How to mask a pony in Sony Vegas, or Twizzle drinks too much and makes a crappy tutorial

- In honor of today being the day I move into the next age bracket on those silly youtube demographics (Protip: 25-34 no longer applies to me), I decided to take a break from butchering things in FL Studio and put together a masking tutorial. I was rather intoxicated during the recording of the video, and no less intoxicated during the recording of the audio. Don't drink kids, it's bad for you.
I glossed over quite a few things, so this isn't as great a tutorial as you might have hoped for. Still, it'll show you how to do the things I did in Applesheen, and my accidental 200 subscriber video. It will also save you the massive headache of being unable to find a masking tutorial that actually applies to editing ponies.
I do not edit for a living. I had never edited before the last week in April. I've never had an editing class. What you see is the result of me pressing random buttons in Vegas and figuring out what they do. There may be a better way to mask, but I haven't found it and no one I've asked has had any better advice. If you know something I don't, leave it in the comments because I certainly don't mind learning.

ChefMKT ( / chefmkt ) is the one who told me those three Vegas commands to get me started. He also taught me where to find track motion, and a little bit about keyframes.

@parccatlamall You want a clip to play slower? Hold down control, and left click (and hold) on the end (or beginning) of the clip. Stretch it out to cover more space on the track line. If you control-drag, the clip gets slowed or sped up to cover the new space.

@parccatlamall Open Track Motion. 2D Shadow and 2D glow are check boxes on there, each with their own "track" for keyframes.

@TehKJpot Eeyup, you can do that. I find most of the times the ponies I'm masking move enough that it's honestly faster for me to redraw the mask than it is to adjust 30 points.
Pitch shifting I can teach, but I've never done a YTP. Pitching takes about 3 seconds to explain. Select audio clip, press - or = on your keyboard to move the pitch down or up a step.

@mikeduels You can do that in vegas. Layers would be: background (Bottom), pedobear, tree (top).

@parccatlamall Scratch that, my "quick" video ended up being 20 min long because I'm moderately smashed and kept clicking on things. Track Motion can be found by clicking on the "picture in picture" box on the video track, 3 items over from the "track number" and next to "bypass motion blur." I'll still render and do this tutorial, just not right now.
@L0wD0wnPhX Keyframes? Think of them as markers. You define what the mask looks like at that particular keyframe. There's a whole lot more you can do with them, but for the sake of this tutorial, that's all you really need to know.
Derpy, could you PLEASE make a tutorial on proper pitch shifting. I can never get the sound to go apeshit like in all cool YTPs :(
@jokemasterslifer I always have it on, so I'm not really sure. I will say that masking and keyframes don't generally screw up for me.
@Uborpriest Pitch shifting is easy, but if you're talking about making ear rape, that's something else all together. I can slap something together after work tonight for the kicks if you want.

@laser000111 When I've had that happen, it's because I'm running dual monitors and for some reason vegas loses focus. For me, clicking back on the main vegas window displayed the mask properly again. When you close pan/crop, does it stay screwed up, or does it look correct?

I've gots a question, Let's say i want to mask a clip and have able to move around in a cell (background) while at the same time when that animated character moves behind something ( for ex. let's say I'll have pedo bear, hide behind fluttershy at the top right side of the screen at 15:06, only having his head and upper torso visible, while the rest of is body behind Fluttertree), how would I be able to do that? Is it possible on vegas, or on another program? I'll buy anything, Savvy?

if i got a pony i want to mask that haves frameglitches then what are the easiest way to do it? since i get some of the bagground within the greenscreen everytime..... :( please help
