I just got this tent a few days ago. The absolute best backpacking tent for that kind of budget ( was on sale 130 shipped). It has much space and super easy to pitch ( I'm 5'10 and could fully extend my arm while laying down without touching the head or foot end. My was 890 grams on the scale, I replaced some of the guy lines and elastic for lighter ones and brought it down to 870 grams. Seamed sealed using the included syringe was much easier, the fabric is extremely slick that silicon has trouble sticking to after it dries so you really have to stretch the seams apart as far as possible while seam sealing so that the thread would get exposed and absorb the sealant. I found out that after doing that you can basically peel the silicon along the seam off if it doesn't stick to the fabric, the sealant has already been absorbed by the threads and plugged all of the needle holes :). I tested by holding some water along a seam that has been sealed but silicon peeled off and no water went through, and that's with water pushing its weight down the seam and sits there. So water drop from rain would have no chance of leaking through. Highly recommended this tent ( for the price there is none out here that has that much space and weighs only 2lbs)
Hanson H, Hi, I weighed included stuff sack, tent pegs, everything that came with it. Did you use special silicone sealant? There are 2 links in my description. Other seam seams will just peel off as you described. I bought my tent in January, no syringe included. @@JustinWhiting9 hi, 870g is the tent by itself, I have some stakes that are 7 grams each so I won't be using the included stakes. I used Gear aid Seam Grip to seam seal my tent, I don't think anything would matter because due to the nature of the fabric nothing could stick to it when you pull on the fabric. That's why it's important when you seal the tent you pull the seam apart as much as possible so that the thread is exposed a little bit and absorb the sillcon ( thread is a mixed of polyester and cotton and cotton is super absorbent that's why we have leaks when it rain). But seam sealing help coating those thread holes with sillcon so it can't do that) don't worry if the silicon that you apply along the seam peels off. It has already worked it's magic into those needle holes :). So you could try to test it first to see if you get any leak. Next time you could be messy as you want as long as you get all of those holes covered with the sealant, once it's dried you can just peel them all off making it look super clean but fully sealed :) hope it helps

If an AliExpress store commits to over a minimum quantity they can custom brand the product with their own name and logo. So 3F UL and Flame’s Creed are indeed the exact same Tents.

You’ve got a Duplex? Cool! Which colour? I want to do a specific mod to my Lanshan, maybe you could help me. Inside the side walls there is a vertical elastic cord about 30cm long between the mesh and the anchor point above at both ends of the tent. Missing on the Lanshan. I’ve seen vids of this allowing trickles of water to travel across the mesh and into the bathtub. That must be the reason for the Zpacks ‘cord’. I want to stitch them to my Lanshan as an upgrade. Would you mind telling me the length and diameter of that cord please? Is it a strong elastic or quite weak elastic? Cheers! 😀

Hi Justin, how has the seam seal held up? I purchased the Lanshan 2 pro and have seam sealed it but not tested it yet. A bit paranoid it’s just going to leak 😅
Hi Ryan, I seam sealed it 4 years ago. This video showed me using a brush which was rubbish. Shortly after that I did another video with a syringe, which was much better, neater and got deeper into the seams. Link... ua-cam.com/video/VkqHUlIg_VY/v-deo.htmlsi=zumb8Zrb4SRGy3DL Not a single leak (about 30 camps). The Gear Aid 'SEAM GRIP +SIL' that I used was definitely worth it. Even today the silicone is still flexible, rubbery to touch, not cracked or peeling at all. It's been better than I expected.
@@JustinWhiting9 thanks Justin. That fills me with some confidence. I made sure to open up the seams to get the seam seal deep in. Was just a bit worried as I didn’t know what it should look like. But it sounds it’s the same as yours, rubbery to touch. Thanks again
Is it your first 3F UL Gear tent? I am curious if there is much difference between the older 1 sided silnylon fabric and the newer double side silnylon. can you feel on your tent, that the silnylon is on both sides? it will be interesting how good the one layer tent will work with condensation and rain. if condensation drops run down to the net and hopefully do not run further into the bathtube. ...and how much condensation will drop onto your equipment if the wind shakes the tent a little bit. I have a single person one layer tent from 3F and it is fine. but condensation and a wet flysheet can sometimes be a hassle. Drying if the flysheet is not that easy if you have the whole tent in one piece. please share your experiences after some using of the Lanshan 2 Pro. I am very interested in that tent too.
