OMG I don't know if my liver could handle it! I think that was one of the best episodes to date. I have always loved how Dave is just a regular dude drinking shots.
Dave Grohl getting Sean hammered and then making his life by likening Hot Ones to Letterman & SNL was a top tier moment to witness. One of my all-time favourite episodes, this one.
I remember writing a paper on Hot Ones in my senior year of HS (Junior in college now), learning about that inspiration from his father watching talk shows specifically Letterman. We love to see our man Sean grow and get those dues.
Not only you can tell that Dave had a great time on the show, but you can also tell those shots did a number on Sean too, the dude seem even more relaxed and laid back than usual
The way Dave talks about Alabama Shakes says all you need to know about that man. He's a genuinely humble dude, grateful for all the music has given to him, and legitimately cheering for other artists as they work on coming up
I was fortunate enough to be at one of those festivals where FF were headlining and AL Shakes were coming up. Saw both, loved both, still do. Funny story, at a festival in Southern AL the FF were headlining I think the last night or so, and a big artist on Friday got delayed, so FF just came out and played for fun for an hour until the scheduled act could go on. Awesome experience.

Sean is definitely feeling those shots. And then Dave drops that massive bucket list compliment. I feel like Sean can't even handle whats going on and I love it because hes usually so in control.
I love the fact that this is the only Dave Grohl interview where either Nirvana or Kurt Cobain were not brought up what so ever. Also Dave's last bucket list item is so heart warming to hear as an AC/DC fan! Dave Grohl is such a nice guy by the looks of it.
Sean didn’t get a chance to ask all of his questions though, maybe one of them was a nirvana question. But he also alluded to his time in nirvana a few times but never mentioned the band name either so yeah
There is no shame in talking about Nirvana, it is part of his legacy. That said, what is there to say that hasn't already been said in a thousand more interviews. Not only do I feel like Dave is just a genuinely nice guy, but he IS Rock N Roll to the core. Doing shots with Dave and being told that being on Hot Ones is on his bucket list? Sean, I think this may be the best episode yet.
I think what made this episode so cool, is that there are just two people admiring each others work and just having fun. Dave killed it and made it look like mild ones.
There have been a lot of different people that brought their methods to make it less painful and I feel like this is the best one yet. Dave Grohl is so cool.
The secret to Dave Grohl's charm is that he is genuinely excited to meet people and do things. He is passionate about whomever and whatever he champions. And he is a working musician who puts in the hours and the sweat because he's in it for the music and the ideas and not the accoutrements.
This is my favorite episode so far. Watching Dave become progressively more unhinged, Sean progressively get hammered, and everyone in studio laughing over and over is great. Love it.
I wonder how Sean feels after having blown up so much. It must be crazy to think that one of the biggest legends in rock history comes home from practice, takes a tablespoon of your hot sauce, and then watches your internet show. Sean Evans is one of the best interviewers I have ever seen
Story Time: At a Foo Fighters concert 5ish years ago, my wife and I were stage left about 10 feet from the front. Mid-set, Dave is goin around the stage (without a mic) hyping the crowd and everyone has their hands up except me. Dave looked right at me and his expression of worry was so sincere. Like, the 'hey man, you havin a good time?' was all too clear. Granted, I was smilin and vibin, but I held up my wife's popcorn and water bottle (the two things keeping my hands out of the air) and laughed. Dave points at me, big relief laugh, and keeps on keepin on. Best 10 seconds I've ever had at a concert. The human experience of interacting with a genuinely nice person is unbeatable. Absolutely unparalleled man, band, and concert.
@@Jindorek And not just ''Hey, I watch your show'' or ''Hey, I like your show'' but actually saying ''You were on my bucket list''. Like wow! Such an honor coming from an Icon.
His take on overproducing is still some of the coolest knowledge. I didn’t realize how much I like the raw sound of imperfection rather than overproduction
It’s cool how Sean didn’t really ask Dave about Nirvana and his relationship with Kurt. Questions that he’s received from interviewers hundreds of times that are painful. Sean is an interviewer with social awareness and integrity
For sure. The guy’s a legend in his own right. And it’s still gotta be a horrible thing to think about. Besides. Every time I see Dave doing something - no matter what, whether he’s covering Dead Kennedy’s, playing with a broken leg, dipping on autograph vultures, or taking over hot ones, it’s simultaneously impressive, fun/and or hilarious.
It reminds me whenever I attended any Latino parties/gatherings. There's always a person insisting you take another shot and they make their rounds then come back to you at some point and insist you drink another.
Wow. Dave might actually take the crown as the coolest cucumber on the show. And Dave saying this was on his bucket list and seeing Sean almost well up. Priceless
Wow, he was hardly bothered by the spice. I wonder how he did it. Do you think it had anything to do with his choice to steadily consume a chemical that diminishes one's ability to experience physical pain? Naaah, that couldn't be it.

