One of the few videos I've watched all the way through without stopping! I really enjoyed the way you explained everything, easy to watch! Much appreciated 👍
Correction… in STRONG WIND doors facing the wind is the best option even if it makes no sense but tent is more stable than facing the large surface of the sides that act as a huge sail into the wind it becomes very unstable
thanks for the feedback, ive gone back and forth on this since making this video and im not happy with either way, i find doors into the wind you are living in a balloon, inflated and blowing around and walls to wind you are in a sail. while the tent is strong i cant stand the door to wind in terms of being in it.I still think its stronger with the walls to the wind though, it might feel less stable. im open to being wrong though.
Excellent review, ive been toying with the idea of buying this tent for my attempt at the Great Glen Way in 6 weeks time and this review has sealed it for me. Great explanation of the seam sealant application which was something that had been concerning to me, but hearing your explanation its really not something to be worried about. Just purchased this tent after this review. Thanks mate, appreciate you taking the time to do this.
Hi Jonny this is great to hear, thanks for your comments, I think you will be happy with the tent its ideal for what you are planning. I hope you enjoy the great glen way! test your seam sealing if you can before you go to make sure its done well all over and re-do any areas that leak, leaving it out in the rain in a garden is ideal as you can see where the water is pooling in rain. we are having enough rain now for you to test it im sure!
i think its good for reducing draft overall, i wouldnt personally ever use this tent in the cold months though such as november to april, it suffers condesation a bit more perhaps but i hate drafts, id use the 3 season too though but you are more limited with temperature, well depends on your tolerance for drafts. if you didnt get on with the 3 season i expect the 4 wont be miles different though.
Does anyone know if you can buy the 4 season inner and the 3 season inner so they both fit the outer fly of the Lanshsan Pro? or do you have to buy two tents? One for winter and summer? Thank you Robin
Robin, the pro has no real inner as such, its single skin other than the inner doors but there is nothing removable, you need to the non pro version if you want a full inner tent and then can buy the summer and winter versions and switch them out, the pro version only has material doors but the other walls are the outer walls and so is considered single skin.
I was thinking of putting some extra guyline loop's half way along the bottom of the doors to stop some of the wind flapping, do you think it would help.
@@HikingWithMartin My wife is a seamstress and has industrial and domestic sewing machines and has made a lot of improvement ito my gear over the years, I have found that if you tie a short thinish elastic loop on to the tent loop and then guy line of from the elastic loop you will find that it takes the snap out of the tent flapping, it's to do with kenetic energy I have the lanshan tent but haven't used it yet so far we have added an extra guying loop at the foot and head end of the hem ours didn't have them on. Thanks for the reply John
@@johnmccarthy2179 well if your wife can do this easily then that sounds ideal, once you have done this and you get a chance to test it would be interesting if you reply back here with an update John. It sounds interesting, Its these kinds of mods i think the manufacturer will be interested in for version 3. Its nice also to see a tent design evolve with versions 1,2,3 etc that doesnt often happen. Let me know how you get on.
@@HikingWithMartin we are going backpacking at the end of September so I will let you know, we have had the tent over a year but covid screwed everything up, I will get some reinforced patches put on by the pole area as that looks a possible weak point and our model don't have them
I bought the Naturehike Cloud-Up 2 Person about a month ago -- but after seeing yours and a couple of other videos on the 3F UL Gear Lanshan 2pro I'm regretting my decision -- the Lanshan is MUCH lighter and smaller for about the same price I wish I had waited and spent more time researching tents LOL
I wouldn’t worry about it so much, I know some people that have the cloud up and really like it. You can always buy more tents, over time we often end up with a few🙈 too many even
I agree that you are getting a lot for your money but not for me - my preference is my Soulo, Niak, or Nallo - prepared to carry extra weight for extra comfort but as you say personal preference.
Hi Phil, yes I think they are better to be in mostly, I have 4 Hillebergs 🙈 but this is for low land trails like the South Downs way and similar routes where mileage is higher. If I could only have one tent it would be my soulo!

One of the best and most informative gear reviews I’ve seen really great stuff definitely subscribing 👍
Hi James, thanks for that, thats very kind of you!
Also thanks for your previous video comparing nylon types. It was the best I have seen on a technical comparison
Glad you liked it, i was hesitant to make that video as I thought it would be too boring but its been pretty well recieved!
Thanks for the vid! waiting for my own khaki one to arrive in the mail, bought it locally in Sweden.
I am with you on just velcroing. Thanks for this vid
I think its the best way really unless the wind is really high and hitting from the side i suppose!

Straight to the point, no nonsense video. Always good to watch👍
Thanks Paul! Glad you liked it.
Hi really good video, did you have to also purchase the footprint?
Hi Don thanks I didn’t get the footprint the groundsheet is sewn in though
G'day Martin.
Very informative, thank you for sharing.
All the best
Clive
Thanks! glad it was useful
Wonderful..going to purchase..
Thanks Gareth!
what kind of tent would u recomend for 4 season use within 200gbp range? for colder n windier times and possible snow.
I’d have a serious look at the Helm compact 2.
what do you think to the one with the solid inner> the 4 seasons you have? I thought about getting it I used to have the 3 seasons

I think it will help John but I’m not sure it’s worth the effort unless it’s easy for you to do, it will always be a flappy tent I think.
