75 year old rebel here. Doc pushed statins at me 12 years ago. Doc fought my wishes and I caved. July 2022 I went down a rabbit hole and learned about intermittent fasting and LCHF eating. Tossed the statin. Within a month tossed my Lisinopril for BP I had been on for 20 years. Blood pressure now runs slightly below normal with no meds. Lost 14 lbs in 9 weeks. I have four pounds to go to hit my goal of 125. The pharmaceutical companies are in bed with our governments. It’s all about lining each other’s pockets. Wake up people.
Sir, you’ve earned my respect and my sub! I work in the Medicare pharmacy world for over 13 years, and every single thing you said is true! Thank you for taking a stand. CMS is political where they shouldn’t be.
You nailed it doc, changing their theory from lipid heart to carb/insulin model of obesity metabolic syndrome. We need more doc's like you that aren't sellouts, protecting their paychecks. I wish i could find one! Hold the line doc!
I absolutely feel your frustration! I, as a doctor, with professional and personal experience, have been chastised for prescribing keto diet to patients. I have actually left that space because of the hierarchy and patriarchy that removes my clinical insight and my patients' autonomy! Having practiced in South Africa myself I know that it's easier there because if you have the money you can pretty much do as you please but there's the rub; ozempic can cost anywhere from 1/3 of a families income! I had amazing results with my patient's there. Fortunately, in Ireland, it is available but requires consultant prescription - I'm slowly winning that battle with evidence. We persist for the truth! Thank you for being an unwitting mentor to this humble family physician Dr Cywes.
I have had a A1C of 5.6 for 12 years. Have been on carnivore for 6 months. I am now pre-diabetes with A1C of 5.7. I know it is because my red blood cells are living longer and as a result has raised my A1C by .1. I have been on a low carb diet for 6 years and have been fighting hunger throughout this time. I ran to my endocrinologist and insisted treatment for pre-diabetes. She prescribed a GLP-1 med. Of course I am staying on carnivore. Four weeks after starting I am hunger free. The initial dose provided a weight loss of four pounds the first four weeks. I am very encouraged and am exercising as well. I am 73 years old. I must say that diet sometimes is not enough. Not for this person. Thank you for discussing these options. No one in this venue talks about the group that can’t get their A1C down. Btw, all my other labs attest to my staying faithful to low or no carb diets. Thank you sooooo much Doctor!!!!
I’m no medical professional, but I’ve done my share of research. I appreciate your passion regarding this medication and that it can benefit people who are overweight. The insurance industry is not healthcare at all and should not be, in any way, associated with that name. It’s purely profit driven. That said, thanks for your thorough explanation and your passion. I will continue to follow your videos.
Ahhh, this must be why my endocrinologist always notes on my chart that I'm non-compliant on the statin issue. Since I'm type 1 diabetic, she's salivating to put me on as many drugs as she can. BTW, my lipid panel is low-normal and always has been.
Yeah, the healthcare standards in this country piss me off too. It needs to change. We need preventative care, not sick care. Yet so many folks just want a pill to fix the problem, which does not help what drug companies want to perpetuate. You are an excellent doctor, and you know you are doing the right thing for your patients. Medicare needs to be spanked, as does VA Healthcare where I get mine, and Humana/Tricare. They all SUCK. No wonder so many people turn to Complimentary Alternative remedies, spending more money than they should and being scammed. What a vicious cycle! I am grateful for your channel, and your courage to speak the truth.
I am a type 2 on medicare. Took myself off statins when my A1c hit 5.8 (5.6 now). I provided the Dr a copy of the Diamond, et. al. paper from JAMA, March 2022. Now they use the ASCVD model because since I am a Type 2, I automatically need statins. I am Ketovore for 109 days. Cholesterol is 217, LDL 156, Triglycerides 113, VLDL 20, HDL 41 (and going up). I will have to read more on GLP1.
I love your boldness. I have taken charge of my life and no longer take my Dr word. Work as a team. No more God syndrome for me. Thank you for all the info
Thank you for this information. It makes me feel better about Mounjaro. My blood glucose is in good control but my hyperinsulinemia is being stubborn even with very low carb so my endocrinologist and I agreed to give this a try to keep me progressing. I do have a CGM to monitor. My A1C used to be 10.5 and latest was 5.0.
