    I have driven mine for 2000 miles now and honestly I love everything about it. I am considering changing the steering wheel to the alcantara one as wheel. But indeed I do love my stock shifter.

      Have you ever owned an Alcantara steering wheel? I'm more than happy they have leather again. The alcantara gets disgusting from your hand oils. Gets all matted down and gnarly. And it's pain in the ass to clean. I'm very happy I don't have to brush my steering wheels multiple times a week

    I just sat in one yesterday here in Doral, FL. It was pretty nice. "Only," a $5k mark-up on the 2 they had, but $63k out the door is crazy to me.

    When Jay Leno drove the Type S on his show, he kept saying, “This reminds me of my NSX.” Savagegeese say the gearbox is on par with the 911. I think what Acura have made is a 4 cylinder Super Car.

    • @LateNightDateNight
      @LateNightDateNight Рік тому +83

      I think that’s a bit much lol. Reported cabin rattles after a few thousand miles, 0-60 times around 5.5-6 seconds, a lack of amenities you’d expect from the price point.. there isn’t much in the realm of super here. Honda has a great gear box, and every Honda has a Honda feel but as a multiple time Porsche and Honda owner, no way in hell is this anything to break the bank on.

      For that guy to say Acura has made a super car is the dumbest thing I’ve heard in a long time.

    The trunk button isn’t a trunk release button but a trunk unlock button. It’s there so you can access the trunk without having to unlock the entire vehicle. And once it’s closed it is automatically locked again.

    You just earned a new subscriber. I’ve been waffling back and forth on a few cars including the CTR, GR Corolla,the TYPE-S and a short list of others. The fact this car is 100% American is all I need to hear. We are living in challenging times and I have to support what’s best for the current, and future state of my family. Means more now than ever in my lifetime… TYPE-S all the way now

    I drove a 1997 Acura Integra GSR for 17+ years. Great handling car with the double wishbone suspension. Light enough to dance thru any S curves at speed feeling like it was on rails even though its FWD. Acura really did some magic job on that car. Hatchback design so the backseats flipped down to a big storage area. Now it would be injustice not to talk about the 4 cylinder naturally aspirated 8000 Red Line revving engine that with an AEM cold air intake let the meanest growl you could ever imagine with the stock exhaust. It absolutely terrified people in the warm weather with their windows down as I ripped by thru the gears. All for a reasonable $20,000 !
    This new Integra Type S looks much bigger ( wider & longer). The turbo engine is a 4 cylinder work of art. However the cost of this car runs $51,000 to $57,500+ ! While the new Type S has a much nicer interior the function is still what the old Integra gave too. My gripe is that it will never be in the price range of most young enthusiasts like the old Integra. It was what 5 or 6 years that Acura got rid of the manual transmissions in their cars. This new Integra brought back the manual to Acura.

    • @AutoEnthusedTV
      @AutoEnthusedTV  11 місяців тому +3

      Totally get it but we also have to take into account inflation. Everything is much more expensive now and I think one other thing we forget is that a lot less younger buyers are actually interested in cars compared to our generation. This makes this more of a niche product as time goes on.

    • @thehondacura3773
      @thehondacura3773 10 місяців тому

      $52k is overpriced for this class of vehicle. There is so much more you can buy with the added dealer butt F%*# costs🤮 Shifting a manual transmission goes all the way back to the 1986 Integra 5-door, and through the GS-R, Type-R, and Type-S years. The original USDM Type-S arrived in June 2001 as a 2002 model. A manual is only a selling point for noobs now🙄

    • @ag4allgood
      @ag4allgood 10 місяців тому +1

      @@thehondacura3773 Noobs won't Buy a manual because they can't use their smart phones while driving ! Its the enthusiasts who want a manual transmission. Not someone who has never had one. The Type S doesn't come with a slush box for a reason ! Its not a car for the masses. Once the hype calms down I expect the prices will too.

    I wish the Acura TLX Type S came with a manual transmission. At 6 foot 2 inches I just cannot fit in this car but I can fit nicely in the TLX. It just floors me that a manual transmission cannot be in a mid-sized car like the TLX.
    I owned a 1995 Acura Legend V6 5-speed in college and loved that car so much. A TLX Type S manual would sell like hot cakes.

    Was very close of going with a ITS but ultimately went with the CTR last month. They both drive very similarly(obviously) but the interior of the Type R is ultimately what sold me. Both vehicles have some features that the other vehicle doesnt have and vice versa so its all about what you want to compromise and rather have more when it comes right down to it. ITS has few more bose speakers, better exhaust, rear LED turns to name a few while the CTR has better seats, racing/S2000 style odometer, data log, bigger wing ,etc. They both are great cars either way.

    Honda and Acura need to study the German cars and learn how to design a quiet cabin in their cars. They haven't got there yet. I like features of the Type S but don't think it's worth $9K over the Honda type R. The high back on the rear of the car makes my back ache just looking at it... I had enough of that with my Type S RSX. I like the looks, the heavy metal flake paint, the slightly crackly engine and of course the Acura drive train quality. Good and honest review, thanks.

    Really nice review. It’s clear that the ‘missings’ you believe the car should have are all beancounter cuts that produce additional income by their absence. It’s surprising they didn’t include those items in this competitive midsize sport segment.

