17:35 The 2 zip ties to the cord end to hang the cord is genius. I'm going to get some of these magnets for moving heavy corded appliances, like refrigerators, etc.
that looks good! I'm pretty picky about what I get from Harbor Freight but have been happy with their toolboxes for the price. That roller cabinet turned out really nice! Great idea with that door sweep for the drawer handles!
To be honest, it turned out a lot nicer than I expected! Good job! One thing I would change however, I would take a piece of sheetmetal and a piano hinge and make a door to go over the drawers. This would keep the dirt out, and keep the drawers from sliding open when you roll the cabinet around. Perhaps these drawers have slides that stay shut. The drawers on my HF welding cabinet don't and they come open every time I move it. Not anymore because I made a sliding bar that latches all the drawers at once. I also installed larger casters on the welding cabinet, too.
The latest generation of toolboxes from HF have drawer latches on every drawer, so thankfully that is not a problem. I remember the old days of pushing a cheap toolbox around, forgetting to lock it, and having the whole thing flip over when the drawers came out!
Greta video. Here I had purchased an ikea metal cabinet and planned to make a steel outer frame and attach casters and make a table top to mount my benchtop DP. . All that effort and I could have just done this. D’uh. Nice job. Love the rolling base idea and drawer sweeps. Will adopt that last one for my own tool cabinet!
I tried the casters that you show at approximately 4:00. No good at all. I replaced them with a better set that I ordered like you did. For just a little extra money, you can get better casters. Re: not a woodworker, It looks like do did exactly what you needed for your application. Looks great! Bonus points for the zip tie idea.
Great job, really like the butcher top! I just prefer 2 turning and 2 solid on casters it seems you have a little more stability, I want to do the same and use my old toolbox lower when I replace it!!!
I saw the icon version of that on sale in the close out at my local HF. Was thinking you could use it for something. I have a chuck of butcher block counter I picked a while back to use for something. Maybe I will put this together! I really want it for woodworking, but it might see cutting oil for light metal stuff and such so I didn't want to build a nice wood cabinet. This is an option. I'd build a different dolly with better wheels. I have one that is made from white oak with ball bearing casters that was made for heavy communications equipment. Will take most bumps and thresholds. Spend money on the casters and you won't regret it.
I suggest magnetic power safety switch or power strip. That way you can just plug i thr strip and even add a small shop vac. The ryobi link one is i think 50 bucks at hd on black Friday special your only gonna have it on for seconds to clean up after. Casters like that transformed my rubbermaid utilty carts especially with 4 swivels.
I would have built a dolly into the cavity at the bottom of the cabinet. At the least, i would attach the dolly to the cabinet while it was upside down then flip it over. That way you are not fighting the casters moving around
I would have used a Key ring loop on the cord, less of a chance that the zip tie would close or break... but other than that, not bad, definitely considering doing this for a couple tools I have...
I'm amused that I came to the same conclusion on Harbor Freight casters and bought those exact same castors (vevor) from Amazon as a result. I hope they work out good for you.
I have the same drill press on a kitchen cabinet that I added wheels for mobility. Our bench and drill press setups are in sync. My wheels on the front are lockable. I got them as a set on Amazon. The WEN drill press is a fantastic bench top unit for the price. I found mine in new condition on marketplace for $75.
I have trouble understanding most peoples' tendency to blow chips and shavings off with compressed air or a brush. Just scatters them all over to have to sweep them up later. Keep a shop vac nearby and suck them up.
I did a similar thing, but I am EXTREMELY careful to move it because of it being top heavy. My cabinet is wider so this narrow cab. would be a problem.
Amazing idea! I'd like to know where the drill holders came from. I don't own a drill press, but I do have 8 or 9 cordless tools that would fit on that holder.
I’ve had the same experience with HF casters. I end up going to HomeDepot for mine. Last time I picked up a set of four 4” wheels it set me back about $24 + tax but at least I didn’t have to wait on shipping.
I have definitely seen nicer ones at the box stores...hopefully we will see nicer ones at HF in the future. A lot of their lines are getting upgrades, so it is probably just a matter of time.
So, are those casters you used tight or do they have some play in them? I hate it when the casters jiggle and the the attached equipment has a corresponding jiggle..
If you're gonna replace the casters, you might as well get rid of the oversized dolly footprint and just attach them straight to the cabinet; or build a new dolly platform that's sized to fit the cabinet. Edit: Well I see why you didn't attach directly to the tool cabinet
Great idea I have 1 question Does it seem top heavy when you roll it around? I thought of doing something similar but making the dolly out of steel to lower the center of gravity. I have an older drill press that is made of heavy cast iron.
Good question...this platform seems very solid when I roll it around. If you have an uneven floor though, I would be more careful. The cabinet itself is quite heavy...I would probably strain myself trying to pick it up with the drawers in it. HF Lists the weight at 135lbs, and my drill press is probably close to that....hope that helps!
I have a pretty nice floor, but the weight of the end cabinet itself is very heavy for the size, so having the drill press on top is surprisingly stable. If you have an uneven floor, you would want to proceed with caution.

Looks great. Better than making a drill press stand from scratch. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
Nice mods and practical. I'm definetely stealing this idea for the Grey side box I haven't mounted on my 56 inch box yet.

Turned out really nice. Great job. Lots of good ideas.
Simple, effective, and looks good.
Looks great. The wheels match the drill press.
That was satisfying watching the butcher block sliding into place
Nice Job and a nice shop !!!
Just subscribed, you have what it takes to be a content creator!
Lots of good ideas, thank you.
I added the sided flip-up tray to mine. Now to add some of your mods. Thanks
Flip up side tray is a great idea! Thanks for sharing!
Well done! Very clever!
Very well thought out and well executed.

Nice enhancements.
Love it! I’m going to do exactly that with my drill press. 👌 THANKS!
Great ideas, thanks.

Was planning to do this. Thanks for blazing the trail!
I would have just taken a skill saw and trimmed the furniture dolly to fit inside the bottom of the cabinet

¡Simple and practical! Excellent job. Got my sub.
Thanks for sharing!
Nice nod to MORR.
Eye in the Sky 👍
I really enjoyed your project. Although, I can't see myself going with a white cabinet.

Haha, glad I am not the only one!!

Agreed on the drill press, I am very happy with it!

Plastic bag over a magnet near by and then a vacuum.
@akbychoice magnet for wood chips and sawdust?
I think the same thing. My shop vac is alway near by. Why sweep twice.
Probably looks cooler. Lol
@@whirledpeaz5758he’s on a roll. Let him have it. Lol
Thanks for the great idea, been looking for drill bit storage.
Great stuff, thanks!
I love this idea. Wonder how it would do with a bench grinder on it. May use the idea for my bandsaw
i built a custom doly recesed in to the bottom of the box from 2x.6 and 3 wleels use a vac for clean up
I did a similar thing, but I am EXTREMELY careful to move it because of it being top heavy. My cabinet is wider so this narrow cab. would be a problem.
Nice shirt!!!

Thanks!
I have the same drill press and have been looking for a better solution, than what I have. Thanks
Rub some used motor oil into all the wood you have sanded or cut to help seal it, give it some good color, and help it last longer.
Mineral oil or boiled linseed oil works well and is not as filthy in clean white shop.
Nice job.
Very crearive awsome job

@ here’s hoping! 🤞
is it top heavy could it tip over if wheels hit somthing

Awesome thank you!
is that cabilet super top-heavy? What are you seeing with it toppling over?

Had to subscribe both because your channel rocks, as well as to surpass that distasteful "666" sub count
