Funny story… when I tried my first sardines was after a 48 hour water fast and omg I fell in love with. I can eat them plain straight from the can but I really enjoyed them more with lemon, salt, hot sauce or a vinegar vegetables that I make.
Great video. I am becoming a big sardine fan. I would say if you are just starting to introduce sardines into your life, don’t give up. I was not too excited when I opened my first can, but now I absolutely love them. This is so interesting to see your results on sardine fasting , Jenny. I’m looking forward to trying a fast soon. Thank you for sharing with us. Been carnivore almost 7 years, but I’m always learning. In spite of carnivore, my auto immune condition of sjogerns is flaring up severely right now after being kept in check for so long. I am hoping the sardines and omega 3 help me. Keep up all your great content. I appreciate you.
So what happens when you start eating your regular carnivore foods again? Could you do a follow up video in a few weeks to update your progress or if you gained weight back.
You gain it back. I did twice for three days. Couldn’t stand the sardines, gave it a go, and after I gained the weight back twice, I said to myself “why do I put myself through this”!
Wow! You’re doing great! I’m on day 82 of carnivore and loving it. There are tests that my Dr won’t order 🙄 so I’ve ordered self-pay tests. I just ordered a Dexascan through that site. Thank you for sharing your results as it helps me understand how what we eat affects us. The testing is irrefutable! Have a lovely Holiday season. 😊❤
i'd love to see the staying power of these results. I'm considering a 3 day sardine fast after the holidays as I'm going to Mexico with my family for Christmas and I KNOW I'll be eating off plan at least a little.
Sardines are not the most exciting food but I can tolerate them. I added a tiny splash of ACV to a can of sardines and it was a game changer for me. Might be worth trying :)
Sorry to bother you,Allow to repost a question and share my cannivore story: I have been eating a carnivore diet for over 11 months. However, for over 12 weeks, I have been eating only chicken thighs (roast chicken most of the time). I am Brazilian and here in Brazil, red meat is very expensive due to the increase in inflation. I have lost some body fat, but only in the initial 3 weeks. (I have gone for over 3 months without losing body fat eating red meat) I eat 1.2 kg of chicken thighs for lunch and 7-9 whole eggs for dinner (in a 6 hour window). I still have at least 4-6 kg of body fat to lose to reach my goal of getting below 15% BF. (My weight is +-80 kg) I am 35 years old, 180 cm tall and I go to the gym 3 times a week. (I do resistance training to help build muscle and lose body fat) I am around 20% BF and would like to get below 15% BF. I have all the trouble losing body fat on the carnivore diet. (I have not lost much body fat in my carnivore experience. Regardless of whether I eat meat or chicken) Let me ask you a few questions about the carnivore diet, in my situation: 1- Should I start using the CICO model to lose the last 10-15 pounds of body fat that I still need to lose? 2- Can someone follow a cannivore diet if they can only afford chicken? 3- What would you recommend for those who only have the financial resources to buy chicken? Or for those in this situation, it might be better to not follow a carnivore diet. Maybe a ketogenic diet? PS: I am a healthy man with no health problems or chronic diseases and I started the carnivore diet to improve my body composition (mainly to lose body fat) without starving myself or counting calories (CICO MODEL) Thank you very much!
Hello! You could experiment with CICO, I have done so in the past with mixed results. You can definitely do Carnivore with only chicken and cheaper cuts of meat, just make it work for your budget. I love keto, I think it is a great dietary philosophy. I think the key is eating a meat heavy, whole real food diet in general. Not everyone needs to be on Carnivore.
I think you would greatly benefit from listening to Anthony Phaesse. He is an Australian carnivore coach who works specifically on body composition and fat reduction. Anthony Phaesse @theleanseven. He just had a great interview on Dave Mac's channel and addressed these exact questions! He has tons of free information also. Let me know what you think once you look into his philosophy. It sounds tailor-made for you.
LOVE your content. I am not a metrics/numbers gal-unless we're talking about the weight on the scale or my jeans (and maybe bra) size); lol! And somehow I so appreciate your validation that if I feel good (I do); and I've gone of all meds-I'm good! Would love more content about which sardines to look for and buy; because even though I love seafood, I have never eaten a sardine in my life.
Just a thought, I ended up buying mackerel instead because I have an aversion to sardines with their intact heads from childhood. My mom used to eat them and I found it disgusting. lol.😆
AWESOMENESS!! What some people - even doctors - do not know about Cholesterol is that there are two types - Small dense (not so good) and the Large Fluffy -(The Best) - look at the two as trucks that carry the 'bad' stuff from your body - while the small dense are only small pickups the Large Fluffy are the HUGE CAT Trucks that take the coal from a coal mine - My insurance did not pay for the MNR Blood work lipid panel but I did pay to have it done as my cholesterol numbers always hover above the 220 mark - I have the LARGE Fluffy particles that are good for me! Also my triglycerides are always below 60 and my HDLs are above 80 so that is also a great indicator of low risk rate!
I have only heard of arsenic poisoning from excessive sardine consumption. It hasn’t stopped me from preparing for my own sardine challenge but was interested about possible mercury poisoning, I’ve heard of that with tuna and albacore but with sardines people say arsenic!!! lol. Thanks for this video!

Hello! Sardine fasting I am only eating sardines. I may fry some up in butter, and I am looking to experiment with some other sardine recipes, but in general I just drain them and add salt. I use the ones with oil, but you can use either. I eat the bones, great for calcium. My original sardine fast video has a bunch more info in it :)

Hello! Quite the opposite. Berberine is a natural metformin and lacks the side effects of metformin. Also, metformin would be inappropriate for me because I am not prediabetic or diabetic.
@JennyMitich yes but why get berberine at like 40$ a month when 3 month supply of metformin long lasting is like 15$? Plus alot of supplements are not regulated. Dont know if its actually berberine or is it berberine with fillers
2:46 while you should always take DEXA results with a grain of salt, that's also 1.5 pounds of muscle loss. That is why you should NEVER do prolonged fasts or very low calorie diets if you care more about how youmlook than how much you weight.
Hello! Its lean mass, which is not just muscle. It is also the contents of your stomach and digestive system, along with how hydrated you are. Plus or minus 1-2 lbs of lean isnt a big deal. I would be more concerned if it was more than 2 lbs.
@JennyMitich yeah I know, I'm a medical physicist specialized in ionizing radiation based diagnostics and proton radiotherapy. Well with DEXa it's really hard to tell what it really is, most likely a combination of all the things you listed. On the other hand, 1-2 lbs of actual muscle tissue is damn lot. Basically it's what you can gain in a year of hard training after couple years of gym experience. It sure comes back faster, as the muscle memory is a real thing, but it is a step back. Research is very clear on that topic and even something Ike alternate day fasting results in a 60% more muscle loss than regular continuous calorie restrictive diet with at least 3 protein feeds per day. So if your focus is to build a healthy, strong physique I highly recommend not fasting more than the standard 16/8 window.

Hi Jenny, can you share what Sardines you ate besides the ones from World Market?
Hello! Yes, I do Wild Planet and Season from Costco
Deep subcutaneous fat shares more in common with visceral fat. Maybe good to think of three categories rather than two?
Maybe!
I dont think i could make it 10 days. 72 hours was brutal.

@JennyMitich for sure. I'll attempt this next time there are no sales on steak.
Have you checked arsenic levels. I was curious about mine and was considering it. Since i eat sardines regularly.
