  • I'm going to say this first. YOUR GRADES DO NOT DEFINE YOU. It doesn't matter how many courses you take or what the number is at the end of the term... you're on an academic journey that WILL have ups and downs... it's normal. You can take a breath.
    Okay! Today we are talking about how I study! I'll be honest here, there is a chance you do this already BUT I still wanted to take some time to walk you through just what I do. It takes time to figure out how you learn, what is effective for you, and strategies that help you focus and absorb knowledge into that big brain of yours.
    Now, everyone is different... we are different learners, students, people, etc. What works for me may not work for you. Regardless, I wanted to share how I study/my routine that unintentionally helped me achieve a 4.0 GPA. It is a 3 step process plus a 4th step if you want
    I'll won't lie... I'm shocked. I was not expecting last term to go that well... like at all. It didn't feel like it went well. Please do not compare yourself, do not feel discouraged, do not think that if you want to do well this is what you have to do. You've got time to figure things out. This worked for me. Maybe it will work for you too but again... everyone is DIFFERENT 👏🏼👏🏼
    you know the drill 👇🏼👇🏼👇🏼

    So grateful for your channel! I used your Personal Profile tips to help me get into UBC about a week ago and now I'm watching the others to better understand life at uni! At this point your channel might as well be called UBC 101 😂

    Thanks for posting all these helpful videos! I just have one question. Do you have access to the powerpoint beforehand?

    • @MaddyA
      @MaddyA  3 роки тому

      If you mean in class materials, sometimes yes sometimes no... it depends on the prof but for the most part they are usually posted before for students to use in class!

    In the last section of the "Additional Information" part of my application, it shows a box where I can fill in additional comments (maximum 2000 characters), but it is optional. I just want to know if the Additional Comments part in "Additional Information" is something I should fill in

    • @MaddyA
      @MaddyA  3 роки тому

      It says it's optional so you don't have to. I know that's not what you're getting at though... UBC doesn't hold you to whether or not you fill it in. I didn't fill it in and look at me haha! If you have something you want to share that you didn't have a chance to before this is where to do it.

    Hey! It would be super helpful if you explained in more detail of how you do the learning goals part, or maybe give an example of how you use them. I'm assuming you're talking about learning goals from the syllabus and I feel like I would have no idea where to start with that!!

      Thanks for the idea! I will hopefully be coming out with a studying video soon! Final season is upon us so it is the perfect time!!

    Maddy are you back to taking 6 courses now!?!? I thought you've dropped down to four. I did 5 and I've almost lost my mind. But regardless, I'll try your tips thank you!

      I'll be taking 5 courses this term instead of 6. 5 is pretty intense Henry - good for you for taking 5!!

    My teachers don’t do learning goals. What are they ?

    • @MaddyA
      @MaddyA  3 роки тому

      Learning goals/objectives are essentially what your teacher wants you to learn and expects you to understand by the end of the school year. Its just a list of all the key concepts and ideas you are taught.

    Hello Maddy! I came across your YT channel and it’s really helpful for those who dream of going to UBC .
    I’m planning on applying at UBC for masters in Human Nutrition and wanted to know how the facility over there is like and also the work load. I’m from India with an average GPA of 9.4 out of 10 currently pursuing my masters in Foods , Nutrition and Dietetics. I was keen on doing another masters in Human nutrition because it’s in depth and it interests me.

      I searched through various corse options but are there any other that you would recommend that would add value to my existing degree. Thank you❤️

      Hi Kate! I, unfortunately, don't know all too much about the Human Nutrition program. It certainly sounds like you know what you are passionate about so let your interest guide you! Best of luck to you :)

    How many classes a week do you have?

    • @MaddyA
      @MaddyA  2 роки тому

      I was taking 6 classes during this term. Classes run 2 times (Tues/Thurs) or 3 times (Mon/Wed/Fri) per week. I can't quite remember how many I had in a week but it was enough haha
