Makes perfect sense. At the time the Suzuki was the best to ride on the road. Then the bimmer came out and it was the best to ride on the road. And fair enough, the Suzuki is still the best leader bike to ride on the street out of the Japanese 4.
I wanna thank you boys for this vid. Ive been stuck at home for 9 months suffering a BAD concussion. Cant drive, can't ride. You have brought entertainment to my day !
I have a neighbour who has a Gixxer K1 version. He keeps on saying he wants a new bike, but 30 min later hes trying to fix it then going with a Liverpudlian accent "Ehhheeerrrhhhh i dunnow, i might keep eiiiit, its a K1 man, its magical"...
New rider here with a GSXR-125, 2023 model. Best fun I've had in years, I can't imagine how the 600 to 1000cc feel but I'll be completing my DAS and then upgrading to any of those.
After passing my direct access, the first "big bike" I've bought myself is a K7 GSXR 600, my dad rode one when I was growing up and I wanted one since I first saw it. Since passing my test he must've felt left out and gone and bought a K4 GSXR 1000. Bring on summer!
I had GSXR behind me yesterday and I knew it would be quicker than me but went for it anyway which was all going well until he undertook me (still OK) but then a Transit pulled out to avoid a broken down classic car. We both missed the van but was one of those heart in the mouth moments. GSXR looked great and the guy had classic leathers which seemed appropriate although probably 70's brown now.
Getting up at dawn and riding to a track day on my 1000 K5 Gixxer makes me feel truly god-like. Reality sets in shortly afterwards at about 9am, but still...what a bike it is!
Closest thing to a superpower is the moment you leave the racetrack and join the public road. Every onramp or roundabout just feels like the easiest thing in the world.
Excellent! This video has everything a biker needs, flowers, snails, genders, ages, and gsxr's. My eyes actually pixilated. 😂 One of the most enjoyable on the Tube.
One of my favorite bikes I ever had, an ‘02 GSXR 1000. Rode it all over Spain and raced it in the CEV. The tech inspector laughed because it was mostly stock and I’m not a small guy (6’3”, 235) and I qualified (admittedly dead last, but I made the grid!).
Crashed my K6 around 10 years ago now in the Picos and it was written off. Moved onto Bimmer S1000R (rubbishe) and then Tuono 1100 V4's (great), but alway miss my Gixer. This vid brought back all the hoonery that took place back in the day and was genuinely laughing out loud from the static throttle blipping to the multiple overtakes. Fantastic vid guys. Really funny. Have to look out for that new Gixer now when it relaunches.
In 1998, I bought a TL1000R (here in the US). I fought with it for 8 years, thinking I was just a shit rider, until I test rode a new, K6 750. I was and still am a shit rider, but it was so much easier to ride, and I never looked back. I've also had an L2 1000. They were always fantastic bikes that did exhibit some cheapness in fairing thickness, cracking turn signals, etc. in 2018 I bought a new GSX-R1000R. I know it's been panned, even by Al and Chris, but I think it's the best big GSX-R ever made. It has LOADS of midrange torque, 185 whp from just a can, and it's smaller than many 600s. Best of all, it's comfortable and has some thoughtful features. The only thing I added of value, was cruise control from MC Cruise. I watched Chopsie install it, and that was it for me. It's the perfect bike, IMO. Thanks as always for the top quality content.
I’ve got an 2017 1000 that I absolutely adore. Developments in chassis technology is incredible when I ride it back to back with my k6 600. The new chassis 1k feels just as light and flickable. You definitely feel the difference in weight by the end of a track day though. I’m definitely more worn out after riding the 1k all day.
Hell of a bike for the money! Same bike basically for 8 model years. The ubiquitousness means it’s a keeper, you will always be able to get parts. Mine is a 2023 1000R. Love it 👍🏻
The "new" engine with the mechanical VVT dropped the internal counterbalance shaft. Potentially gaining vibration and harshness compared to all the 1L engines that came before it. Certainly got with the program with big horsepower but not sure the NVH increases can be worth it sometimes. Really wish 1100 and 1200cc engines would come back.
