- I've returned to Hawksmoor to try out their famous breakfast fry up in London. They've recently brought it back after four years out and after many emails and requests, I decided to head down to their Air Street branch to give it a go. The steak is brilliant but does the breakfast match up? Excited for this one!

Hi all.
A couple of things. Firstly, apologies for the lighting in this video. We did try to get a better table but this is what we were given and as it was busy, we couldn't change it.
I know a couple of you want less breakfast reviews so this will be the last one for the forseeable future and I'm back on my travels this week outside of London so looking forward to it.
As always, thank you for watching.
Lighting looked fine to me Gary no worries cheers.👍🏻😁
Dim Sum is breakfast/ brunch, hopefully you will do one soon. Even in the dark, you are the best restaurant review out there bar none.
@patrickwong4824 very true, Gary certainly is..
Yes got it in the pipeline. Coming soon and thanks so much
Agree with you Gary! The portion size looked a little bit mean for £50
When it comes to breakfast my dad always said "Follow the lorry driver and not the Jaguar"
I bet he said "never trust a skinny cook" as well.
Lol that's a very clever saying Trevor
What if the lorry driver is going to France?
In my experience places that look rough as hell normally do a decent breakfast lol.
The Greasy Spoon at Balinluig on the A9 is fantastic for the price, if you are ever that far up if you go on tour
I've said it before, and I will do so again. I absolutely love Gary's approach to these videos. His authenticity shines through - no hyperbole - just an honest review without any unnecessary nonsense. You can only wish him every (and increased) success.
Thanks so much Rob
You Gary’s brother by any chance 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Hey Gary! I found you after someone on twitter said that you’re a must-watch, and that’s rang true. I love your videos because they’re always so grounded and such a treat. I work a high-stress overnight job, so watching your videos after I get off of work is a nice way to wind down. I’ve integrated “let’s give it a go!” to my default lingo with regulars. All the love, and never change. ♥️
That’s a really brilliant comment thank you so very much for watching and commenting 👍👌😀
You have to have a pot of tea with a cooked breakfast...great review Gary x
Nah, half a dozen Bloody Mary's when you're having a breakfast like that.... not Tea....😂
I completely agree
Try West Indies Porter from Guinness. It compliments a brunch, perfectly!

Even though I was a butcher for around 10 years, that's one thing I've never tried, bone marrow on toast, or on anything else for that matter, if I ever see it on a menu, I'd better give it ago! Everything looked well cooked and inviting, especially the bacon chop and those beans, cooked with a pigs trotter, that was my dear old Nan's favourite treat, gnawing on a pigs trotter for her tea, while watching the wrestling on a Saturday afternoon, lol! Another informative video Gary, and sent me down memory lane, thank you! keep'em coming!
Expensive breakfast. But as I left a comment for Gary spent $10 last month on bone marrow fancy toast. Give it a go. Lol.
smoked bone marrow on toast ... delicious.
It is very very good...I make it at home myself buy split bones soak them for a few hours or overnight to remove the blood and pop them in the oven for a few minutes and spread the marrow on toast...
Way better than butter on toast in my view
Yea that is something you don’t see everyday. Bet it taste lush
You're more than welcome Deadman. I felt it was a little pricey in all honesty but no doubt the ingredients and the bone marrow was delicious
Another excellent review Gary. No hesitance in questioning your earlier view re portion size, and always reviewing the whole experience, such as customer service and the environment. Objective reviews and informed judgements. I just love these reviews. Don't stop Gary.
Thank you very much Steve it makes doing the review worthwhile so much appreciated 👍👍
Excellent review Gary. Thank you. Blessings from Texas,USA. 👍😊❤

Please be careful with your lasagna
@@GaryEats "smart price" lasagne ain't lasagne...
Loved the review. But I think for the price there should have been two bacon chops. It wasn't large enough to share
Agreed. Just not enough there for me
for 60 quid, there should've been 6 breakies!!
@@GaryEatsthere was only one so if that wasn't enough for you are you saying there should be four of your sharing with the camera man
For the price there should have been 20 bacon chops! 😆

I wish we had found your channel back when you started it. I'm a Canadian and in London right now, have been for two weeks. We've gone to two of the restaurants you recommended and they were wonderful. We went to the restaurant you're reviewing now for dinner. Loved it.