Hi Michael, Thanks for your comment man! This is my first 3F tent so I can’t answer your questions but I am just as interested in those points as you are. I plan a modification to the bathtub floor soon which will help droplets go through the mesh rather than into the bathtub. Also, planning a long distance walk in Scotland soon where it will surely rain and test the Lanshan 2 Pro very well. Subscribe! Cheers, Justin 🍺
What height do you set your poles at? I'm thinking of getting some non-trekking for when I don't use my sticks. And what tricks & tips do you have for a taught pitch?
Hi, I like your thumbnail pic man! I set my pole to 120 cm (47.25”) but you can go a little higher or lower to suit ground, wind, temp, humidity, etc. I found it possible to raise or lower the poles even after setting up the tent. No need to start all over again. To raise, just go round and slacken the guy lines, then go inside, raise you pole carefully, lock off, then tighten the guy lines again. Non-trekking poles are normally fixed length so you might lose this possibility unless you can find adjustable ones. Sequence is pretty simple. Four corners first (not too tight), then 1 pole and peg out door, then the other pole and door. It should stay up then. Then go around adjust each line to suit. The trickiest bits are the 2 anchor points pulling out the side walls. You can see I had a few goes in my vid. The peg position in the ground closer or further from the tent makes the biggest difference, plus the guy lengths for the bottom and top halves. Just have a play with it. The fabric also goes saggy and wrinkly with moisture, but taught in warm sunshine. You can also see that on my vid. Finally, you can try out different knot positions on each of the guy lines to suit the way you like it. I chose a sunny day with no other time pressures and really enjoyed myself! Good luck. Subscribe too chap! Justin.
Nice one DK! 👍 Let me know how you get on with those carbon poles. I would also do a few test pitches with your trekking poles first, just to make sure you are happy with their length. Cheers 🍻 ⛺️
Hi Justin, I been looking to get a 3F UL tent and loved the video. Lots of great info. on the new Pro version :) One thing I'd like to know is is are the inner and outer parts of the tent are separate as I'd like to use the outer on it's own sometimes for ultra-ultralight camping? Thanks - Jason
Thanks Jason! 👍 The older Lanshan 2 is a double skin tent as you described. You can use just the inner, just the outer, or both together. I think you can also buy a warmer replacement inner skin for 4-season usage. My Lanshan 2 Pro is a single skin only and about 30cm longer. I’m 6’1” so I wanted that. The whole thing is together in one-piece. By the way, I’ve done 3 videos recently which you might find useful and interesting. Check them out on my channel page. Subscribe too sir! 🤙 ⛺️ ☀️
@@JustinWhiting9 Hi Justin, I've watched all your Lanshan videos as they helped me make a decision on which one to get so a big thank you for helping me. As I'm only 5'10" I don't really need the extra head space of the new Pro version although the reinforcements and seamless line does look good. I've actually gone for a Lanshan 2 (not pro) with a 4 season inner as I'd like to have the ability to just take the outer sometimes and as I live in the UK I reckon it'll be warmer. Keep the great video coming and thanks for the reply.
Thanks Jason! 👍 I’d say that’s a good decision. Also, I’m not certain but I believe there is no need to seam seal the original Lanshan 2 like I sealed the Pro version. I think yours will be single-sided silnylon material and so the inner side is taped sealed in the factory. Let me know when you get it, and If you make a video drop me a link. Cheers man, Justin 👍 ⛺️ 🍺
Justin Thanks for the good advice! Have bought a new tent and want to secure it better against rain. Justin will it be enough to seal the seams on the inside of the tent?