@@RossWeitzner How people perceive vibration is very different from one person to the next. Also one bike to the next, vibration can vary due to small differences in how each machine is tuned in the ECU.
I’m a Gixxer Brah. I have a clean K3 and a K5, both with around 40,000 miles and still running very strong. Great bikes from a great era in superbikes.
I've had my K1 since September 2022.I added a Brembo front brake master cylinder and Brembo front disc rotors with Venhill braided brake lines front and rear, saved a lot of weignt by installing a Shido lithium ion battery, alloy rear sets,Yoshimura tri-oval system,K and N filter and NGK Iridium R plugs.I can't ever envisage a time when I could even think about replacing it,it does everything so well.
I recently switched to a 2004 GSXR1K from a 2015 CBR650F after having a riding hiatus of 15 years and although I loathe the riding position the bike is absolutely batshit crazy!
My K6 was the best bike I ever had. Should never have sold it. Was beautiful, powerful and so easy to ride even I managed to get into the 1.40s at Almeria. I’ve had every S1000RR since and only ever gone slower.
Had my K2 1000 for 8 years now. I remember opening the MCN double page spread on the Gsxr thou in 2001. Now I own my dream bike. What a machine! Cracking content guys😂 pmsl
Great Video as always lads. The first big bike i had a go on was a 1990 gsxr 750 in 1996 when i was 16. It was a lot faster than my fizz. I'll remember that feeling of speed forever
The embodiment of happier times, plenty of speed, mid-range, comfort, naughtiness.....I've got a tear in my eye 😢 A new Gixxer ?😍 thanks for making my day 👍🏻
I love this video. As a Lifetime Yamaha owner I have always appreciated the Japanese competition, GSX-R's, ZX-10's and the Fireblade's, all of my friends have had all these models from the 1980's to the present day.
Have an L0, remapped, decat, cf Yoshi cans, and BST cf wheels in the garage. Was planning on selling it next month, as it doesn't really get ridden much anymore... but this video has got me seriously reconsidering.
Great film guys. Should do more stuff on the classic sports bikes . I got a k7 1000 and love how even after 17 years it is stil a great all round package. In fact as more years go by and bikes become more tech loaded, the gixxer will remind people of what sports bikes used to be like
Getting my k7 750 fixed tomorrow after the last 'mechanic' to work on it left most of the fairing fasteners out and it basically exploded at 110km/h on the freeway. Had to push them to sort it out for me but it's finally happening. Thanks for the stellar content guys, obviously I agree with the gixxer love. See you all out there!
I could listen to these Gents banter back and forth all day , it always make me laugh and the bikes are great too !! I have been looking at GSXRs lately myself especially the 2011 editions .....Banter on boys
I started riding motorcycles back in 1997 on a 1996 GSX-R 750 blue & white SRAD. I now have a 2008 GSX-R 750 black on black and I still enjoy it every time I ride it. I've ridden it twice on COTA and have a third track event coming up this September.
Owned planty of Gixxers including a 1988 slingshot and K6. There are currently two in my garage. A race prepped 1000 and a 750. There's nothing like riding a Gixxer.
Late 80's early 90's the gixxer 750 was the only superbike to have. Obviously slow by today's standards but back then nothing could touch them, not even the 1100 - yeah in a straight line maybe but I'd be round the outside of them on the next bend giggling nervously in the face of the grim reaper. I migrated to a 750L in 1990 from an '85 500LC and was absolutely astounded what 5 years had done to bikes. Went on to an M the year after, wrote it off then stepped down to an RGV250 before back on another M then in ´95 bougt a 916 and have only had ducs since then... Nostalgia is kicking in now tho and wouldn't mind another L in the shed... Great bikes gixxers, lots of mad mad fond memories.
