- I'm back with another video today at the Kennington Lane Cafe in Vauxhall as I haven't reviewed a breakfast in a while. I stumbled upon this café online and saw that it had amazing reviews so I thought I'd pop along and see for myself!

I have to say how refreshing and enjoyable it is to see such a well rounded review, once again! You are even polite enough to leave as you could see they were busy. You genuinely seem surprised that your subscribers are growing so quickly, but you should actually be surprised that they are not growing even faster. Great formula, love it and thank you for giving me and so many others these little escapes!

A proper café brekkie, none of your fancy stuff, just good, wholesome well cooked food, and definitely not a greasy spoon. I love bubble with breakfast, I would have mushrooms instead of beans. That toast even looked good, throw in a cup of tea, and it had it all and such good value. Great review Gary, but I now want that breakfast !

I would call this a greasy spoon, it's generally what I call café etc.. not in a derogatory way I may add... This place looked.fantastic

It's the right price not a bargain. Peoplea are getting too used to places charging 15quid for a breakfast or 20quid for a burger.
That's probably the best fry up I've ever seen, and yes, there are massive fry ups with 3 of everything etc..(too much) everything there was cooked perfectly and in proper proportion and excellent value for money!
It's also good to see you appreciate the food by not drizzling loads of ketchup and HP all over it (just a sensible amount)

The quality of the bacon and sausages with the tea and toast thrown in for around £10 in London is incredible value. And to top it off it's a decent quantity of food too.

Can’t beat a slide frice. It’s healthy spelt like that! Tis a dying art on the breakfast plate these days I find. Too many health experts advising! Once again great stuff Gary!

Fried bread and bubble and squeak are two of my favorites. Unfortunately, neither one is served anywhere in the US. I occasionally make a piece of fried bread for myself but it’s not the same as getting it as part of a huge full English!

I definitely love a fried slice but obviously, not too often! The Bubble and Squeak also looked great, as did the rest of the food. Perfect, runny eggs and beans on the side rather than in a bowl. Nice to see you availing yourself of some brown sauce for once too. Good little find there, well done.

I wish more cafes would offer fried slices with their breakfasts. They seem to be harder and harder to get..one of my favourite items in a full breakfast. Another brilliant review, mate. Cheers!

Everything on that plate looked very well cooked. I haven't had a fried slice since I was a kid ! Fried slice & bubble is something we don't get on a breakfast here if you go to a cafe. Can't wait for you to revisit this fantastic cafe for a roast dinner ! WOW - I just realised you are on 27K Subscribers Gary !!!! Well done ! At the moment I am out of work & your videos give me a smile each day so thank you for that !

I used to work on Kennington Lane and I have indeed had the fried slice at this cafe! By the way, if anything ever goes wrong with your camera kit and you’re in Vauxhall, just further down Kennington Lane is Fixation/Wex (where I worked), they’re a repair centre/shop/rental house and they are very good 👍🏻

Being a south Londoner I really appreciate you finding and reviewing these gems on my manor will definitely visit This place when I am in kennington/vauxhall next the food looked delicious and what a fantastic price.

As a Brit living a good life in Texas for 48 years I have to admit that this is one thing from home that I miss. I could easily cook this but I can’t easily find real back bacon or real bangers. Everyone has a slight variation but my ingredient set would be:
Fried eggs of course
Bacon
Sausages
Black pudding
Real field mushrooms
Baked beans
Fried bread
Hot buttered toast
Strong coffee
However, I really like bubble and squeak and some of that would blend very well. Done with a little crispy edges etc.
I could make bubble and squeak with leftovers so I will remake my relationship with that. A good dollop of B and S with a couple of eggs would do nicely!

You can't find those things in Texas??? I think if you look you will find easily ! Texans know how to eat all the world's meats.
@@pavelow235 you are correct as there are at least two “British” shops north of Houston but a long drive for me. There are also ingredients available by mail. I just can’t get them easily locally at grocery stores, even big ones. Bangers, back bacon and good black pudding are the main things not available in local stores. Interestingly, the British shops have the bangers made here in the US!
That was a proper breakfast Gary. Excellent value too. Eggs were cooked to perfection, runny yolks and no browning round the edges. I love bubble and fried slice. Thing is fried bread should be cooked in beef dripping not sunflower oil as it sadly is in most cafes. 😢

I remember going here years ago when I lived in the area. Breakfast was great, but I always got the tuna melt panini with chips as a treat. Brought back memories watching this video :)

I love a decent English breakfast now and then, the fried slice is getting a rare beast and like you I'd put the egg on the slice or on the toast and let the yoke sink in.