I wish there was more info on GLP1 and hyperinsulinemia. I was just diagnosed and it doesn't really make sense to me. I go on keto and even carnivore and lose a few lbs off the bat and then hit a wall and lose nothing for MONTHS. When my hair starts falling out in clumps is when I quit, I believe in the science of keto or carnivore but it doesn't work for me past 2-3 weeks and a small loss. I guess the hair loss starts to terrify me before I can become completely fat adapted? I'm hoping a GLP1 will help.
I started Mounjaro 3 months ago...as a Diabetic my HbA1c has dropped from 8 to 4.8...89kgs down to 78....I have had no side effects.....I was on Ozempic...I had massive side effects nausea vomitting and diarrhoea....am so 😁
Dropping A1C nonesense because hiperinsulinemia more dangerous .. GLP 1 agonist increases insulin that means lowering BG and A1C but more insulin resistance
They sent you a letter of spankage. I love your way with words! Lol. But seriously, it's DISGUSTING how these drug and insurance companies run these doctors. Thank you for all you do, sir. My husband was in Metformin, Jardience, for T2, also Lisinipril and a statin. He went low carb, meat heavy keto, and now is OFF all meds except his blood pressure meds. I told him to stop taking statins after hearing the way they hurt people. He has had arm pain for a couple years now that has lessened. We are taking control without so many meds. If only people would educate themselves and empower themselves! I've lost 150 pounds on keto/ carnivore and he's lost 40 pounds.
Keep up the great work! My husband's primary insisted upon him taking a Statin because of family history but his problem was he had to get back off of it because it was raising his blood pressure😵💫😒
You are the best! Your passion is palpable! You keep me motivated, and your reassurance is calming in this crazy space. Don't let them grind you down....💪🏻
Great info on GLP-1!!!!! Went off my statin after your statin lecture and glowing even lower on carb intake after two years of keto. I still consume alcohol and have yet to give that up.
So much for “Do no harm” right Doc. I’ve fired 3 cardiologists over statins. My wife and I live a carnivore lifestyle my A1c is 5.6, hdl is 50, ldl is 98 and triglycerides are 56. BP averages 117/72 and blood sugar averages 92. My wife’s number are very close to mine.
Thank you for not following their guidelines. I am a medical coder for 25 years now and it saddens me how most patients don't get healed due to lack of knowledge. I don't want to work in this field anymore. I don't believe in it anymore. Thank you for spreading this info. My hospital is finally prescribing these meds for obesity alone. Let's hope more follow. I found you by searching if I could keep doing keto w a glp-1 med without risk of hypoglycemia or DKA. I've had gastric sleeve but only lost 50 lbs. Have PCOS and hypothyroid that Drs dont treat. Its a big mess but hoping I can start this med soon and see some more progress.
As a Medicare patient, thank you. We know it’s not you..and thanks for keeping us, even when Medicaid or Medicaid makes it impossible..I left you a comment below, and I absolutely LOVED this. Subbed and liked!! ❤❤❤
I agree 100% finally starting wegovy. My heart doctor has double my statin and then added another for my Cholesterol. But when I asked him about would not even entertain the thought, but like to point out I’m obese. What the hell. So now I have an online doctor and my insurance has approved it. So he loses either way. The crap and hoops you have to jump is crazy. I totally enjoyed this video. It has so many other benefits along with weight loss. Heart disease runs in my family on both sides. They say it reduces the chance of a heart attack by 20%! So tell me who would not want that. Good god, please people really need to stop. Money hungry people. Give everyone the same chance to at least try it.
Love this! You are doing a great public service by getting this information out there and helping people LEARN! Thank you, thank you, Dr C! Keep it up! 😊👍
Whoo boy, is this 2022? I guess priorities have just changed, it's just all about the money these days. Please continue with these videos; it is so important for people like you to make people like me, and others, aware of what is happening in this corrupt medical, food and pharma world that we live in.