Congratulations on 70k subscribers! 100k isn't far off. Love your reviews. Keep up the good work.
From Vancouver, Canada.
Thanks so much Blake
I think the portion size looked ok - given the size of the bacon chop compared to a couple of rashers, and the rich indulgence of the beans and bone marrow, one sausage and one piece of black pudding seems about right! I liked that there were good portions of tomato and mushroom too!
It is expensive, but given the location, the class of the restaurant and staff, and the superb quality of every component, I think it looks decent value for an occasion!
Think I'd be scoring higher than 8/10, but at least you've got me wanting to try it for myself!
Love the video as always Gary!
Thanks so much and a completely fair analysis
@@GaryEatsI've thought about this a bit more, and actually the biggest issue with the meal for me is not being able to get a good cup of Rosie Lee! Absolutely criminal! Definitely 1 point off for that, and such an easy fix!!
Can’t really verbalise why, but I just love watching your videos Gary! You’re such a top guy. Glad to see your UA-cam flying 🤘🏼
This breakfast looks great. Gonna try it myself soon :)
That’s very kind and appreciated Alex thank you
Great review Gary. Look forward to Hawksmoor rolling this out to other restaurants
Thank you Gary I think it needs more thinking about before rolling it nationwide
Gary don’t listen too the price wise moaning brigade ! You can’t do wimpy and Macdonalds reviews all the time ! This is not a social channel for the underprivileged it’s a food review channel for all , I can’t afford a twenty five pound breakfast either at the moment, but it doesn’t stop me enjoying how the other Arf live , God bless you Governor!
I understand the complaints as I personally thought this was too pricey Petrus but thank you. I try to mix the content up with all different price points to keep the content refreshing and new
I too like Gary's channel, but would welcome some type of "handcapping" so that a great value (though not perfect) hearty meal at £16 can be fairly compared to a £40 TV chef's "light bite". Then how about a running "table" showing the "runners and riders and their position? Keep up the great work.
A double jog at the start. Fabulous. Crossing the road then up the stairs. Set up for a good one
Lol might even treat you to a triple jog next time
@@GaryEats lol brilliant😂
I'm lucky enough to have Sunday Lunch at Air St once a month plus we use Wood Wharf for burgers/steaks. Both properties are stunning, Wood Wharf at night time is a bit like being in Singapore with all the chrome and glass office blocks surrounding it. You have to appreciate the cost of the rent for these places in central London so prices will be higher, if it's not for you then fair enough. The quality of the food and the ambience is excellent. Oh and thanks for visiting Rules the other day, another favourite of mine. Keep up the good work.
Thank youn Mike you understand the quality on offer 👍
Great review. A really unique take on Breakfast with quality ingredients. Thanks Gary for feeding the Cameraman 🎉
Good job that camera man didn't want to share the pork chop then
Thank you Bob, the cameraman had a feast on this one ☝️
The price is ridiculous, I don't care how amazing the food was, it's still ridiculous. I've been putting HP sauce in my gravy for years. I liked the fact the hash browns weren't triangular, so probably not from a bag of frozen from Iceland.
All of the produce was excellent there's no doubt but I agree, I expected a bigger portion and usually Hawksmoor aren't meagre with their portions
Those beans were too stodgy, for the price a bit stingy but looked mostly delicious, 8/10 I would give it, a treat once in a while innit!....
The thing is Harsh brown from frozen often are the ones the best. Some of these restaurants wanting to be more unique and make their own often fails
@@tonygoshive785 Hash?
Yes and imagine fighting over the chop! After paying so much!!
Another great review Gary. I am sure the ingredients where as good as you say and should be for the price of a breakfast, but I have to say that when I first looked at it I thought it looked drier than Gandhi’s flip flop 🤦♂️. Look forward to more Gary, all the best.
Ghandi's flip-flops are really tasty. 😂
Thanks Julian. I didn't feel any of it was dry but I was a little let down by the portion

Awesome review. No nonsense. Just a honest review focused on the food
I've come away from this video with a far more positive impression of this place than I was expecting. Yes, it's expensive - but I thought the quality of that meal looked exceptionally good, and crucially, I thought it looked like it was worth the money. When I see some of the prices you've paid for far, far worse than this, I don't have a problem with this being £50 for two. And that restaurant looks like it has a very pleasant ambience - I would love to go there. Great video as always, Gary!
Thank you that’s really appreciated and also thanks for watching and commenting
Brilliant Gary as always concise compelling delivery, as always Sir keep 'Giving it a go'

Hi Gary, wow for £50 you would have thought the presentation could have been better,😊❤ as well as the portion size, never been anywhere for breakfast where you only get one piece of everything 😮, love sourdough bread 😊 at least you had something to fill you up 😊❤ glad you feeding the cameraman more these days 😊❤ thank you for another great review 😊❤
Yes I would agree with you Trudy. Take care and thank you
I loved the breakfast experience in Hawksmoor Guildhall a good few years back and remembered it as being bigger, but perhaps it was the same - the items and presentation looked familiar. The bone marrow on toast was something special though.
Great review Gary!
Thank you I believe it is different now so you’re probably correct
I love your half a second jog to the Hawksmoor , Gary 😊
I mention the reason why on the next video Jez lol

