Thanks for covering this; nice to see them bring a lot of the RS2 features into the RS3 (given it's an RSC2 replacement, really). Auto-locking will save so much time.
Auto locking is (I hate to use it..but very true in this respect) game changing
Great video review. Thank you for making this! I just got the DJI rs3 and this answered a few questions I had about setup!
SUPER USEFUL Video, thankyou Chris! Have just picked up the RS3 combo for a couple of initial projects! Can't WAIT to get going on it!
Self locking is something you cant live without once you've tried it, seriously.
Hey mate, I’m trying to decide which one to get, was hoping you could tell me:
1: does the RS3 have balancing view?
2: can you view Raveneye transmission output on the RS3 gimbal screen? Or are both of these features for the Pro only
@@Luke-vg7ut to view the video off the lcd of the gimbal you must have the lidar attachment
@@lucrativestance No, you don't. You need the Raveneye Wireless Transmitter, I was just trying to figure out if it works on both the RS3 Pro and the RS3. I dont think you can even view the LiDAR cameras output on the gimbals screen on either gimbal.
@@Luke-vg7ut according to “ Dji website “ you can view the lidars camera on the ronin lcd, that’s how you would be selecting the “ active tracking” via the lcd on the screen from the lidar feed. The only thing that confuses me abit is, that if that same video feed will display on the app. So you can use the active tracking selection tool via app.
Is it worth overpaying for it?
This was super helpful. You just sold me sir. Good stuff
This video was my deciding factor for buying the RS3 over the RS3 mini. Great video as always!
Awesome review man. Your real estate shots look dope!
Appreciate it 🙏🏼
Just purchased one a week ago! Love it!
30 seconds in and I am already sold on this gimbal (don't worry I still watched the rest of the awesome review!)
hello. I'm using RS2 now, but I bought this newly released gimbal, RS3. It is equipped with various functions and is even more powerful. Stable smoothness is alive and well! I subscribed to the channel. thank you.
The RS3 is less powerful than the RS2
Great Video
Thanks I learned some new things for my gimbal!
Super video, as usual ;)
Thanking for showing the menues, I think you are the only one who did so far :P
Welcome!
Great content!
Been debating to get the rsc2 for the last week. So glad I waited.
Niceeee, love seeing gear continuing to get better and better. This will replace my Weebil-s super nicely:) Thanks for covering this!
No problem!
I am so jazzed for these. I had the rsc2 which I loved. I never really bonded with the RS2 the same way. Maybe it was just my copy but it had a lot of pan axis weirdness. The mk3 pro is looming as its replacement.
Edit: Oh my God the hardware mode switch 😍
huge upgrades all around
Great video thanknyou !
Thank you for this, my RS2 just died and was between an RS3 Mini( I would have bought if I was strictly a content creator) and this because I don’t have the budget for the pro right now. I don’t need the things the RS3 Pro offer right now but do need stable footage for real estate clients. I picked a used one and waiting for it now 🙌
First thought when I heard rumors was, "gimbals are gimbals, what could they actually add to make it worth upgrading."... well a lot I guess. Those features will make life a lot easier!
Yeh man I’ve been using this for a few weeks and the locks and Bluetooth control are both things I use EVERYTIME now. Super smart useful functionality
I literally just ordered this because of your review!
You’ll love it
The setting screen is now 1.8" full-color OLED and touchscreen?! that makes me so excited to try RS3!! Ordering soon!
yep! big upgrade
Haha!
Hello, Smith. Are you already using this stabilizer? What can you say about it? What are the pros and cons? Is it worth upgrading if the previous stabilizer works, but not quite correctly?
The best rs3 video I've watched
Thankyou
Hi Chris
Greate video!
The smallrig part to hold the phone mount, you forgot to add the link for it 😕
I just got the RS3 Pro (first gimball) and I need an extender for the phone mount, else there is no space for a full rotation.
So I am quite interested in which one you have in the video 😄
Hey bud. Cool channel! Met you & you're wife yesterday at a wedding! (I was the DJ) Cheers bud just wanted to bless the channel with a sub and a comment! You guys are true pros! happy fathers day!
Great working with you!
I like the no cables setup .