I was taking a statin for years. I started experiencing muscle pain and low energy. I took myself off the statin which my primary care doctor did not agree. The pain and energy deficit went away in a matter of weeks.
My thought has been, if they want to prescribe something to me that I don't want, (and they pay for it, I don't), I don't have to take it, and I don't have to tell them. They can feel better about themselves and I can feel just fine. Luckily my provider doesn't push meds on me, he recommends but leaves the decision to me.
I was badgered into taking statins for many years. I now suffer from nightly leg cramps that are impossible to get rid of. My labs look fine as far as electrolytes are concerned, so the only thing I can think of is long term use of statins! My current practioner has mentioned statin therapy, but does not force it on me. My CAC score was ZERO, which blew her out of the water!
I saw a Tik Tok today with a cardiologist doing one of those “ 5 things I would never do as a Cardiologist “… he literally said Statins were one of the most AMAZING medications in the world and he would never NOT take them and to honor your cholesterol enough to take them …… I was beyond blown 😳.. mainly because people were commenting thanking him over and over !
LOL, you are absolutely correct however, there are a group of people who exist who have normal or should I say in range numbers who are opting in to take statins to get ahead of said cholesterol/ heart issues to strive for optimal long-term health especially if this issue runs hereditarily so there are groups that's not working backwards but forwards! and they're committed to being on one long-term to avoid said related issues? something to think about..
My cardiologist said he did not know one cardio doc not taking them. I stopped with my primary care doc this week! Before I saw this video. Just reinforces what I knew from other research. Hate what our medical system has done to people all for the $$
Thank you so much, today i went to see my doctor because she proscribed statin for me, i took it for just one week I was feeling like a dead man. Thanks to your video I'm going to stop it completely
I totally understand your anger and frustration Dr Cywes. I am also happy to hear that you are forward thinking and endorse the use of Semaglutide for the treatment of pre diabetes as a prevention for the chronic disease that is T2 diabetes. My own story encapsulates the madness that is modern health care across the world. 12 months ago I was prescribed Ozempic for pre diabetes and to help control other metabolic issues such as morbid obesity, PCOS, Infertility, HBP and high CVR. I was told that because I don't have T2 diabetes the pharmacist wouldn't fill the script because it was in short supply and only for diagnosed diabetics. ( I was having to buy it off-script -expensive and I think the pharmacist thought I must have been wanting it for weight loss purposes.) 12 months later my recent blood test revealed my sugars were higher than last time and I was inching even closer to T2 diabetes. My doctor again prescribed Ozempic. In frustration I told my doctor that my pharmacist wouldn't supply it to me as I am 'ONLY' pre-diabetic, obese, have HBP and high CVR but am NOT diagnosed diabetic. I was so angry with my pharmacist. To me it seemed myopic to not want to treat a disease that has been identified early and that there is a treatment known to assist healing. It's like diagnosing a person with a primary cancer but waiting for it to become secondary before treating it! This anger encouraged me to research ways to reduce insulin resistance naturally through diet. (I had like many others have followed the healthy eating guidelines year in year out since childhood having no idea that following them was actually eroding my health) I am now doing LCHF and have already seen small but positive changes in my weight, Blood Pressure and BGL. I have once again started on Ozempic in the hope that I can keep having my scripts filled until my health returns and I have cut back on medications. I pray that my future has good health and no diagnosis of T2 diabetes. Keep fighting the good fight Dr Cywes. We need more doctors like you speaking the truth and advocating for people's health. Many Thanks Ruby- Melbourne, Australia.
After my hospital ICU stay (I posted my experience in your warnings on SGLT2'S upload, it was horrible, Im glad I survived!) for EuDKA, they released me and said, "No Jardiance, no insulin, no glimiparide, no Metformin, DO KETO!" BUT they still want me to take the GLP-1 and gave me a prescription for Trulicity. I've been on it for maybe 10 years already. I've experienced the SICKNESS (vomiting, nausea, feeling like crap) and I'm not too crazy about getting that sick again. Anyways, my 2 week blood glucose average is 169 mg/dl, and it's getting better everyday! I think I'm going to be non-compliant and NOT take the glp-1. Thank you for these videos! Thank you for saving lives!