I lived my teen years in Kennington lane ….a long time ago . Yes that breakfast looked spot on. I would always put white pepper on my baked beans . Excellent review Gary ….you’re keeping up the good work 👍😊

I love a fried slice. Those eggs were cooked perfectly as was the bacon. I like the way the sausages were cooked.
My breakfast of choice is exactly what you have there if we swapped the bubble for chips.😁
£10.50 is excellent value including the tea.
That place did very good lunches back in the day too.
I'm giving that a 10 cos I love a breakfast and that place takes me back to the days when I didn't worry about the consequences of a fried slice.

It was good to see you have the ‘fried slice’ and bubble & squeak as part of your breakfast 🍳; it brought back memories for me, as my late Dad made delicious versions of both of them when I was a youngster! Maybe it’s a London thing, because he was a Londoner and I’ve not seen fried bread, (as we knew it), elsewhere much. I’ve tried making it myself, but he had the magic touch to make it perfect! Thanks for this suggestion; hopefully I can visit the cafe one day and savour the flavours! 🙂

I have to say I love the way you review your food. Your consistant in every review, that breakfast looked amazing for the price. The way you put your egg on the the fried slice then the bubble was exactly how I would have done it 😂 although the egg on the bubble was not as runny. Keep doing what your doing Gary as I for one look forward to your informative reviews cheers 😊

The eggs looked perfect, as did the bacon. I think it would be interesting to know your opinion on exactly where marks are lost. I know you’ve done it before, and it’s an added interest feature. Another great video!

Am glad you enjoyed your meal there. I used to eat breakfast nearly every day from 2009 to 2012. Used to get there early and help Halil get the furniture out, and for that I got fresh tonmatoes instead of beans. No charge. The Shepherds Pie which they do most days is incredible and I love to whole place. For me the best in London. Other reviewers have gone there too with similar experience, very positive. The sausages are fresh, not frozen and the eggs are delightful. The bread is bloomer, its fantastic. Am curious to try their kebab shop next door too, but am never there now, am retired now. Please don't forget Christys Fish and Chip shop in Thames Ditton, half way between Kingston and the Scily Isles on the Portsmouth Road :)

What a breakfast!! Everything cooked to perfection, not easy to do on a full english. Add some mushrooms it would have been a good ten for me..Ohh that fried slice looked mouth watering. I know they are very fattening but i wouldnt mind having one every few months!! The price was outstanding for that level of quality i think. You cannot beat the good old Full English for a tasty meal. Wow your subs are up to 27 already, well done Gary, top quality content as always.

Love a fried slice. I tend to build my own breakfast. Bacon, well done sausage, black pudding, grilled tomatoes, mushrooms and fried slice. Tea and toast.

They really should be giving themselves a pat on the back there serving quality food like that at such a fantastic price. The breaky you got for another Twenty Pence you could have got the builders one which included chips and your bubble. How on earth can it only be so cheap to add on chips🤷♀ fantastic place for hearty food. And another fab review mate you guys are doing a cracking job.

@brookeconroy6227 The slices in the sausage seem like a good way to make the sausage crisper, pretty cool. The beans looked like hienz too which is a nice touch - even though I feel like beans aren't needed in a fried breakfast as there's so much going on with the plate anyway

Veggie brunch (from the menu) sounds so good! Glad you enjoyed what you ordered and it seems like a good price. Great review as always. I like how you make your viewers feel like we are friends, sharing an experience.
Has to be brown sauce on a brekkie. People who choose ketchup should be separated from other eaters with a partition up.

Love your reviews Gary we have found some really nice local eateries that were featured in some of your excellent videos and wanted to say thank you for all your time and effort. That looked really nice and reminds me of a breakfast from the Sunshine Cafe in Tolworth, they do bubble although I am not sure if they do a fried slice. It was recommended to us by a friend who had been going there for years me and the mrs always enjoy the breakfasts there. Will definitely check out the Kennington Lane Cafe next time I am over that side of town.

looks pretty good to me so far after viewing for 6 mins - I like my bacon a little crispier-looking but quality of everything very high -- one learns from years of experience !

Nice to see you can still get bubble and squeak, i love it and would of opted for that also.
Sounds like some of the other offers on the menu are great to, and it may well be worth a return at a later date.

I am sure there's 100's of these cafes in London offering full English breakfast. Therefore the fact that they have you shout out about them in particular is a major endorsement for them - as well as to your ability to spot quality in a crowded market!

