Hondas are limited, probably sold out by now, especially the SP,so the Z900 is probably a good 2nd choice, standard one, spare cash spent uncorking it! Great bike for the money. It has been a great seller for Kawasaki all over the world. The suspension and front brakes issues you mentioned [ a bit soft] are improved considerably with the SE version. Shame they did not have that one there for you to test as well Nige. However that one is 11 grand , so you get what you pay for. I rode the 2018 model and enjoyed it immensely. In fact I found it more fun than the more expensive Honda CB1000 R sports neo. I also think Kawasaki have a big gap in their naked line up. There is a huge difference in price and performance between this and the mighty ZH2 naked. A Z1100 naked would definitely fill that and sell well. Anyway great video chap.

As mentioned, I'd prefer a comparison between the closest models. Comparing this to the SP is a bit wrong in my humble. And where are the tests of the non SP versions? Admittedly, sub 10k for the Hornet SP is awesome, but it's 800 quid more. And did anyone see Katie's test SP? The welds look like they'd been done by a drunk toddler.

They're an awesome engine, but I found it a very uninspiring bike when I owned one.
Now on an MT09 and the spice of that engine is just next level, the only bikes I've had that eclipsed it were a Husqvarna Nuda and a Ducati 999

I’ve lost count of the number of times it was compared to the SP. Which is completely wrong. Rather, it should be compared to the base model Hornet 1000 as that doesn’t have the upgraded suspension and additional power.

How is the z900 a direct competitor to the CB1000 when the Honda makes 30 more horsepower pretty much. The prices might be similar but performance is not close. This is not a direct competitor lol, it's like saying the Mt10 is a direct competitor to the streetfighter V4 or the Tuono V4 or the ZH2 even the SuperDuke 1390. It's just not even close. 30hp is the difference between an early 2000s superbike like a GSXR1000 or a CBR1000RR and a modern day S1000RR or a modern day GSXR1000 or R1

Thank you very much indeed Al, an honest and overall great review! I like the look of the bike and I can look past the levers. I really dig the green frame and the matte look. Price is reasonable.. but.. I'd like just one level more power. Don't need a 200 hp hypernaked, but as a seasoned rider, I want that 150. I rode 120 hp in an only slightly heavier naked over 20 years ago! I don't know why it's hard to have an upper middle class, like the hornet, without the frills, for that exact that price from Kawasaki.Still, I wish it to become successful, I'd love to see it on the road!