Feeling the lurve! My K3 1000, affectionately known as Slaggy, gets rinsed by the new sports bikes on track but bang for buck it's hard to beat for grins .... and cheap to repair 👍
It's funny how as time goes on, these bikes are what excite me more. I absolutely cannot be arsed by the new S1000RR, ZX10RR and CBR1000RR-RRrRRrRR's of this world. An older, more raw superbike for like 3 or 4 grand gets you thrills, good looks (subjective but hey), reliability (pretty much all of the japanese ones at least), more riding comfort as they're roomier and no effing around with ride modes, fault codes, tc settings and what have you not. It's crazy how much insane speed and fun is to be had for little money for those of us who realize that newer may be only 10% better in real life, for 1000% more money.
Im pretty sure i passed this bike in edinburgh on the way to work this morning. Would explain why they werent filtering with me if its a new bike for them!
I'm a big GSX-R fan, especially the K1 design. Sadly never owned one. The last time I was on the lookout there were no reasonably priced ones around and I ended up with a RSV Mille ME which I really love. Still have the GSX-R on my bucket list. 😄 And good timing with the SERT Yoshimura Suzuki winning the 24 hours of Le Mans.
Ex real man here, sold my last gixxer, a 2018, and miss it badly, great bike. The slab side double headlight was a true iconic bike and benchmark for all sports bikes ✊ I think a curly wig like the hells angel who fights filo beddo wears would be a far better fit for chubbs 👍
What a banging video. Such good content. Proper twatting about on bikes. There is no better feeling than when you ride like this (on occasions, cough), the mood clicks and boom, you feel on top of the world.
Awesome gents. As an ex Australian Superbike Team Suzuki racer predating all the modern tech nannies there are two arguments here. The naughties ones in full race spec made more power than what a brand new stock one does. Yet still rideable. Just one reason why arguably one of the best racers on two wheels decided to retire early in his career. I’m speaking of Casey Stoner who was against having all the electronic rider aids which has always made me think if they didn’t would Marquez be regarded as high as he is if his bulk of racing was without them. We will never know. You can go back further to the Big Bang days. I’ve been fortunate enough to have ridden one around Phillip Island, my old home track, and although I know it well, the last of the 500 two strokes were an absolute handful which is why that generation was unbelievable!
Nice vid lads. I particularly like the old people B roll when winding it on. 😄 90’s to early noughties is the sweetspot for me for both cars and bikes. Analogue all the way. I value feel and interactiveness over out and out power. Plus it’s the era I passed my test in. I had a K5 GSXR750 anniversary when new with a ‘99 blade and 4XV R1. I still have a 5JJ R1 now but GSXRs are great. 😎
It's Gixxer Brah! I know I used to own a 1000K4 😂 and there is plenty of life in the GSXR old Girl cause it just spank every other manufacturer in 24 hours of Le Mans 2024!! My K4 was a superb motorcycle for everything I wanted to do -track days ✅ -1000miles in 24 hours through Europe comfortable ✅ -bulletproof reliability ✅ (except regular) -absolute hoot on a Sunday blast ✅ Ps the reason why GSXR look more used than R1s or Fireblades because GSXR are used all year round! Plus because they were cheepish to buy people didn't properly care for them. Epick Video Boy. Ps I'm still checking used bike offers because I want my yellow and black 1000K4 with an Akrapovic exhaust and an up only quickshifter - because Gixxer Brahs know how to blip the throttle on the way down ⬇️🎤
Glorious stuff, I ride these roads all the time, used to commute from Pompey to Upper Farringdon everyday on my blade but now got a k1 thou just like this one 🤘🏻.
I've had several gixxers over the years and absolutely love them. They are just a solid, reliable bike with all the power you could possibly want and look awesome to boot plus they're still very affordable.
Loved terrorizing rural Essex on my 1989 GSXR1100K back in the day. Wearing a Schwantz rep helmet and dayglo Alpinestars boots and gloves of course. That thing would try to kill you every time you opened the throttle!!
