience Mack. It is aimed towards Star Wars fans, a large percentage of which are either casual gamers or don't even game at all. If DICE were to make this a strategy based game it would be significantly less accessible for a lot of Star Wars fans. If this isn't your cup of tea, then don't drink it. Simple as that.
+Pickle Tickler Wow, someone here who does not believe his opinion is worth more than the over 13 million who bought the game. I never thought I'd see that, I thought we were strictly elitist only over here at Worth A Buy.
+Pickle Tickler No reason to shit all over the Battlefront franchise and then dare calling this bantha piss "Battlefront". That's what's pissing me off the most.
+Pickle Tickler What? Star Wars fans casual or don't game? Umm Knights of the Republic and several other high quality Star Wars games in the past have been made and Star wars fans were all over them, hell even non Star Wars fans got into more of Star Wars because of them. No, it's simply that this games was rushed out barebones, to come out just in time for the double Holiday rush and coincide with the movie's release. It's just the lazyness is laid on thick with licensed games and Star Wars has been give the shit end of the stick multiple times.
if you want flanking and teamwork, you should check out and review Verdun. It's a WW1 trench warfare kinda game. Seems like you would enjoy it, Also Insurgency is great too.
+Caliboyjosh10 Recommened these a couple of times already and can only agree. They are the exact opposite of what Triple-A games have become, hence they're actually fun to play.
Caliboyjosh10 I don't have a problem with the quality. I think it's top notch. I have a problem with the setting. Trench warfare sucks. It's not fun at all. That's not how I want to spend my evenings after work. Ironically, it's the game's realism and authenticity that makes it bad for me.
I agree with everything you said about games of old vs these quick kill/death respawn fests. For these shorter attention span players of the day who need instant satisfaction and endorphin release. The price? Dying and respawning as much as you kill, so everyone feels like Rambo.
You should try Planetside 2, Mack. It has pretty much everything you were asking for from this, with a few traces of Triple A bullshit sure, but it's vastly better than most shit now-a-days.
Well said Mac. I respect your opinion over any other youtube/online reviewer. You are a huge asset to the gaming community. After hearing what you said about this game and what you would do differently I have decided not to purchase it. Instead I pledge the AAA price tag money to any game you have a major hand in designing. So I put it to you. Make me a game Mac. MAKE THE WORLD A GAME! A game to show the youth of today what a real multi-player online game is. A game that will live on in history as one of the best games ever created. A game where you care if you die and where skill matters. Strategy, vehicles, base invasions, TEAM COOPERATION! Get on a CROWD FUNDING site and set it up because I'm sure there are a lot of people out there that have the same opinion as me. There are probably a lot of people that have coding experience that would be willing to lend a hand for free once the framework is setup. You don't even need to make a full game. Have a great idea, buy an engine, implement it well, and provide the tools to allow the community to mold it into what they want. Look at Minecraft. Granted it's not the game most of us want to play anymore but you have to admit 5 or 6 years ago it was revolutionary. If you try and fail, so be it. At this point I would rather see my money go to someone deserving try and make a decent multiplayer game compared to rake in as much money as possible before the players realize what's happened. Sorry for the long read but I'm just fed up with COD like games. If I wanted to "pew pew pew" I would buy COD!
You should try Project Reality Battlefield 2. It is completely free to play with no micro transactions and requires extreme teamwork with your squad and the whole team.
+Noah Martz This as well as ArmA require you to have a proper team/clan/younameit in order to have fun. Playing public in any of these is just not enjoyable and only a microscopic scope of the actual thing. Can't expect him to go and search for a proper group, play with them for weeks or months and present the real spirit behind it afterwards. Also, I feel like you really need to have an itch for that simulated combat as it, more often than not, requires a shitton of patience and waiting and in his case editing of hours and hours of content. After all these Mech Warrior Online videos I watched on Mackscorner, I kinda wished he had spent his time in a better game like ArmA instead.
