    Hi, from Japan!! First of all, I envy people at North America can drive Integra or TLX. Both cars are not available in Japan even though Acura(Honda) is Japanese car company. In my opinion, I think most of cars can be fun cars if they have manual shift.

    Dealer Logic: In February, when I was shopping for a V6 sport sedan, I was looking at the G70 3.3T Sport Prestige and the Acura TLX Type S. The Type S was at sticker slightly over $56,000 and the G70 was at sticker at just above $55,000. The Acura dealer where I live marked up their TLX Type S-es to $64,000 before taxes, license and fees. The Genesis dealer agreed to leave off the "mandatory" alarm system and paint protection package. So, no markup, and the red interior I wanted. I would have preferred to buy another Honda product, since I've owned a manual Accord and a Civic Si, but the Acura dealer made my decision really easy to give Genesis a shot. No regrets so far.

      What is this comment doing here? This review is about the Integra. TLX and G70 are not in the same category--much heavier cars without a manual transmission. And neither rated for track use. ITS is Road & Track's 2024 Performance Car of the Year for a reason.

    Re: making the TLX redundant: don't forget that the number of Americans that can drive a manual in 2023 is likely below 20% of the population. Manual transmission vehicles are no longer mainstream products. As such, I think the auto-only TLX has a safe place in the Acura product line.

      I’ve owned 5 Acuras and 3 Hondas so let me add some unbiased opinion. I’d most definitely take the TLX TypeS over the Integra TypeS. Hear me out, I was hoping Acura had built the new Integra to face off with the Audi A5/S5 lift back .But they pinned it against the A3/S3. Therefore to me the Integra is too much like the Civic, it’s in a very weird place to compete with Audi/BMW/Mercedes. So taking the TLX TypeS is a easy pick if I don’t care about leg room and trunk space.
      If that’s what I want I go for the A5/S5 lift back.
      I was really hoping they either give the TLX a wagon or lift back option. Or make the Integra bigger so we wouldn’t have to compare it to the Civic.

    You’re right about the rear seat room in the TLX. It’s a crime. I don’t see from the interior or exterior what actually makes this a luxury vehicle. I drive the Integra Type S and the GR86 back to back and I can say for long drives I really like the Type S. Not as luxurious as a Merc but the car is overall great. The GR86 is more linear but less smooth. I would definitely do a short shifter and nice sportier suspension on the Type S. As far as the seats, yes, the Type S seats need more bolstering but I can understand that Acura didn't want to make it too similar to the Type R. The interior door light should have been changing colors with the drive mode as it does with the MDX. The center console has too much gloss black. Everything else is good.

    Born and raised, lived all my life only 10 miles from Lake Superior. No shortage of need for excellent tires and 4/AWD around here. Haven't had anything 2WD in more than 10 years, and thought for sure I'd have to buy used 2014 and older models of the Subaru Legacy for the rest of my life because I require AWD _aaand_ a manual tranny in my "nice car." I like the Subaru well enough, but I really want an Accord, and the last manuals of those were never AWD. I don't like the Camry, I refuse to buy Nissan or Kia, I don't want the high cost of ownership of anything German made, and Detroit makes nothing AWD+6MT anymore either. I already have a 4WD+5MT Honda Element for utility purposes and rough rural backroads, but it's coming time to get rid of the Legacy I have. The 2012 I have is at the end of its value. I still need a nice car, nicer than a Civic. If only Acura still made the TL+6MT, because I don't want the AWD in the TLX more than I want/need/require a manual tranny, esp. since all the automatics in these cars are CVTs anyway.
    This car convinced me I don't need AWD anymore. Thanks for pointing that out guys.

If the CIvic isn't really good as an all rounder and is more of a sports car, I am not buying a FWD 4-door sedan as my sports car. The moment these hot hatch type of car isn't usable on a day to day basis (or at least compromised enough where you don't want to use it like that), they cease to be interesting at all.

If you're actually in the market for something in this category, just go test drive it. For the previous generation CTR and Focus ST Honda and Ford simultaneously developed knuckle designs that nearly completely separate steering from power delivery, despite both being sent to the same wheels.

    Really love the car but Acura is absolutely gouging Americans on the price for this one. These are selling in Canada for an MSRP of 55,600 Canadian dollars. That converts to about $40,300 US dollars. While it's true that Canadians generally pay higher taxes on new car purchases (they also pay something called a PDI), I'm excluding them because the taxes don't go to Acura. Canadians even get a heated steering wheel standard which is about a $500 option in the US. If Acura can make a decent profit selling an American made car in Canada for $40,300, why are they jacking up the price so high in the US?

    • @DriverBob14
      @DriverBob14 Рік тому +1

      Thank the snow for that. No seriously, almost everyone and their dog believes they need to have AWD because it snows here and so the S3 and M240xi are more highly considered than the ITS so they have to price it favorably to be competitive. While it sucks for the northern half of the US, they can only have one MSRP and given how well they sell, it's supply and demand.
      The only thing Acura did wrong IMHO, they should have said we'll make as many cars as people who want to buy them. Might take a while, but you'll get it, and that would instantly eliminate the BS that is dealer markups.

      @DriverBob14 Рік тому +2

      I cross-shopped the G70 based on price and while it is amazing value for the money, I passed on it for the ITS for 2 reasons.. Firstly, there is such a difference between automatic and manual. I've said this before in many other UA-cam comments but do you want a steak that's cooked in a microwave or on the BBQ? Microwave is faster and "better" in every way on paper, but the BBQ steak is what you really want at the end of the day.
      Second is reliability. My current Honda is 3 years older than Genesis as a company. Hyundai doesn't exactly embody durability and longevity and for the fact I did not know how the G70 will hold up 10 years after purchase, I couldn't comfortably pull the trigger given my buying style.

      @@rightwingsafetysquad9872 I fully understand my reasoning is mostly anecdotal but I had a co-worker that went through 2 engines in her Elantra. Sure it was under warranty but there's something to be said about the headaches around not having your car and having it fail on you unexpectedly. Also, is the 10 year a US thing because in Canada both Hyundai and Genesis only have a 5 year warranty for anything worthwhile (e.g. powertrain).
      There's also things like the USB debacle where I understand the more luxurious Genesis has an immobilizer, but it leads me to question what shortcuts did Genesis take to offer so much more for the same price?
      I wish them well and I hope they succeed, more competition is always a good thing but when I've lived 23 years (13+10) of Honda ownership that was essentially oil, filters, tires and brakes and combine that with my close family who all have kept their Honda's minimum 10 year under the same condition, Honda could offer a 1 year warranty and I'd still buy from them.... but only until they burn me. If Honda starts to make lemons I'd quickly move on to another brand who'd offer me that peace of mind.
