I love your insight, I moved here because I like Thailand and am happy to be away from the bs of the US only to find a bunch of foreigners that want it to change to be more like the west.

You see that as well huh? It’s strange they leave the BS in the west then complain that Thailand isn’t like the west or they want n@zi laws like the west.🙄

I am thinking of a move to Thailand and if even Thai lawyers do not know how it will all shake out pertaining to taxes for money brought into the country for a foreigner it is difficult and a problem for me and most likely others to make commitment to the country for retirement. If the law as it pertains to foreigners living full time in Thailand becomes clearer, I would appreciate a video about such. Please put on you channel a Thai lawyer that can explain this in the future please. Thank you

I absolutely love your passion for this issue. I'm just astonished when I hear people say they watch a youtuber, and they gave specifics about how Thai law will apply to their followers. I always ask the follow-up question of: and you actually take legal advice from some foreign youtuber? I guess if you have a big UA-cam channel, you're considered an influencer who must know what you're saying. I find your content exactly as you intend. Educational and informative. You have a lot of good expats respect for your consistent respect to the Thai people and their governance as it should be. There is so much value in your words today. Cheers 🍻

Funny, I just saw a video from RW4U about the new tax laws, and the comments section is all a bunch of people freaking out. He did a similarly alarmist video about cannabis laws as well, just recently. And in comparison, yours are far more grounded, and far more informative. Keep up the good work

Theoretically yes as pensions are covered under article 40 of the Thai tax revenue code ( which defines what is considered as taxable income ) . However whether you actually pay tax depends on the double taxation agreement between your country and Thailand .

When discussing a law, how does somebody differentiate between legal advice and something like news commentary?
This definition of legal advice seems quite broad. It means that any news coverage or commentary that isn’t from a lawyer is illegal?
Most reporters aren’t lawyers but report on legal issues. Genuinely curious how this applies.

    • @IntegrityLegalThailand

In any add, promotional or speaking engagement lawyers in the USA will typically mention that they are not being retained and that they are not providing legal advice, blah, blah. But, I haven't seen any reliable UA-camrs that have been making definitive statements on what the new tax law/interpretation definitively means. They certainly have been scaring people for viewership which isn't hard to do when dealing with erratic government policies. I am limiting the amount of money I put in my Thai bank account until this tax issue is resolved.

Of course in internet is full of “advice” from people who don’t know what they’re talking about. That goes without saying these days. Pick any topic and people will have an opinion. Either their own opinion, or, more likely, some nonsense they read online posted by some other idiot. Anyway, that’s never going to stop. People will have opinions. People will express those opinions.

I agree entirely. I have been coming to Thai since 1986 and studying its economy from many years previous.
Today I AGAIN experienced bureaucratic problems (sudden changes in Immigration procedures from 2 years ago, regarding a simple residence certificate, nothing difficult...until 2024!!!. My example should provide evidence that what Mr. Ben says is true: all of the visa and tax issues foreigners is usually valuable information about related issues. Shit changes and if you want to live here, you have to accept those changes.
Pls understand what Mr Ben says: it is usually common sense. Some of his libertarian shit is over the top, however.I Trumpist shits get no respect from me. Traitors and Putin lovers are evil. Plain and simple.

Don't put words in my mouth, I'm not a "Trumpist," this channel is apolitical and I call it how I see it, like when I criticize how the Trump administration left the American lawful immigration system in a total state of disrepair. I'm not a traitor and I am not a "Putin lover".
