I have the EXACT same problem/simptoms with my 2008 318i, N46, automatic gearbox. The mechanic said he needs to change the vanos solenoids, new O rings. But after changing it, the car was shaking, the engine died at low revs. So now I have it in the garage to change the whole distribution kit, realign the chain, for big money of course. I will tell him to check the valves for sure. Thank you for being here for us!👍👍👍🔝🔝🔝
I bought the Chinese ones, but they came with small o rings that I used to replace the old larger ones that. one was leaking, but of coarse I still have the provblem. Now I just have to find the thicker orings again. I wish a Dealer/parts source for oem was cloiser to me, but I can order them I guess. Luckly I kept the old vanos solinoids but they look Chinese to me too, go figure. I may go to the salvage yard and try to find some oem vanos. I guess I could get generic, oil safe o rings that look nice. Thanks for bringing this up tho.

Totally agree with how easy it is to mix up them Vanos solenoid connectors. I did it upon replacing the solenoids (Genuine of course) on my N54, even after taking pre-install photos! At least on a straight 6 you know instantly upon start-up that the engine is woefully unhappy. I don't envy S85 owners on this job. Wow!

You know me, I ain’t one to long wind something I ain’t going to show you how to remove all 4 solenoids the same way from watching how I remove one of two you get the drift 👌 Want to keep it short and simple but we have a problem with the solenoids alot of people don’t even check as they can’t remove them. I actually found out when I removed it and I’m not happy at all ! I have had to wait to do the video now as what turned into a simple cheap job has become expensive because the older solenoids are not repairable and are fully f**ked

Hi mate I got a bmw 330 td to which is on stage 1 at the moment. The car was blowing white/blue smoke at first start or when been standing for a while with the idling was up and down and engine juddering, I had all the injectors changed but still blowing white/blue smoke at first start but give it a good rev it goes. Any idea why it's doing that?
I would suggest to scan your car with Ista and see if there is any faults regarding the glow plugs,and are you sure that the injectors that you put in were tested and are good?

i had a headgaskjet change on my bmw e46 last month its a e46 2005 n46b20 engine and since i picked it up the engine behavior is weird when the car warms up after 25KM drive i stop at a shop to get some food and when i try to start it after it warmed up it does start for a fraction of a second and then dies right away... ?? sometimes twice in a row.
rough idle (500rpm differences) on cold engine. M57N BMW X3 E83. When its hot it runs very fine. water pump makes a lil bit noise when cold but is alright when its hot. What causes this idle differences at cold engine? i have changed glow plugs and module. vacuume leak?
Have your injectors tested by someone who has a professional testing stand, and for the waterpump noise it's likely to be your alternator belt which drives the water pump as well, and do you have any glow plug faults? Because if you haven't checked or replaced the positive cable going from the alternator to the glow plug module it could have fried your new module

K+dcan cable... switch is used to bridge 7 & 8 pin for older vehicles I believe its like 2006 and down... 2007 and up need pin 7 & 8 separate.. so for your car, you would need a cable that can bridge 7 & 8 pin.. but even if you get the one with the switch you can always add ur own switch to bridge the pins. Thats what I did to mine...
E53 x5 4.4. Is there anything i can do to make it better. 2006. Anything aftermarket. Live on the northern Canada. Trans goes onto safety mode first start in the morning. Shut it off for 5 minutes and start back up and its fine.

Yea if you wait for them to go it’s even more money because other modules willl fail 2012 with 84k this is a good time to refresh those modules, bmw peak for failures are at 100k mileage, I would change out the transmission fluid too, if it hasn’t been done yet

Hi Dean. Just a suggestion. A laser pointer could be a real plus in your videos for pointing at stuff and then the camera shouldn't lose focus. All the best.
If I use that I will probably get in trouble from UA-cam 😂 I’m sure there classes a weapon now with UA-cam, so I don’t want to even risk using something like that. I do try my best to show it at all times, just it can be hard to keep the camera tracking stable.

Took my E64 6-series to BMW for a oil gasket change and they handed it back scratched up and now my engine has a ticking noise that was NEVER there, what should they be looking for? I don’t want my car back with ANY noise when it’s being service by so-call “ CERTIFIED” BMW mechanics. I don’t trust them! Fraudulent repairs is how BMW dealers make most of their money.

what are some signs of a bad fuel pump on the n52?