I have PCOS and started Wegovy and have lost over 20lbs and brought my BMI down from 30 to 25! I don't know why even low carb I kept hitting a wall, added this and it was like magic!
Thx for this video, I’m type 2 diabetes that hadn’t taken Statin for one year and the last blood work, my Dr told me that my Cholesterol is high and I started taking it often and I’ve read about the side effects of it and aware.I also did read about the glp-1 and looking forward to seeing my Dr and will let u know 😊 much appreciated 🙏🙏
51 year old T2D, lost 90lbs on Mounjaro. I have been refusing statins for years. I believe so much in the benefits of GLP-1 agonists that I have pivoted my life coaching practice to support those on that journey. There are so many folks that are given these meds with no guidance on nutrition, hydration, side effect mitigation, mindset, and dysmorphia. I am with you on this rant, Doc. The hubris of these insurance bureaucrats to tell/limit doctors on how to care for their patients is appalling. Let’s be completely honest. The care of the obese is patronizing and pandering. 99% of the time, they are not given the tools and guidance for lasting change. They are given their surgery or their meds and basically left to navigate the rest on their own. It is a scary situation given how much egregiously incorrect information is spouted so loudly by the Jillian Michaels of the world.
So happy for you! And yes as a Medicaid patient, this is all true😢 I had a hard time just getting my Epclusa for cirrhosis of liver.. I was always fighting with the pharmacy..I don’t blame the docs..I’m just grateful they’re putting up with medicares BULL 💩 !!
My wife was on Ozempic and ran into the supply issue. She is also a massive carb addict with no desire to give them up. I'm hoping that someday she will see what she is doing doesn't work. Over the last year her medications have increase, diabetes got worse but is a bit lighter. I lost 85 pounds, dropped most meds, and reversed by diabetes. She is always talking about how tired she is. To make matters worse, she is a registered dietician that believes the garbage she was taught in school.
Great information doc. Big pharma lobbies for their drugs. It's that simple. My 83 year old mother was put on statins, new prescription. She had a minor reaction. I told her not to take them. She listened to me and doesn't take them. Now I understand why they may have been prescribed. Thank you!!
Fantastic video. My doctor suggested a Statin. My reply was that’s like putting a plaster on a cut I don’t have! And don’t get me started on the short supply of Rybelsus that I no longer have access to as a type 2 diabetic. The only drug that has helped me. I’m now going solo on a ketogenic diet without the drugs I need 😡
Thank you Dr Cywes for your honesty and the truth keep up the good work and for one l'll be telling as many people as l can about this and your site on youtube
Same issue in Australia. My doctor is at least very happy to prescribe be Ozempic for weight loss but the Pharmacist doesn't even have enough stock for the diabetics, who rightly get first dibs. Thankfully our drug body just authorized Wegovy, but no supply yet. Hopefully next year, fingers crossed.
🙏 Amen 2.5 mg blood sugar dropped 100 point now in a normal range Zero allergic reaction zero preservatives in Mounjaro CGM and Mounjaro saving my life❤🙏❤️
Great video..I just started ozempic. I just started 0.5mg dose and am down 11lbs. I'm 271. My blood sugars are great and I'm trying like hell to eat lower carb and make life changes to make this work..
I have been able to get trulicity for the last 4 months. This has been so good. The nausea was pretty intense for the first couple of months. I have lost 60lb over the last 20 months. Nearly all of my weight loss was due to a super low carb diet but the trulicity has made is possible to not put weight back on. I still follow a mostly carb free diet.
Great word. Not easy..just like you said, you gotta let it go. I hope someone gets your content over to the deceived chief adherence office who wrote you. You know what's sad and probable? These morons will raid your office because you're not in compliance with their 'ways'. Keeping you and yours in prayer. 🙏🏼
I was on mounjaro for 1 year due to my extreme feelings of tiredness and fatigue. It worked absolutely wonders, I never felt as healthy as I did when I was on it. Insurance denied it since I didn’t have diabetes and only insulin resistance. I feel miserable again now, trying to find a solution here in UA-cam when I had already had the solution but horrible insurance companies don’t want us to be be well 😢😢
I have been on Mounjaro for a month. It has definitely helped with cravings. I also get full very quickly and stay full. I am still doing keto. My insurance denied it so I am using the 25 dollar coupon card.
