Getting the most amazing results from your shoulder exercises. Major muscles behind the shoulder are really bound, any exercises for this area? Wow! You’re the best ever!
Wonderful info and instruction. I'm finding info on your channel that I haven't heard yet...and I've watched a ton of these kinds of videos. Thank you!
I just found this bideo and i did it yesterday and i felt better ,repeated it tiday !thank tyou so much i had shoulder develpment it had improve the pain is gone!
The isometric rotations are a great exercise if you don’t have any bands. The wall stretch is nothing short of a miracle. There are many stretches that look similar on the internet that are helpful but this one provides instant relief and allows me to lift weights again.
Hi Dr.Whitten Your videos are great.I have costochondritis, very painful and the shoulder joints hurt a lot. Please make a video about it if possible.I do not know which exercises to make in this situation.Wishing you well Marian
Hello How often should i be doing these exercises in a week? I watched your video 3 days ago and ive done them 6 times so far and i already feel better that other 4 PT's couldn't fix and shit load of treatment appts with zero results. I wish i had found this video 3 years ago. yes been in pain since 3 years now. Already feel that my shoulder pulled back THANK YOU SO MUCH
So glad this was helpful for you! The weekly volume will vary from one individual to the next. But, a good rule of thumb is to find a volume that creates an increase in functionality without causing any fatigue or soreness afterwards.
Excellent video! Question, isometric exercises vs. working with a resistance band? What is the difference? Do you do isometrics first and if advised, than move to resistance bands? I just finished 3 months of PT for Right Shoulder pain. MRI showed several issues including issues with the supraspinatus I have regained 90% of functioning. It's that last 10% that includes discomfort/pain when performing a military press position or reaching for things in kitchen cupboards.
Thanks Bonnie! What you describe is VERY common. That final 10% of shoulder rehab is almost always the most challenging. A couple things that I watch out for are optimizing position of the head & neck and building lots strength / stamina in the scapular stabilizers.
Recently 3mths ago had Abdominal Recti with mesh surgery. still feel bulge wanting to push out. haven't been able to do my regular ab workouts. Any idea what exercise I should do and not do?
It's a good question, Eloy. If you're feeling a "bulge wanting to push out" I would strongly recommend checking with your surgeon before starting any exercise program.
Unfortunately, without a physical examination there's just no way to offer specific advise. I would strongly recommend seeing a qualified rehab professional in your area to determine whether or not you're a good candidate for conservative treatment.
Hi, I enjoy your videos every week. Thank you. Quick question, I have a very small head (big brand😀). I usually wear kid size hats/helmets. I’m 62 years old. Does the Traction unit have lots of option re: head size? Thank you!
Thank you, Kandi! The Active Traction Unit (ATU) has about 4 inches of built-in adjustability thanks to the velcro straps which enables it to accommodate most people's heads. For really small people, we sometimes have them wear a headband or scarf underneath to give a little boost in size.
I wish I had seen your video long before now Dr. Whitten, but I wanna make sure I can do the exercises. One day I woke up and could not move my shoulder and have no ability in my arm. It’s been about three months. If the diagnosis was osteoarthritis, should I still do the same exercises.
I'm so glad you found the channel, Deon! I have a entire playlist dedicated to the shoulder and there's probably several videos in there that you would find helpful. Here's the link: ua-cam.com/play/PL1rO7vW04HUBscJklj1g7Ji-gz8a1Dllu.html
Thanks Kathie! It's difficult to say without an examination and always best to check with your health care provider. As a general rule though, if you can do the movements without pain and your functionality improves after doing them, you're on the right track.
Love these. But I have a non union broken clavicle. Ends of bones dissolved so some kind of implant is necessary. Is there anything I can do? Dr. Doesn’t recommend surgery because it’s so painful and 20-30% unsuccessful and my age , 77. It aches anyway quite a bit anyway and I have no strength. Anything?
I don't believe any supplements were mentioned in this video, Roberta. However if you need help with any resources, just reach out the support team at www.painfixprotocol.com/
Hi Penny, It would be impossible to say without an examination. However, there is evidence that appropriately designed & implemented pre-operative physiotherapy improves surgical outcomes - leading to less pain, shorter hospital stays, decreased use of medication and faster recovery. Here's a case study from 2020 where a patient was so happy with the outcomes from his "pre-hab" that he postponed his shoulder replacement indefinitely. pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/32158084/
Why only isometric rotator cuff exercises ? It’s definitely a more isolated muscle stress, but a cable resistance for the full range of rotator cuff motion seems to accomplish the same goal ???
Great question Terry. I used isometrics for this video because they're a great starting point for building a base level of strength. Progressing up to full range of motion, pain-free resistance training (using cables, bands or weights) is definitely the goal.

Thanks Paul! Therabands are one of many great strength training tools. I use them all the time - just not in every video.

Bunion alignment ..possibility of realigning bunion with collapsed metatarsal??
Good question, Susan. I did an entire video on Bunions - here's the link: ua-cam.com/video/NJHc2GVy2aI/v-deo.html
I currently have bursitis. Can I do all of these anyway? Love your site and videos, btw.

@@painfixprotocol music to my ears! I definitely DON'T want this surgery! Who do I go to to follow up with this? I'm in NY metro area.
