  • Good Morning, Reptilians! This week we’re feeding Reptilinks to the reptiles. Don’t like dealing with bugs/rodents? Reptilinks is a pretty cool, vitamin/calcium balanced option. (You still should feed a variety of things to your reptiles, of course: variety is important.)
    This is also an in-store option, if ordering large quantities isn’t for you, so that’s awesome. If you DO order from Reptilinks.com, you can use my code to save $5.

    Your snakes will generally start to synchronize their sheds. I hear this a lot. It seems to be light cycle and Pavlov's response based. It doesn't as much matter when you feed each snake as much as it matters that you come in to feed them and at what times. Shedding is a metabolic process and feeding responses are responsible for a lot of this behavior. I recommend Repti-links like many things, as a supplement. If your animals will eat them, there's no reason not to add them in. It's a nice way to mix things up for your animals and enrich them. I'm glad that they changed the skin from when they first started this product. Paper skins are not edible to the vast majority of obligate carnivores as they do not possess the gut bacteria to break down almost any kind of cellulose.

    So awesome! Love seeing animals enjoying them! All of my snakes always shed at the same time too 🥲

      So strange since they're all different ages... Maybe it's because they eat at the same time? 🐍

    I got the quail and frog blend to try with my hognose and he hasn't even offered to eat them. He'll do several tongue flicks and then he goes on with his life. He's been trying to brumate too so that may be part of it.

    Would that spray work for a Kenyan Sand Boa? I have a Juvenile I haven't been able to get to eat.
    He hasn't lost weight, but also hasn't eaten for us since we got him in Sept.
    He's very hydrated, just won't eat.

    • @ellesreptiles
      @ellesreptiles  6 місяців тому +1

      I don't know for sure that it'll work, but maybe! They have lots of different scents. So maybe the ASF, or maybe one of the lizard scents, since they also eat lizards in the wild. I've never kept a Kenyan Sand Boa, so I'm not sure, but I hope he starts eating soon! 💜💜💜

    • @grantwithers
      @grantwithers 6 місяців тому

      @@tjreptiles2019 yeah i wasn't sure how many you get in a pack, or how long they're supposed to last. looked like their packs were like 41 dollars (not sure with shipping). If you get like 20 sausages for 40 bucks and if a sausage lasts a dragon all day then you're looking at around what seems to be roughly double the cost of feeding superworms (more like 2.5x with shipping and all probably). If they need 2x sausages a day then you're looking at 4x the cost. luxury dragon food there. But a lot of owners like to feed cats and dogs the good soft food, so I guess there are some owners out there it's good for.

    • @zareptiles
      @zareptiles 6 місяців тому

      @@grantwithers because the prey is ground, each link is very calorie dense so you’ll want to feed less in the long run, so they end up lasting longer! They end up being equivalent to or alot of times cheaper than keeping a constant supply of rodents or insects if you don’t breed your own! Petco partnered with them to be able to sell single packs for those that just want to try it or maybe only have one animal :)

    • @grantwithers
      @grantwithers 6 місяців тому

      @@zareptiles That does make sense. I had considered that my bearded doesn't even eat all that much, so expecting it to eat a whole link as shown would be crazy. Might possibly eat the tip for the whole day.