Mack you are THE shining light in the darkness that is the modern gaming industry. Please never sell out and keep doing what you are doing. I made a mistake, I pre ordered StarWars Battlefront then watched your review...Never again. Complete respect and will never buy/pre order until i see your game reviews from now on. Subbed and ultimate respect. #bringchangetothegamingindustry
Mack, I am just a fan of your channel, I totally agree of your opinion that we are living the nightmare of gamming, with titles made to get money instead of being good pieces of entertaining art. I've been looking on your channel to get reviews of games before actually buying them. Hope things get better and we can enjoy games as good as they used to be. Keep up the good work, man
To be honest, the old Battlefront games were basically a Star Wars version of Battlefield games. One of the reasons this one felt so off is because they tried too hard to not make it seem similar to a Battlefield game. You got the vehicle drops rather than spawns, lack of classes/kits, cooldowns rather than ammo, and ridiculous health regen due to no health packs.
The thing is, now that it's released, they're not going to make drastic changes. They'll leave the game as it is, unless there are bugs that make the game unplayable. They've already got your money, they have nothing pushing them to change the progression system. A good progression system is one that unlocks weapons as you play/level-up, but doesn't give you an advantage. These weapons would introduce different play-styles, but would be massively overpowered compared to the starting guns. Come on, even Call of Duty manages it; Dice should be able to.
+Seahorse No such a thing as a "good progression system" in a proper "battlefield game". They should make a game with depth built into the CORE GAEMPLAY instead. They can achieve this designing maps and the spawn system in such a way that travel times before engagements are higher and use of transport vehicles is necessary, implementation of teamwork and communication tools and of course, skill based shooting.
@16:00 map design... remember back in the day when we COULD design our own maps. Those were the good old days. There was no ranking system bulls**t - everyone had the same stuff and you played to be the best with the same stuff. I *hate* ranking up and unlocked BS. I'm too old (38) to spend time doing all that crap. Hopefully someone will hear us @Mack.
+Homer Simpson I was kind of hopeful when I first learned of it last year. I mean DICE did make BF: Vietnam which was a great if obscure game. I gave up hope when I heard of all the CoD game mechanics.
No,I couldn't have given less of a shit about this game at all,I knew exactly what it was gonna be like and since they rip everyone off with their over inflated DLC I mean really!?! £40 more or $60 I think when you've already bought the game, the maps look shit and the game just looks boring as fuck tbh
To be fair the meta for what I played online of Battlefront 2 (on the PS2) was 'noobtubing', people using the rocket soldier + grenades constantly. I do have to say I wish they stuck to a static class system with only minor tweaks allowed; that really made the game feel more team based and forced everyone into a well defined role.
Dude I love you, but you are NOT an experienced fps gamer. You had a warning with a directional marker telling you incoming missle for 4 full seconds and didnt move an inch. I agree with alot of what you said but not that
He was ranked in top 100 players for quake back in the day. He is experienced but the way multiplayer games are at the moment, they do hold your hand too much. My fav fps in the last 5 years is probably battlefield 4, and even that holds your hand way too much. The only game that I feel hasn't is Doom 4, and that's great
Mack, this dude is saying you arent an experienced pew-pewer! You suck at pew-pew, its what ya gotta learn to do! What a fucking joke, "your incoming missle warning flashes were flashing for a full minute and you didnt move!" Son, in our day we didnt need "directional warning markers", enjoy your mass pew-pew event. I'm sure you can pew-pew with the best of them.
14:50 Funny thing is, I didn't know that was Mack I killed until I saw the name next to the crosshair. I honestly thought it was just a regular player until I got messaged about it on Origin 5 seconds later :P Mack found this bit hilarious XD
The awesome thing with having no progression system is that the devs will have to make the game with all weapons in mind and usually they will build the game to make a player want to use every weapon at some point in time. Progression systems generally build up to a certain weapon and the player will stay at that.
+JAnx01 I agree. With star wars, they've had systems for balancing the different types of units. The progression system here just forces the player to grind. I'd rather have a handful of unit types that have their own pluses/minuses and have some upgrades available to those, atleast then there would be more variety and skill required.