Best RS3 Review
I'm curious if you still use s cinetone? Or s log 3 for high dynamic range scenarios? BTW test footage looks buttery smooth! :) my fav video from all of them out there
Thanks for the video, great demonstrations!
I have one question for you, if weight capacity wasn't an issue, let's say, shotting with an a6xxx sony series + cage + sigma 16 1.4 or a7iii with 24mm...If you could get an used rs2 for less or almost the same price as a new RS3, what would you choose? Is the motors/stabilization improvement in the 3rd generation are that good to forget about carbon arms/ more robust construction of the rs2?
Could you show us how you balance the 70-200mm ? thank you !
Great video! Sold! Can you use your phone as Touch AF or similar?
2:26 good movement. THAKN YOU. so many cable was mess. Tell me its work with Sony A7III
7:47 the same mess. still cable every where. and not Z axis gymbal.
Thanks for the information. I've been running with the RS2 since it was released and it has done well for me. My only complaint is that I can't focus from the RS2 to my Canon EOS R5C. Whom do you think I should talk to in order to find out if upgrading to an RS3 would solve that problem?
Im really looking into getting the RS3 combo, this really helped. Im wondering what fps you shot the A7S3 clips in?
Hi. Thanks for the video. If I have lenses with a telescoping zoom then would I have to re balance the camera on the gimbal every time I adjust the zoom? Also, is there a benefit to having the focus motor if those are the lenses you have. I'm not sure how they benefit.
I have the Sony a1 with a Tamron 35 to 150 mm, and I'm stuck thinking about what gimbal I should go for. If I should go for the Rs3 pro or the Rs3.
Watching you put a 70-200 lens on the Rs3 makes me rethink whether I could be fine with just the Rs3.
What do you recommend me to go for? I want to do a lot of real estate with it, plus do you have a UA-cam channel with real estate content?
Do you think with some counter weights I could balance the 70-200 2.4 g master? I have the ZV-E1 which is also a really lite camera
If you have the extra handle on the left could you mount an external battery for the camera on right?
Maybe with a springy USB cable. I guess I could even mount a power bank on top of the camera.
Can I just ask please with all the footage of filming and shoots with the DJI RS3 gimbal. With all the scenes that have been filmed is this what they look like even though they haven't been edited. Is this what the formats of the video shows on this. For videography many thanks Robert.
Great video! So the RS3 should be strong enough to hold a Canon EOS R with an RF 15-35mm lens no problem correct? Sorry I'm new to these larger gimbals...I still use my DJI Pocket 2 for most of my B Roll gimbal video...
Can it do timelapse stuff like previous models? I haven't seen any mention of that even from DJI.
The man has all the professional tools he needs for his trade on the wall like Ironman ready to go into battle - drones, bags... a selection of caps...
Detachable battery? Now that's an upgrade!
yup!
Do you know if the Raven Eye Transmission system works in portrait mode? I would also like to know if you have already tested the DJR vertical mount with the Sigma 24-70?
Hi Chris - do you know if the RS3 works with the Sony A7iv? And if so, would the 24-70 gm2 on it fit well? I just had to return the Manfrotto MVG220 as it was too big... which is why I was thinking I may need the Pro rather than just the RS3...
I have watched multiple videos explaining how to pair my Sony a7s3 with the RS3 and I wasn't able to make the camera visibile for the gimbal. I've tried enabling Bluetooth, activating the remote via Bluetooth option, nothing worked. Do you have any advice in regards to this? Thanks a million and keep up the good work.
hi there thank you for your video! do you know if the raven eye has a receiver to connect to video switcher for multi cam switching?
Hi Chris, is a camera mount plate compatible with RSC2/RS2? I am using Falcam F38 plate on my RSC2. Can I use the same plate on RS3?
Question no.2 can be switched to portrait mode without dismounting from gimbal? With button press? Thanks a lot 👍
Do you know, or can check, if the RavenEye from RS2 works with RS3 Pro as well?
Does the front focus wheel work to manually focus the camera without the zoom motor?
Excellent, well planned and executed review, Chris. Wouldn't expect anything less. I have what I think is quite a niche query and I reckon you're the fella to answer this.