Hi Erik, have you bought a Lanshan 2 Pro or a different tent? Are you worried about making the seam sealing look good and neat or not? If not, the easiest way is to use the tube with brush attached and roughly apply sealant. It looks messy but it works. Maybe that is why you want to do the inside only... If so, then choose the correct type of sealant and turn the tent inside out. Then it makes it much easier. Make sure, double sure, TRIPLE SURE! the sealant is totally dry before you pack the tent away. Otherwise you will ruin it! Hope that helps! 👍 ⛺️ Justin
Tak for hurtigt svar! J bor i Danmark.
Hi Erik, there are links in the description to 2 types of silicone sealant for my Lanshan 2 Pro which is a silnylon (siliconised nylon) tent. Your tent might be a different material and require a different sealant. It might even already have taped seams from the factory. I don’t know it. The best thing for you is to find videos specifically about sealing your Naturehike Mongar tent. Maybe you don’t need to do it. Maybe you can do it as extra water protection, as you said. Watch a few of those videos to find good suggestions before you buy something. Good luck! 👍 Justin
Update. The tent must be good enough. Have checked the inside off the tent and can clearly see where the clear seal starts and ends about 7 mm on each side of the seams. Must consider whether the extra seal is necessary.
Nice looking tent Justin and I guess condensation shouldn't be a problem even though it's single skin as it looks like it's got plenty of ventilation. So are you making the move from hostel type accommodation to camping? Btw I watched the first part of your Skye trail trip - great photography. I was surprised when you said it had taken about 24 hours to get to the start. Where did you travel from? Once you've finished the trail I guess you use public transport to get back to your car? Cheers Mike
Thanks Mike 👍 I still like hostels but want the freedom of wild camping on my next long distance walk. I live in Wolverhampton so about 10 hrs to FW, sleep, then another 4-5 to the north tip of Skye. I wasn’t rushing. The buses on Skye are pretty good. You should watch the rest of my Skye Trail vids to find out how I did it all and the mountains were awesome! LOL 👌 Cheers, Justin.
I recently got one not yet using. Could I ask after completely installation whether we take trekking pole out from the Lanshan 2 pro for hiking during the day?
Hi, the tent needs the poles. If you take the poles out you can still leave the guy lines pegged to the ground if you want to. The material will be loose though and could get damaged. It’s easy to do. Maybe you would like to see my other videos on the Lanshan 2 Pro and also wild camping in it. Lots of videos, see my channel! Thank you, Justin 👍
Hi Jordan, It's because the L1pro and L2pro use double-sided silnylon fabric which cannot be tape-sealed. A silicone-based sealant must be applied with the tent fully pitched. Then you have to wait 12+ hours for it to dry. That's why they don't do it in the factory. Imagine the time, space and labour needed to do that in production... I've camped in mine about 15 times without any leaks so far. 👍 Justin.
Thank you Justin. Does it have to stay up to dry 12+ hours? As not many sunny days here 😂 Honestly driving me mad what is best to get! Lol I need a tent, 2man at most, but lightweight and pack small! This is only one that suits my need.... but.... if I’m camping in January is it going to be too cold?
The longer you leave the sealant to dry the better. You don’t want to pack the tent up before it’s dry. It would be a right mess. Doesn’t matter if it rains on the tent in the meantime. Rain dries really quick on this tent. Regarding, cold, wind, sub-zero camping, see my other videos on this tent. I’ve done about 6 😂
😆 well I’ll definitely look at the other videos! I literally have the lanshan pro 2 in my basket from an online store in the States... didn’t want to buy one of eBay as could get anything 😆 It looks perfect for what I need tho
Hi, if you are using it in light rain it will keep the rain off. However, prolonged heavy rain will eventually leak through the seams. Many silnylon tents use single-sided siliconised material (for the outside). The inside surfaces are just nylon and can be tape sealed in the factory. The Lanshan 2 Pro uses double-sided silnylon material and tape does not stick to it. Even gorilla tape does not stick (I did a little test). Therefore, this tent cannot be tape sealed in the factory. I have done a second video on seam sealing this tent using a syringe. Much easier and neater with better penetration down into the stitched seam itself. Take a look at those. 👍 Cheers, Justin.