Wow that moment when Dave was listing his bucket list achievements, and putting Hot Ones on there, Sean looked genuinely teary eyed, what an honour. What a moment.
Thank you for providing us with an interview with Dave Grohl that's about Dave and not Nirvana. This show is so good at touching on aspects of people's lives that make for fun and light entertainment rather than a serious, book/record selling sit down
Wondering how many people are going on a Grohl binge after the tribute concert and stumbled across this. Mr Grohl just gets more likeable with each thing I see and the raw emotion in that concert and how he shines a spotlight on young talent despite him, the band and the family all battling their own personal fights is truly awe inspiring. Sincerely comes across as a genuine and nice guy. RIP Taylor
Well said mate 👍 I met Dave and Taylor in Dublin in 2007, dave said he liked my hat. A few months later I was in LA ans and ran into him outside Amoeba music and after mentioning Dublin he said 'oh you had the cowboy hat!' Really feel for Dave losing Kurt and Taylor. It was very obvious he had a really good relationship with them. He's an incredible musician and from what I can tell from all these interviews, a very decent, likeable and good person.
Its so prolific. Im amazed by him. The point is, how amazed Dave is of even himself. That was where we connected. I would point my son to this interview for great advice and to see the inside of a true great. humble, honest, true, motivated, and genuine. Man.
After 243 episodes, I feel like this is the one time Sean was doing everything he can to keep composure from going full fan mode. And I can't blame him Dave is a great guy.

I've watched so many of these but I've only just noticed the background music. It's so gentle and uplifting! It completely changes the vibe of the atmosphere, making it sound wholesome and pleasant.
Sean pulling the uno reverse card on Dave when he asks about what is the most painful thing that's happened to you, except getting dumped at prom. Sean pulling out that he knows that happened to Dave at graduation from reading Dave's book was brilliant.

