Dave is definitely the hardest hitting drummer in Rock but Taylor is definitely the more technically sound drummer. Both dudes are badass.

I'd say that as Dave took off drumming and moved to guitar and singing/writing that Taylor has caught up to, and then surpassed the drumming of Dave. Taylor is a fucking savage on those drums.
After Alanis, Dave was a perfect luck for Taylor who is one of the best drummers in the rock world nowadays. He has also very good personality in my opinion.
I actually thought this album really highlighted Taylor's groove. It felt like a lot of these songs were built from the drums up.
Put some respect on this mans name! He doesn’t play “for Dave”, he plays for the FOO FIGHTERS YO!

This latest album is growing on me. I’m trying to like it. Wasted Light was seriously mind blowing. It felt like a Rush album in terms of technical writing and thoughtfulness. Not to mention it was tracked and recorded in Dave’s garage mostly.

Must be nice that the leader of the band is also a drummer. I'm sure Dave understands when Taylor is struggling with something. The drummer is usually kinda isolated in that regard, no one else understands their position.

I have to say , i was a nirvana fan since early 90s ... i just couldnt get into foo's ! But , dave is a cool guy . As drummer myself ive never seen him as amazing but he is/ was good and solid on the kit

I think Medicine at Midnight is a really cool album as everything done by the Foo Fighters, but I have to say respectfully and honestly that really love and prefer when Dave is involved in every part of the production process. Just saying, thank you for this interview!!!🤘🏽😎
I wish I could meet Dave. I was once playing guitar on a porch in Venice Beach. I was strumming about a girl and I look up and I could've swore Dave walked by and then he paused and I could've swore Taylor was with him. I immediately fucked up the song and stood up and walked into the shadows but I remember his face kinda in awe. I'm sure 90 million people will say I'm a liar or making it up but it did happen. Dave had a bottle of wine in his hands as well. I mean it was Abbott Kinney Blvd tons of famous people walk down there all the time but that for me was a crazy moment but it would be nice to see if it was him or if he recalls that memory.
The band is only as good as their drummer. Honestly that's why Blink sounded so great live, because of Travis

Taylor is a cool guy... when he was the drummer for Alanis Morissette I heard he was a dick. But, over the years, I’ve seen his friendship with Dave as Foo Fighter’s drummer and have seen him as a real cool, down-to-earth guy

Dave Grohl is a great drummer, but can't say he was the greatest of a whole decade in which drummers like Matt Cameron, Carter Beauford, Danny Carey, Vinnie Paul, Mike Portnoy, Dave Abbruzzese, etc were active.
Not even mentioning the HUGE amount of metal drummers .. such as gene hoglan , who literaly could wipe most drummers out with his abilities ( leading left foot on a righty kit for a start ) . The guy is very impressive . Hitting " heavy " means only so much . Dave was good though for sure
Maybe not the greatest, but he's defiantly the most "famous" out of all of them. So I think that's why maybe he gets the greatest comments so much

It’s nice to hear Dave admit he was big-headed about Foo Fighters for the first 5-8 years. It’s what turned me off from listening to them entirely. I haven’t listened to them since, if things are amiable and healthy now it might be nice to revisit them.

Shut a shame to hear Dave say that - because he really IS the foo fighters. No disrespect to the guys in total, in fact I like their individual work as well. But if it’s not 95% Dave’s idea I think you see the concepts deteriorate and the overall product not as good since wasting light.
I'm pretty sure Dave wrote the whole thing but what he meant was that the band had more input on the arrangement of each track than on previous records, and it shows! I really liked Chris' contribution to this album.
I might disagree. Sure Dave created the band and 95% of the music. But after 25 years & many albums it's likely a good thing Dave allowed more input on this one. Helps him continue to grow & open up as a musician. Helps reaffirm the band as a whole, and you find out if you can take a few chances. Props to Foo Fighters for keeping their game up!

Dave is the equivalent of Ringo in the Beatles. He come up with creative parts that supported the songs, influenced an entire generation of drummers and kicked ass doing it. But just like Ringo he wasn’t as accomplished of a drummer as his peers and that’s ok.

I think if you asked Dave, he’d tell you he was adequate and right for the material as a drummer....which makes him a great drummer for what he played on. As far as technical ability, and comparing him to guys like Simon Phillips or Thomas Lang...or even a guy like Brian Tichy, he isn’t on that level in my opinion.
I disagree. More toms, cymbals, fills, and odd time signatures does not make someone a better drummer. Dave's drumming is deceptive: It sounds simple but if you really break it down, you can see how technical it is. In my opinion at least.