+Worth A Buy Annnndd today according to another streamer I watch (Boogie2988) EA have announced a sequel to Star Wars: Battlefront, AND they're already working on it, screw the people who've already paid £40 for the Season Pass for the 4 Expansions that aren't even out yet........
+Worth A Buy Co-op is amazing in LOTV. If you fancy some games let me know. Would love to play a few co-op's with you Mack. Looking forward to the WAB anyway.
....you know that scene in revenge of the sith when Anakin kills mace windu to save palpatine? I feel like what happened was the emperor crying for help was remedied by me forking over 60$ and then after 3 hours I was like "what have I done!?" Just like that scene in the movie lol. "What have I done!?"
one does not simply say this game is better than the original 2. swbf 1 and 2 on the ps2 were essentially my childhood. iam now much older and wiser on pc and still believe those 2 games that are now over 10 years old are superior to this...still....with all the updates and dlc.... those games never had dlc, it was all in one package as a game. this game had the potential and I was so exited when it was announced, then I played the beta and I was disappointed. supposed to be the ultimate star wars experience in gaming but couldn't even be bothered to add features in that a 10+ year old game had. take the vehicle combat for example, in the original you had all of the vehicles lined up by your base that you could get in. you could go to the rebel base hangar on hoth and get in a snowspeeder and fly out of the hangar to take down an AT-AT with your tow cable. now you collect a stupid pickup and press a magic button to spawn in one in mid-air. same with the AT-ST's, press the magic button and spawn in one. so disappointing. I cant believe they are making a second one. and people will actually buy it because its star wars. I have been a star wars fan since I was a kid and even I see past the pretty canvas. its call of duty re textured, its a fake. EA has ruined my childhood, and iam pretty sure they might have ruined yours too.
With such an abundance of awesome characters and storylines to draw from how do you make a star wars game WITHOUT a campaign? I won't buy this game because they were too lazy to make what quite possibly could have been one of the most epic campaigns ever, I mean look what WB did with Batman and that's not nearly as intetesting as the Star Wars universe. Love your honesty in the reviews Mack, you have saved me a lot of time and $$, keep up the great work!!!
This game is basically the polar opposite of Fallout 4. Looks great (especially in comparison to Fallout 4's mediocre graphics) but has no soul or reason to keep playing. I'd take things to do and shit graphics over amazing graphics and nothing to do, any day.
U guys know that the hero mode is a complete rip off of AVP 2010. Where its the same except its call "Predator Hunt". Same with the other hero mode its a ripoff of goldeneye's hero mode
+sc2WaLLE Another person that never watched all of the other video, I basically destroyed the game in the other video as well and told people not to pre order it.
+Worth A Buy I watch all your videos start to finish. Yours is the first channel I load up when I get home from work to see if there's any new videos. I've enjoyed it for years now. I just felt a need to post this observation. Sorry amigo. To be fair, it was an absolutely incredible Christmas jumper..
+sc2WaLLE That's good to hear but you should know I would never sell out, no rewards exists that could ever make me lie to thousands of gamers just to line my own pockets, never gonna happen. In fact I long for the day I get offered cash for a review, I will make such an awesome video to expose it.
+Worth A Buy Good for you, not sure I could say the same if someone dangled that jumper in front of me. Just while we're talking, can I confirm a long held suspicion that yours is a shields accent? (no follow up questions!)
+Worth A Buy *rubs hands* this is gonna be good. As i start watching this, i'll say i don't have too high expectations but i'm really interested in your opinion mack
+Worth A Buy Do you know why modern games are shit like this? It's because they are not made for mature players. They are made for kids with ADHD who lack any skill or higher brain function to adapt or utilize anything other then a pew pew pew easy mode. When i was a kid we used cheats to get instant gratification, when i passed that stage i stopped using them and i enjoyed the challenge the game put before me. And that was before internet was a thing let alone a commonly used thing like today. So gaming companies have a problem. Now that online gaming is a MUST and in online gaming cheating is not allowed little kiddies still have to get their instant gratification, so they dumb down the game so that the little spoiled brat can have it's FUN NOW. No learning or adaptation needed, just pew pew with a super looking graphics and big explosions. And that's it. You hate this games as they are not made for you (nor any mature player out there). Game companies go where the money is, and as we stand now, money is at the parents of all this spoiled ADHD brats so we get games that will appeal to them.