I can't be the only one truly happy for Sean. You can tell how much this episode meant to him and how much he appreciates Dave being a genuine fan of it. Dave grohl is the fucking best
Dave Grohl is basically the cool uncle everybody loves, I dont think anyone ever has a bad thing to say about that man. He makes himself so relatable with everybody whether he knows you or not and that's awesome to see.
I FN LOVE Dave Grohl!!! I saw the foo fighters a few times but the most significant was when I saw them and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. I was close enough to the stage to shake hands with everyone and Dave was so cool about it!!! I got to shake his hand!!! Anthony Kiedis however walked right by us like we didn't exist. Flea did shake my hand though....
Dave definitely went in there DETERMINED to be the best guest ever and executed it flawlessly while probably not even trying that hard This was amazing
He did his homework. He knows that the sauce is gonna get him all loosey-goosey and unguarded in his responses, so he brought shots to do a similar thing to sean
One of the most intimate/emotional episodes of Hot Ones. Maybe because Dave was very affectionate towards the show and always kept his head above the sauces, or maybe because Sean got drunk by the end
I've seen Sean have fun with a guest but still be professional. I've seen him get insulted, take it and dish it back with professionalism. THIS ONE. I can tell this was a bucket list for him. He was starstruck and when Dave said how much this was a dream for him in the same vain as playing for SNL, and Dave Letterman I saw Sean break, his voice wavered. This is a moment that will live with him forever. This was awesome.
I'm not a follower of hot ones, but I am Dave. I want to thank Sean so much for bringing Dave out, for both conversations he delivered on FEEL and Connection. Because I agree 100%, there's no other inspiration but anything done live. Art, Music, Cooking, even Teaching (done right HA).
Out of every musician I've ever wanted to meet, Dave Grohl is top of the list. He just seems like such a cool, down to Earth, genuine guy who never let his fame go to his head. Combine him with one of the best interviewers in the business and you've got gold. This is easily a top 3 episode for me.
That turned into Sean hanging out with Dave, rather than an interview...and it ruled. It didn't come up in the show, but I still want to mention Dave's "Drum off" with Nandi Bushnell during the pandemic was one of the greatest things ever. And then having her play at a show last year was even better. Dave genuinely seems like one of the Good Guys that maybe the world doesn't deserve.
I had to read this 15 times to understand what you were saying... Lol looks like you're typing with the same hands YOU are taking shots with, or maybe I'm shooting the same eyes I'm seeing shots with?
It's just impossible to not love Dave Grohl. He befriends everybody. He's a professional at being himself and not taking life too seriously, and he's one of the greatest musicians and songwriters to ever live. I'm in the Ramsey and Grohl are on another level corner.
I think what made this episode so cool, is that there are just two people admiring each others work and just having fun. Dave killed it and made it look like mild ones.
He truly did Lorde it.
Also, drunk Sean.
This is hands down the best episode. Can we PLEASE get a part 2?
I'm sure Dave is a little busy at this point.. for a while.
Lol Dave had this planned for ages. He's a massive fan of the show and he's like, "YEAH!! IM GONNA BRING SHOTS!!!!"
Yeah, he's clearly been training for this 😂
There have been a lot of different people that brought their methods to make it less painful and I feel like this is the best one yet. Dave Grohl is so cool.
@Foo Fan aw just you hush already
straight up, dude took Da Bomb and dismantled it.
FRESH SHOTS
Dave Grohl.
The living example of "be excellent to each other."
and party on, dudes!
Sixty-nine.
I guess that doesn't include one's own family...
The secret to Dave Grohl's charm is that he is genuinely excited to meet people and do things. He is passionate about whomever and whatever he champions. And he is a working musician who puts in the hours and the sweat because he's in it for the music and the ideas and not the accoutrements.
He's got a ton of energy
I love how this just feels like a hang between two guys rather than an actual interview
This is my favorite episode so far. Watching Dave become progressively more unhinged, Sean progressively get hammered, and everyone in studio laughing over and over is great. Love it.
Grohl did a hell of a job getting under Sean's persona, this was a very human interaction. The man exudes charm and authenticity
I wonder how Sean feels after having blown up so much. It must be crazy to think that one of the biggest legends in rock history comes home from practice, takes a tablespoon of your hot sauce, and then watches your internet show. Sean Evans is one of the best interviewers I have ever seen
Best Hot Ones ending ever
What a sweetheart, he just wants everyone to have a good time
I love this about him so much. Such a caring dude.
Dude that’s an amazing story! For someone who’s played too many gigs to count I bet it’s interactions like that keep them going
Awesomeness ❗I am a new fan. That's cool he's so personable 🧡
I was picking a bug outta my nose and Dave jumped down and took a drumstick and jammed it up....an actual chicken leg.... I'll never remember it
Dave tipping his hat to Dime makes me smile. GETCHA PULL!!!!!!!!!!!
He really has Dime's fun loving personality as well
Sean has interviewed so many people and was always composed. Dave finally broke him. What a guy.
You're absolutely right. This was amazing.
I don't blame Sean. if someone of Dave's Calibre told me my show is something they watch all the time i'd get emotional too.
@@Jindorek And not just ''Hey, I watch your show'' or ''Hey, I like your show'' but actually saying ''You were on my bucket list''. Like wow! Such an honor coming from an Icon.
I know Sean would never pick a favorite episode, but you can’t help but recognize just how fun he’s having with Dave
They say to never meet your heroes, but Sean met his and not only was he not disappointed, but his hero gave him flowers. What a moment.
Watch him as he goes.
Great way to put it!
What a beautiful way to describe the moment.
And tasteful how Dave didn't totally neglect his history, by talking about SNL 92'. It's there for the fans but not the focus.
That is why I like this show so much, he never asks questions they are used to get
10000% agree
That was really the most impressive thing about this
The urgency in Dave's hospitality is so endearing.
He’s like your grandmother, feverishly insisting that you eat up…except instead of homemade meals, it’s homemade cocktails.
It reminds me whenever I attended any Latino parties/gatherings. There's always a person insisting you take another shot and they make their rounds then come back to you at some point and insist you drink another.
@@damagecontrol7 lmao as a latino thts exactly wht happens
Wow. Dave might actually take the crown as the coolest cucumber on the show. And Dave saying this was on his bucket list and seeing Sean almost well up. Priceless
so awesome
Wow, he was hardly bothered by the spice. I wonder how he did it. Do you think it had anything to do with his choice to steadily consume a chemical that diminishes one's ability to experience physical pain? Naaah, that couldn't be it.
@@WaitingtoHit what are u on bruh

