If the counterspell player has to decide between countering something or not using their mana for that cycle, sometimes they just let it rip and your Skyshroud Claim eats a Spell Pierce.
Fun fact: even if Mana Clash deals lethal damage to one of the players, both of them have to keep going until they both get heads. The game won't check for SBAs until the spell is done. I would've laughed so hard if they both had been taken out by Mana Clash... 🤣
I understood the Mana Drain on the Sad Robot for that turn 3 Locust God, but that Arcane Denial on Extus? Either that was salt from previous games, or Martin felt like being a bully.

Generally speaking, I always play a ton of instant speed card draw in any of my decks that contain counterspells for that very reason: So I don't feel forced to counter something before my turn comes back around.
Max could've used Liquimetal Torque (One of my favorite cards to come from MH2) to turn non-artifact permanents like Rebbec into one thus saving them from interaction. I love how that deck looks. Might make one myself.

So when no one casts anything worth countering they just counter whatever the player to their right (Andrew) casts regardless of how important it is to counter it. When the game started i was for him because i love coin flip decks, but after that mana drain he become the arch enemy for me. I didn't care who would win just not him
the only reason i can think of martin targeting andrew so much is because the extus deck is able to go off if unanswered? either way it feels like martin brought a 9-power deck to a pod of 6s
If you haven't played at the new location for Wizard's Tower in Barrhaven yet you should, they have a neat little area that they bake stuff and have coffee ready :P
Fun fact: when nick sacrificed Mind Stone, Max should’ve have put +1/+1 counters on Ich-Tekik and his golems, cause Ich-Tekik triggers whenever ANY artifact is put into a graveyard, not only his artifacts 😜
Max could've saved his Ugin if he had used Liquimetal Torque to turn Ugin into an artifact... because he controls an artifact token, Rebbec gives his artifacts protection from mana value 0 as well, so Ugin would be protected against the Locust God tokens.
I have a friend with a Cosima Vehicles, Landfall, Vehicles, Big Sea Monster deck and its so surprisingly good for a deck with 4 seemingly clashing themes
Martin passes on ugin but counters your commander? Cool cool cool I don’t love to see people lock out a deck in general even if the other two people weren’t doing much scarier stuff

The Mana Drain on the Simulacrum makes perfect sense because of the Locust God. The Arcane Denial on Extus with almost no graveyard, however... yeah, it didn't make sense to me either.
You guys are also misplaying The Omenkeel trigger. Omenkeel exiles equal to the damage dealt, but it doesnt put those lands into play. It says you can "play" those lands as long as they remain exiled. So you could use those lands as your land for turn, but you dont just drop those suckers on the table. Thats not how that works.
I’m assuming, you’re talking about the instance at 10:30. What let’s Nick put all the lands exiles by the Omenkeel isn’t the omenkeel but rather the oblivion sower. Otherwise Nick has been using the omenkeel correctly.

*SPOILERS* Martin was being a butt this game. 1) Max played Ugin, and he ignored it. 2) Max played Rebbec, and he ignored it. 3) Max played Digsite Engineer, and he ignored it. Nick played pretty smart, not playing anything big while Martin had mana open, and then playing those things when he didn't. Also, I, too, like his deck. I'm not much for mono blue, but that looks like fun :)

Yes, it could have. Even if Max controlled an Aritfact Land (Mana Value 0), turning any of his permanents into an Artifact would have saved it.