When I was my sickest with diabetes in 2015 my cholesterol was low across the board except for trigs which were high but I was eating carbs back then. I can't understand how they would want to put anyone who is diabetic on a statin just because they are diabetic.
I’m on Saxenda for 4 weeks now. I am insulin resistance and was addicted to carbs, overweight for years. This medicine really works, I don’t eat carbs anymore ( except berries, an apple or orange sometimes), lost around 10 kg so far. I live in Dubai and the cost for one month supply is in $ around 460. My insurance is paying me back 30%. I’m so tankful on this medicine an my new doctor who put me on it. I’m also taking statins, not sure how to stop using them. I will but first I need to lose weight and get my insulin problems under control.
I have severe RT ankle pain x 8 years which was greatly improved with oral semaglutide purchased online without a prescription (a dry, 5 mg/vial powder with neither reconstitution nor dosage instructions). My numerous physicians have turned a deaf ear to my pleas for a brief trial of prescription semaglutide (Rybelsus, Ozempic, Wegovy) which is available with small copays for me. I qualify for it as T2Diabetic w/Coronary Artery Diseade (NSTEMI, 3 vessel CABG) intolerant to metformin and cannot take Jardiance.
Similar attitude here in my neck of the woods, as we age we apparently suffer a deficiency of statins. Hopefully we can refuse the treatment and the prescribing doctor is not harmed when the records are properly documented.
What I can tell you about Statin is that my father (non-diabetic) went on them, and once he started, he was always knocked out and tired. He would sleep 12-16 hours a day, had no energy to go out walking, etc.
This boils my blood! Need to take a breath! My doc also insists on TAKING STATINS! I quietly said, "NO." What can we do?? Honestly, it's cRAZY tImEs! RIGht? 🤨♥️
I feel your frustration because I share it. I have been Doctor hopping hoping to find a Doctor who will at least listen with an open mind about the very things you talked about in this video and only get cut off and dismissed. I am very low income but have had to resort to ordering my own Fasting Insulin levels and advanced lipids showing particle size at a private lab at my personal cost. The doctors I have experienced don't seem to know anything about the HDL/Triglyceride ratio significance and are not familiar with the hyper responder presentation. They are not capable of helping me manage my metabolic health so I'm on my own and BTW I am one of the individuals who have accessed the "black market" Semaglutide and am getting great appetite control with a micro dose of 2 units SQ twice weekly. I keep my carbs below 100gm daily and do resistance training 3 times a week and Pickleball 2-3 times a week as well as walking and bicycle riding. I have lost 90# on my own with nothing from "Modern Medicine" except resistance. Please know I am supporting you by rejecting the status quo. BTW I am 69 years old.

“Letter of spankage” I think that’s my favourite term of the week. Great video.
This world is truly f***ed up. Love your videos, please keep up your great work. You are one of the few doctors that really care!
thanks for the affirmarion
My fasting Insulin was 103. 3 months after Zepbound down to 50. This stuff works!

Glad yo hear a Doctor that talks about keto and Glp-1 medication. Thanks for giving non bias information.
I am about to start. Have to pay out of pocket for the meds because insurance won't help me until I have full blown diabetes. Despicable.
Lots of respect.

your A1C is high
I love the word (if)!
Your videos are wonderful. Thank you so much for not beating around the bush and for not allowing people to silence you.
Oh hell yeah, love this rant. Preach brother.
Keep us posted.
I had my doc stop prescribing a statin. I go on Medicare next year. If my doc has to prescribe it again. It doesn’t mean I have to swallow it.
Absolutely correct! 💕
@@wilmafoster6754 with CAC score of zero absolutely no reason to have a statin
I'm so glad I watched this video. GlP-1 is the best medication that I've ever taken.
Thank you for caring!!
Sir, thank you for explaining GLP1...I feel for you man...Fight the power!