I've been following your videos for a while now and ı just wanted to say that you are getting better and better on your reviews. Thank you Meck. I also laughed hard at pew pew part :DD
To me it just looks too fast paced for there to be any real tactics. When all you see people do is running around like their heads are cut off because the game allows them to, then you lose any real motive to use tactics. There's no taking cover, leaning out to take shots, aiming is to too easy, no fatigue, etc.. Thats my biggest problem with these games(COD,BF, and now SWBF.) You should still be able to sprint and move fast at the expense of not being able to aim well for a short period of time. The game would benefit if it slowed it's pace and let players really sink in to what is going on. Anyway, thanks for the heads up, I'll let this game pass.
Mack, I think you would really like insurgency. It is one of the most tactical and affordable games. It has no progression system, you can play at the same level field as everyone else who owns the game. When you talk about the tactics, this game is full of them. I had a great time voice chatting with two of my friends while we coordinated together to capture the objective. The multiplayer is perfection, and even though the AI isn't great, coop is also great fun. The game forces you to think and be patient without being the full simulation that Arma 3 is (the maps are pretty large, but far from huge).
There's a ton of skilled devs Mack. Believe me, most devs working on the most popular franchises don't want to make these decisions. They're forced into dumbing down and carbon copying previous games. Big games are all about making a good return of investment to the investors. That means playing it safe, dumbing it down so it reaches more consumers and shipping it as fast as possible. Not saying there aren't a lot of new guys with no experience, but mostly there's no more room for older guys who know what a good game is. Also, since we've been catering to the lowest common denominator, more and more people are gamers and they can't digest anything that isn't pew pew. Eventually, they'll gain experience and demand more from games. You know what I'm talking about. You're an old school PC gamer who's seen progress stop 20 years ago. We still haven't reached the complexity and possibilities that we had back then.
14:35 that guy on the blue team that called gg when the empire has only made it to one check point. he knows how fucking one sided that shitty map is...
Also you forgot some tings: -No 2 player vechiles -No clone wars -No campaign -No calactic qonquest -No instant action -Season pass -Shit ton of DLC coming -Emotes -No interactable natives(tusken raiders, jawas, ewoks). -Mountains unfair because player with no jump pack can never get there and you can just pew pew everybody in the back -Spawn camping -Pick up vechiles are horrible instead you should be able to see them standing and go in
Does anyone here think this guy sounds like the elf character voice from the The Elder Scrolls series the moment this video started playing with this guy talking? He sounds exactly like the elf characters from The Elder Scrolls! I'm gaining nostalgia here for no apparent reason, that's awesome! XD
I got real nervous about this one when I heard the beta was out, installed it for my cousin to try out, and then a few days later when he had his fill, the beta was taken down. It was like they threw out a short beta just to say they've had beta testing. That was the first sign I got that they didn't care about this game.
Mack please do a review of GRAV reborn(It's a early acess game xD) GRAV is a sand box experience where you explore a multitude of planets, hunt strange alien creatures, build and defend outposts, craft weapons and armor, and attempt to survive against other players in a hostile environment.(It's like No man's sky)I'm asking because I like that kinda a game but I don't want to waste my money on another endless early acess.
I hope Battlefront 2 goes back to how Battlefront became popular. - We need Class systems - We better maps that have flow ( Something with a Battle line too ) - We need more content in it ( Story, Galactic Conquest, Instant Action Conquest ) - Each map needs to feel different ( Like in Battlefront games if you spawn as a certain faction your at a disadvantage. )
Great video, man. I was really on the fence about buying it because I've heard loads of different things about the game, like how the sound design/graphics were great, while the content was cut in half in comparison to the other games. Thanks for clearing it up for me, as well as for many others I'm sure.