Yes if you are a member of Costco they have a great set of Cascade Mountain carbon fiber adjustable trekking poles, around $30 with very good reviews. They are also available on Amazon for slightly more.
The Trekology poles are great for the price, but weigh 270g each. If you're happy paying a bit more, Ultralightoutdoorgear do some for £60 that weigh 170g each.
Thanks Josh! Not tested it yet due to Covid. Also, not much rain in England this spring....VERY unusual, ha ha! The key seems to be keeping the doors open to avoid condensation. At the very least, I will kip in the back garden and test it with a watering can! I’m doing a mod/upgrade to it too, will upload that vid soon. Cheers! 🍺🥾🏔
Last night was my third night in the tent. We had 2.2 mm off rain and it just dripped right through the cloth on my face and sleeping bag. It is not waterproof at all (except for the seams, those are waterproof because I sealed them). My first two nights I did not have rain, but condensation was an issue. If you're using this tent outside of the US (where the air is quite dry), I recommend the double walled version.
That’s bad luck Lisa. Maybe there was a stitching fault or a small puncture hole in the fly sheet. If so, take pictures and complain for a refund. Justin.
This tent is looking to be one I may have to try out for my self seen so many wild campers using this tent now whether it be on high ground or down low, and coastal camps and it performs extremely well and added bonus its Ultra lightweight, another Cracking video I have just Subscribed, Keep Safe and Well, Les.

Link...

Not a single leak (about 30 camps).
@Ryanhoutdoors Watch my HEAVY RAIN TEST video. You’ll feel a bit better 👍

Justin.
@@JustinWhiting9 ok, I'll get some carbon fibre 125cm poles, they're on AliE okay. And now I'm subbed!
Nice one DK! 👍 Let me know how you get on with those carbon poles. I would also do a few test pitches with your trekking poles first, just to make sure you are happy with their length. Cheers 🍻 ⛺️
What's the best height for the tent pole on this model it states 120cm on the floor plan drawings
I set it at about 115-120cm but you can adjust it to suit ground and airflow as required.
I have the reg Lanshan 2. Nice work! Subbed!
Cheers man! I’ve done quite a few videos on the L2pro tent now including rain, wind and snow tests. So far so good. 👍 Justin
Good luck! 👍 Justin
Thank you so much Justin I want to find out something.
How come it doesn’t come sealed? Just curious to know the answer 😅😅
As not many sunny days here 😂
Honestly driving me mad what is best to get!
I literally have the lanshan pro 2 in my basket from an online store in the States... didn’t want to buy one of eBay as could get anything 😆
It looks perfect for what I need tho
Nice tent and video! Ordered one as well. Does anyone know why tents aren’t seam sealed from the factory? Is it absolutely necessary? Thanks
Justin Whiting thanks for that quick answer. I’ll have a look at your other videos as well. Happy hiking!
Thanks! 👍 Good luck
Got any suggestions for decent cheap trekking poles ?
Hi, not really, sorry. I’m looking for some myself actually.... the choice seems endless but can’t seem to find what I’m after...
Yes if you are a member of Costco they have a great set of Cascade Mountain carbon fiber adjustable trekking poles, around $30 with very good reviews. They are also available on Amazon for slightly more.
Go outdoors 5 pounds per pole and seem decent
The Trekology poles are great for the price, but weigh 270g each. If you're happy paying a bit more, Ultralightoutdoorgear do some for £60 that weigh 170g each.
Great video! Have you been able to take it out in the rain? Curious how it performs condensation wise considering it's a 1 layer tent.
Justin.
Thanks for video. My tent is on the way. Same green.
Nice one Joshua 👍 Thanks! Justin ⛺️ 🥾 🏔
What hight do u set poles
118 - 120 cm depending on ground and weather.
Excellent video. A good investment for your walking trip to Scotland, whenever you are able to partake in that.
Thanks Jase. Itching to get out hiking.... 🥾
Thanks 😎😎😎
😊
This tent is looking to be one I may have to try out for my self seen so many wild campers using this tent now whether it be on high ground or down low, and coastal camps and it performs extremely well and added bonus its Ultra lightweight, another Cracking video I have just Subscribed, Keep Safe and Well, Les.