I bought a new K1 thou’ in December 2001, still have it. It now has 50k miles on the clock and I can’t see myself ever selling it but I’m 65 and no doubt it’ll be more and more difficult to throw my leg over it….
I have an L6, which I love. Low end and mid-range is surprisingly good for such a tall-geared bike. I do all my own maintenance and it's utterly reliable. I've spend money upgrading the brakes and suspension and couldn't be happier with it.
Watching these videos makes me glad I don’t live in the UK. Seems like there is an abundance of rules, government surveillance on its subjects, and rain. Love GSX-Rs never got why snobs poo-poo’d them. Every Suzuki I’ve owned has been extremely reliable, well put together, and seemingly engineered with some consideration towards the person who has to work on them. Great vid.
people poo poo on GSXR's because they work all the time. Apparently if you don't own a bike that breaks down every week, and you don't spend your weekends out on the driveway repairing the thing with your Halfords socket set, then it means you have a boring bike.
Love the vid! I had a K4 thou back in about 2006, had it for quite a few years, wish I’d bought a K5/K6 but never did, took one for a test ride and I remember thinking WOW this is a frikin beast !! 🤣👍
K7 with the twin arrows is such a great look a loved mine I started with the 600 s rad then a k7 750 k7 1000 and had the L6 anniversary model they were all great bikes
Love the GSX-R's!!! Have mine dressed in a few anodized bits and a blue screen (flavor of the day) for nights on the town but all her original parts are still mint :)
The GSX-S1000/GT/GX carries that classic K5 mill onward and upward.... with mods of course. The amount of speed shops, drag racers, landspeed guys that have modified the living poo out of the K5 engine is endless. There's multiple shops that can pull it apart and do the headwork and stroker crank and bore and valve jobs and compression and all the rest and end up with 210 wheel HP and near 100 ft-lb. And it holds up. In stock form the K5 engine has been abused, swapped, beat on, frozen, drowned and it just keeps going.
Mr BVG been a massive fan of yours for years, I can concur. I've got a 2002 k1 600. It's my second one I regretted selling my first one 9 years ago. Bought one when I first passed, had Aprilia RSVR factory, a KTM rc8r which got nicked sadly. I have bought another Gixxer now which currently resides in Southern Spain for me and my son. Fantastic bike 🎉🎉🎉❤❤😊😊😊
Loving all the gsxr love recently. Would be interesting to see you take out the k8 and a new gsxs 1000 (naked) out to see how much of that simple, raw old school feeling you can get.

This is so good! I loved my K7 1000. Makes me want another after watching this for sure 😂 and it's a shame you have to blur out the wheeliss
Ex real man here, sold my last gixxer, a 2018, and miss it badly, great bike. The slab side double headlight was a true iconic bike and benchmark for all sports bikes ✊
I think a curly wig like the hells angel who fights filo beddo wears would be a far better fit for chubbs 👍
Roaring laughter on the sections where you make progress says it all to me!
I've just sold my K7 750 and got a Gen 2 S1000rr, but I can see myself going back to a gixxer at some point, just love 'em 🤷🏼♂️
I've got a K3 thou, would not change it for another. Epic bike and a proper physical size for my 6ft 4 frame
Love it ❤ Some of my happiest memories are on the back of a gixer
Going to be getting a 2000ish gixxer600 soon. First big bike.
Nice vid lads. I particularly like the old people B roll when winding it on. 😄
90’s to early noughties is the sweetspot for me for both cars and bikes.
Analogue all the way. I value feel and interactiveness over out and out power. Plus it’s the era I passed my test in.
I had a K5 GSXR750 anniversary when new with a ‘99 blade and 4XV R1. I still have a 5JJ R1 now but GSXRs are great. 😎
I hope they bring out the 750 again. Gap in the market for it.
