  • Hey everyone, Prowl here and welcome to Keeping it Simple, a tutorial series targeted to show you how things are done. Today’s tutorial is showing off some of the best ways to move villagers around in Minecraft. Villagers can be really difficult to move around, and different methods may work better for different situations, so today, we will go over what I think are the top ones, and demonstrate how to do them.

    I actually have found an easier way to transport villagers using blocks that give villagers work. When a blank villager has no work, it searches for a work block to walk up to and change into that work type villager
    So what you can do is
    Step 1: break the work block which will remove the ownership of any villager that owns it already.
    Step 2: place it a short distance away from the villager your trying to transport but place the block in the direction where your taking the villager to
    Step 3: the villager with no work will move towards that block and get the job from that block
    Step 4: And repeat from step 1 until you reach the destination!

    Missing the bed method. Some people make the villagers path find at night to a bed and just keep moving and destroying it. Personally I think that is too tedious, but I have seen it done successfully. I agree with you about converting them. It is the best way, easiest way, and plus you get better trades as a bonus :)

    • @FateTheArcher
      @FateTheArcher Рік тому +8

      There's a daytime method for this too! If you get a workstation, and have a villager far enough away from a village or other workstations, they'll pathfind! Can cause difficulties in some situations when moving villagers... but if you combine it with the boat method-- using the work station next to a boat to force the village to go from one boat to another--- you can move a villager up slopes, sometimes even more quickly than with a boat and a water bucket!

    For those wondering some solid ways without building railways. Boat and water bucket trick. You can also use a boat, fishing rod and lead. Put villager in boat, attach lead to boat, if you put cursor on side of boat with fishing rod and cast it, the fishing rod will stick to boat. From there you can fling the boat with the villager still inside and the lead still attached. Just keep casting fishing rod on boat. May need to get technique down so the fishing rod does not attach to villager, but I found that standing from front or back of boat and casting onto side gets it to attach way more often. Now you should be able to "launch" your villager in a boat where it needs to go.

    There's two rivers connecting my current base to a nearby village, so I got them pretty easily. Do have to dig a tiny canal to join the two rivers but it's really short. Now I have pretty much straight access to the village via boat, and chest boat too, so I'll say boats works out really well.
    Also, I made a honey-piston platform to raise the boat that one block onto the shore, works wonders since I use it a lot 😂

    Great video, but i wanted to point out this can be done in early game with slightly adjusted method for curing. I just made a mob farm, farmed all the gold for the apples from dropped mob armor, kept 2 zombie villagers (from mob farm) that would pick up helmets to protect them from sunlight and a witch (also from mob farm) to throw splash potion of weakness on me and the zombies, then just feed them the golden apples and they cured. Maybe you can keep the witch from despawning with a boat I’m not entirely sure. The one thing is that she will only have a chance of throwing that specific potion if you’re within 3 blocks of her, i just trapped the zombies and her in one black wide enclosures separated by a building block from their waist down (and a trap door facing up against the separating block on her side to keep her back just a little extra so you can have concealment behind corner of structure, otherwise her angle of attack on you will be pretty wide)so they essentially had an opening to see each other and for her to throw potions, and i kept getting close enough in right by the zombies until she threw the correct potion, put another block between them sealing the witch off from them completely then fed them the apples. You will probably die a few times before you pull this off for the first time, but it’s definitely worth it if you want your own villagers early game.

Today I used the boat trick, and I got another group into the house in minutes at no cost. I tried the water bucket trick but I couldn't back up enough to get them into the house. So, i just created a level area with a deep pit. I was able to move them and then dump them into the pit. It got pretty crowded, but I think they liked it because they made a baby boy?girl? Hell, I'm not sure if the villagers have genders. Thanks again.

    I have one villager. He was beat up by a trident zombie so he's probably got one hit left on em. I'm afraid for his life. 😭 His village came with the update and he's literally the only one there. The village was constructed within a circle of mountains, surrounded by giant over hanging caves, so it's all broken. 2 brew buildings, 1 stone work building, 2 little farms, but 1 house. It's oddly lovely but it's also dark and scary down there, I'll be devastated if I "rescued" him just to get him killed. 😅

    My problem is, I’m building a trading hall. For that hall, I want villagers of every biome type in the game. To do this, I have to build a breeder in each biome I want villagers from, some of them being a couple thousand blocks away.
    So, the only transport method I can use for the long distance ones seems to be through the Nether. I’ve semi built a hub near the ceiling of the Nether, so I can have easy pathways between all the biomes with minimal mob encounters.
    It’s still a slow, tedious process, but Nether transport is by far the best way to transport villagers long distance.
    Having all the different types of villagers in the same place is worth it to me though, it makes the trading hall look really cool.

    Taking villagers through the nether is also a viable option. Good for going really long distances or even virtically. AnimusJ had a really good video demoing this technique. Otherwise, going up scaffolding with a boat and a lead, using a bubble elevator, drop chute with water at the bottom... All good things.

    Better then using powered rails is to use a powered minecart, since you don’t need all the powered rails which you always have to power as well.

    You can pull the boat up without using a bucket of water. You have to be two blocks above the boat and pull the boat with lead while jumping.

  • @Gakusangi
    @Gakusangi Рік тому +5

    Only use the boat as long as it takes to get an iron farm set up and then switch to rails. Remember, if you have a limited number of rails and especially POWERED rails, you can make a length of track with a block at the end to stop them, then destroy the track behind them and get your powered rails back and then build more track ahead of them. Repeat this process until you get wherever you're going.

    • @0tt869

    I found a bug in 1.17 (I don't know if it works earlier) if you take a 1 villager (only 1) put it in a boat, but that boat in a minecart, then for whatever reason the minecart will fly, and I mean FLY (not literally just really really fast) this doesn't require any powered rails.

    Now if only we could make a boat out of iron, that might withstand being launched from a tnt cannon. Also need a way to launch a boat with villager from that cannon. Or a sticky piston spring going up and one going horizontal to bounce them a distance. Basically I want to catapult villagers some how. Or ride a flying machine with lead attached to boat a flying boat. Villager, boat, lead, pillar up real high, flying machine to new location? Water pool as landing zone?

  • @OneLovePsych

    Sheeesh no wonder this was 130K views and only 2K likes, leaves out piston trick w/ the boat, says building a rail system is easier than a boat (It’s faster after a long build, rarely easier), shows zombie technique in creative only which is off limits to most difficulties and even then you only have a chance to get some (which you also need potions), and finally doesn’t even mention traveling through the nether which IS the fastest if you can’t find a village 🤦🏻‍♂️