Thanks Les 🤙 I have done 4 videos on this tent, plus some wild camping vids in Scotland. Another one in the Lakes to come soon. Hope you can watch those. There are also lots of useful tips and questions in the comments sections. 👌 ⛺️
I think this tent is a good test to see if you want a duplex, have you been out in it yet bro?
Ha ha! 👍 Of course I want a Duplex! What we want and what we need are often different though, eh? Hoping to give it a road test soon and film it too. Your accent sounds like West Midlands, am I right?
Justin Whiting Lol yeah brummie... yeah a cammo duplex would be mint watched so many vids.. but for £600+ I could get my telemark2 and one of them lanshan pros? “Arh tent dreams” 8)
I’m in Wolverhampton, not many of us on here! Welcome to me Yam-Tube bab . . . Subscribe too! Cheers, Justin 😁 👍
Justin Whiting noice wun Bab!
Did you order it on AliExpress or something else? How long to receive it?
Hi, yes Aliexpress in January. It took about 4 weeks to arrive over the CNY, so 2-3 weeks normally I guess.
Great video and channel. Well done in your review/seam sealing. I like that tent. Subscribed to the channel. Crow✌️
Thanks Crow! New gear vid and hiking vids coming soon! Justin 🤙 🏔 🥾
Hey Justin,
Thanks for the amazing video. I am thinking of buying this tent. I am 1,97 m I Beleive that is 6ft 5,55( this is what google says:6,46325459 feet (6 feet 59⁄16 inches)). do you think is will fit in this tent?
thanks in advance!
Thanks Jaimy, you are a big lad! Well, I’m 6’1” (1.85m) so you are about 12cm (4”) taller than me. I can’t say for sure the tent is ok for you, but at least you can watch my video closely to compare me inside the tent. You can also lie diagonally in the Lanshan 2 which gives more length. Thanks for subbing too man! 🤘🥾 ⛺️
@@JustinWhiting9 Thanks for your quick response! haha I am big indeed, It's a blessing but a burden as well. I have the feeling that I wouldn't fit. I am still thinking about lying diagonally, the diagonal of the tent is 259 but i will lay in the corners so it's not really 259. it's a risk I guess. offcourse I am looking forward to more of your videos!
Thanks Jaimy! 👍 You could buy a Lanshan 2 Pro as cheap as possible on Aliexpress, and if it’s not big enough, sell it on eBay. Offer a quick delivery and someone in your country will definitely buy it. Are you from Netherlands? I have happy memories of Utrecht, Maastricht, Eindhoven and Amsterdam. 👍
@@JustinWhiting9 thanks Justin, I have taken everything into account and did some more research aswell and came to the conclusion that this was not going to fit. Little example: the zpacks altaplex is same length but higher so the walls are steeper and that goes to roughly 6 5.
Sooo I have ordered the naturehike star river 2. Haven't used it yet but it fits.
Thanks again.
P.s.
I found a flames creed one person tent which is 220 long. Its on my whish list.
Jaimy Voormolen Nice one! 👍 Good luck!
You seam seal a tent flysheet inside out
Hi! This a double-sided sil-nylon fabric. Manufacturer 3F recommends seam sealing exactly as I showed in the vid. I also sealed the inside of the anchor points and a few other areas to be on the safe side though. 👍
Great video very well made 👍
Thanks James! 👍 I’ve done 2 others recently about the same tent plus loads of hikes. Hoping to get out again soon. Cheers, Justin 🥾 🏔 🍺
@@JustinWhiting9 thanks mate il definitely be checking them videos out . great help for thinking about this tent
Ps like your budget kit!
Everybody loves a bargain!
get to the range and buy a better brush!!
Ha ha! 😀 Very good point Daniel! It did look crappy but worked ok. However, you will be pleased to know I did sort this out in a new video . . . In fact I used a syringe. . ua-cam.com/video/VkqHUlIg_VY/v-deo.html
