760 WHP Porsche 997 Turbo Tiptronic by Koncept Motorwurks- One Take

- This is a prime example of how easy it is to build a drag monster out of an otherwise unloved Tiptronic Porsche Turbo. With a few key upgrades, this 997TT, which came from the factory with 480 Horsepower, now makes 760 at the WHEELS. It's a missile for sure, although the automatic transmission isn't ideal for the canyons.

Hey everyone my name is David I'm the owner of Koncept Motorwurks. I want to thank everyone for watching the video of the 997 TT we built. I am a technician not an actor and this was my first time on camera, yes I was nervous and uncomfortable due to the fact that I get a bit shy in front of an audience. Try not to judge me to harshly I work on cars and not on tv. I built this car in collaboration with Todd at protomotive for his tuning expertise. Todd was the tuner and I was the builder, so if anyone else would like to get this build done let us know. We do good work, we are honest and have a 5 star rating. We earn your trust as you can see on Yelp. I apologize for the heat soak question I did miss, I will answer now, the heat does effect power a bit but so you all know what this car did on the dyno on a 103 degree summer day was 748hp at the wheels and it was pretty consistent within 5-10hp with 4 runs. Yeah, but if you look close you can tell it's incredibly fast in person, camera doesn't do justice. It only seems underwhelming while watching because it's not loud like having an EWG etc.

Everyone needs to chill out on the passenger. He's an automotive shop owner that works on one of the best cars ever built. He's not an actor or TV personality. He's most likely driven this car and others with more power many times and doesn't really seem fazed by it. Maybe it was his first time on camera. I bet half of you would be just as nervous if not more, if you got on the show. So give the guy a break sheesh. Appreciate the car and keep the negativity to yourselves. Obviously he knows what he's doing if he built this car and others like it.

Its a complicated thing but if you really get to know how to use than its better than manual....

Leave it in Auto, and floor the throttle twice, in rapid succession. It will downshift two, go to redline on the upshifts, take off like a rocket, and scare you to death. You can throttle blip downshift the tip, once you learn, I had to change tires from 255, to 275 on my 993 narrow body Tip to keep the rear from breaking loose, doing the double throttle punch. Yes, I don’t like the buttons, and yes there is away to install paddles, but it’s pretty involved, but not as involved as your turbo mods. Good thing about the tip verses the PDK, is that it is not a sequential transmission, so you can down shift two gears at once instead of having to go thru each gear on the PDK. In the end, it’s still a torque converter trans, not like the dual clutch PDK, but once the torque converter locks, after second gear,you can outrun most 6 speed drivers. I’ve done it many times.
I didn’t expect this to be about a “talky” passenger. No apologies necessary. You did fine. I am looking at buying a 997.1 with Tip, and was therefore very interested to see how this car worked. I have a PDK Coupe, but want to buy the older version Cab. with Tip, as it is priced right, and I still think it would be a great car to gradually upgrade on a performance level. In Germany it´s very easy and common to swap the steering wheel of the 997.2 with paddles into the 997.1
But will they work?

That Porsche steering wheel is not the prettiest.
But it's SO cheap though! A lot of people cannot afford the manuals or new PDK. not bad for the car world for this to exist

Pretty sure you can swap the steering wheel from a 997.2 onto a 997.1 to give you proper paddles instead of the buttons.
you can, I purchased a heavily modified 997 last year and he did the upgrade. The paddles work really well. Thousand wheel horsepower on E85 and he changed the front and rear bumper to gt2rs spec. Also came with custom hre forged wheels weighing 16 lb a piece . She's bright red and we named her Dorothy because it's literally like driving a tornado in ruby slippers

It would be very interesting to see the dyno of the 760 claimed hp. I would hope that a shop would know the difference between Crank HP and Wheel HP.

Matt, have maybe watched all one takes but I think we have seen enough 997s and 996s. There have been roughly 30 Porsche one takes and I figure half of those to be 996s and 997s. I don't think people realize English probably isn't his first language. That plus the fact that it is a customer car, not his, probably makes him less confident in front of the camera. You can tell he isn't excited about the auto tranny either. But it's a customer car, and it's what they could schedule with Matt. If it was a manual/pdk tranny, the reactions to this video would be a lot different, but these guys deserve credit for building and tuning that engine, cause it hauls major ass.

People say every 996 and 997 turbo should be Manual, but of the line, I think auto is better, its so damn hard to launch manual. I think it's all depends what you want out of the car. sold my 996 turbo manual 2 years ago. Now i'm thinking about 997 turbo auto/ it's cheaper.

Super fast car, but it sounds like the transmission in my silverado shifts just as fast as the tiptronic box. There's a good reason why the tiptronic turbos are so much cheaper. Manual or PDK are the only 2 viable options if you actually enjoy driving.
A TCU tune makes the tiptronic much better

IMO the better production makes for a worse video, I always skip through all the beaty-shots where they all play the same, lame music. SoL is probably the best just because he doesn't try to make his video the most beautiful. STG is just annoying AF, but with beautiful shots. Tiptronic can very easily/cheaply have paddle shifters fitted and this transforms the car.
with the tiptronic, i found it easier to use the stick instead of the steering toggles.

Automatics are known to be very strong. I'm sure they can be programmedfor better shifting. There's a company PCS (powertrain control solutions) that sells standalone TCU's. I'm sure you can do something with one of those.
