Very cool! I've got broken bracket on a retractable cord reel that I can't find a replacement for. I refuse to replace the entire unit for a dang bracket! Thanks for an idea.
I like your idea about using the wire rope, however I suggest that you use small rollers with the hook to hang the cord by just taping the cord to each roller. that way the cord will roll easy on the wire rope. But in order to do that you would have to put the rollers on the wire before clamping the end. Advantage is that you could just grab the end of the cord and just pull it towards the end to store the loops of cord. Just a suggestion lol. Mic works great.
@@Topgun83152 👍 yeah, I've seen it in factories before, like the one I work at, but only recently seen it in a home shop. It was kind of a "duh" moment.
Nice to hear the term of never saddling a dead horse from a youngster just something the OLD MAN Eliminator Performance thought i would comment on. Tried to get your email address hit the submit but it did not come up.
Use PVC pipe instead of the CPVC. The CPVC pipe degrades over a few years and becomes brittle. Even using a pipe cutter will make the CPVC pipe shatter. At work they ran water lines and a leak formed. Regular plastic pipe cutters just cracked pipe. A special CPVC pipe cutter is made for this. A small leak caused me to replace about 6 feet of pipe. Another option for slides is using small pulleys.
I would have bought pulleys, but this is basically a 0 budget project. I wouldn't use heat shrink because I would have to take the cable down and thread everything through the heat shrink.
@@jasnapon like i said in the video, cost and the low ceiling height make that an unattractive option for me. I would totally use one for work outside though, you got an extra one i can hang on the front of the shop?
Thanks for an interesting video, I now know I’m not alone in my habits!😂 mike from Montreal.
👍👍thanks for watching!
Been there done that decades ago. Got the idea from the jib cranes at work. Best improvement to my shop ever!
Always handy, never in the way!
@@1978lburick what did you use for sliders?

Great video. Great idea.
Thanks. I gotta get over and watch those videos on the Stitches Challenger!
So for the sliders I have used cheap key rings and zip tied on the cord
Dang, thats a good idea. I might go stop at the dollar store

I definetly would have used rollers if I had any on hand. Budget is minimal at this point, so maybe I can do that as an upgrade in the future
Damn smart.👍🇺🇸
👍
Your workshop looks like mine, only neater!

Maybe all those empty bottles on the shelf are part of the problem !! But good idea with the cord.

@@elliottsmith3632 wow. I've never actually used cpvc for anything, I just happened to have this piece kicking around.
Instead of tape use some heat shrik tubing. Can t believe the hardware store didn t have small pulleys. I know my local Ace store has them

Just hang a couple of reels at each end of the shop 🤔