I hate to say I told you so months ago about this game, but....... I agree with you. Most Devs and publishers, especially the publishers just want cash, they dont care about making a good game or telling a good story anymore. Its all about the money. Where did all the experiences game programmers go, they fired them over and over after the project was done, so they moved on to something else. Plus the experiences ones that are left want decent money and noobs will work for peanuts. The less they pay the average employee the more money they can put into their pockets. Look at Turn 10, their boss buys a super fancy car every time a new Forza comes out. Makes 1000x more than the average person and really does nothing, but hold the game back to get more money in his pocket. What gaming needs to do to survive is, pay everyone a decent salary, then a % of the profit for a year or two. That way there is an incentive to make a better game. The better the game (more sales) equal more money. If the game is shit, then they get little money.
That's why i love halo, one of the few skill based shooters, there is never random death events. You only ever die because of a lack of skill or being outnumbered.
I play games to help me with my depression, now when I play modern games, I feel even more depressed.
Mack needs to become a game director and save gaming

This was on point and fucking hilarious. Well done.
I love your content.
I love how it transitioned into having about dogs having coats haha
You wait 10 years for a game to come out and its boring after 10 minutes. Screw EA.
you know EA only advertised the game right?
It actually gets boring in like 10 hours, but it's still not very good, it's average mp only game that should've been sold for 20$ or even free.
Mantas Pavardė You work for free too?
This game is possibly the biggest disappointment I've ever seen in my near 30 year gaming life. It's nice to see you pick up on some of the complaints. Didn't hear much about them from IGN, how strange...
People were disappointed? EA and Dice said what was in the game and what was not, I very well expected this months before release. People thought I was trying to get attention or just trolling and look what happened.
Logan Elder
Whether we knew it was coming or not over the last few months, it is still a disappointment to see how it has turned out. And Mack didn't even touch on the lack of space stuff and the terrible vehicle controls, or the power ups replacing on map vehicles etc etc. So much fail on everything except a visual level.
They didn't have hype for games over 15 years ago, get real. Pfft, 30 years.
CodPatrol Les Grossman
I've read your comment three times and still have no idea what you're trying to say?
*****
Oh I agree, I knew it was coming and lowered my expectations accordingly. But it is still a huge missed opportunity and a disappointment to think about what could have been done. It is style over substance, if they had put all of this style into a decent game, it could have been very special indeed.
Star Wars Battlefront should have been great. They just need to update the old Battlefront 2 with better graphics and polish it and it would be great.
Commando Master , Thats exactly what they should have done. But nnnooooooo, the pricks have to make more and more money. Sad world we live in.
AAA Gaming of Today: Pew pew pew pew pew pew pew pew pew pew pew pew pew pew pew pew!!!!!!!
LMAO ^o^
check out battlenonsense's 1982 concept.
+pikkuhakki2 check out cod3
FearDBro ?
The game is "fun" but in an utterly hollow sense. It is just a cash cow devoid of any soul.
+Drain Blut damn great way of explaining it.
The graphics are so beautiful and the sound so amazing, I wish it was actually a full game with a campaign. :( I'd buy it then
story would've been shit
Sehtreth so you want multiplayer but with A.I instead of people with a COD level of shit story
Al Malone No shit sherlock. What is this, you come here to talk shit then point out the obvious. This is what you do in your spare time?
TheUnbeholden , you mad bro
+Zealote
No, you don't.
Best dog coat review I have ever watched 10/10
Great review overall, keep up the great work!
+Sloth man lol
+Worth A Buy Laughed my ass off when you talked about it XD
+Worth A Buy Even if you were wrong about the dog thing ;) Right about games, wrong about the dog.
Always enjoy watching these review for a good laugh!
Jedi Academy multiplayer makes this look like a mobile game.
