Is this the theme from the yet to be released "The Invisible Man in the 22nd Century?" Great video Bud and great to be funnin about your choice of music. 😂
To many of you not in the HVAC industry and lacking the knowledge on why there is a gap at the bottom of your doors. The reason there is a gap is for air flow movement throughout your house. Go to any office building or school and you’ll find two different styles of air registers in the ceiling, one is for supply air into the room and the other is for sucking or returning the air out back to the air conditioning unit to get cooled or heated again. Now look in your home bedrooms and you’ll only see one air register or more depending on the size of the space, notice you only have air being supplied into the room, well where is the return grill, there isn’t one, so the only way to get air out of the space is through the gap at the bottom of the door. We all have the one or two big grills somewhere in your home, this is the return air being sent back to your AC unit. By blocking the bottom of the door you are essentially starving your AC unit of air and it will try to recover this air from other places. This also reduces the efficiency of your AC unit and your rooms don’t feel comfortable and stale. What you are doing is slowing down the amount of air into that space or room, and just like anything else the air will be pushed to another space because of path of least resistance. Remember you can’t put air into a space unless you can take air out of the space. Now if this was a door leading outside your home then absolutely you would want to block this gap however that was not the case in this video. Hope this makes sense for you all. Have a blessed day.
een said but I will add to it. The gap is primarily in mfg. Homes, not always. Your modification is not fixing but breaking the comfort of your home and raises heat cost.
This is more of an indoor solution. It will keep out light and keep air from freely circulating under the door. But it’s not going to work for an exterior door. For those, you would want a threshold with a rubber sweep. Unfortunately, I don’t have a video for that yet. I will need to do one of those.
Sorry about that. We will try to use less music. There is a mute button on the video. We only can use the canned music they allow as we don’t have any budget and can not afford royalties to major labels for use of their music. Just trying to help people out. Sorry again to offend and we will do better for you.
Are you here for the music or what’s been taught? Why are we always looking for faults where there are none. Damn!! And by the way the music and the simplicity of the video is top notch.. Thank you!! You just saved me a lot of money. 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
The music is not inappropriate at all . Idk what you are talking about. I first red Your Comment and thought. The music was going to be some Cardi B or city girls Twerking music.😂😂
That is … unfortunate… if your gap is bigger than the one in this video you will likely need to secure a piece of wood to your door or invest in a larger threshold… or new door
Whenever I buy anything like this, the first thing I do is throw away the provided screws. They are always rubbish and made of Chinesium or the other well known alloy Muckite. Then finish the project with good quality hardware.
The part screwed into the back of the door on the bottom could be used for both interior and exterior. However… if you have this large of a gap on an exterior door you would be better situated to add a threshold screwed to the ground and also a sweep attached directly to the bottom of the door.
@@marissa699most likely the room had carpeting before and was removed for a hard or vinyl surface. If this is the case to only remedy is to get a new door, while this suck you can at least get the proper gap for your door which is an inch to 1.5 inches.
If you have a 3-4 inch gap… sounds like it’s time to get a new door or add a 2x4 to the bottom of the door as it is about 3 and a half inches wide. Remove door and screw a 2x4 to the bottom and re hang. Then if there is still a small gap this would still work. If it really is 3.25 gap you would need to shave down wood to fit. If this is in an rv or room without a return air duct it may be that high for a reason (air flow)
My builder messed up, fitted a door to new opening but he made the opening higher than the length of the door then COVID happened and he never came back to fix the issue. Worst part is that it's the bathroom door😠
Or save your money and buy an inexpensive piece of pine trim and pin nail to door. Paint same color as door or for a classic look spray gold to match hardware. About $10.00 for trim and paint.
if the gap is as big as some people have suggested... 3 plus inch gap... its best to do this... or buy a new door. there is no excuse for a gap that large.
Two inch gap?? Hell no! I had that in my house and kept catching my toe in there, plus bats were squeezing underneath! No thanks! Got rid of the gaps, got rid of the bats. All good now.
In the US, we order most things through Amazon... I'm not sure what online ordering options are available in Pakistan, Sorry... I would think if you have a local hardware store, they should carry a similar product.
Next time we will ask everyone what music is appropriate. I guarantee everyone will have a different answer. Personally I would rather hear this than some twangy country tune or headbanging crap that numbs the brain beyond adsorption. Are we here to jam or learn a skill? There is an option called volume or mute on most devices created after the wheel was invented. Use it and stop whinning.
My bedroom door does not have any gap at the bottom and no airflow in & out (stupid contractors), how do I make the gap? Without taking the door off and cut the bottom of it!
Remove the door from 2 hinges. Reinstall door with 2 hinges. First, cut a “piece of wood” to size and thickness and length. Then paint, or stain and finish the “piece of wood”.
BS, In America all doors look like this...come to Europe and learn a thing or two....the gaps do not exist in Europe....this is just a lazy U.S. thing.
Yeah. Sorry, I wish we could use whatever we wanted… but, unfortunately the choices for non-copyrighted music are pretty limited. But there is always the mute button. Lol
This is awesome, but I find the tiniest little hole on the bottom right really humorous
I suppose that is an airhole !
Cmon guys, this music makes the video. How utterly heroic :)
It’s hard to find music to please everyone. But that’s why UA-cam puts in the mute button. 😂

Love your music choice! Beautiful music for a beautiful, doable solution! Thanks! 😊
The gap is there for air circulation, if you close it off you wouldn't have great circulation in those rooms air or heat.
Also it remove the option of having a door mat there too. And dirt just gets tracked in through the apartment.
thanks for providing link as well
You are welcome. We try to make it as easy as possible to save people money.

He's referring to INTERIOR doors.
ah. good to know
What if I am trying to conserve energy by not using central heat and only a space heater in one room? Would this be an ok case to fill the door gap?
I thought they were to let the cat crawl in under the door
Is this suitable for iron gate?
My gap is at the top.
Can I do the top as well?

I'm gonna cut a strip from an old tyre wide enough to cover my back door bottom gap. I'll also thin it out near the edge🌟💪.

Sounds like the Sims building mode so it’s perfect actually 😅
How should I clean it
The hand tool on a vacuum would probably work pretty well. But if you want to wash it, they are pretty easy to take off and put back on.
I am watching lots of these door gap videos, and so far none of the solutions will work in my case.

How received
They got 4 in door sweeps?
I had a theory on why my bedroom door has this but I can't find anything on it.
Theory: it's for ventilation for heating and air.
yea the door sweep I bought reaches half way down... theres still a decent sized gap xD
Whenever I buy anything like this, the first thing I do is throw away the provided screws. They are always rubbish and made of Chinesium or the other well known alloy Muckite. Then finish the project with good quality hardware.
What do you call that thing you installed to the door?
Door sweep
Is that for interior doors only?
The part screwed into the back of the door on the bottom could be used for both interior and exterior. However… if you have this large of a gap on an exterior door you would be better situated to add a threshold screwed to the ground and also a sweep attached directly to the bottom of the door.

This is beyond stupid. The door gap is intentional. It assists airflow. You will notice the room will become airless and stale
Where Can I buy this and How much
There is a link to purchase one of these door sweeps on Amazon in the description of the video.
Those are great for a 1" gap. What about a 3.25" gap?

Yeah. Cutting the bottom off of the door seems like the way to fix that.
I don't see any problem with that size of a gap.The fix looks worse than the gap and a small gap is needed.