@rose rose 27:23 is what you're looking for. Cheers!
Drunk Dave telling Sean "You're drunk" is absolutely golden.
Wow that moment when Dave was listing his bucket list achievements, and putting Hot Ones on there, Sean looked genuinely teary eyed, what an honour. What a moment.
I'm 5 shots in...and yeah I felt it.
RIP Taylor
Every day sinds the tribute💁🏻♀️
From old tapes, to recent songs, to everything from Nirvana & Foo Fighters, Taylor Hawkins 🕊
I definitely am. Currently 2 parts into his book also, legend.
Well said mate 👍 I met Dave and Taylor in Dublin in 2007, dave said he liked my hat. A few months later I was in LA ans and ran into him outside Amoeba music and after mentioning Dublin he said 'oh you had the cowboy hat!'
Really feel for Dave losing Kurt and Taylor. It was very obvious he had a really good relationship with them.
He's an incredible musician and from what I can tell from all these interviews, a very decent, likeable and good person.
He’s so true to himself. I can see all his natural thoughts coming out unfiltered and they are so good and funny. A genuinely lovely guy.
Yep, hi.
RIP OTH 🕊
“Let’s do another shot” is gonna go down in Hot Ones History hahaha he really is everyone’s RockNRoll dad this was awesome
I feel the world needs a Dave Grohl podcast.
Just, drinking and vibing and talking music and life.
Fuck yeah!!
Hell Yes
Making ppltake more shots
I’d honestly pay for that.
Its so prolific. Im amazed by him. The point is, how amazed Dave is of even himself. That was where we connected. I would point my son to this interview for great advice and to see the inside of a true great. humble, honest, true, motivated, and genuine. Man.
WHEN SEAN STARTS SWEARING YOU KNOW HE'S FEELING IT.
He is hilarious 😂 😃 😄
After 243 episodes, I feel like this is the one time Sean was doing everything he can to keep composure from going full fan mode. And I can't blame him Dave is a great guy.
27:27 Sean drunkenly singing the opening line of "Best of You" was elite
Sean singing "I got a confession to make...." to Dave Grohl in unexpected fashion. probably the most epic moment in the history of Hot Ones!

False. Grohl is the worst.

The fact that they have to sit six feet apart, but Dave is mixing both their drinks with his fingers 🤌😂. Love it!!
Right?!!! 😂🤣😅
I was thinking the same thing 😂
Just shows how dumb and theatrical all the c*v*d stuff has always been.

This episode was something else entirely. It's rare to see sincere emotion and shared humanity from celebrities. Dave Grohl is my new favourite person.
He is an amazing person 100% Look at everything he has done for fans in regards to his live tours :D

dave is one of the reasons why i'm a drummer, he's so cool! i learned to play the fill at the beginning of smells like teen spirit and it's so dependable
Dave Grohl has this ability to make you feel like you’re hanging out and talking to a old friend, an old cool af friend, that genuinely is interested in talking with you. It’s what makes him so loved by everyone.
100% that was literally 2 friends just chillin and catching up
Such a classic moment. Sean is known for his gentle ability to break down his guests. No surprise Grohl is the first to flip the script.
I think Theo Von did really good too. That’s top 3 for me.
this man is a legend. hearing him say "I'm in a band called the Foo Fighters and we're gonna play a bunch of shows" 3 months ago and knowing now that they may never play again breaks my heart.
Sean, thank you for an absolutely amazing episode.
Dave, thank you for being one of the most genuine and kind people this earth has to offer.
and lastly, Rock in Peace Taylor❤
Dave’s been through this before and came out the other side. It may take some time, but the Foo Fighters will be back. Dave’s stronger than most
@@zman2205 I don’t think it’s remotely the same. Though losing Kurt was awful, he and Taylor were like best friends for over 25 years. I hope they all recover but I totally understand if the Foos disband and they all do their own thing (which is what I think will happen).

Not only is Mr. Grohl a living rock legend, he also seems to be a genuinely nice, funny, and down-to-earth guy. He's so effortlessly engaging and entertaining it's almost unreal.

Dave Grohl is basically the cool uncle everybody loves, I dont think anyone ever has a bad thing to say about that man. He makes himself so relatable with everybody whether he knows you or not and that's awesome to see.
I would love to go to one of his barbecues and listen to music
It's the biggest red flag ever if somebody doesn't like Dave Grohl
I FN LOVE Dave Grohl!!! I saw the foo fighters a few times but the most significant was when I saw them and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. I was close enough to the stage to shake hands with everyone and Dave was so cool about it!!! I got to shake his hand!!! Anthony Kiedis however walked right by us like we didn't exist. Flea did shake my hand though....

He did his homework. He knows that the sauce is gonna get him all loosey-goosey and unguarded in his responses, so he brought shots to do a similar thing to sean
I like how they’re so far away from each other to be more covid-friendly, yet Grohl is putting his fingers in Sean’s drinks 😂

One of the most intimate/emotional episodes of Hot Ones. Maybe because Dave was very affectionate towards the show and always kept his head above the sauces, or maybe because Sean got drunk by the end
By far and away, the BEST EPISODE EVER!
Best one yet!! Sean had the best time I would 2 getting lit with a legend
This wasn’t an interview, this was two good friends getting drunk and eating wings, best episode 🤘🏻
The man had intentions from way before the show. He knows the way. Hahaha