+Dresdenstl
Because it IS an overblown mobile game.
It's that bad huh? But hey it's ea.
+Dresdenstl It definitely feels like a mobile game with no accuracy penalty on the move. Also, the feature lackluster...
Pew Pew!
The funny thing about those RDE's (Random Death Events) is that the *average gamer* can feel it but is shut down & called a "noob" every time he/she complains about it (or even points it out).
+Paradox Acres Thus I found you again, and I agree with ya.
Glitch . *:)*
Stephan Olsen ....you clearly don't know how much of an FPS *veteran* Mack is.
If _he_ says that a multiplayer FPS game is too "chaotic" in a non-fun way, then he's probably right.
Nick Santillo
Exactly. I'm not a good FPS player, but..I've never felt that games like _Halo_ or _Counter Strike_ are unfair or too "chaotic".
Paradox Acres
Same, I'm an average FPS player as I don't play them constantly, love a good lot of them but I play them in spurts but even then in a GOOD online shooter I can do pretty decently and have great moments as well as my bad ones. When a game doesn't have stability and they try to cover that up with a lot of shite, it just shortens the game's lifespan for a lot of players. I love chaos, but then skill or smart plays are out done by pure chaos, bullshit imbalances or bad map design it really just takes the fun out of it all.
Well said. I especially liked the Tribes reference. That made a lightbulb go off in my head.
I feel less angry after watching that - you said everything I would have said. I can put my Valium away now. Well, for an hour at least. Don't suppose you can review my 16% rent increase as well (my landlord is a greedy c**t)? Your vids are good therapy.
+Jason Mitchell
Agreed, Mack simply voices our thoughts.
***** Okay, thanks for the info!
Stay for the Tribes comments at the end, this guy knows his stuff!!
Mack, grenades were in both previous games... and just an FYI, the original SWBF was a medal of honor reskin. Did you even play the old games or are you just regurgitating shit you've heard somewhere?
+Arthur Dent Sorry but you sound like you are the one regurgitating shit you heard.
+Worth A Buy
He is right though, Mack.
+Fuhq Ewe Not denying that, it's MOHAA bit that is so wrong.
Please, explain how it was just a Medal of Honor reskin?! I really want to hear this!
+Frode Hauge Yeah so its been 17 years, which is still a bloody long time ago.
You never forget your first love.
Great review, Mack. Next up I think you should do a indie game to keep things fresh. The barfight game "Paint the town red" is really fun.
Nice review as always :)
+SeriousFox Cool seeing you here. I've seen some of your videos, and I enjoy them.
SkinnierSteve I'm glad you enjoyed it. Thx!
Hubert cumberdale Mine?
+Pickle Tickler You're wrong.
I love your vision of old school gaming! Games need to be hard ! The learning curve must be there in any game.
(Nerd rage voice)
"HOW DARE YOU CALL IT A GUN! THAT is an A280C Blaster Rifle, one of the more favored weapons of the Alliance commandos!"
15:34 "It's just a big fucking pew pew" Made me laugh so much.
if you want flanking and teamwork, you should check out and review Verdun. It's a WW1 trench warfare kinda game. Seems like you would enjoy it, Also Insurgency is great too.
+Caliboyjosh10 Recommened these a couple of times already and can only agree. They are the exact opposite of what Triple-A games have become, hence they're actually fun to play.
+Caliboyjosh10
I didn't like Verdun. I didn't even find kills satisfying. It's interesting as a historical simulation game, but as a shooter it's meh.
Kakto Tak
Not enough XP for a head0r?
+Kakto Tak true it isn't a great polished game with alot of what it does, just imagine if they had a bigger budget what they could do
Caliboyjosh10
I don't have a problem with the quality.
+nordic fatcheese He's played it and reviewed it if I recall, and loved it.
Toadsworth! I couldn't find it on his channel?
Then I was thinking of another channel, maybe he did a mackscorner on it then.
+Noah Martz
What this guy says. It and Arma are the only populated shooters right now with any tactics involved.
