This is my only metal gear game as of now. 87 hours in, I can confidently say this is my favorite stealth game. This is the game that made me realize nonlethal was just as fun as taking everyone out.
In Ground Zeros when he goes “THEY PLAYED US LIKE A DAMN FIDDLE” 😅 i think that voice actor is the only guy in the world who could have made that line sound badass. Not to mention his infamous “why are we still here?” speech… classic…. “Every night I feel my leg” so good…
The prologue is probably the most horrifying thing ever. The soldiers literally commits warcrimes in order to kill Big Boss no matter what. Killing all innocents patients in order nobody witnessed that Big Boss got killed.
They didn’t kill them so that there were no witnesses, they killed all of them bc they knew he had plastic surgery and didn’t know what he looked like, so they just killed everyone to be sure

And this line here inspired me to write an album under the theme Phantom Pain. About lost love and how it can hunt you for a while even though your ex-partner isnt with you anymore but you still sense someone after a while, someone missing from your life.
My first MGS was MGS1 on PS 1. I bought my first game with my first console and never regreted it. I was in a nervous breakdown and it helped take my mind off my problems. I fell in love with the series. Even if the graphics were shit on PS1 it was a great game because of the music, the athmosphere and the many characters in the game. That is when you know it's a great game.
Incredible atmosphere. I'm 32, and I've realised that after all these years, it's the little things that stick with me. Hearing MGS1 sound effects (like the noise when you acquire a ration, or chaff going off, or the alert sound) and I'm right back in the game.

better than watching an actual movie. The way they made afghan look, is incredible for a game. I did a tour in OIF, but not OEF.....but, it sure looks like eastern Iraq (on iranian border area). Well done, insofar as graphical representation of the scenery.
Watching in June to 2023 and the game is still absolutely amazing. I played it years ago and got bored, but just reinstalled and played it last night. I was playing MGS3 on my PS3 for the first time ever, and was inspired to play MGS5.

58:00 Ocelot nearly lets it slip that Venom is not Naked. He says a certain man (Zero) gave him 2 jobs to do. 1 was to “get you out of that hospital” 2 was to “rescue the man himself” meaning Naked. Later in a cassette tape Venom asks Ocelot who was the bandaged man in the hospital and Ocelot straight up dodges the question and doesn’t answer him.
This game is so optimized, even on the low end pc. I'm not that rich i only have a mid range alienware gaming laptop but i purposely tested this on my ancient pc on gt-610 and core 2 duo and on low settings it gave a stable 30-40 fps without a single frame drop.
Heard better sound designs. For example the part where he shoots down the chopper you can still hear the explosion in real time when in reality it would be delayed. Bad Company 2 did that better but I understand it was scrapped from later Battlefield games as it most likely confused lots of plyers when the explosion sounds 300 meters away or further were delayed.

In this game I realize that some these memories aren't just Big Boss but the Medic his body double ( Punished Venom Snake ) that second bomb they share that pain of loss and suffering that won't go away no matter what. 3:27
Episode 43 is the most powerful heartbreaking moment of Metal Gear Solid but it also proves and shows the many hardships of leadership sometimes you have to kill your own for the safety of others

MGSVTPP was my first Metal Gear game ever so I jumped into it kinda blind and didn't know a lot about the game series' overall lore so I was terrified by this thing :D installed the game back few days ago and I think I am ready now to complete this game.

Man what an intense prologue. The developers literally nailed it! This definitely deserves an award for the most chilling intro to a game.
It was definitely intense, but I thought it was a touch too long. And I hate that you can't skip cutscenes in the beginning

That's the way this game is supposed to be played. You get a better score rating by not killing anyone. I only incapacitate or kill when needed.

I never played any Metal Gear games and I enjoy SourceSpy's walkthroughs like this. He/She is one of the most skilled gamers I've seen. Do I have to watch any other Metal Gear games prior to this one or they are sperate? Would I be lost in confusion if I watch this directly?
