Haven't played Metal Gear games before or just want to experience this epic saga again? Then this video might be for you. Note that this video contain only Hideo Kojima's Metal Gear games that are what constitute a single Metal Gear Saga.
Metal Gear (Japanese: メタルギア) is a series of action-adventure stealth video games, created by Hideo Kojima and developed and published by Konami. The first game, Metal Gear, was released in 1987 for the MSX2 home computer architecture. The player takes control of a special forces operative (usually Solid Snake or his father, Big Boss) who is assigned to find the titular superweapon "Metal Gear", a bipedal walking tank with the ability to launch nuclear weapons. Several sequels have been released for multiple consoles after requests from Konami to produce new Metal Gear games. The sequels expand the original game's plot adding new characters opposing and supporting Snake, while there have also been a few prequels exploring the origins of the Metal Gear and recurring characters. Various parts were inspired by Hollywood films with character's names, settings and artworks often referencing them.

A Legendary Saga. I was about 8-9 years old when I beat MGS1 on the PS1 for the first time. I am now 26 and I finished MGSV last year. I basically grew up with this game, I beat every title multiple times on the different difficulty modes and different tactics unlocking the stealth suit, bandana, wig, costumes, masks, and etc. I loved this game and franchise. I'm going to miss Solid Snake and Big Boss. The future games wont be the same.

This kicks ass. The way you edited every scene by seamlessly adding the gameplay features and dialogue in them, helped make all these games as close to a proper movie as it can be. I can no longer play all the games, so this helps a lot.

mmm...idk there were a lot of advanced things in MGS4 though really (the Solid Eye, Metal Gears being everywhere, Huey's little Metal Gear following Snake around with optic camo, the Beauty and the Beast squad and their tech, the Guns of the Patriots application that Ocelot uses and more). But I think one explanation could be, because things are being controlled heavily by the Patriots, where as Big Boss lived outside of the Patriots grasp and controlled his own crew and technology on the fringe, not to mention Huey is a genius

Reason 1: For me maximum video length is 12 hours so there is no time left for PO. Reason 2: I included only games that Hideo Kojima produced and directed. Also Kojima himself said that Metal Gear, Metal Gear 2, MGS1, MGS2, MGS3, MGS4, Peace Walker and now MGS5 are what constitute a single Metal Gear Saga.

I never understood Portable Ops significance in the Metal Gear saga, it was cool to play as Big Boss when he's not too old (he's 35 in PO) as he's almost 40 in PW but still, I played about half or two-thirds of PO and did not get the significance at all, and extracting people was a pain in the ass too.
MPO is like a filler, I love the MPO+ Tower Climb game.
MG P.ops is the first time snake has to recruit people, and that Gen, (the bad guy of the story) is the first one that wants to build a nation of soldiers, an outer heaven, recruiting ingeniers, doctors, etc.
AfroJeffrey Revengeance & Ac!d just get tossed aside too I guess. apart from ghost Babel being the one in the alternate timeline.

Peace Walker is so grossly underrated.
The sacrifices that everyone makes for peace, the way everyone strives to it. And the heartbreaking explanation of the Boss giving up her life in order to preserve peace in the world.
I can never pick a favorite from these games, they’re all too good, but Peace Walker definitely holds that spot often

I can't believe this Masterpiece exists. Nearly 20 years ago I played Metal Gear Solid, as a kid. How this story turned out and how everything went before that game, crazy. Many plot twists. It is such a complex story but yet so intense and interesting. Thanks for that long ass video! I have played nearly all games except for these PSP games or whatever they were. Still this video is quite better than many movies :)

HYPERTiZ Obviously it's not ideal to experience the entire saga this way. One should use this as a supplement or a way to revisit or an introduction to the series. Of course stuff is going to be cut.

God, I love Young Ocelot... When you understand him, you can totally understand how he pulled off what he did in MGS4. Only the son of The Boss and The Sorrow, could have done it. Not even Big Boss or his three clones could do it.

0th Level: A person that knows absolutely nothing that is going on.
-This type will almost certainly get upgraded to level 1 if they are a part of the plot.
Example: Johnny (MGS1-MGS4)
1st Level: A person that knows the very basics of what is going on.
-Will almost certainly be the Player Character.
-Will slowly get upgraded to level 2, then level 3 characters as the plot goes on.
-Is almost certainly wrong at the start.
Example: Snake (Any Title)
2nd Level: A person who know partial or half-truths.
-Consist of mainly allied side characters and bosses who aren’t the final boss.
-Can know as much as a level 3 character, but can’t tell as much or more info as a level 3 character.
-One enemy level 2 character is most certainly a level 4 character.
-A level 2 character can be disguised as a level 3 character if he, himself thinks he knows the full truth.
Examples:
Corneal Cambell (MGS1)
Fortune (MGS2)
3rd Level: A person who knows the truth.
-He will most certainly be the final boss.
-Can never be a level 4 character.
Examples:
Liquid (MGS1)
Volga (MGS3)
4th Level: The puppet master that knows the REAL truth.
-Knows everything.
-Is most certainly the reason that everything is happening.
-Is never disguised as level 3 character.
-Is never revealed until the very last moment.

This gives the final battle between Solid Snake and Ocelot so much more literary weight now. We've seen Ocelot throughout all of this become devoted to a man's ideals to the point he'd die for them... and that's exactly what he did.
It’s truly commendable how you took the time to show clips of the boss battles, of you getting hurt and doing damage to enemies, showing mistakes and successes, it shows your dedication to detail and is very useful to give context and immersion to cutscenes. Thank you
After 5 years watching the openning scene still make me wanna cry, Kojima is great and his MG series is magnificent. I doubt if i'd meet another game with a huge realistic back ground world, fantastic music and professional camera movement. It's just like Starwars and Marvel to me. Thanks for making this.

18 years ago when I was 15 I discovered metal gear solid. Me and my friends would play every morning during our 6 week holidays. This game will always have a place in my heart.

The thing about metal gear that scares me is the fact that certain plot points and ideas are possible and the amount of destruction they would create is petrifying
Well made. Gameplay fitted the movie experience. Had to stop think after MGS5: TPP - Diamond Dogs are now FOXHOUND. But I see now how that looks from Solid Snake point of view. Years since I was catched up with the lore. And thank you Kojima for this story.

I just burned through this in one sitting, and I have to say- great stuff, friend. I bet this was a lot of work. It was pretty funny how it cuts to the 8 bit MGS games and then resumes the (relatively) modern CGI. I knew that was coming, but the transition was still hilarious. Nonetheless you made it work, and you just saved me a several-day playthrough I didn't want to go through again. :D Thanks for this.

This story is a series that hits you in the heart but also have you on the edge of your seat. You can’t be a gamer and never played any of the metal gears, all my OG. players know this game is a piece of us we will never get another series like this ever.

They should release a metal gear collection or something with every one of them (except metal gear survive). Of course they should remaster them too and not just copy them all down to one disc and release it.
They did. It's on the PS3 I am playing it now and finally played and beat MG, MG2:SS, MGS,MGS2. It also has MGS3, MGS4 and Peace Walker. I am on Snake eater and working my way to 4 game by game. I think it's called the Legacy collection