+Noah Martz He does not review free games.
The Chosen One It seemed like a personal recommendation to play, not a request to review to me.
+The Chosen One he reviewed World Of Warships.
*YOU WANT GOOD MAPS MACK ???*
Play the classic Unreal Tournament games.
Now those games were THE SHIT !!!
Keep up the good work, man
I feel like 60 bucks is too much for any multiplayer only game. Especially if they sell dlc for another 60 bucks.
But, honestly, I don't think Battlefront should have a progression system.
JAnx01 I like to compare EA's Battlefront to a glass of water.
The game we want is a nice glass of fruit juice. (Battlefront 1-2)
+Seahorse I think a glass of water is more interesting than that banter piss!
Take a shot whenever he says 'Pew'.
Tribes Vet here... man I remember those awesome times!
Am I only one who didn't give a shit about this game anyways at any point?
I agree with alot of what you said but not that
You mean am not an experienced dumbed down hand holding need a head up warning of incoming projectiles FPS gamer, I agree with than and am so proud.
I honestly thought it was just a regular player until I got messaged about it on Origin 5 seconds later :P
Mack found this bit hilarious XD
+Revan0123 Yeah I popped into the game for some turret footage and get a grenade in the face off you :p
This game reminds me of twerking, selfies, jersey shore cast, Kanye West and selfie sticks.
The awesome thing with having no progression system is that the devs will have to make the game with all weapons in mind and usually they will build the game to make a player want to use every weapon at some point in time. Progression systems generally build up to a certain weapon and the player will stay at that.
+Piegoose Progression systems are a carrot on a stick for games that have barebones lackluster gameplay.
+JAnx01 I agree. With star wars, they've had systems for balancing the different types of units. The progression system here just forces the player to grind. I'd rather have a handful of unit types that have their own pluses/minuses and have some upgrades available to those, atleast then there would be more variety and skill required.
LEGACY OF THE VOID MACK!
+lamey98 Up Next
I agree.
+Worth A Buy your going to heaven for trying to save the gaming idustry
....you know that scene in revenge of the sith when Anakin kills mace windu to save palpatine?
Bolag Mal pew pew
With such an abundance of awesome characters and storylines to draw from how do you make a star wars game WITHOUT a campaign? I won't buy this game because they were too lazy to make what quite possibly could have been one of the most epic campaigns ever, I mean look what WB did with Batman and that's not nearly as intetesting as the Star Wars universe. Love your honesty in the reviews Mack, you have saved me a lot of time and $$, keep up the great work!!!
All the helmetless stormtroopers does it for me....Literally unplayable.
the part about the dog coat was so funny awesome video man
This game is basically the polar opposite of Fallout 4. Looks great (especially in comparison to Fallout 4's mediocre graphics) but has no soul or reason to keep playing.
I'd take things to do and shit graphics over amazing graphics and nothing to do, any day.
I could have swore i heard your knuckles crack before you started talking lol
U guys know that the hero mode is a complete rip off of AVP 2010. Where its the same except its call "Predator Hunt". Same with the other hero mode its a ripoff of goldeneye's hero mode
You are an idiot just because they have that same format doesn't mean there a ripoff you clearly have no brain.
4:56...oh dear god he is changing, quick grab the tranquilliser gun.
Quite a different angle to your previous video for this game for which you were directly incentivised to sell it =/
+sc2WaLLE Another person that never watched all of the other video, I basically destroyed the game in the other video as well and told people not to pre order it.
+sc2WaLLE No, am not a sand dancer :) Had many a good night out through Shields tho :) Am closer to Durham
So true about the dog coats Mack. Good point.
i bought it because it was on a HUGE discount on ps4 store
enjoyed the video like always :) very good idea to change the background music / beat for once, maybe you could do that more often?
Hi mack
+fastdak25 Hi Fastface
+Worth A Buy *rubs hands* this is gonna be good. As i start watching this, i'll say i don't have too high expectations but i'm really interested in your opinion mack
+Worth A Buy Do you know why modern games are shit like this?