So my Weebill-S took quite a knock on a recent shoot and I'm pretty sure it's dead so I'm on the lookout for the replacement.
I've landed on the RS3 I think but here's the question. Shooting on the A7iii and I'm wondering with the Bluetooth connectivity, any thoughts as to being able to use the joystick on the gimbal to move Flexible Spot focus?🤔
I reckon that's highly unlikely and if so, does Raveneye support tap to focus on your mobile device do you know?
Thanks in advance. 🙏🏻
Great question. Ive looked everywhere for an answer to this and haven't found it. I have the same camera and focusing is the biggest sorespot when on a gimbal. Would love to know if you find out!
As an rs2 user, I’m looking for something a bit lighter for run and gun. Would I be able to move up to this gimbal if I’m not putting cinema cameras on and I’m not using the DJI transmission system? I do use raven eye which I see you went over
Can you control any zoom or focus wirelessly without adding attachments?
How would you go about balancing zoom lenses so that is good in every focal length ?
I use a 24-70 and sometimes it’s just randomly turns off… balance it mid way and I experience if I shoot 70 or 24 it just gives up but it says it’s fine when I am midway….
Sweet detachable batteries! That means we can bring an extra ones for total non-stop recording!!
exactly.
is it possible to control your gimbal with your phone if the bluetooth of the gimbal is connected with camera? and one more thing can i control the zoom of the lens 18-105 f4 G using the gimbal? thanks.
Do I understand correctly that rs3 combo kit does not include raveneye system? So what about tracking function? - isn't there no need for it anymore or do you have to buy it separately? Thanks 😉
Would the Ronin Rs3 be able to support the Canon 90d with the 18-135 mm lens ? I’m having trouble finding the answer , thank you! This would be my first gimbal so I want to be sure it works!
How does the stabilization work with a focus motor and a lens with no Internal Focus lens? Becauce it's stickingout?
can the wireless shutter control - control other camera setings other than recording such as aperture and all that?
Hi, Chris. I am just an enthusiast, not pro at all. I use an a7iii with Tamron lenses… plus, I rarely use manual focus lenses. With this in mind, I simply won’t need RS3 Pro.
However, I really really want the Transmission system and the active track. For this, I understand I can use the Transmission system along with RS3 and that should be enough. I will be losing out on LiDar support. I’m tempted by the carbon fiber body, and I may find the smaller handle slightly less comfortable.
But what else will I be losing if I go with the RS3 and not the RS3 Pro?
The mist filter in the studio drove me crazy.
Likewise, especially for the close ups of the screen. Live and learn
sweet =)
Thanks for this, do you think the RS3 would handle the Tamron 35 150 f2-2.8, its weighs 1.1kg and is quite long when extended, I guess probably fairly similar to your 70-200. Also can you control focus on focus by wire lenses with the gimbal dial?
Yessss, I got the same issue, it maxes out at 50 mm before having 0 free space when balancing, did you find a solution?
hey can you use the active track app in the phone for record yourself ?
I dont wann get the rs3 pro but i need this feature
i know the follow focus is upgraded from the rs2 pro combo but is the raven eye upgraded? or is it the same one?
Hi.Do you have the issue where in fpv mode you can’t adjust follow speed of the roll and tilt motors?
Chris, What a great video! Very informative with a lot of real life examples It has been a while sense I last touched base. Like you, I also have the aS73, do you know if you can control the ISO and the F stop setting from the gimbal w/o giving up the record button and still having the focus the way you described in your set up? I guess what I asking can you run all the camera settings from the gimbal? Again, fantastic well done video. Mark
Did you find out the answer? I'm intrested too
@@fedorbutorin3850 me too
Great video, I feel like the sequence would have looked better in 24 tho, 60 just looks so unnatural
Thanks for great review :) Is this bluetooth connection drain faster your battery from A7sIII? Is there still any option connect with camera by cable instead bluetooth? ?
you can connect via cable if you want yep
Can you just use the a7siii built in wireless monitoring using wifi insteadof raven eye?
My rs3 pro auto locks at an angle not perfectly lined up like yours did. Is there a setting to change that?
With that zoom the viewfinder doesn't get in the way whit that motor?