Been there a couple of times, as a friend of mine lives just around the corner. Always an excellent breakfast and great service. But the price is just extremely cheap to be London and the quality is very high. Glad you enjoyed it, mate! Another great review, Gary, keep up the fabulous work. I know it sounds daft but I always say the beans on a breakfast will tell you how good a cafe is. They're nobody's favourite but a good cafe will take care to cook them properly and this place definitely seemed to do so. Also a full english for less than a tenner in London is great value.

Another great review. I guess the nearest I got to that price in London was a small, but busy, cafe near Paddington Station on a visit a few months ago. £8 for a 'half' English( that was 1 egg, one sausage, no mushrooms or tomato) but the tea/coffee was extra. Puts Harrods offing to shame.

That's a banger of a breakfast. I know you like to sit down and enjoy your food, but if you have a chance, try one of the old taxi green huts for a breakfast sandwich. Pont Street Cabmens Shelter is one of the best. Just ask for a bacon sausage and egg baguette wotj a bit of tom or brown sauce. It's takeaway only. You will not be disappointed. Proper breakfast sandwich. In fact, all the green huts do a banging breakfast sandwich, but I'm biased on this particular one.👍🏻

Looked and as you commented on was a wonderful breakfast, got to admit it made me hungry, well done Gary another brilliant review, unfortunately where i live there's not many cafes doing the full English breaky, so i rely on you for my fix, thats until the weekend when i missus does one for me, cheers mate.

Evening Gary👍 that looked superb, great eggs on the fried slice, sausages and bacon of good quality, though I'm not a fan of bubble and black pudding it looked good. £10 for that is excellent value considering location. They've got one hell of a menu there and I'd like to see a roast review there if you have any plans to return. Honest review as always, cheers mate✌️🍻

English Breakfast's are nice but in Northern Ireland we have the World Famous 'Ulster Fry' Consists of 2 sausage, 2 bacon, 2 fried eggs, Soda Farls, Potato Bread and Black Pudding (optional beans and pancakes) Places to try, The Newtown Cafe Belfast, Maggie Mays Belfast, Aroma Coffee Shop Dromore, Mckees Farm Shop Newtownards, Harlem Belfast, The National Belfast, You can also get a full fry up inside a Belfast Bap from the Belfast Bap Co located at St Georges Market Belfast.....Food Heaven.
Cannot wait to try the Ulster Fry.
@@GaryEats the Ulster Fry is exclusive to Northern Ireland, If you visit the Republic of Ireland they serve a full Irish fry which is basically a full English, its the soda farls and potato bread that makes it for me.
Exceptional value for money at under ten pounds as my local farm shop café comes in at £13 and I live up north.
The £3 difference for me worth every penny though as I get a black pudding , tomatoes and mushrooms as well and then throw in the vistas across our wonderful shire and it's hard to beat.
You are indeed showing northerners though that there's still brilliant establishments to be found if you shop around , well done for being such a great Ambassador 👍

A really nice looking brekkie there, and with perfectly runny egg yolks, bonus. And a decent menu, plenty of choice. Now me, I'd have gone with the Builders brekkie, with tinned toms, and asked for a side of black pud :)

Another great review! Bubble looked delicious - it’s a shame more cafes don’t offer it. Brilliant price, especially considering the location. Hubby Joe would have liked black pudding with it but I’d be more than happy with the option of the bubble. Fried slice looked good too!

Hi Gary. Another great review, just a request, next time you review a little place like this can you order something like a roast or a homemade pie etc. These places do those types of dishes really well and you have reviewed so many breakfasts. Keep up the good work.

Quality and good value is rare now a days... A London cafe filled with workies ... Almost guarantees a good cafe... Looked fantastic... I suggest " The Corner Cafe"... Near Lambeth ( that's the station I got off anyway) another great builders cafe

Oooh, I used to go here when I lived in Vauxhall! Here and a little Portugese cafe just down from Vauxhall Bridge which did a full English but with fried potaoes that were cooked with onions and peppers. Sounds little odd but it worked well. Happy New Year from deepest darkest Dorset!

I think a lot of places replace things like a fried slice and/or bubble with hash browns which are really not part of a traditional full English. For me fried slice, bubble, black pudding are the things that elevate any breakfast. Two out of three ain't bad tho.

There's an art to eating the Full English obviously. I had it one time in London, I think at a Hotel, but I simply didn't know how to eat it all. I know that pretty much fills you up so that you can go until supper and just have tea and a snack.