    I've waited a long time for acura to bring out this car. My daily drive is still my 2005 RSX-S which I love. So I've been waiting for an option to replace it but haven't found anything that balances the fun and practicality I have now. The only things that's kept me from buying this car is 1st the cloth diaper down the center of all the seats. If I wanted cloth seats I'd order them or drive a GR Corolla or a VW GTI. It feels like a cheap cut. This is easily my biggest complaint. A little disappointed it doesn't have a moonroof option and while I knew it would be a 4 door I wish they hadn't made it sooooo big and yes I raised my youngest in my rsx-s. It was my gift to me for her 1st birthday lol so cars don't have to be huge all the time lol. Super happy it's a manual and a hatchback.

    At a price over $60k for a 4 cylinder turbo engine FWD vehicle, I wouldn’t touch this thing with a 10 foot pole. Over priced and not measuring up to the performance for the price. At this price I’d rather get a BMW M3.40i X Drive or IS500 F Sprot Performance Premium. This Integra type S is a complete rip off. Rather even get the TSX type S.

    Signed up for the pre-order on May 14, and 4 months later, I've had very little communication at all and I only got 1 update after complaining about no updates. So far, I'm feeling pretty disappointed with this whole process. I would really love to have some kind of idea of when I could expect it to come in. I guess for some reason I was expecting that signing up for the pre-order meant that I would be getting one fairly quickly and I was not prepared for how long it would take.

    • @bbennett4339
      @bbennett4339 Рік тому

      I think a lot of people got screwed on the pre-order thing. I didn't even decide to buy one of these until August, but contacted a couple dealers to get on the list. 2 weeks later I got a call saying they got one in and the person who reserved it couldn't go through with it, was I interested? I went in the next day and bought it with a $699 markup. That was the end of August. Hopefully you get yours soon. They are nice cars and a lot of fun to drive despite what all the whiners on the intertubes say. Perfect car? No. But I'm still waiting to see a perfect car.

    Ok I am seeing some trends similar to my Corolla Hatch XSE. Lack of passenger power seats, no tray in the center console and no memory seats. Is it really that much more to add those? I am looking to upgrade the Corolla (while nice) to either an Integra Type S or TLX type S. I love the manual in my Corolla (not as much as my NSX) so I am leaning towards the Integra. One thing I thought would happen with driving a rev match manual system is it would mess up my driving of my NSX as far as remembering to blip the gas or heel-toe rev match that while driving. It did not happen. I guess my body just knows what car I am in and it happens automatically without thinking.

    Beautiful car but I’m not touching it for the price. You can find either new or low mileage M340i’s, a used M550i or even find an Alfa Romeo Guilia quadrifoglio for 70k. Hell just get a Supra and have 15k left over for mods. Dealerships are ruining this car and it’s not worth it for the price.

    • @AutoEnthusedTV
      @AutoEnthusedTV  10 місяців тому

      I was actually cross shopping between this and the Supra but a manual Supra is 18-months out and starts at $60K without the markups. I also liked the M340i’s but I really didn’t want to own another BMW (cue in Supra joke lol). This Type-S was totally worth the price I paid as I never wished I got something else. This just resonated with me more than any other car in the market and that goes beyond specs. I appreciate the comment!

    Honda loses a lot by insisting on using a front-wheel drive system for its cars.
    The exterior design is very advanced , the cabin has a sporty design, but the driving system is not suitable for providing sporty performance , tuning the front wheel drive to give optimal sporty performance still missing the advancements in the combination of the gripping of the permanent 4wd , advanced traction control whete it works on distributing the breaking of the wheels , reducing the engine rpm , in combined with the arranging or manipulations the tires motions .

      @@AutoEnthusedTV I did drive fwd but not the refined Honda , generally speaking the fwd cars are suitable for a inside the city all the weight focus on the front and you can feel the car pulls from under your feet . Perhaps with modern suspension systems, this feeling is lighter, but you still feel that the car’s center of gravity is leaning forward.
      In addition, front-wheel drive cars would have engines with less horsepower , than those with a rear or a permanent four-wheel drive system , so its less scalable platform for tunning very pity when the whole car is considered suitable for modification .
      when talking about the sport division of Honda especially civic type r and its equivalent in Acura , I think the company is losing a lot by not promoting permanent 4wd , considering that its is the only remaining small sport car from the fwd era , while all its rival models from other companies turned to the advance 4wd systems .

    My friend just bought an Integra type s. There is a sound that sounds like a thin metal tab touching some rotation metal mass... like badly installes new brakes (not the worn brake high pitch). It happens at about 2nd gear at 20mph in gear off gas. It doesn't happen in neural at the same speed off gas. I think it is the clutch. The sound can be heard with windows down with buildings bouncing back the sound. Does it happen to your demo as well?

    Can anyone attest to mark ups on the Type-S? If people still prefer the Type-R, perhaps the Type-S isn’t being marked up or not marked up as much as the Type-R. Even if the Type-S is cheaper, I can’t get over the fact it’s an economy car dressed up as a luxury car. An economy car can be a sports car, but it can’t become a luxury car. When I’m at the track, I marvel at the people who turn their Dodge Neon or regular Civic (non-Si or Type-R) into a stock car. But when I see someone turn an economy car to a luxury car, it makes me cringe.

Metal speaker grills over all speakers and get rid of the piano black center council by covering it with faux leather like the armrest which would make it more abrasion resistant with matching stitching. Why curb rash? Put the mirror switch to the right position and leave it there. When it goes into reverse the mirror auto lowers I believe like the CVT model? The sun visors feel cheap.