Banging review again mate.. bone marrow looks class.
The bone marrow at Hawksmoor is beautiful!
Thank you. Yes, the bone marrow was delicious
Yes Gary for £50 pounds you should get a few more items...and it would be nice if they served tea but seeing this is Hawksmoor the quality is totally and completely off the charts...I'm just so delighted they've brought their breakfast menu back.
Great review as ever Gary....looked forward to the next one.
Spot on Stephen and thank you
Hi Gary, happy to hear you are not going to do anymore breakfasts for a while, you are the only reviewer that I still watch when they are doing breakfasts. At least this breakfast was a little different,we also have smoked pork chops,I always eat them for dinner.Bone marrow is a big thing here, most high end restaurants serve it.I think you were supposed to have champagne with your breakfast.Anyway enjoyed the review, and thank you😊

Hello Sister! Another great review from one of our two favorite UK Food Vloggers.
I never got a chance to do the Hawksmoor breakfast so was excited to see it available again - but it doesn't look quite as good as before. For the money, I want it to look great on the table.
I do love the Air Street location.

So good the burbon conflate milkshake is 😮
Well worth trying the Sunday roast next in one of them 🙌🤙
The black pudding has a perfect love heart ❤️
It was great but a little too pricey
@@GaryEatsTotally agree.
Egg colour is simply pigment added to the water in the poultry sheds. Take it from someone who supplys them.....like others you were taken in assuming the colour of the yolk means quality.
Thanks
That confirms what I thought. Those bright orange yolks always look a bit iffy
Just love Gary, he's so Alan Partridge esque, but in the best way! Addicted to these videos
I think that’s a compliment and thank you 😊
I tried the steak at Hawksmoor Manchester last week, thanks again for the video, the food was amazing.
Glad you enjoyed it!!
Quality of food looked great for a breakfast, but that’s what it was…a breakfast. I wouldn’t personally be going out my way to spend £56 on a morning meal for two
Yes Colin, I have to agree with you
Might just depend on who you were with mate
£56 quid once for a fantastic meal between 2 on a special,🤷 it not that ridiculous, a normal breakfast in london can cost 15/17 quid per person and it's nowhere near that level

Great video once again Gary though my first impression was it looked a bit dry as if it had been left under the heat lamp a while before service.
No all good on that front John just needs more working out to be good value
Hi Gary.
Another great video again buddy. The breakfast looked nice but a bit expensive for me. Portion definitely needed to be bigger for the price but it did look good quality. Black pudding will always be my favourite on a Full English. Shame there were no fried bread or tinned tomatoes but i guess they're more suited to a greasy spoon cafe or a standard pub. I always knock a bit off the score for service charges so I'm going to go with a 7.5/10.
Glad you's enjoyed buddy and thanks for the video 🙂👍

Breakfast? Interesting
Great video as always, but echo most peoples comments, £50 for breakfast for 2 is sickening. There is no way the ingerdients cost anyhwere near that, cant justify the price. Love your reviews gary, easly by far the best food reviewer on youtube.
Agreed David, too pricey. Thanks so much mate
So buy one of your hoody’s for £40 instead?
@@leekemp1398 Lee, you keep going down other comments saying the same thing. It's my opinion, you have yours. I gave it a very good score and you are still complaining about it.
Rent and energy prices are off the scale. Not sure what people expect.
@@siturl5834 whilst energy prices are high, and rent is dependant on the deal you have with the landlord (alot of commercial rents are quite reasonable, as there are more properties available than businesses wanting them), I agree those are a contributing factor to determining prices, but £50 for a breakfast for two is not reasonable and not value for money. As people have mentioned, you can do a weekly shop for that, I feed my family for a while week with fresh food (all fresh meat and veg) for less than that. For the majority of people, those prices are out of reach, but not only that, most people can't understand the justification of those prices, which seems more than a tad expensive.
I agree with your rating. I loved the Art Deco interior but the food just did not justify the price.
Agreed!
@@GaryEats -Not so sure about that. I'm a firm believer in value for money and am always prepared to pay a little bit more if necessary. Ive eaten at Hawksmore in the evenings and what an experience that was, so i'd expect the breakfast to be top quality. I would happily pay for the best, and Hawksmore's reputation is such that it would be a no brainer for me. Add to that the location just off Regent Street, the restaurant space itself, and the ambience....it was busy so obviously a lot of people quite happy to pay for quality.
@@user-ue7rn9gy7f I've had the steak at Hawksmoor and it was delicious and the breakfast was still good, I just think a tad too expensive. Others dining in the restaurant who had the breakfast also agreed
Quality over quantity- the breakfast looked amazing. I will definitely try it out on my next visit to London.
Fair enough Susan. Give it a go!
Hi there Gaz. As always top video. As I watched ,I was thinking about the pork ingredients. Another dish l enjoy cooking is a decent size pork joint. Traditionaly it's with apple sauce. But I tweak abit of the prep.I slice the joint, making downward cavities, and then I put garlic and fresh slices of Cox apples into the joint. Then in the oven for at least three hours on a low heat. The best bit is, the smell and the anticipation of getting stuck in!!!!😂😅🎉
That sounds divine Andrew wow