Can it balance a7siii+sigma 24-70 2.8 dg dn with VND filters in it ?? How is the stabilization at 70mm ??
Hi, do you have link for the handle you're using?
Can you comment if you're able to pan/tilt super slow with the joystick? I saw some settings for Slow/Medium/Fast, but can you fine tune the speed via a slider in the app or something? I'm particularly interested in knowing if you can pan slowly for telephoto (200mm) shots. Thanks
yeh its completely controllable like in previous models. Best way to fine tune it is in the Ronin App
Can an RS3 Pro handle a Sony FX6 with 70-200 GM Mark 2? Even with a small battery or no battery through D-Tap?
I’d imagine pretty easily yeh
Hey those shots you did with the caption “super smooth calibration” were smooooooth. What does that mean is that post production editing?
It’s a calibration setting within the gimbals menus. Just have to use a lens mount on the gimbal and re calibrate
@@chrisbrockhurst awesome thanks for the quick response that’s some real smooth footage for that being a setting on the gimbal!
Do you think it’s worth to upgrade from RSC2? Aside from the auto lock that is🤔
Wondering if this gimbal will support my Canon r5 + Canon rf 28-70 f2 (which is a HUGE & Heavy lens)
Is the raveneye included? Or is there a combo with it?
It would have been nice if you explained the different packages, the focus motor and raven eye doesn't come with the basic setup. Also Bluetooth doesn't work for every camera.
Hi is it possible to use sigma 150-600 mm contemporary lens with canon 200d mark ii on rs 3?
Love your channel my friend. Quick question, I apologize - which focus mode do you use for your footage with people. In the basketball scene do you use wide or center? Trying to learn as much as I can when it comes to multiple people coming in and out of the frame. Appreciate it!!
do u need to balance everytime u use this or u can set it to ur camera and lenses
Chris, will this rs3 handle the 70-200 2.8 mkii?
Greats vid, but im still confuse on How to use dji rs 3 in potrait mode ?
I’ve been balancing it vertically with a cage
Do you know if they have used the same shiity parts for the joystick ? Lotta them broke on the RSC2 ans RS2...
Thanks for this!
Considering on upgrading from the RSC2. Is the RavenEye included in the RS3 Combo?
RavenEye isnt included, its an additional purchase.
@@chrisbrockhurst Thank you!
That's too bad since the RSC2 Combo had the RavenEye included. Considering that the RS3 is the upgraded RSC2.
@@chrisbrockhurst hey bro does the RavenEye from RSC2 and the new Image tranmission product for RS3 are exactly the same ? can i buy the old raveneye for RS3 ?
Hey Chris, do you think that the RS3 can handle the BMPCC 4K?
hi ....! is it the pro version (dji rs3 ) ? when using the 70-200mm !! thanks!
Can the stabilizer be connected wirelessly to a Sony A7III?
Im really confused, how do you setup the wireless recording function shown at 0:20 ??
can you still use a RS3 on a non-compatible camera like a DSLR to stabilise footages? Kindly help. thanks!
great review!
Do You know if previous generation focus motor (from RS2, RSC2) is compatible with RS3? Older motor is around half the price and new one is still unavailable in most shops. Maybe you are in possession of focus motor from RS2 and can check if it works with RS3.
Also it would be nice to know if new focus motor from RS3 works with RS2
Great question, I don’t have the old one to test unfortunately
@@chrisbrockhurst then maybe you could try opposite - would focus motor from RS3 work with RS2
Until we get auto-recalibration where it automatically moves the camera around to cut 99% of the hassle I would stick to RS2 for now. RS3 Pro is the better upgrade due to the longer arms but it seems to be rated at 4.5kg just like RS2.
Yes this gimbal needs an auto calibration mode.. i put the camera with the lens up and the gimbal recognize it and auto calibrate
What's the name and model of the dual handle grip? And is it compatible with RS3?
I bought the RS2 a few months ago. I should have waited. Oh well, I guess I could sell my RS2 and buy the RS3 Pro. I like the no wires.
Are you using a half-strength or full-strength Glimmer Glass? Try the 1/4 GG instead is less distracting! :)
If put in vertical, can we flip the camera screen ?