It's Gixxer Brah! I know I used to own a 1000K4 😂 and there is plenty of life in the GSXR old Girl cause it just spank every other manufacturer in 24 hours of Le Mans 2024!! My K4 was a superb motorcycle for everything I wanted to do -track days ✅
-1000miles in 24 hours through Europe comfortable ✅
-bulletproof reliability ✅ (except regular)
-absolute hoot on a Sunday blast ✅
Ps the reason why GSXR look more used than R1s or Fireblades because GSXR are used all year round! Plus because they were cheepish to buy people didn't properly care for them.
Epick Video Boy.
Ps I'm still checking used bike offers because I want my yellow and black 1000K4 with an Akrapovic exhaust and an up only quickshifter - because Gixxer Brahs know how to blip the throttle on the way down ⬇️🎤
Always have a soft spot for a Gixxer, my 1st superbike was a ZK4 1000. That limited Stealth edition 😍
I just saw a Reece's Pieces ad and the voiceover sounded exactly like Chris!!
Glorious stuff, I ride these roads all the time, used to commute from Pompey to Upper Farringdon everyday on my blade but now got a k1 thou just like this one 🤘🏻.
These old school double vlogs are classic content keep it up boys!
🎶🎶"Back in the GSXR"🎶🎶
I've had several gixxers over the years and absolutely love them. They are just a solid, reliable bike with all the power you could possibly want and look awesome to boot plus they're still very affordable.
Always miss my k1 1000. Bonkers engine. The 750 calipers were actually better stoppers than the 6 piston fyi.
Loved terrorizing rural Essex on my 1989 GSXR1100K back in the day. Wearing a Schwantz rep helmet and dayglo Alpinestars boots and gloves of course. That thing would try to kill you every time you opened the throttle!!
Ridden that route many times over the years. Good memories.
I bought a new K1 thou’ in December 2001, still have it. It now has 50k miles on the clock and I can’t see myself ever selling it but I’m 65 and no doubt it’ll be more and more difficult to throw my leg over it….
I've got a K6GSXR and love it ,,had two 1100s ,, a 750. , and 2 thousands,, great bike bike
I have an L6, which I love. Low end and mid-range is surprisingly good for such a tall-geared bike. I do all my own maintenance and it's utterly reliable. I've spend money upgrading the brakes and suspension and couldn't be happier with it.
Had a piss week thus far (I know it’s only Wednesday !😂) this was just the tonic ! Cheers guys 🫡 hilarious stuff .
I remember the green landing episode! Classic
K7 with the twin arrows is such a great look a loved mine I started with the 600 s rad then a k7 750 k7 1000 and had the L6 anniversary model they were all great bikes
one is burning right now on the esplanade here in Jersey, luckily mine is for sale, so hopefully he gets his insurance payout pronto lol
My first big big after passing my bike test in 1991 was a gsxr750j slingshot..in blue and white...I loved that bike..
Had both of these bikes used every ounce of power never missed a beat my best biking years ever
nothing I love more than seeing you two out riding some nice old bikes, maybe some good head, but it'd have to be really good
Never, have I ever, passed up on a 44Teeth vid!!!
To me that twin silencer gixxer was so cool, sound looks etc...
Always been Suzuki fan, had the k2 750 that i loved as a kid. Sold that few years ago got the gsxs750 now, but feeling a k8 gixer1000 is next
I bought a brand new gsxr750k4 when I has 21 and I still have it. Don't think il ever be able to part with it.
Love the GSX-R's!!! Have mine dressed in a few anodized bits and a blue screen (flavor of the day) for nights on the town but all her original parts are still mint :)
Add a Micron blue exhaust can for the win!
These ones where you just go riding are the best ones
Had a smile on my face the whole episode. Got bigger when they cut away and could hear the fellas giggling like teenagers.
when you said about the fleckle in the paint it reminded me of the rgv250 i had in 95!had a blue fleckle in the black.little details eh!😂