Now that the tourists are back in London, this is a great option for them, the Wolseley always used to be the best Breakfast in Mayfair, but since Corbin and King are no longer involved standards have dropped massively. At £25 a head for the centre of Mayfair, I think that's pretty decent value, considering the quality of the ingredients.
I've been to the Wolseley and must say, it was fantastic
@@GaryEats It used to be, but the original owners were forced out about 18 months ago and the standards have slipped massively. I used to have breakfast there regularly on a Saturday, can't go there any longer it's just not the same level of service, which for the price you expect.
Didn't know about the new owners atThe Wolseley. What a shame if standards have slipped in what used to be one of London's great restaurant institutions, especially for breakfast. :(
@@walterekurtz4320 Sadly so, Jeremy King is going to be re-opening the famous Simpson's on the Strand at some point late this year, it will be everything that the Wolseley used to be and more I suspect.
What is wrong with you people? As a child, my main meal was school lunch and something later in the day. £25 decent value my arse, Mayfair who the hell wants to live there, you do live in a bubble.

Your all heart GAZ for feeding the cameraman great video as always 👍👍
I know Alan and I’m still getting stick lol 😂
I thought you were a bit stingy today, Gary. The best bacon, the best sausage, the best black pudding, the best bone marrow, a special brown sauce gravy. and coming out not over full but comfortable in a really classy environment. C'mon my friend, it's got to be a nine, whatever your new subscribers say. It's high end, Central London, and it's there for those with money to spare. It was busy, so there's a place in the market for any couple who want to spend £56.50 on a classy breakfast. Only one thing was missing. No tea!!
The lack of tea was disappointing and I felt the portion was a little small for what you pay.
I thought the quality was excellent but just lacking in one or two other departments. I think Hawksmoor is excellent and their steaks divine but I wanted a bit more to edge it closer to 9!
Gary is winning at life. Doing well for himself and well deserved. I enjoy seeing all this expensive dining, although I'll never go myself because I'm a Yorkshireman haha.

Gary if you go to Dublin, Ireland you need to go to Gallaghers Boxty House. They make the most delicious potato pancakes with fillings of your choice like chicken and bacon, beef and lamb. Love the videos, but those watching and also Gary just need to understand that this is one of the best steakhouses in the world, the quality is in the cooking and bringing the best out of the flavours through what they source and methods/techniques the chefs use in those kitchens. It's a fine dining steak house with awards and top Ingredients hence the price. Not a spoons pushing quantity at terrible quality. Its just hard watching this one when the negative is a sausage and beans. But when eating it your amazed, that's what their aim is, and they've achieved it, price is justified👌
It’s rated number 2 Matt in the world, thank you for your understanding on this one and I’d imagine you’ve visited Hawksmoor yourself 👍

Yep. That's why I knocked a couple of points off
Looked like quality, but presentation was poor, all just dumped on top, I've never heard of Bone Marrow as food? £50 too expensive. Good review.
The bone marrow at Hawksmoor is utterly indulgent gorgeousness - when you see it it comes across as maybe a bit gross but by god it’s beautiful.

That was a very interesting review Gary. It has the feel of an alternative to a mixed grill at lunchtime rather than a breakfast and the menu time you mention appears to concur with that idea. Cannot deny that Hawksmoor know how to serve meat with quality and style. I will stick to a cafe for my full English but this was an interesting idea for a lunch.
It’s a great idea Richard but needs more thought to make it perfect
Great as always Gary. You should do a Fazenda they have ones in Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester, Birmingham, and London. Have a look. Its good but very strange. They have a central buffet. You sit down and have whats like a card thats red on one side and green on the other. Red means dont want to be served green means you do....the waiters come around with loads of freshly made different cuts of meat...sausages to steaks and if your card is green offer them at your table, and it never stops they just keep coming round....would be a very good video for you to review.
I’ll take a look James thank you
Excellent review as usual, I’ve been emailing them for 3 years to try this and look Gary’s there 😂, I know it’s pricey but it’s a bucket list must try keep going 👍🏿
Thanks Lionel. Glad you enjoyed the video
