Too bad he didn't use tomatoe juice cans. Then it'd be a V8, in line 3 cyl. All sorts of confusion

@@Phantom-lb7mu I noticed that long stem extension of the crank wasn't on camera. Was someone grasping the turning shaft in their fingers? Is that why it kept slowing down? These Stirling engines have 'no' power, so I bet my guess is close!

But how do you harness energy from it
My car's engine sounded just like that shortly before it self destructed.
Thank you for the nice comments. Yes stirling engines are very cool indeed:) this one was destroying the displacer pistons as it ran which is why it speeds up and slows down. Probably why it may to some look like it’s fake. Really no need to fake a Stirling engine video as pop can stirling engines are actually quite easy to get running. Reliability is the main issue. Currently working on a V12 version using the same type of beer cans:)
Phantom 1080 if you can reinforce the rod holding the flywheel and make the flywheel run true, it will run more efficiently and break down less
Same, the fly wheel needs to be balanced. It would run better for a longer period of time

With 6 cans, would it be a V6 engine or a Sixpack engine?
Good question lol. Thank you for watching this video I am glad you enjoyed it. Please subscribe to my channel, watch my other video and watch this space for more videos to come!
Six pack is the number of carburetor barrels on a mopar engine. Not cylinders. So v6.
More like an inline or strait 6 cylindar engine. With the V designation for an engine, the cylinders and pistons are aligned, in two separate planes or 'banks', so that they appear as a "V"
Keith Reynolds yes but six pack isn’t an engine layout just number of carbs
6 pack does refer to the number of barrels in a carburator. Nonapplicable with stirling engines. :D

Yes because humans lived in caves WAY BACK THEN.

Stirling invented his first heat engine in 1816, over 200 years ago. So building one of these 150 years ago would have been no big deal.

Imagine if the wheel was perfectly round.. And the "armature" was straight.. It would run very smooth.
No one of the people who commented realize it's not regular engine. It's Stirling engine operated by the temperature difference and not by internal combustion. This was my graduation project from university!
Could you explain why the speed was fluctuating? I'm guessing it had something to do with the temperature rising as it warmed up?
@@Kitteh.B That engine is based on dt (temperature difference). The higher the difference the higher the power. Power is the product of torque and rotational speed. The speed fluctuation was because the temperature is not fully distributed yet on the hot cylinder, it's like the engine is warming so it's not producing it's full power

Ingenious...great idea for a power free fan.
Stirling engines that operate at atmospheric pressure with air as the working gas are cool toys but not practical for doing serious work. Folks wanting to scale this up for a car don't realize how BIG and how inefficient such an engine would be. You need high pressure and a high temperature differential with helium as the gas to get these engines to be able to handle real work.
