Monsoon’s magnetic mode is extremely imaginative for a fighting style, I’d love to see it explored more in the future in storytelling in general, not just in metal gear.

Love this fight, it shows how Monsoon and Raiden react to their haunting memories of psychological trauma (i.e. Cambodian Killing Fields and Liberian child soldier) by trying to suppress it until it boils up to a point where they can’t hold it back anymore and instead embrace all the pain at once to fuel them until their eventual sweet release of death, thus transforming the rational Raidan into his primal Jack [the Ripper]. Monsoon handles it in a more rational way by still partially repressing or “understanding” it, but maybe that was a mistake since he gets bodied by Jack. Stains of Time lyrics embody this too
I agree. Monsoon's line about Phnom Pehn is something I wanted expanding upon. Revengeance is a lot deeper than it appears what will all the philosophical talk. I wanted to know what everyone's damage was
@@nillynush4899 well you gotta remember that The Cambodian killing field was during the height of the Cold War and Vietnam war so it talks a lot about killing but particularly the genocide of the people
There's also the detail that, in spite of all of that, the E.M. grenades tend to work quite well against Monsoon, thus meaning, on a meta level, yes, you can just hack and slash as Jack, or you can stop, think for a second, and then start destroying Monsoon with those grenades.

This game deserves an anime for this mission alone. The heartbreaking moment that Sam breaks Raiden by making him hear the pain of the cyborgs he kills, the denial, Monsoon's intervention, Raiden's acceptance and turn to insanity, the music kicking into the boss fight, etc. What a masterpiece!

The "Jack the Ripper" introduction doesn't hit as it should be, because of how much I had to reset the level to beat him, Monsoon is a cruel parent, but an effective teacher in parrying.

The only problem tho is zandatsu, because with wasd key you can’t aim properly. But when i’ll finish the game and unlock the blue wig, i’ll solve this problem.

Definitely my favourite fight in the game! It's so fast-paced, the mechanics are really cool, it's so goddamn fun and most of all, the song is so good. Stains of Time has been in my playlist for years now, and still every time I hear it I get hyped. When Monsoon hit 40% is when metal gear rising won me over
A bit late for a tips, but you can parry that giant wheel of debris twice and you can zandatsu it right after.

I was forced to learn how to play the game early on since I naively wanted to start with the dlc first after learning they were prequels… Horrible idea >_>
I still think Sam was harder, but damn if the second statement isn't true. After beating Monsoon it felt as if I had unlocked ultra instinct in the later chapters.

He might not be wrong either. Meme has two meanings. One is the "pictures/videos/texts" or what have you, that get passed around on the internet. And another is an element of a culture or system of behaviour passed from one individual to another by imitation or other non-genetic means. Even better, some memes might also be MEMES, as in the kind of memes, that it looks like, Monsoon is talking about. Where they pass on some kind of element of culture or behaviour to others. Actually, memes can be that kind of meme as well, as a whole, if you think about it. Internet culture, and behaviour gets passed down to the next person that starts making/enjoying them, even if the meme its self isn't passing on what ever culture or behaviour that one might see in it specifically.
I loved the Monsoon fight, it wasn't very tricky, it did not overstay it's welcome and it wasn't too short. It really felt like you are in a battle against an opponent that was close to your equal.

i love this game because you can interpret it in any way you want. you can view it as social commentary, satire, or just an action game. it’s aged like fine wine and still fits in todays society, the animation and graphics are still sick as fuck (except for the hair), and the combat is still amazing. it’s so fucking cool and such a good idea for a game. hate this boss fight tho, took me forever to get past the magnet phase.
honestly, for PS3 graphics the hair isn’t that bad, it’s age definitely gives it a pass; it reminds me of low-budget modern indie games that don’t have the time to create unique physics engines for everyone’s hairstyles

Parry both his legs until the parts scatter, as well as his torso. He'll be exposed and you can use blade mode to get him out of his magnetic mode

@Oscarus4250 - Oscar Samson canonically he should be stronger than sundowner, tbh sundowner wasn't very strong other than his shields he hides behind, monsoon can throw tanks and fly and dodge really quickly and we see his daggers are electrified which implies he can generate electricity which makes sense if he can control electromagnetism, he is in my view way stronger than sundowner and other than sundowner being the boss after monsoon if you exclude body doubles I don't know why he would be canonically stronger
@@dublindom3720 Raiden, who is such a cyborg that thanks to nanomachines there's only a few chunks of skull and brain matter left of his original body, still needed the Zandatsu capability to cut Sundowner's shields apart. I imagine it would be close to impossible for normal people to pull off the same.
@georgesmaga1520 yeah but he isn't insanely fast and could be killed pretty easily by a tank round or something and just because he has defense doesn't mean he is necessarily stronger overall
You can use mods to spawn him in other places than his actual bossfight (where you always have ripoer mode) and he is extremely tanky, even tankier than armstrong i believe.