It's because they are not made for mature players. They are made for kids with ADHD who lack any skill or higher brain function
to adapt or utilize anything other then a pew pew pew easy mode.
+Jukantos kissass
I've been following your videos for a while now and ı just wanted to say that you are getting better and better on your reviews.
Thank you Meck. I also laughed hard at pew pew part :DD
I've boycotted all EA games from life. Looks like this one is no exception.
I think i'm done with FPS now
they are all the same
There are still some good ones that slip through the cranks.
I will try to find them then
thanks
Check out Insurgency, it felt like a breath of fresh air to me and restored my faith in the genre.
That desert map looks like a Star Wars skinned version of a freaking paintball arena.
This is the greatest review ever LMAO
All I ever do is flank, honest, take the scout passive card so you dont show on mini map and go around behind them... they love it.
Not worth a buy.
Fancy seeing you here.
PocketPasser HI man, another bad year for the Dolphins :(
Mack, I think you would really like insurgency. The game forces you to think and be patient without being the full simulation that Arma 3 is (the maps are pretty large, but far from huge).
congrats on hitting 70.00 subscribers keep it going!
Dude and in the campaign for Battlefront 2 was so deep. It explained a lot about the 501st
What was the game you were talking about at 19:30 that you played in 1996?
This is exactly how this game is! I was so disappointed. And what happened next? Star Wars BF 2. Copy & paste. Except for the different classes.
I really would've wanted to be alive when the games mack talks about first came out, just to experience what gaming was like back then.
14:35 that guy on the blue team that called gg when the empire has only made it to one check point. he knows how fucking one sided that shitty map is...
Thank you so much for actually telling me what its like to play a game instead of advertising it Mack!
Thanks for your honesty as always and making me see things from an different angle
LOL at all the tools trying to argue with Mac. This review was SPOT ON.
Also you forgot some tings:
-No 2 player vechiles
-No clone wars
-No campaign
-No calactic qonquest
-No instant action
-Season pass
-Shit ton of DLC coming
-Emotes
-No interactable natives(tusken raiders, jawas, ewoks).
-Mountains unfair because player with no jump pack can never get there and you can just pew pew everybody in the back
-Spawn camping
-Pick up vechiles are horrible instead you should be able to see them standing and go in
Flip I loved Tribes back in the day.
Totally forgot about that one.
You should do a Retro WAB.
The part with dogs and coats had me dying! Lmao
Great review. Loved the part were you said "It's a death simulator".

Mack did you hurt your hand hitting the bell after the dog rant? Sounds like you almost edited it out. lol. Good review by the way. Keep it up.
Mack please do a review of GRAV reborn(It's a early acess game xD)
GRAV is a sand box experience where you explore a multitude of planets, hunt strange alien creatures, build and defend outposts, craft weapons and armor, and attempt to survive against other players in a hostile environment.(It's like No man's sky)I'm asking because I like that kinda a game but I don't want to waste my money on another endless early acess.
I hope Battlefront 2 goes back to how Battlefront became popular.
- We need Class systems
- We better maps that have flow ( Something with a Battle line too )
- We need more content in it ( Story, Galactic Conquest, Instant Action Conquest )
- Each map needs to feel different ( Like in Battlefront games if you spawn as a certain faction your at a disadvantage. )
I never played the firts two games but after months and months of playing this, it never got old it was so much fun for me.
Oh.... MY GOD....
The rant that starts at 9:09 is fucking beautiful, I loooove this guy. lol
Great video, man. I was really on the fence about buying it because I've heard loads of different things about the game, like how the sound design/graphics were great, while the content was cut in half in comparison to the other games. Thanks for clearing it up for me, as well as for many others I'm sure.
Has Mack ever reviewed the Old Republic? he mentioned he was a huge Star Wars fan. Personally I like the Old Republic Era above all.
I laughed so hard when you started with the pew pew part I love you man!