I loves me some righteous indignation!
God bless you, Dr. Cywes.
Love your passion and keep going.
Follow the money.
Hate what our medical system has done to people all for the $$
Brilliant; thanks for all your knowledgeable insights.
Thank you so much it is encouraging listening to you.
Your content is helping me understand and continue to fix be diabetic
You are absolutely right. I wish more doctors gave a crap or kept current on their skills.
Thank you so much, today i went to see my doctor because she proscribed statin for me, i took it for just one week I was feeling like a dead man.
Thanks to your video I'm going to stop it completely
Thank you for sharing this. It is very important.
Please keep fighting for us Dr. Cywes. We have to change the system.
( I was having to buy it off-script -expensive and I think the pharmacist thought I must have been wanting it for weight loss purposes.)
12 months later my recent blood test revealed my sugars were higher than last time and I was inching even closer to T2 diabetes.
Many Thanks
Ruby- Melbourne, Australia.
Oh ya, and I am "non-compliant" because I too refused the stations. I've tried a few and ALWAYS end up in pain, terrible muscle aches. No thank you!
Dr. Rob knows what is going on! Please listen to him folks!
I love the rants, Doc. Keem 'em coming.
I have PCOS and started Wegovy and have lost over 20lbs and brought my BMI down from 30 to 25! I don't know why even low carb I kept hitting a wall, added this and it was like magic!
Thank you!
Going to get my diabetic sister to watch this.
Brainwashing is VERY hard to undo
Thank you for speaking truth to power!!
Thanks, love your videos.
Thank you for the update, it was very helpful.
Amazing content
Just ordered GLP-1.
You have Saxenda, too.
🙏 Amen
2.5 mg blood sugar dropped 100 point now in a normal range
Zero allergic reaction zero preservatives in Mounjaro
CGM and Mounjaro saving my life❤🙏❤️
my favorite
Great video..I just started ozempic. I just started 0.5mg dose and am down 11lbs. I'm 271. My blood sugars are great and I'm trying like hell to eat lower carb and make life changes to make this work..
Dr. Cywess, Medicare would not pay for my positive PCR test! I have cerebral palsy and two months out at times I am awaken up with pain down my spine.
I want you to take care of my family health!
Thank you for your information and your honesty
Thank you very much for this information
Great word. Not easy..just like you said, you gotta let it go. I hope someone gets your content over to the deceived chief adherence office who wrote you. You know what's sad and probable? These morons will raid your office because you're not in compliance with their 'ways'. Keeping you and yours in prayer. 🙏🏼
Deceived, or complicit?
@@Jack-hy1zq good point
I was on mounjaro for 1 year due to my extreme feelings of tiredness and fatigue. It worked absolutely wonders, I never felt as healthy as I did when I was on it. Insurance denied it since I didn’t have diabetes and only insulin resistance. I feel miserable again now, trying to find a solution here in UA-cam when I had already had the solution but horrible insurance companies don’t want us to be be well 😢😢
I have been on Mounjaro for a month. It has definitely helped with cravings. I also get full very quickly and stay full. I am still doing keto. My insurance denied it so I am using the 25 dollar coupon card.
perfect
You are so lucky that you got the $25 coupon. I have to pay $500 a month if I want to be on it.
Thank God for you!
Thank you for this video
Similar attitude here in my neck of the woods, as we age we apparently suffer a deficiency of statins. Hopefully we can refuse the treatment and the prescribing doctor is not harmed when the records are properly documented.
Great information
thank you for more great information
What I can tell you about Statin is that my father (non-diabetic) went on them, and once he started, he was always knocked out and tired. He would sleep 12-16 hours a day, had no energy to go out walking, etc.
This boils my blood! Need to take a breath! My doc also insists on TAKING STATINS! I quietly said, "NO." What can we do?? Honestly, it's cRAZY tImEs! RIGht? 🤨♥️
Outstanding, thank you!
So scary that bureaucrats are admonishing Doctor Cywes about his patient care. Such pretentiousness! This direction that medicine has taken is vile.
two of my brothers were put on statin drugs and within a year both had heart attacks
