It is the most adequate tut for camera follow path animation. 2 things resolved my issue with this technique thanks to your tutorial: 1. Increasing curve path resolution up to 64 and 2) applying all transform for the camera. Thanks a lot for details!
This video was a lifesaver. I added a single path going up (z position increasing) at the end and got the camera to rise as it follow the circular path around the center object. If the camera follows the center object and the center object moves (with another follow path constraint) then the camera goes with it 😜 very useful even if making a circular path is kinda difficult for me atm
I can not figure this out 😢 Mannn i did everthing the camera follows the path perfectly, i insert the keyframes, i move the camera, insert another keyframe with the new position but it just does not follow when i play it back. Please help me out i've been stuck on this for 3 weeks already. great tutorial but it just does not seem to work for me
Double check to make sure the keyframes are set and have different values, often when I'm in a hurry, I forget to set the keyframe after moving the object to the new position
It can be really challenging - I managed to make this work but I had to do some things differently. I’m just starting out with blender too so it’s a bit overwhelming. The path acts as a “track” to guide the object but you still have to place the start and end frames on the timeline. Add the path, select the object to move on that path and apply the constraint “follow path”. Configure the follow path constraint to use that path (it should be named something unique like “main-camera-path”). Then! 😑 then move the timeline playhead (the blue line thing that shows you what frame your on) and select the start frame (like frame 0). Then on the constraint select the values for the starting position (depending on the path you will need to play with these values to find one that looks right). With the starting position good then you click that button to the right of the field to apply the animation to the timeline. It’s easy to miss because it’s like a tiny dot or diamond shape next to the fields on the constraint tab. This step applies the Start keyframe. Then!! 😣 then, select the End frame and again find a good Ending value for the animation (where you want the object to stop at). Apply the end keyframe animation the same way you didn’t for the start position. Now lastly with that in place you should be able to preview the animation as it should render. Then make sure to set your render settings (the panel that looks like a printer) And if you want a video select FFmpeg. Make sure to change the encoder settings below that because it defaults to matroska video format. Most people will want to use mp4 with h264. Hope this helps!
@@WhatMakeArt Thanks for the reply. I figured it out later. The problem was my camera object had some location info in it. And when I was adding the camera using shift+s -> Selection to cursor, that location info was being added too. And hence the distance. The solution was to presse alt+G when my camera was selected. It reset all location information. And then the rest worked well.
please i created backrooms but I don't know how to make my camera move like walking+ i tried the iPhone app called Camtrackar and I didn't like please what's the easiest way
right from the start of the video, when i try to move around the camera and see how it looks like on the left side, it moves the entire asset/scene instead of the the camera only. idk how to fix this since i tried to clear parent incase yet it still does this.
Make sure you've applied transformations or have your origins in the right spot, usually best to try in a new file to try to eliminate possible variables
can you show how to export this camera move out? I have a camera move along a path also using a target to track my hero object, but i cant seem to bake the animation out whilst keeping both the path and target info animation intact ? all im getting in the bake is the transforms associated to with the targets key frames, losing all of the path animation any ideas would be great? thanks
I have a pipe, water is flowing inside. I want to show the pipe for 2 seconds and after that I want to show the water by making the pipe half transparent. Camera will also focus on the water path. How do I make this???
I did exactly what was said in the video but my camera is not following the path when the video is played (haven’t added a key frame yet) how come it will not follow the path despite having a constraint ?
@@WhatMakeArt OMG I FIGURED IT OUT!! i had to make the camera XYZ locations all to 0 and then the offset started working perfectly! lol rookie mistake but i solved it alone:)

You're saying the camera follows the path as it should if you scrub the timeline, but it doesn't if you press play?
Double check to make sure the keyframes are set and have different values, often when I'm in a hurry, I forget to set the keyframe after moving the object to the new position

When I select the camera and shft+s -> Selection to cursor then my camera jumped very far away from the path. I am using blender 4.0. Any idea?

Great video. How can you make the camera follow the path in the opposite direction?
To make the camera go in the other direction, reverse the key frame values
@@WhatMakeArt what about if you’re using the animate path function and not keyframes?
To reverse the direction you need to keyframe the valuation time and make it start with negative one and then go to zero instead of from 1 to 0
