Not always it depends on the maintenance of the car including oil changes that is critical too the solenoids working properly and having no issues. What causes them to fail is metal fragments getting into the oil passages from rod bearings failing and lack of oil changes or using the wrong weight oil
No there is no cheap way around it. If they are f**ked like this it means buying new genuine BMW ones. This is not a type of job you want to do twice so do NOT use the cheap Chinese junk. Get yourself trade account get them cheap at BMW very simple.

Nothing special about them 🙄 just the price they charge but to be fair bro £450 for all 4 from BMW I think was so worth it and not expensive at all. What happened to all these guys telling me I was wrong and they was like £800 each ? These people are smoking something. Even on eBay you can choose to buy used ones for £200 which I wouldn’t do, as you know me bro I like my cars running perfect and everything new from BMW
Too many 😅 rough idle , loss of torque in the mid range , rough running constantly where the vanos gear can’t find its position correctly causing a high idle , more MPG
Yep I just did I got all 4 for £450 on my trade account, So I can safely say I ain't complaining that is CHEAP especially for the M5. I was literally in shock. After ringing back up apparently the guy had quoted me for a vanos gear on each 😂 that’s why they said £800 I thought something was very very wrong there, I mean £800 for 4 solenoids ? I mean come on 🤣 But I was surprised that these have been superseded 3 times in their life, and many people ain't even aware they are driving there cars around like this. My friend in Munich told me this was the most cause for vanos rattle was the solenoid shaft rattling, And I now see why I just bought them now so I have all 4 now thankfully 🙏
I have codes p0012 abd p0015 is that for venos solenoids?
is the procedure similar for the S65?
Hi! On what engine has to be changed these solenoids? TNX
Can the ICV valve cause limp mode on a BMW m3 e92?
How many variants of VANOS solenoid are there?
What is the solenoid used for?
If you have the grey/silver ones..do you mean that one can feel more secure then?

Hi Doctor. I don’t know if I’m thick or something but, can they be dismantled and re- bushed as it’s surprising what can be done.

@@BMWDoctor Alright that explains everything then, I'll use a VPN. Thanks for the advice and the quality content, keep up !!
Doc, are these solenoids engineered to justify the price BMW is charging? Anything special about them mechanically?
They're made of unobtanium and pixie dust 😉

What motor is this on?
If this is the n62 out of my 550i, it took me about an hour to take them out, granted my bolts were in good condition and my bay was way cleaner
He's working on an S85 in an e60 M5.

What kind of tell tales are there for failing solenoids?
Too many 😅 rough idle , loss of torque in the mid range , rough running constantly where the vanos gear can’t find its position correctly causing a high idle , more MPG
@@BMWDoctor Can you hear like a fast pace rattle aswell? As this is what im experiencing
How many miles did your M5 have when you got it?
@@BMWDoctor did you get any noises before hand?
I bought a set of 4 from BMW Ruxley for around £600 last year might be worth a phone call.
